My shame is that Nigeria is blessed with some of the best and most talented population in Africa, thanks to its large & young population size.
It is a shame that in the one that rose to the pinnacle of british politics is not the brightest one in the pack. Many have forgotten and they will learn the hard way. They want to be white so bad. |

It may surpass the figure I gave because whom U give my tell another; yeah, but let’s keep it that way until I return here to announce that I need those WIILLING to be Tradies….elect/plumb & must “reside in London”(I will tell them why).
They must be willing and may be sacrificing shifts for this particular purpose at some point, otherwise people tends to play with anything that is free.
The aim is to get people out of security jobs and into skill jobs. |

No sensible government will do that. They will take their jobs elsewhere and that’s it your jobs gone. |

UK IMMIGRATION CHANGES FROM TODAY.
Today is one of the most serious changes to UK immigration rules in recent years, with further crucial changes following on 29th July.
How is it going to affect some immigrants?
Immediate Impact from today the - 22nd July 2025.
Skilled Workers will be hit badly:
• Skilled Workers minimum qualification requirements moves to degree level (RQF Level 6 equivalent to a bachelor’s degree)
• 100 plus occupation codes scrapped - care workers, hospitality roles, logistics, health support staff and others no longer eligible
• Salary threshold raised from £38700 to £41,700. • Social Care Worker route permanently closed to new applicants. • Supplementary work severely restricted - degree-level roles only
You will need to have a degree to get many roles in the UK. It will be back to school for many.
Further Changes from 29 July 2025
• Private Life settlement expanded for "half-life test" candidates
• UK-born children face stricter continuous residence tests
• Crown Dependencies residence now counts towards UK qualifying periods |

RodgersAkpafu: Better to pin it as that .Because yall have nothing sensible to say.
If I didn't know women who have been at the short end of the stick on matters pertaining to this, I wouldn't be too pissed about it
Kemi own as much as I like her, her own is getting too MUCH BUT THE POINT SHE RAISED IS VALID Stop using words like y’all or una and stop posting anything that has to do with Nigeria. The real owners of the platform are saying you should not. Abide of get blocked 🚫 🤣 |

Goke7: You think it’s harmless but others don’t see it like that. Try to be considerate it’s not that hard. I can decide to be posting here about davido and wizkid shebi it’s a Nigerian affair too but will it make sense here? That’s why nairaland has different sections for different things. Kindly post in the right section, that’s the polite request! Shey na everyday I dey post am. Abi you carry me for mind b4 Tel me, So where do we draw the line as you know more than I do? Goke7: Just an advice, @willyede is right about you going to the politics section if you want to talk more about fixing naija, I go there to comment about naija politics as well so it’s nothing strange or personal. This thread is where folks come here to discuss primarily about life in the uk and ask questions to address issues concerning the uk, I don’t think if anyone comes and see things about fixing Nigeria on this thread that will make sense of any relevance. The politics section is wide enough to express all your views there and even the things we comment on here that relate to immigration views expressed by uk politicians, topics are opened there as well where you can use such opportunity to express the reason why fixing naija is important. Yes some of us may tolerate or accommodate such things here but looks like others may just see it as annoying especially when they feel the politics section is there to accommodate such so why not focus more on life pertaining to the uk which is the main subject of this thread. Thank you! Just a harmless post about fixing your country brought out so many triggers and you had to write this essay. You can’t make this thing up. When next you see a post you don’t like hop on the next one and stop giving yourself unnecessary heartache. Ire oo |

willyede: Am not Una...I do not need to comment on post here i come here to learn how to survive in the uk of which that is what this thread is for. I have noticed that whenever there is a dig at immigrant you come here with your hypocritical Nationshaming dig at Nigerians ''to make Nigeria a better place''. I will speak for myself when i say whatever happens to Nigeria is Nigeria's business but you Nationshaming people here would be called out...If you do not see anything wrong in that Kemi's statement then its best you keep quiet and let those that are helping in the thread continue to do so...I am really out for you cos you have been doing this a lot and i am very surprised that the mods have not tamed this nationshaming attitude of yours. It’s a Nigerian group I can post stuff about Nigeria. If you are triggered you can look away it’s not every post you engage with. E say he is really out for me. Bro I don’t even know you. If you don’t like a post scroll to the next I’m not here to please you. |

You have never commented on any post on here but post about better naija you write epistle. You go dey alright las las abi no be so? |

willyede: You keep insisting that “we will fix the nation.” I have no expectation that Nigeria will be transformed within my lifetime and am not interested in pursuing that goal. If rebuilding the country is your priority, please do so on the ground in Nigeria.
This thread is for immigrants living in the United Kingdom, not for political debates. My focus here is on handling the challenges we face abroad, not on discussing national reform.
If you wish to campaign for Nigeria’s renewal, the political section of Nairaland is the proper venue. Remember that two Nigerian presidents: Abubakar and Buhari both treated in the United Kingdom and died had years to effect change and did not. Kindly spare us the rhetoric here. These are the issues they hate to hear or want a better a better a Nigeria/ Africa 🤣 |

Goke7: This is how the falsehood of Nigeria granting US citizens only single entry visas spread like wildfire, but why is Nigeria becoming a target these days with blatant falsehood and propaganda by the west, Is there a gang up against the country, I know our sins are plenty but make dem take am easy with these lies na Omo na wa o!
If Madam kemi doesn’t want Nigerian citizenship for her children that’s fine but she doesn’t need to lie to incite hatred against Nigeria. Youna go fix that country by force seh 🤣 |

Hkana: There's nothing remotely funny about that. Everyone is entitled to their reason for japa, shouldn't be something to mock about. I don say I no go do back and forth with folks on this faceless platform. I can give my opinion and you spin it to suit your own personal narrative even if that’s not what I meant… and that’s totally 👍🏿 One thing I have realised is in this country is that you don’t actually own your kids, the government does and they decide what’s best for them. Mock someone for losing their kids is something I won’t do. I hope the kids are allowed home safe to their parents 🙏🏿 |

You see all these kids that we spend huge resources on in the name of a better life, hmmm, no wonder many are sending them back home in Nigeria or Africa to school, where oraimo cord will reset their brains for real with no government interference. Even sending them home isn’t easy. There must be valid reason. I laugh at all them those I’m doing it for my kids that’s why I japa 🤣 |

Zahra29: Another massive Uturn from Starmer on his flagship Welfare bill. Two Uturns in the space of 1 week, that have effectively neutered the bill, all in a desperate bid to avoid a humiliating defeat in the vote.
His own MPs have called the process "unedifying" ,"shambolic", "incoherent" etc
...and now tax rises are very likely to be announced in the Autumn budget statement to make up the £5bn shortfall from the welfare bill....(Assuming there isn't a shuffle before then to replace Reeves and/or Kendall).
Terrible optics just 1 year after a huge electoral win. It looks like they had more slogans than they had actual plans.
Hopefully Starmer and co will reflect on what went wrong and the right lessons will be learned. Uk is broke. Where are they going to find the money? |

Zahra29: They don't have to scrutinise 25 million naturalised citizens, just the ones who fall under their radar because they've committed one or more offences on the "priority list ".
They've apparently already denaturalised one British American citizen, possibly white, so it's real and feasible.
Lesson is that a naturalised citizen can now be denaturalised, and fairly easily too it seems. Youna dey see why I say make we fix Africa bah. Time go tell |
