bigfrancis21: Yes. Very much sure you can. The sending of GRE/TOEFL scores to schools is not by paper but electronic ie ETS simply uploads your results to the electronic database of the recipient school, which the school can easily access anytime they want, be it result from 5 years ago.My good man, Thank u again. I hope you won't mind if I have your contacts. So that I can just contact you for my questions. U've been much more than google. |
Please I need to know if one can request for toefl/gre scores to be sent to grad schools even without making a formal application yet to the schools. Reason being that I will be taking the tests soon and am not sure if schools have allowed access to their portals for 2015 fall. Please I would need you guys to dig deep from your bank of experience to help out as I do not intend to waste the four slots ets naturally send the test scores to by virtue of taking the tests due to my naivity. BigFrancis21 and MsNas. Thanks |
Please who can recommend a school for MSC Chemical Engineering in the US with a moderate tuition. I have a 2.8/4 GP and taking the GRE/TOEFL soon. |
osahons9: Use usnews dot com to check for the acceptance rates for the listed schools n more. Embassy has nothing to do with the schools. Also check for accreditation of these schools at abet dot orgThank you Osahon. Am on it. |
Joenice: Hello, if truly you read a lot of previous pages, then you wouldn't have asked some bizarre questions. Spoon-feeding is totally fragile and uncalled for. The impetus of it is that it makes you lazy. Please pencil down some schools and ask if they're okay, by doing that, we'll know you're not an apostle of spoon-feeding :-)Joenice, it might be quite difficult to engage all the pages of the forum because of time. In our capacity let us help out with questions we have the answers to instead of tongue lashing JJCS like the luckydon there with words like 'lazy'. Please ehn. Thanks |
Please does any one know the acceptance rates and Embassy take on Lamar University, Beaumont TX, and Texas a & m kinsgville.(shortlisted my applications to these 2 schools) Looking at Chemical Engineering MSC. Opinions would be appreciated. I hop e am not asking too many questions o. Happy Sunday. |
bigfrancis21: You obtained 2.776 after translation? Please recheck your calculation. Someone I know with 2.38/5.0 CGPA had 2.7/4.0 after conversion. Yours should be above 2.7766.Thanks Francis. Atleast I now know my GP range to prepare my application on the 4. Scale. I will have WES translate it officially to be congrous with what I have. Those standardised tests are the next obstacle. Thanks once again. |
bigfrancis21: Even if you convert it yourself, it is only for your records and for your certainty that your CGPA meets the stated requirement whuch will serve as the boost you need to bolster you on to apply for masters. Any school that needs WES translation will still require it directly from WES, not from the individual. So you still need WES translation for official purposes while your translation is for your own records.Did my translation. I determined a 2.776. So even if I translate my transcript, it's not my jurisdiction to send it to the intending schools but as a reference just to know officially it's equivalent. Innit? Again can a 2.776 be determined as a 2.8? (a school am looking into state their GP requirement as 2.6, hence am looking at 2.8 to be on the safe side). I apologise for my dilletantish questions o. They say when you ask you can not loose your directions. :d |
bigfrancis21: Its easy to do. You know how to calculate cgpa ordinarily right? The only difference is changing the points for A, B, C, D, E and F. Every other thing remains the same. How can I thank you enough?. I am reeling with gratitude. I've thought about this for almost 2 years now. One more thing, do I still have to evaluate my GP with WES?. Having known how to convert the GP. Is it necessary anymore is my question?. Or can I just apply directly with my Nigerian CGP?. Again Thanks |
bigfrancis21: @bold...no. That's wrong. I converted 2 friends' transcripts to the american scale using WES conversion method. The first one had 3.09/5.0 and after conversion he had 3.11/4.0 and the other person had 2.99/5.0 and after conversion had 3.01/4.0.Thanks BigFrancis. Question is how do I convert mine to the WES scale. Don't mind if u can guide me through that. I used the iGPA module on WES.org and it couldn't get it to send the equivalent 4.0 GP into my email. Typing those things into the rectangles was quite tedious. So I didn't bother trying again. Are you indirectly saying I shouldn't lose sleep over the GP thing as it isn't bad as I thought provided you ace the GRE, have good recommendations and a strong letter of intent (SOP). Please o am a JJC onto American systems of education. Tutor me biko. Cheers |
DanjaNinja: For Nova, Mahanttan and Grubber 2015 edition, Send a blank mail to selfstudy.version2@gmail.com. You can get the remainder by sending a blank mail to selfstudy360@gmail.comDone that! |
MsNas: Nope. Your GPA shouldn't be 2.4/4.0. If I can take a wild guess, it should be around 2.9-3.0/4.0. I will advise you to try WES out. The give the best evaluations. For schools that offer your course, check out schools in Southern America. Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee and so on.MsNas, Please I want to know how the WES thing works. What is it and how do I get it? (PS please don't get my hopes up o. My emotions already over the roof). |
ocmorale: For those who need GRE & TOEFL materials, I have the e-copies of kaplan, barons, manhattan, cracking the Gre 2013, grubber 2013, gre math bible(nova), ETS official guide for both gre & TOEFl. I am very ready to copy them out to anyone who needs it for free. Preferably for those in Abuja cos I can't upload them. They are heavy files. Thanks.Abuja alone?. Haba. Share the love to Lagos too. |
wiseman2392: @launreyErm. For GRE Manhattan GRE Barron Gruber's Magoosh (so I hear) For TOEFL/IELTS I hear online materials help But I think British Council sells some materials for practise if u registering with them (not sure though. Please confirm). Cheers. |
wiseman2392: good day in the house, pls can people here enlight on this: i am graduate of pure and applied Chemistry witht a GPA 4.15. please i really want to know much about what score do i need to get in GRE and TOEFL to place me on a good chance to qualify me for admission and scholarship. thanks shall be waiting for reply soonestBro. It depends on the school and the intending program requirement. But with that GP I think you are on a good standing to get admitted say you have a >310 GRE and a IELTS of 6.0 and above in addition to good recommendation and strong statement of purpose(letter of intent). Believe! |
olusola009: I want you to know that GPA alone doesn't give one admission, everythin works all together(GPA, STATEMENT OF PURPOSE,RECOMMENDATION LETTER, GRE) just as you have said low GPA, low GPA must be accompanied with good ST, RL and very good GRE score. Again you have to work on school search, there are some schools that accept 2.7/4.0 some school that request GPA of 3.0/4.0 might even accept you conditionally. So don't be discourage apply to schools.Thank you Olusola. Say I have a good ST, RL. What will a good GRE score be?. And please do you know any schools with good acceptance rates. Maybe I could start from there. |
Hello house. Please I have a GP of 3.04/5.0 (I think that's a 2.4/4.0 on the American scale). I know that this is quite low. But I hear it's not impossible to get a graduate school in the US. My lecturers have promised to help write good recommendations, and I will be taking the GRE soon hoping to get good scores and the IELTS too. Please I have looked into the admission requirements of most grad schools in different states at the US and generally a 3.0/4.0 is advisable. I need nairalanders to help me identify schools that it's probable to get admitted. A MSC degree in Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering are my interests.(i had my undergraduate in Chemical Engineering) Thanks. |
Past questions please anybody. Please email me. Akinremidavidolanrewaju@gmail.com Cheers. |
Jayloy: I went to a graduate school where i learnt to speak french and later travelled to benin republic for six weeks for emersion program. Cajetan speaks: Message to FG : NYSC is a total waste of time and our nation's scarce resources. Time to scrap NYSC is now..I disagree sir. A perfect avenue to serve you fatherland. It has its challenges but a review/ammendment of the corps would just be perfect. Don't you think? |
xtus: Goto/call maple and asked from them if its late to start. As for me u still on track!!!!!Thank you so much. I am grateful. Will do that now. PS please do you know colleges that are Chemical Engineering related. I would like to have some options as against putting all eggs into just Conestoga. Thanks once again mate. |
Hello house, I have read some of the posts, and they've been enlightening, (thanks ). I then decided to speak. Please would anyone know if starting my application process at Maple now for PGD in Conestoga (environmental engineering) is late for Sept Window. I still would like to start the program this year. Thank you. And any additional information would be appreciated. Once again osheeey |
) or be denied admission totally.
