Religion / Re: Is Salvation By Works Or God's Mercy? Jesus Vs Paul! by lawbabs: 10:33pm On Aug 24
AntiChristian:

It's either God saves you by his mercy or by works. The criminal from Luke didn't have any works. So one of the theory is false!

Also the blind Jesus told was forgiven had no works!

Abeg leave those theory, those scriptures was collated independent of one another! Even the scriptures of Paul became more prominent same time as Mathew and co!

You are repeating what I said. It is by mercy you are saved. Your works are dead. It is only in Christ that you have living work. Your work only counts when you have been saved by the sure mercies of the Lord. Any work done outside of Christ is filthy rag before God.

When have you guys been saying the Lord will return soon?

Even the Bible records John, Jesus and others saying it about 2000 years ago!

And it's possible you'll die before anything happens!

Theory too much!

It's possible I die before his return. But don't forget he will judge both the living and the dead. You better make your way right before Him.
Religion / Re: Is Salvation By Works Or God's Mercy? Jesus Vs Paul! by lawbabs: 7:03am On Aug 24
AntiChristian:
Jesus says:
Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?
(Matthew 27:21-22)

Paul's guy Luke reported that Jesus answered saying: “Work hard to enter the narrow door to God’s Kingdom, for many will try to enter but will fail. (Luke 13:24)

Jesus emphasizes doing the will of the father as a condition to enter the Kingdom of heaven!

Paul says
For He says to Moses: “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” So then, it does not depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. (Romans 9:15-16)

Paul says it's by God's mercy oooooooooo!

Is it by God's mercy or by doing God's will aka works? cool

That scripture is higher than your mind can carry. It is by mercy you are saved for no one can come to God except God draws him to himself. That was why even though we were many friends who were preached to but only I submitted to the Lordship of Christ at the very time I gave my life to Christ. Am I better than them? No! Why did I make the choice, and those friends didn't? Mercy found me because God drew me.

It is only when you have been drawn to Christ that you now have the capacity to obey God.

This is stale news!

The first few couple of decades after Jesus the Bible does doesn't exist as it is now!

How were people saved?

Enough with this Holy spirit interpretation nonsense! Each books of the Bible were written separately and then collated later according to the whims and caprices of some so-called church fathers! Other books they don't want were simply rejected!

Don't take that out of context also. There are clear basis for rejecting other books. The criteria for accepting any book for canonization of the scriptures and the three elements that guided the church elders at that time include:

1. Church leaders often appealed to the agreement of the book with what they called “the rule of faith.” This meant that the teaching of the book followed the beliefs the church regarded as acceptable and correct.

2. The book had to demonstrate apostolicity. This criterion required authorship by an apostle or by the associate of an apostle (as in the instance of Mark and Luke).

3. The church applied the test of universality. This required that the book be accepted by a broad geographical segment of the church.

Yes there were many good books but could not fit into these three yardsticks.

Thanks
The Lord will return soon! Will you be ready?

All this Christian no normal at all
Did you know if satan apologize to God at the last moment but he stil throw am out u no ask urself why ?
Isreal get enemy
God favorite country

I really get your point but the truth is for a Christian, if you don't forgive anyone regardless of their offense, it's a sign that you have surrendered completely to the Authority of Christ. You are still in charge of your life, despite knowing that God pulled you through the hard times. And remember vengeance belongs to Him.

This is how I quickly let people off in my heart: I ask the question - Am I willing to point a gun at the offender? Answer is No. Am I sure that God will reward everyone who have wrongly worked against me? Yes he will. So if I keep getting angry and unwilling to forgive, how does that deal with the person? No way! I just let go, and let God.

You can forgive and stay away from the person if you are unsure of the person's motive. But to not forgive is a trouble you don't want to go to hell for.

The last habit is the brothel habit I have lit it but still go there once a while .

Helpe Thank God quiting this addition is not an easy feat

Hmmmm! It's not gone! It's because you have found solace in prostitutes. There is a spirit helping you to keep the addiction. If you want to break free from it completely, you need to cry to Jesus to save you. The power in the name of Jesus can set you free completely if you genuinely repent and ask the power of God to break every bondage of sexual and self indulging perversions in your life.

Education / Re: University Student Praying On Roof Before Exam (pix) by lawbabs: 1:01pm On Mar 21

And what is wrong praying over exams?

Does the prayers stop him from reading?

Nothing is wrong obviously! and nothing there says he is not reading for his exam. But I am speaking to the misleading context of the thread. The thread seams to focus on a gentleman praying on the rooftop, but the ridiculous post suggests that the prayer is directed at passing exam, rather than prepare for exam. So i am asking a clear question... is there anywhere in the video, where we can get a clue that that is what he was praying about? None!

At the beginning of the AFCON competition, I saw Ivory coast beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria by two goals to one. When they first met at the group stage, Ekong scored his first penalty in the tournament that gave Super Eagles victory. Now that they will meet again in the finals on Sunday 11th February, what I saw may come to pass. I saw Super Eagles loosing alot of chances and Ivory Coast converting their chances to goals which made Ivory Coast eventually wins.

What I saw concerning this final can be influenced.

Super Eagles can prove me wrong anyway.

Politics / Re: Reno Omokiri Is A Poor Student Of Nigerian History, Decree 34 & Aburi Accord by lawbabs: 2:33am On Dec 30, 2023
gidgiddy:
I read what Reno Omokiri said about Decree 34, Decree 8 and the Aburi accord, and wonder why this guy keeps pushing out false narratives? Is he such a poor student of Nigerian history or is this deliberate?

Reno Omokri said that Ironsi abrogated Regional rule, seized the resources of the Regions with Decree 34, the same old lie that has been told for decades. Why cant Reno Google Decree 34 and read what is in there? There were 4 Regions when Ironsi came in, the same 4 Regions were there the day he was killed, so which Region(s) did Ironsi abrogate? Decree 34 was nothing more than a civil service decree, at no time did Ironsi tamper with the boundaries of the 4 Regions that existed at the time, nor did he deny them resource control

If Reno wants to know who really abrogated Regional rule in Nigeria, let him Google Gowons Decree 14 that abolished all 4 Regions Nigeria had,and created 12 states in their stead, as well as Decree 15 that ended resource control of the Regions

The Reno Omokiri pitifully tried to defend Gowon over the Aburi accord, claiming that Gowon had to renege on the Aburi agreement because Ojukwu announced the agreement first, rather than let Gowon do it. Has this Reno guy lost his senses? When you sign an agreement, it becomes binding, who announced the agreement first is irrelevant

Ojukwu signed an agreement in front of the President of Ghana, General Joe Ankrah, the three other military Governors of the time also signed, but the reason Reno is giving why Gowon could not implement what was signed was that on return to Nigeria, Ojukwu announced the agreement first?

Reno Omokri is a laughable character

You are also very inaccurate with your record. He may have exaggerated facts but you have misappropriated facts in a bid to derail his submission. For instance, Reno never said Ironsi tampered with boundaries. But it's a known facts that Ironsi tampered with how the regions are administered, which affected the Exclusive, Concurrent, and Residual list.

Travel / Re: Lagos To Abuja Flight Ticket Should Cost ₦250k – Airline Operators by lawbabs: 9:31am On Aug 24, 2023
ShortBiscuit:
Why is it that a currency ($) that Nigeria doesn't own nor print keeps having such an insane influence on our local economy??

Because for the sixty-something years of independence, we have not been able to transform our economy into a production-based system. Even in sectors where we produce, production equipment is sourced from abroad. Also, we employ expatriates to guide in the operations of such equipment. We have not built capacity in our people, and we have not built a sustainable system that ensures that the daily needs of our countrymen do not require importation.

Even the toothpick you use is imported from China. An Average Nigerian stands up with expensive clothing (be it native or corporate), the shoe is imported, the shirts or atiku material, or Ankara imported, the belt is imported, the wrist watch imported, the glasses are imported, the perfume is imported, the only thing local maybe who sowed the clothing.

So it's a long chain of dependence on imports. To move away, it has to be a conscious and deliberate effort from the government and the people. It will take more than 15 years to structurally reverse this order with biting sacrifices on the part of the people. Some of the structural reversal initiatives include the revamp of technical education in Nigeria, the revival of Ajaokuta Steel, the review of the engineering curriculum to make it a more practical and deliberate investment in critical engineering and technical manufacturing (particularly the manufacturing of machines, chips, batteries, electric equipment, etc). These are the foundations of manufacturing. So that any manufacturing enterprise can go to a university to design the engineering side of things, and take it to machinery factories to produce the machines required for manufacturing. It is a long way to go... I am not sure we have those visionary leaders, who will not look at only immediate gains but long-term structural reversal of import dependency.

Politics / Re: Out Of 3 Regions At Independence , Only One Agreed To A Plebiscite by lawbabs: 1:08am On Jul 02, 2023
DomPerignon:
A few years to independence, there was a great clamour by minority peoples wedged under the suffocating embrace of the "Big Three" nationalities to have their own respective regions carved out from the three existing regions.

The British only considered the plight of Western Cameron who argued that they were never part of Nigeria until after WW1 when they were partitioned from German Cameron by both the British and French following the Treaty of Versailles.

The fate of the other three conglomerate minority groups were ignored by the British and told to sort themselves out in a post colonial Nigeria.

These three heterogenous minority movements were:

1. The Middle-Belt movement

2. The Mid-West movement

3. The Calabar-Ogoja-Rivers movement.

Out of these three , only one succeeded in being granted autonomy and that was the Mid-West region.

The Middle-Belt and COR movement agitations were vehmently struck down by their respective northern and eastern parliaments.

Sir Ahmadu Bello of the northern region had already spelt out his Fulani agenda for his inherited colonial territory and had sworn to restart his grand father's jihad to convert the then so-called pagan provinces of the middle belt to Islam and total subjugation to the Sokoto Khalifate. The Sardunna defended all his desperate moves to frustrate and quash the minority agitation to be granted leave from the north by asserting that the so-called pagan provinces were his to conquer. He even coined a phrase that was until Buhari's second misadventure , very popular in the north which was "one north".

As for the most restive and most divisive region to the East, all attempts by minority groups in the COR movement to be granted leave from the colonial lumped assembly fell on similar deaf ears .

But to the west , a referendum was granted and a plebiscite reached by the minorities to leave the then western region.

The motion for a plebiscite was even moved by a Yoruba parliamentarian first in Ibadan and after the decision was reached read on the floor of the federal parliament by another Yoruba parliamentarian.

So why out of three regions , why was it only the Yoruba dominated western region that heeded to the plight of their minorities ?

Why did the Ibo dominated eastern region refuse to even have the motion debated at Enugu ?

These are the stories that were never told the younger Igbos by their parents. They only told them emotional stories of how they have been done badly by Nigeria. They have 1/4 of the picture. The full picture of the events that played out between 1950s and 1970s showed that these young guys have been misinformed.
