Career / Re: Female Marketer Vs Her Client by laurette82(f): 11:55am On Jul 10, 2009
And besides,as a marketer you should[s][/s]must look good always. The reason being that you as the marketer is the representative of the bank outside.Even in developed countries marketer are always drop dead gorgeous, whatever industry they represent so why should Nigera be diffefent.
What we should be fighing for is that strict laws should be made against sexual harrassments by prospects/customers.

A colleague of mine was constatntly harrassed by a prospect even though she was married and was 7months pregnant!!In that situation would you say that the lady was trying to seduce the prospect?

And whoever said that its only female marketers that are harrassed by customers? Another colleague (though in another bank) got constantly harrassed by a female customer thru text messages and all.The lady is married to a wealthy man with 3 children.Sometimes he got invites to parties in Abuja and London by this female customer of his.

We have also seen cases where marketers meet thier spouses in the course of the job. So,like every other job, banking(marketing) has got its ups and downs. We just have to make the most of what we have.

Dear poster,
You did not indicate the industry you work in.There are a lot of jobless people in this site so they just go about ranting trash in the name of giving advice.
I`m a marketer in a bank and i know that its not all deals you`ll need even though you want to win them.Customers know the stress and pressures marketers face everyday so they play on your inteligence and see if you`ll fall.
My advice is that you should weigh your options,if its something you feel you can forego, then let it be.You`ll get another one.But if you are hell bent on getting the deal, then i`ll suggest you carry your superiors along.Never see the prospect alone. And make sure that your superior also gets very involved so that you can get the load off your chest.
For all you care, the customer might not even have intentions of doing business with you. So,girl, apply wisdom so that you dont lose the trust of those who love you.
Be wise. wink

@Lizarazo,please tell them o.
Am very sure that those criticizing banker or bank workers as the case may be are jobless or just sitting down somewhere wondering what its like to work in a bank.
My advise, please look for something doing instead of wasting your time.

Bank talk again?

Nairalanders, una no dey tire to biff bankers?
Where is it written that you MUST work in a bank?
There are oil companies all over the country.
Embassies,telecom companies,one man businesses everywhere.
You dont have to take a banking job even if you have left school for over 10 yrs
and all you keep getting are bank offers.
Keep hoping and praying that before you are 70yrs old,God will bring you
an oil company job,abi.
Pls leave the job for those who want to do it.
Afterall, its not aliens from Mars that will work in our banks.

STOP THE BIFF!!!!

@ Seunallday, thanks for that direct but true reply.
Bankers (including yours trully) are not claiming to have the most peacefull and rewarding job we they have to make a living.

If you think that you are not enjoying your job as a banker, please resign and let other get emplyed. There are millions of unemplyed, able, intelligent young men and women who would kill to get their hands on the least paying bank job.

Don`t forget that an idle mind is the devil`s workshop.

@ poster.
I realy don`t know what the big issue is about bankers and their job.
I havent seen anyone who can say that he or she is trully satisfied with his or her job.The whole thing is begining to sound like biff.

I have worked in a bank for three years now and i have realised that unless you dont know what you are doing, you can get yourself a good life with he job pending on when you decide to set up your own business. And dont forget that you can never be rich by being an employee, banks, oil company or telecomms.Unless you have your own business you have no tendencies of ever being wealthy.

About the issue of targets,i have never heard or seen anyone who was sacked because he/she didnt meet his or her target. The worst you get is salary cut or non payment of productivity bonuses.

And even in the so called telecomms firms, there has been recent MASSIVE job cuts in the industry. For example,ZAIN sacked a whooping 300 staff just a few weeks ago.So would you say that they didnt meet their targets also,

I dont see anything colossally wrong with banking work.I know people who started and ended their careers as bankers and they didnt die.

Our economy is bad enough.Other industries recrruit in bits but banks conduct massive recruitments because of the expansions going on.if you are lucky you, get a not marketing post, but if you dont, you do your best while trying for something else.

So in case you have been at home after service for a long time and you have been turning down banking work with the hope of getting an oil company job, think of what you would have done for yourself with all the wasted time,

A word is enuf for the wise,
