You have a point but let me also bring out a perspective. Based on my knowledge of the scripture, there is a place that the dead go to after death in wait for the judgement that will determine their final destination. This place is erroneously called the purgatory by the Catholics cos there is no purging after death. But from my study of the scripture, this place has two gulfs (divide) - Paradise and hades! Paradise isn’t heaven and hades isn’t hell. But the experience of both is like heaven and hell. In paradise, there is access to the light, the glory and presence of God but in the hades, there is also access to the pain and horror of hell.

I have scriptures that gives me that understanding:

1. The story of Poor Lazarus and the rich man. Please note that this is not a parable. Read it and read the parables that Jesus told. They are different. This seems to be a real experience that mere men may not be able to comprehend so they call it parable. Luke 16: 19-31.

2. The story of the thief that Jesus responded to on the cross. He said today, you will be with me in paradise. Luke 23:43.

3. Acts 2:27

4. Also, apostle Paul said that those who sleep in the Lord will rise again (with a glorious body) at resurrection and those who are yet to die will be changed to a glorious body, and we will be caught up with Christ in the sky when he returns (1 Corinthians 15 from 51).

There are other scripture but let me limit it to these. Could he have gone to paradise and return? Why I am drawing this case is that we may not be sure of His experience and it may not also be in conflict with God’s word.

You haven’t really discovered God. What you have known and taught is religion and methods to appease God. They don’t work. When you find God, no one will tell you that there is God. You are the one that will tell others you have met with Him in real experience. Moreover, God is spirit, and if you are not in the spirit, you can never experience His reality and power.

My admonition: let this doubt lead you to genuine pursuit of God, His salvation, and His presence. And trust me, no pastor can give you that experience. You must find God by yourself!

I was raised in a Christian home and have strongly held on to the belief that there is God but lately, with recent events, this has rocked my faith ro the core and has given me reasons to question what I believe.

Firstly, when I think about the mass killing that happened recently at owo, I cannot but question if God exists. What kind of God allows kids to be robbed of parents, parents of children, and in His assumed House for that matter. A church should at least be a safe place if we want to go by how powerful God is. He's all knowing, why didn't he avert the crisis.

Secondly, I spoke with a Friend lately who has four kids and recently separated from her husband of 18yrs. She told me how she prayed and fasted and sowed seed for God to heal her marriage but alas, nothing happened, the marriage kept going downhill and finally separation. And she said to me, God does not answer prayers.

Thr last but not the least is that for the last 5years, I have asked for one prayer point, for God to fix my relationship, this has also packed up. I prayed, fasted, sowed, believed things would turn around but sadly nothing happened. I did everything humanly possible but it seems like it was meant to fail. I'm moving on.

So I'm doing a retrospective thinking, I have seen that all the things I never strongly never prayed about happened easily for me. I also have Friends who have deserted Christianity and are still pulling their weight regardless.

This has really given me reasons to question that there might be no God afterall. I'm genuinely seeking reasons to believe there is God.

You said no more revelation after Jesus is acceptable. This just cancelled everything Paul wrote and even the book of revelations. You keep conflicting.

The revelations of John in the book of revelations was purely a new revelation.
Much of it was given to him by an angel.
Also, Paul who wrote most of the new testament was not a follower when Christ was on earth. All his teachings came after Christ.

Letter writing or encouraging of the brethren didn't stop till now. I have mentors in the faith, who wrote to me while I was still in school to encourage me to stay true to my confession of faith. Those letters didn't have to enter the Bible.

All Paul's letter only revealed Christ and same with the book of revelation. It was all about Christ before the foundation of the world, during and after the completion of the day of the Lord and His glorious reign, which is yet to manifest. Nothing in those books were outside of Christ.

Even you, you can be inspired to write a book for an assembly of young people that you nurture. Those books won't enter the Bible but they will bless lives as long as they are coming from the heart of God.

I have read books and even the sermons of Smith Wigglesworth and many revivalists of old. Their teachings blessed my life, and made me to understand the mind of Christ and the interpretation of the Holy scriptures. But they are not in the Bible. Does it make the books lest relevant. No. As long as they reveal Christ, they will always remain relevant but doesn't need to be included in the Bible again.

Even Mark the writer of the 2nd gospel was not among the original Apostles.

It was not all the original twelve that wrote... They weren't inspired to write, even though there written evidence of their exploits and the backing of the Holyspirit with signs and wonders...

You also stated that you have read other books from divine revelation so let's agree that the Bible isn't the end to God's words. It was man not God that ended things in the bible. God continue's to reveal and all his revelations are equally important.

You are missing something here...

The apostles, who had direct encounters with Christ didn't have more than the old books (old testament - the Jewish bible, the Torah) but beyond the old testament, these men wrote a witness about the time of Jesus on earth, and the move of His grace on their lives after he had left.


God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Hebrews 1:1-2

Jesus himself is the revelation of God. No more revelation beyond Jesus is acceptable. These men only revealed Christ to us in the gospels and letters. No other revelation will show something greater or different from Christ. Until the Lord returns, the Holyspirit in us only teaches and reminds of us of Christ. He is the way, the truth and life...

Anything revealed beyond this reality is erroneous and heretic.

Jesu himself revealed himself to Paul. The believers and apostles of that time knew of his encounters with Paul. Not only of the encounters in Damascus but of the encounters in the wilderness of Arabia, where Jesus directly thought him and gave him mandate to the gentiles. The reason why most of his letter were cannonized is simple: the message of Christ was both for the Jews and the gentiles, and only Paul brought that revelations in his letters more clearly and in detail.

First, How do you claim that the bible is the conclusion of evens? Is it your personal opinion or did God reveal it anywhere?
Secondly, If you say that God still reveals himself or still works with people, does that not counter your first point? If God still works with people then the bible can't be the conclusion.

The Bible ended with the book of revelation because the new testament was a written account and testimonies of apostles and brethren that had first hand encounters with Jesus Christ. And these scriptures were written by the inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

God hasn't stopped revealing himself. There are many other books written after the apostles of old but they were not cannonized so that you don't filter errors mistakenly into the Bible. And I think it was right to limit the account of the new testament to the testimonies of those that experienced Jesus Christ directly.

I have read many books by Christian authors that were based on divine revelation. But all of them always bring alignment to the existing canons of the scripture. You cannot have any such understanding that are inconsistent with the word of God.
