HustlaOfLagos: Well, they are free to make changes as they deem fit so far it appeals to their base. It's all politics at the end of the day and the populace will vote for one who seems to tackle what they deem most important.
I am just waiting for the full implementation of the 10 year route so everything is final. I would honestly like to see who else they will blame after all is said and done.
They blamed EU and left
Students have gotten stick Legal immigrants have gotten stick Illegal ones have gotten some too
..Maybe they will point at the US and Canada next They are pointing at China now They said secret state info was stolen. |

RodgersAkpafu: As someone who had a short stint in secondary school classroom experience when I was hustling as a student those days, I have seen FIRST HAND that UK secondary schools are way better
Especially the ones under very good Trusts
Your child will come out a well grounded and rounded child because what they are actually getting IS AN EDUCATION
Not the crap we think is education that we parade in secondary schools in Nigeria, where kids are bereft of critical thinking, but lean too much on rote memorisation
Pls dont even get me started lol Rich Chinese ppl are even sending their kids to come do secondary school and A levels here as a transition path to Russell group university education Same for Russians (tho I am more familiar with Chinese) La cram la pour 🤣 |

Fair enough. The bedrock of my post is as Erigga go talk am “ because e work for mr A like that no mean say e go work for mr B like that. Stay hard HustlaOfLagos: Again, I will always say "Excuses are easy"
Lots of people got that soft landing and still didn't do anything with it. A lot of students didn't get any soft landing but they researched before coming, right skills to seek etc
There is no excuse in today's digital age not to get basic information or do research before embarking on a life changing endeavour like relocating and leaving your comfort zone. People like Chidera Peters were sharing tips to select courses, write academic stuff and get distinction as far back as 2021 but our people were outsourcing their classwork and projects to Nigerians, not knowing that this will likely reflect on their ability to make something out of the degree in the job market.
Hell, Nairaland dey there for all your questions. ChatGPT can map everything for you and even give you solid advice that you can run with and see results regardless of the industry you are but excuses are easy
I remember when Justwise was giving free advice on this forum, especially on the student thread, the people e dey try give advice, them even insult am join |

Imagine a student who came into the country single and stays with sister rent free. That sister works in corporate industry, she has made plans for him to choose the right course that will easily get him a job upon graduation while also enrolling him on other External courses like P2 making him job ready. She also paid 50% of his fees. All the said student did was to focus squarely on his academics. He graduated with flying colours acquring the a degree that is much sort after in the industry. his sister prep him for interview as she is in the industry and knows the nitty gritty of getting a job. I.e knowledge of crafting cv and sites to apply on. At the end of the day he got a job with sponsorship. That same person will see you doing care job and look down on you and make statements like you are not upskilling and you are not doing enough. person wey get soft landing plus right guidance go think say others no dey try or they are not applying pressure. Nigerians go whyne you na you go use your head. By all means if you can upgrade your skill do that at your own pace and do whatever you can to remain legal. Age is a huge factor. No go dey compare yourself with 25yrs old with no kids with 35 yrs with 2 kids or even someone who came in as a MD or with professional sponsorship. Motivation is free na you go tailor am to suite your individual circumstances. Stay hard! oluwaleokey: Oga I want to believe you are also a politician (9ja + UK) You have succeeded in confusing you . Anyways I admire your writing skills and illustrations. I can partially agree with you when it comes to aged single bachelors however for a men in their early 40's with family+kids? Ordinary changing kids school within same locality could impact them let alone moving countries, perhaps different languages, culture, society, system etc u go know how far be that
E get age way man go reach like this, u go understand better say obodo oyibo nah obodo oyibo o, as long u see fine fine houses, roads, environment, white oyibo and most especially the foreign currency, otito! |

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/oct/01/starmer-to-end-asylum-golden-ticket-of-resettlement-and-family-reunion-rights
People granted asylum will no longer be given “the golden ticket” of resettlement and family reunion rights, Keir Starmer said, amid deepening concerns from charities that his words are demonising refugees...
No 10 outlined plans to strip successful claimants of the right to automatically invite spouses and children to join them...
The new policies are meant to ensure that people who have been granted asylum will receive less protection than they currently receive, a government source said."
Proposed changes later this year to Article 3 and Article 8 of the ECHR will make it tougher for asylum seekers to win their appeals in court, and allow the government enforce removals to their home countries. Good one |

HustlaOfLagos: The same kids will blame you if you do not do it for them (I know cos I blamed my parents for not leaving when they had the chance to)
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it btw. As for me, I must collect one pali before heading back home. Hell, I might even decide Nigeria is not worth it and instead head to Portugal, Mauritius or Namibia. Kids can always be sent home to attend secondary sch and maybe Uni so they do not lose connection to their roots.
Look at the state of Nigeria, does it look like a country that knows where it's going? I mean, look at the Arise TV news lady that died some days ago, service users and dogs get better treatment here.

Let us focus please!
It is indeed a starting point for lots of people. My housemate, a staunch UK supporter and lover had to leave for the US 2 weeks to his UK post study ending. He has married now, gotten a well paying tech job and is heading towards PR while we are still here debating 10 year routes and if immigrants should get citizenship in 100 or 200 years

Jamesclooney: Bros, wake up and smell the roses. US: right now, even tougher on immigration than the UK.
Canada: meh… job market for newcomers isn’t great.
Australia: no idea personally, but too far from Naija for me anyway.
Bottom line: immigrants are running out of options! the whole we be world citizen na nonsense. Hopping from one country to another looking for best life isn’t sustainable. If you continue running one day there will be null option left but to look back and head home. Some will say they are doing it for their kids whom most of the time won’t care about you as soon as they are on their own. If you can japa pls do but it’s not sustainable and it’s becoming a lot difficult. Even Au have their own far right advocating for their country back. |

Good morning.
Once again, make Una dey on guard.
Just a reminder. Stop telling us to build Nigeria they said, we don’t want to hear it they said. No worry Nigel and the true owner of the land go remind you 👇🏾 He explained: "We will not only say that these people do not qualify for indefinite leave to remain, we will abolish indefinite leave to remain as a category in this country." The Reform UK leader said the anticipated cost of the more than 800,000 people expected to qualify for leave to remain in the next three years is £230 billion, what he described as a “truly eye-watering sum of money.” |

Zahra29: It doesn't mean anything yet, it's simply a point-in- time indication of how the public might vote if the GE was held today. However the next GE is not for another 4 years.
It does have some significance for the government however, because if the polling trajectory continues, it is possible that Farage might be elected PM in 2029, or at least be in a position to form a coalition government. If election holds today He will be the next prime minister. |
