Romance / Re: Now I Have Ulcer! by LawyerGodwin(m): 11:52pm On Nov 02, 2020
Blackpearlous:
For the first time I would fly, it was worth missing my valedictory service for, my mum taught us to be discreet so I couldn't gloat or even tell my friends I would be flying to write my post utme. A lot of things ran through my mind, as discreet as I was trained to be, my mind was loud. grin

Can't remember how long it took us to get to Lagos from abuja, less than an hour? I don't care! tongue Got to my aunt's place in Lagos and it was hell for me the few days I stayed angry.

My aunt and her children had varying degrees of ulcer so what was made was pepper-less and oil-less, and I would curse them from morning to night anytime I eat with a smile plastered on my face. Don't trust people always smiling o. grin

Didn't get admitted until three years later. During my 6months compulsory internship in my 300level I was Ill four times till it was confirmed I had ulcer. embarassed Most of my pain was from all the jest I made of my aunt and her children. sad

Drugs upon drugs, heartburns and gas trapped in my chest. Now I have been reduced also to a diet dairy and have to watch what I eat. I now get it, it was detrimental to them to eat those kind of food.

We don't have to be in people's shoes for us to be considerate and selfless in thoughts and deeds.

You might have sick siblings, spouse, friends around you, some of us are used to thinking they are faking it, yea some people do oversabi angry but we should still care for that asthmatic sis that doesn't want the windows open, that magraine prone bro that doesn't want noise and that diabetic mum that always ask you to help her boil unripe plantain. Take care of the sick even while you healthy. smiley

Finally, sick people don't hype sicknesses too, stay strong and be full of faith. wink

N.B - The most common causes of peptic ulcers are infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) and naproxen sodium (Aleve). Stress and spicy foods do not cause peptic ulcers.

Neither does making jest of people causes ulcer.

Truth... It's good to be emphatic!

The day Nigerians realize that they are the ones sponsoring the training of soldiers, paying salaries to soldiers, paying for their guns and uniform is the day we will be free from oppression by soldiers.

The day we realise that the Nigeria police is useless without the people is the day we will better understand our power

The day we realise that politicians are our sevants and not some gods to be worshipped is the day we will get fully liberated from political oppression.

Yes, no soldier pays for his one training; the Nigerian people sponsors him. So, a soldier that lifts up his hands to beat up a Civilian is bitting the fingers that feed him.

Succinctly said!!

Watch how Peaceful Nigerian Youth gather at Lekki Toll Gate harmless singing the National Anthem and Pledge, and at around 7pm, Soldiers came and massacre a of them. Lekki protest has been the most PEACEFUL and HARMLESS protest in the whole of Nigeria. Yet, it was where the blood of innocent civilians were spilled.

CCTV cameras were removed earlier in the afternoon, Streets lights were all turned off, Nigeria service providers shit down the internet, No t.v news channel is talking about this (THAT'S WHY I AM), even Ambulances were not allowed by the army to go tend to the injured.

And the Soldiers and Nigerian Government are denying that this event occured.

We the Nigerian Youths beseech the United Nations to intervene and see Justice is served.

We all have one girl, lady or woman out there we are deeply inlove with but can not date or have access to her maybe because:
1) she has rejected your proposal or
2) shes beyond your level and class or
3) you cant ask her out because shes in a seriously relationship (probably engaged) and cant double date.

But if per-adventure a lady who is deeply inlove or crushing on you toast you and ask you to give her a chance will you accept?

If I like her too. I would accept.

Romance / 7 Ways How You Can Have A Great Conversation With Strangers by LawyerGodwin(m): 9:18am On Aug 06, 2020
If you are an introvert, just the thought of speaking to a complete stranger can give you the heebie-jeebies. What? Talking to someone I don't know from Adam, "that is not happening right now!".
Many just keep mute and miss various opportunities that a simple conversation can bring. From friendship to Business to marital and much more.

How can you have a great conversation with a complete stranger? Can it be that easy to enjoy a conversation with someone you know nothing about?.

The answer is Yes!

And the first thing is you must be willing to set the ball rolling. Put yourself out there!

Follow below to see how you can begin a great conversation with anyone.

1. Compliment them

Everyone likes compliment. We all spend a deal of time behind the mirror to make sure we look good and attractive. And when someone from Adam sees how much effort we went through, we will feel comfortable to speak with that person.
Compliment can begin from the hairstyle, the designer tops, the wristwatch, the handbag, the shoes, and the list goes on. Warning, don't try to give sexual compliments unless you are at a club or something related (At your own risk).

This can be a great conversation started, and you can explore their response and see how you can sustain the conversation along the object of compliment. You will be amazed how interested the stranger will be to share how they got the object, how long it took to finish up and before you know it they will feel good around you.

2. At an Event

When you are invited to a gathering, party, etc. You already have what can spark an interesting conversation. You can begin speaking with the stranger commenting on the environment e.g how the food taste, or a particular section of the event. Then move on to questions like, "How did you come to know the host?". After they are done, you recount your own experience with the host. And as you keep the conversation going both you and the stranger wouldn't even know when you two begin to have a good laugh.

3. Ask Open-ended Questions

To have a great conversation, you need to avoid asking questions that results in you hearing Yes or No. They are conversation killers, KEEP OFF. Instead ask questions with How, What, When, Where, this type of question will cause the stranger to share more details. And such details can be the vehicle to a new conversation along the line.
Instead of asking "How was your day?", Ask "What was most challenging for you today"? Or "Tell me what made your day?".

4. Be a Good listener

Your ability to be a good listener gives you the keys to having a great conversation. You just don't listen, you have to be able to convince the person that you are actually paying full attention. Nobody wants to talk when the other person isn't listening. It gives off the feeling that you don't care about what they say, and no one wants to feel that way.
Ask follow up questions, like "so what happened next?, Where you scared? How did you get out of the situation? Etc. It sends a signal across to the person that you are paying attention, and this makes them feel good and want to keep the conversation going.
Listening also gives you the next topic for conversation.

5. Probe for Common Interest

We all have our unique area of interest. Every individual have some set of things they are more passionate about. From movies to politics to education to business to agriculture etc. Your aim here is to look for an interest you both share. This will spark a connection between you and the stranger. You both we have something to bring to the table at the same time speaking from different perspectives. This is the gold mine of a conversation. When you hit this gusher, you would not know how time passed in your conversation. And the stranger will feel real good about the discuss.

6. Be Empathetic

Watch the emotion the stranger is communicating. If it's a sad one, react in a sympathetic way, give your condolences. If it's a joke he trying to crack, you should laugh even when it is not funny to you. Act surprise from time to time. This will build a connection between you and the stranger. And try not to be judgmental at the beginning of the conversation.

7. Don't be Discouraged

There are different type of people. You would meet the good, the bad, the beast. If you reach out to a stranger and he is all cold towards you, don't think you have a problem. Especially when you are just building your conversation skills. You can't control how people react to you when you reach out. So it has nothing to do with you, it's about them and their personality.
Don't be discouraged after few resistance. Still keep building your conservation skills. Practice makes perfect.

Finally you can use two or more methods. You can also use all 7 with a stranger. And see the connection you two will build and where it will lead to. And the more you practice the more it becomes natural to initial a conversation with anyone and have a good talk with them.
Also be ready to reveal certain details, in opening yourself up, you encourage the other person to do so you.

What other method do you thing can make a good conversation... I would like to hear from you...

I know what you may be passing through. In the end you will be fine. You are the only one that can bring Healing to you.

You have to let go and move on!

Don't try to stop the hurt and pain. Let the emotions flow. You should grieve, spend time to grieve(have a deadline). Then start rebuilding your self esteem and self image. Take your life back! You have to move from feeling sorry for yourself.

Focus on your goals, dreams, have new hobbies. Self evaluate what went wrong, what were the things you could have done better. What were the things that were beyond your control. And learn the lesson for a better relationship ahead.

Meet new people, tell your friends and family what you are going through for their support.

Remember, if the other person really valued you as much as you did, they would have tried to make things work out before they cut the lines. I'm sure you feel hurt, maybe they were not worthy of your love in the first place, because I bet you are willing to try to make things work, and they are not.

If you need someone to talk to, I am here for you. Just a beep away.

Can't wait for you to get over it and move on!

Romance / How To Become The Perfect Gentleman In Seven Steps by LawyerGodwin(m): 9:18am On Aug 04, 2020
Being a gentleman isn’t all about being a dapper dresser (although that shouldn’t be dismissed) it’s about being courteous, respectful and so much more! We’ve gathered our must have tips for being a true gentleman this week on the stag blog, but do remember that these tips do apply to the ladies out there too! Apply these into your everyday life wherever possible and enjoy knowing that you really are a true gentleman.

How to become the perfect gentleman in seven steps...

Be respectful
Be honest
Don't abandon ship in a relationship
Good Hygeine is a must
Hold doors open for people
Keep the language clean
Family comes first

Be respectful
A gentleman is respectful to everyone around them – not just women that they’re on a date with. Be polite to everyone you meet, even if they’re just a plain rude asshole. You’ll come out of it looking like the better person, that’s for sure!

Be honest
As the saying goes, honesty really is the best policy, especially when it comes to dating and relationships. No-one really does enjoy ‘playing games’. If you like someone, you like someone and a proper gent won’t be afraid to let that person know how they feel about them.

Don’t abandon ship in a relationship
Things can get tough in relationships and it’s not always going to be a walk in the park despite how much you both love and adore each other. A gentleman will always support and be there for his partner, even during the most challenging of times.

Good Hygiene is a must
A true gent must have good hygiene – keep yourself smelling fresh and tip top at all times (the only exception is when you’re working out!). Moisturise your face daily to keep it smooth and If you’ve got facial hair, keep it well-groomed and presentable. Keeping a comb with you is always handy to ensure your tresses are looking good! Finally, a nice spritz of aftershave goes a long way and makes you smell all sophisticated!

Hold doors open for people
This one is traditional yes, but holding doors open for people never gets old! It’s the perfect way to show consideration for other people whether it’s men, women, the elderly or children. There’s nothing worse than someone in front of you who lets the door slam in your face – it’s always nice to show courtesy to others.

Keep the language clean
Of course, you’re not expected to keep the language clean at all times, but do be mindful of your language and who you’re around. Dropping the f-bomb every other word just isn’t cool and most definitely doesn’t make you look charming whatsoever. Just try to tone it down if you’ve got a bit of a potty mouth.

Family comes first
Make sure to always put your family first if there’s something going on. Maybe a member of your family or your girlfriend is feeling ill – if so, offer to help them out and look after them. Your efforts really will be greatly appreciated.

If you and your group of stags are looking to enjoy the ultimate sophisticated experience, then you’ll love our gentleman’s afternoon tea! It’s a unique stag activity and takes a manly spin on the classic afternoon tea experience that the ladies love so much. Instead of dining on delicate cakes, you’ll all get to enjoy sandwiches, pork pies (locally sourced of course), pickled onions, crisps and a delicious beer to wash it all down with!

Heartbreak Can Literally Kill You, Says Very Sad Study.
Broken heart syndrome is a REAL thing.
Most often, we think of heartbreak as a certain sense of sadness and longing when a relationship ends that can only be stifled with pints of Ben & Jerry's and the constant reassurance from close friends that "You're better off, honey."

When we're dying of a broken heart, we think of it in the figurative sense, but can love kill you for real? Can you die from a heartbreak?

Dying of a broken heart may actually be more real than we think. Because new research has shown that heartbreak is a real occurrence, named "broken heart syndrome," and happens after the loss of a loved one or the end of a relationship. And it can literally kill you.

Put down the ice cream and allow us to explain.

In 2018, researchers from the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center found that a person's risk of suffering from a heart attack increases by 21 times in the first 24 hours after losing a loved one.

Over the course of five years, the researchers interviewed 2,000 patients who suffered from heart attacks, including asking them questions regarding triggering events. The results showed that the risk of heart attack is eight times higher than normal during the week after the death of a loved one. Though it slowly declines, that risk remains elevated for at least one month.

Previous studies have shown that one's health declines after the death of someone close, but this is the first study to discover this "broken heart syndrome."
Researchers are associating the increased risk with the feelings of depression, anxiety and anger that come with grief. These feelings lead to an increased heart rate and blood pressure, which makes blood more likely to clot and can ultimately cause the heart attack.

"The emotional sense of the broken heart may actually lead to damage, leading to heart attack and a physical broken heart of a sort," explains senior author Murray Mittleman, MD, DrPH.
It's interesting to consider that the death of a loved one can cause so much emotional pain that eventually, physical pain (in the form of a "broken heart"wink follows suit. It almost makes you rethink that pint of post breakup Ben & Jerry's, if only to prepare your arteries for the real heartbreak that may someday come.
