OfoIgbo:And I guess sir, we would always disagree on this point. Ojukwu was too calculating, and had little respect for his cabinet and advisers. Why form a cabinet, if you are not going to take their advice or consult with them? Why prosecute a war which would claim people's lives, without consulting widely? ![]() Some believed he exhibited the highest form of narcissism by doing that. I would encourage you to read Ralph Uwechue's book about Biafra titled Reflections on the Nigerian Civil War: Facing the Future which was first published in 1996. In it, the former President General of Oha-n-eze Ndigbo believes the war was lost because of Ojukwu's intransigience and had he listened to the advice of those in his inner caucus all along, more lives would have been saved. ![]() When it comes to support of the minorities, the jury is out on this one. There are some that support the Biafran cause, there are others that do not. Anyway, the most important thing is to ensure that at the end of the day, all parties achieve their desires without rancour, bitterness or violence. ![]() |
zendy:Didn't I call you a kid the last time?? ![]() |
OperationIgrigi:Nah...you just proved that you are the 'fool' from the contents of your response. Ì ̣nà-apù ̣alā? So since independence, it is only the one with the SS you can point to??! Clap for yourself, for being the new subservient subject of the Fula. ![]() |
ekenedegreat:Now why do you keep mentioning your middle names which everyone knows as 'monkey and baboon,' whenever an issue comes up? Do you hate yourself that much? Na wa o!] ![]() It was the federal forces that fought against the Biafran soldiers. Or was it ghosts? And spirits? As for knowing about the civil war, guy I know far more than you know. You are just a kid. Now get a life! ![]() |
xtrorse: |
OfoIgbo:I agree with you on two points: (1). The TIMING was not right. (2) the SS is not as antagonistic to Biafra now, as they were in the sixties. Well, I believe parts of the SS like the SS Igbo are not as antagonistic towards Biafra as they used to be. But other parts of the SS such as the Urhobo, Itsekiri, Edo etc., still retain their mistrust for Biafra. ![]() Now with respect to Ojukwu being 'trusting', I beg to disagree. Ojukwu was calculating! He may also have been politically naive...but 'trusting?' No way! He refused to heed the advice of his cabinet and did not hold wide consultations across board during the war. ![]() The reason he sent Banjo on that expedition to the west, was because he thought that Banjo being a Yoruba man, would have an easier chance to over-run the West. He thought the Yoruba in the West would be sympathetic to him, being a son of the soil. His calculations were wrong! ![]() |
OperationIgrigi:Was it a faceless person that made the assertion?? Why not direct your own questions to the particular person, or set of people that claimed that an Igbo would never be president. ![]() Why must you lump everyone together? That is one challenge your folks have : They know how to blame others for their problems even when they are the architect of their own misfortunes. These are the same Igbo who have consistently been unable to build inter-ethnic relationships with several other non-Igbo ethnic groups in Nigeria to support any presidential bid, like MKO Abiola did and his candidature was accepted nationwide. Many of them only delight in pulling others down, using propaganda, tribalistic chants and hate-filled speeches.Praying for Nigeria is not compulsory for everyone. Let only those interested in her well-being, pray for her. ![]() Finally, the proponents of Biafra can clear whatever they want to clear, but don't be surprised if those ashes they are clearing eventually turn out to be their own. |
mygee2:Good point. So he has been using a Nigerian passport to fly around, campaigning for the breakup of the same Nigeria?? Chai! That passport should have been withdrawn long ago. If he was using a UN refugee travelling certificate to campaign for Biafra, I would have had more respect for him. |
zendy:I have told you before... you are nothing, but a kid. A badly schooled one at that. You have never seen violent riots before in your life. And you have never met those who had to deal with the pain, losses and aftermath of a war. Otherwise, you would have recognised from Nnamdi Kanu's inciting statements, that such hate speeches fuel conflict between tribes, ethnic groups and communities. And by the time such conflicts escalate into conflagrations, the likes of Nnamdi Kanu would be nowhere to be found. It is so sad that people cannot learn from the lessons of the past. The day you become a victim of a mindless violent riot, not to talk of a conflict, your thinking pattern would be reset. ![]() Please do your research before coming here to recycle empty statements. You can have your Biafra. What does not make sense is why numbskulls like Kanu think they must denigrate and vilify Nigeria, in order to have their Biafra. Nations are not borne through hate speeches on the internet. So kindly think deeply before you insultingly call others 'slaves', and kindly get a life ! ![]() |
NOBLEDANDY:Don't worry, they will eventually finish off the Boko Haram boys. Haven't you read the latest reports about the how the military has the upper hand? Secondly, you are a living example of a nonentity. Honestly. Because you lack the logic and understanding to deploy a fact-filled response, you had to resort to insults. Typical. ![]() Thirdly, anyone who claims to be "ready for war," is also in a frame of mind to instigate war. Why would you mention war, if you were not thinking of engaging in it? Unless, the rudiments of English language are beyond you?? ![]() Finally, you missed it. From your comments here, everyone can see that you are the one with 'the brain cells of a rabbit.' That is why you are making reference to war. Like I told you before: " that war you are advocating, will first consume you and everything dear to you, before it spreads in any other direction." ![]() |
samofson:Guy, your predictions are coming to pass. Kachikwu has announced plans to split the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) which is a subsidiary of NNPC, into 3 parts or 3 separate companies. Let us wait and see how things will unfold. ![]() |
Ban which overseas trips for which medical reasons, biko nu?? So that our local doctors here can continue killing patients with their misdiagnosis, their nonchalant attitudes during emergencies, their lack of cutting edge technology, their incomplete or contaminated diagnostic kits, their huge medical bills filled with little substance and zero value etc. ![]() They have not been able to adequately deliver primary healthcare, or emergency services at the points where it is most needed. Is it secondary healthcare they would then facilitate with ease?? ![]() I beg let them shut up! Strike mongers! |
anachy:Which dirty evidence?? A few Edo words quoted from an online source??! And you think that makes me a Benin man? You are even more daft than I thought! ![]() Yes, I have always stated it - that I have relatives from all over Nigeria. What is wrong with that?? If your own people are too clannish to marry outside their ethnic groups, then it is your own myopic problem. Why blame others for it?? I have relatives from Igbo, Igala, Edo, Kanuri, Yoruba, Fulani, Nupe, Bachama, Sayawa, Efik, Ijaw, etc. and so many other ethic groups. If it offends you, please hug the nearest transformer! Don't wait! You have my permission to do so! Ekwensu! ![]() |
OfoIgbo:And having known all the reasons why the old Biafra lost, why would your people still be thinking of using a military option to achieve their aims? Where do they think the continuous inflow of funds to sustain that military offensive will come from? Have they thought through the aftermath or consequences of their actions, if the military offensive mounted by Biafra actually takes place?? Do they think the federal side will also sit on the sidelines, twiddling their thumbs?? Have they been briefed about retired Major-General robert Adeyinka Adebayo's admonition to the south-east prior to the Nigerian civil war in the late sixties?I need not tell you what horror, what devastation and what extreme human suffering will attend the use of force. When it is all over and the smoke and dust have lifted, and the dead are buried, we shall find, as other people have found, that it has all been futile, entirely futile, in solving the problems we set out to solve .https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Adeyinka_AdebayoYou stated that there is "another IPOB faction currently embarking on legal moves against the Nigerian government. This same IPOB faction along with their legal arm have established links with the United Nations ... which has a better and clearer roadmap to achieving Biafra peacefully, however they lack the publicity machinery of Kanu's faction". Well, good for them. Let us hope they have learnt from the mistakes of their predecessors, and would consult widely among the larger Igbo populace across all strata of society, before making their final moves. It sounds like their faction comprises mainly of members of the intelligentsia. Finally, you stated that: "their message will be unstoppable and has the capability to douse the unnecessarily spiteful messages that emanate from Radio Biafra. But make no mistakes about it, the spiteful messages have helped Biafrans to be a little more passionate about the struggle, so it is serving a purpose, but the disadvantage of it is that the messages will linger long after its purpose has been achieved." I beg to disagree with you here. Those spiteful messages are counter-productive, and have become a double-edged sword. The only thing it has succeeded in doing, is to antagonise the non-Igbo against the Biafran cause. You cannot call a people's homeland a zoo, and expect them to be sympathetic to your cause. You cannot keep using invectives and hate-filled speech to describe other non-Igbo groups, and think they would not react to you with disgust and disdain. ![]() The same kind of propaganda being spewed out by Nnamdi Kanu is reminiscent of the type that was peddled prior to the civil war and even during the war. Innocent Igbo folks believed everything they were told, and it hastened their demise as they marched to the war front. Such similar spiteful speeches fuelled tribalism and hate towards the Igbo in the North, during 1966, which led to the progrom, after the first coup in which leaders from other ethnic groups were massacred. Instead of learning from the mistakes of the past the new generation of after-1970 Igbo are repeating it. May God help us all. |
NOBLEDANDY:Try and instigate that war that you are preaching, and you will know who is bluffing, by the time the Nigerian military forces descend on you! Like I said to you before: " that war you are advocating, will first consume you and everything dear to you, before it spreads in any other direction. How dare you threaten others with war??!! What arrant nonsense!" ![]() |
anachy:You are a mugu. You sound like babyosisi. I can speak a number of languages fairly well. It does not make me an indigene of those ethnic groups whose languages I speak. The same way, speaking English does not make you a citizen of England. Now get the heck out of my mentions. May one thousand flies infest your armpits, if you ever quote me again, you low life! |
PentiumPro:Those that have ears to hear, let them hear, biko nu! |
NOBLEDANDY:And that war you are advocating, will first consume you and everything dear to you, before it spreads in any other direction. How dare you threaten others with war??!! What arrant nonsense! ![]() |
ahaz:May God have mercy on your hate-filled soul! |
EdCure:It is a good project that will create jobs. Dangote oil refinery slated for Lekki area of Lagos should also kick off in earnest. Preliminary works have already started. This would also reduce part of the unemployment in the country, once construction works begin at the site. |
Masterclass32:Amen, Amen and Amen to your prayers for Nigeria!! I join you to say that "Nigeria's glory will shine to the ends of the earth. Nigeria, Africa, the Black race and more importantly, the glory of God will shine in the eyes of the world, " in the name of Jesus, our Yeshua! Masterclass32, May the Lord make you 'a thousand times greater than your enemies,' for saying this prayer for our country. As we all continue to pray for this nation, the enemies within will not succeed, the detractors without will not prosper in their evil plans, against this our nation called Nigeria. Let the intercessors arise!! ![]() |
Txonyi:You have NOT answered the question - What are your federal senators, ministers, state governors etc., doing??! How come they looked the other way, while the roads deteriorated to this stage??!! Why couldn't the state govts fix it and turn round to claim back the money from the federal purse, like Fashola did?? ![]() |
OfoIgbo:Personally, I am not against Biafra secession. But my argument has always been that it should be done peacefully. And that Nigeria does NOT have to break in a violent manner into banana republics, for Biafra to survive. ![]() Why do the proponents of Biafra always preach hate and anarchy against the non-Igbo? Do they think by preaching hate, their dreams will be fulfilled? Anyone "who has a sentence of death hanging around his shoulder and is infinitely more willing to engage in a mortal battle" should do so on his own, rather than dragging others along with him on his path to destruction. Is that so hard to understand? You claim that if not for the positive help Nigeria received from the UK, Biafra would have won. I beg to disagree. Biafra had help from France and other nations too. The truth was that Biafra would not have succeeded for many reasons: (1). Ojukwu was outmanned, outgunned and outnumbered during that war; (2). The internal wrangling and dissension within the Biafran high command and the populace, weakened Biafra from within and also contributed in bringing it to its' knees, as Ojukwu declined to engage in consultations or take advice from his cabinent; (3). Biafra was landlocked after the federal forces instituted a naval blockade - a strategy Ojukwu could not counter as he did not forsee it; (4). Biafra was unable to provide food or adequate nutrition for its citizens, and refused all entreaties to allow a food corridor to be opened via land to get food across to the citizenry; (5). Biafra relied more on the use of propaganda than facts, in getting news across to the people, with the result that the right kind of messages were not being received by the people. Instead many of them were being brainwashed by propaganda, rather than basing their decisions on actual reality; (6). The change of currency on the federal side, rendered the millions seized by Biafra useless, as they tried to use that cash to prosecute the war; (7). People sent by Biafra to buy arms, ended up putting the money in their private pockets; The list is endless. I would reiterate my suggestion - the Igbo should seek to establish their nation by peaceful means rather than violent methods. Too many families on both sides still carry the wounds and painful memories of the losses they incurred, during the civil war. Too many families on both sides can tell you stories of loved ones who went out during that period and never came back. Psychological wounds are the hardest to heal. ![]() That patience that you claim the Igbos do not have in order to wait for a restructuring, I pray they seek and find it. As that may eventually be the route they would use, to actualise their dreams. ![]() |
truefact:How many governors in other parts of the country have repaired federal roads, and then turned round to claim the money back from the federal govt? Ask Fashola how he repaired majority of the federal roads in his state. ![]() |
after1:Ignore him. You know some people are so filled with hate, that it makes them unable to do anything constructive with their lives. |
And they should remove that word "Christian" from the name of the proposed country i.e. Christian Democratic Republic of Biafra (CDRB). There is nothing 'Christian' about the venom they pour on other tribes. There is nothing 'Christian' about the hate-filled speeches they use to villify those who do not share their point of view. There is nothing 'Christian' about the words they use to describe Nigeria, the homeland of several other ethnic groups, whose members are also Christians and children of God. |
NOBODYY:Now they have turned to prophecies to support their quest. O di egwu! Even T.B Joshua that could not foretell the collapse of the buildings in his church, is being quoted to back up their mission. ![]() All I know is that those who do not remember the past, are condemned to repeat it. They should NOT forget that they suffered defeat, at the hands of the federal forces. So getting their nation by means of war, should be ruled out. They should seek peaceful ways of getting what they want. ![]() |
madenigga:Guy, obviously you did not read through my previous exchange to Anachy, which made him tag me as an Edo person when I am not one. Your brother EasternLion jumped in to re-echo his deceitful comments. You too have blindly stepped in to accuse me of being an Igbo hating persona, simply because I took objection to their comments and called Anachy a nitwit? ![]() How does calling a single person known as Anachy, a nitwit - who is not even Igbo by the way, translate into being an Igbo hater?? Who is a persona non grata, here?? Have you just learnt that word?? |
OfoIgbo:The part in bold, refers. The generation born after 1970 exists in all tribes. Like those of the Igbo, the after-1970 generation among other ethnic groups are also highly resourceful educationally, materially and otherwise. Some of them have even served with the armed forces of other countries, due to the fact that they were born in those foreign lands even though their parents have Nigerian heritage, through which they got their own identity. And I tell you, some of them are not going to be as patient with the Igbo, as their forbears have been. They are not going to cajole the Igbo to have 2nd thoughts about remaining in Nigeria. And for everything the after-1970 Igbo generation throw at them, they are ready to dish it right back, in spades. They are also going to wonder why they and their ethnic group are being blamed for a war that ended over 45 years ago, whose dramatis personae are long dead. They are wondering why the Igbo are unable to let go of the past, and move ahead in the task of nation-building. They are also wondering why the Igbo keep manipulating other ethnic groups as scapegoats for their woes, when among the Igbo, their own people have done far more to betray them and unleash havoc on their communities, than other outsiders have done.A lot of people (both Igbo and non-Igbo) have not made enough efforts to push through for a restructuring of Nigeria, or to even insist on accountability from our leaders. Under GEJ, a constitutional conference was held which addressed the various issues facing our people. ![]() How much effort is being made to get the present govt to implement that report? I stood tall as a Nigerian, during the Enough-is-Enough protests in early 2012 when Nigerians from all works of life came out en masse, to march against the proposed increases in fuel price. Our govt listened and retracted their steps. Can we all reach across the divide again in the same manner, to request that our country be better run in a way that we want?? ![]() |
anachy:That 'juju' you made reference to, is the one you have been cooking in your backyard. May it consume you without further delay. For the last time, I am NOT Edo! May God punish you one million times, if you repeat that lie of yours'. |
EasternLionn:I am going to ask you the same question I asked that nitwit: Provide proof to show that Laudate is Edo. Every correct answer gets 20 marks. Am waiting!! ![]() |
anachy:You need a brain transplant!! For the very last time... I am not Edo, Benin or any such thing! Get this into your thick skull!! |
