I feel we all watched the match and noticed that most passes were either overhit or undergo. No one is even focusing on our midfield which is very key if we want to win any match. The fact that people just expect a striker to do wonders without a good midfield is surprising to say the least. You can only score if you have the ball.

You want to argue with Lewandowski!

When I left after the second season, I wanted to take the next step - but suddenly I was playing in a No.10 role... Lewandowski

Chai, learn and move on.
Kindly stop all these suicide jabs and let's face the super eagles. Once you are not learning from an arguement, let it go.

If he can play the role why was he complaining in the interview?

"I wanted to take the next step - but suddenly I was playing in a No.10 role. I was quite mad because I wanted to play up front"

It's obvious Klop wanted him to learn something specific at that point which was the reason he deployed him there not because he could play as a 10.
Not to support him but he gave you facts. You can learn a few things. You dey have to win all arguements

Chief Icon4s.... you are most spot on. smiley

Remember in my very first analysis on the Camerounian team at this Confederations cup after their game with Chile.... I stated that Cameoroun is very dangerous and quite threatening from set pieces....

They have Moukandjo from direct freekicks. And most notably they have guys like Ngadeu Ngadjui and Teiku with their aerial prowess. Most especially Ngadjui.... he showed same at the Afcon.

This is one detail I hope Rohr and His team of experts/strategy analysts really take serious.

And I must say this game has seen a much improved Cameroun. They are playing really well against Germany. But their weaknesses are finishing, Decision making in the final third and a few more.

Overall, This Camerounian team is good... very very good. And That Lad Ondoa is truly a wall.
Delivery from the set pieces have not been too accurate and they can't seem to cross the ball well.
Bassagog has potential but his final decision reminds me of one certain 'Ikedia'

Hello house, I have an observation that I would love to be analysed. I just watched the U17 team of 2013. Why can't our senior team play like that. That intense pressing, the sleek passing. The effortless scoring.

RichardKajola:
I just finished watching Nacho's goals for man city and they are all basically one touch goals that is tappings. Now get me right am not saying they are not goals but they are simpler to score because they only require positioning which has a lot to do with luck ( because to anticipate you guess and that could be wrong or right)
Nacho has the Ronaldo kind of hype - all about goals but he can do better as evidenced in the goal he scored against Southampton from outside the box but playing him as a striker makes him almost static. when I say static in this sense I mean a striker sometimes goes to midfield to make space for runners from deep and that can give him the space to do what I think he can do best well, that is taking curling shots from around the eighteen yard box
In summary I think Nacho's best position is the AMF/SS where he can show his total talent and also make those runs for the tappings as well
Did you just type that positioning has to do with luckhuh? I don die

Sorry jare, I felt anichebe should not even be an option, the fact that people are actually questioning Nacho's ability is strange. One would think we would be looking for an attacking midfielder who would make his runs count. Not to start considering Martins and the likes

The fullbacks remain our problem really... we just have to keep making do with Echiejile in the left coz we got no other replacement for now who can step in for such big game.

This is where the issue of identifying good left back options for the team must be done in view of future games but for the Cameroun encounters... it will be Echiejile and Hopefully the lad to play LW that day (preferably Etebo) will help him out just like Moses did when he switched with Iwobi to help out Echiejile battle Mahrez.

Balogun also covered that left side of the defence real good that day the few times he came up against Mahrez.

For the Right back role... I really cannot say for now who should start. Will it be Shehu? Will it be Omeruo? Will it be Aina ? (a rookie!! Yikes...if his allegiance switch is finally done and dusted--- Experience crew will get me for this).

Or by a wild thinking, Onazi for RB? I don't know mehn... the fullback roles are problematic. And we will be up against Cameroun's might from those two wings... Hellish!

All the same, I hope Rohr sorts out his notes on the Camerounians and come up with a really good tactical plan and also the right players for each role. We need the players who will deliver the goods on the day. I hope Rohr gets it right this time.
That is our major problem and nothing more as far as I am concerned. Deal with those two and we can build on that. All other positions can be filled and our formation altered. I thought we were after one Aina and Idowu dude

TheSuperNerd:
No.... We are already "over-preparing"... Rohr is even spying on Cameroun in Russia. He is studying their games and the team with his team of analysts.

We must not analyse without educating the others reading in ghost mode about what we are up against and how we can actually tackle them. We must be balanced and not spread the air of pessimism just because we wanna look humble ahead of the game.

It will only lead to more depression.

Nigeria is not there yet... but the Cameroun I saw today and against Chile is also not there yet and we can beat them with the Generals (Mikel, Moses, Balogun, Ikeme Plus even Young Success) back and if we play to our strengths and play with tactical awareness of their own strengths too.
Fullbacks nko, we need to sort out those

You mean quick passing and mobility in the final third... Yes... TheGoodjoe and I have long hammered on it... if you have been here from the beginning.

But in most of your posts, you are saying they will hold down our pacy players like you are Hugo Broos himself.... You are also sounding like this because of the south Africa game.

Being Negative and being pessimistic is not being objective.

I have dissected the Camerounian team and spoken about heir strengths and weaknesses.... I am not hyping the Nigerian team but showing where we do stand a good chance.

Now that is being soundly and roundly objective.
Yeah I might have my own fears but that was the only match I really got to watch and analyse since the match against Algeria as they don't even air the friendlies anymore. I was really following the trend prior to the match due to my tight schedule and imagine the reduction in expectations. Oh least I forget, why can't the Kayode dude play 9 and give iheanacho the free role?

TheSuperNerd:
I knew you would come clear that question... I saw it as sarcastic too.

But I am sorry you are not doing a good balanced job of pointing out how we ought to prepare for the Camerounians.

You are just hyping the Camerounians' strengths and saying nothing of their weaknesses.... And hyping our weaknesses and saying nothing of our strengths.

That is your way of saying we should just forget the game naa... and go home coz it is a lost battle already. well done.
Nope, I think we should focus more on our weaknesses and try to adjust to them. Better to overhype them and overprepare than the opposite you know
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Lazyerudite: 8:19pm On Jun 22, 2017
TheSuperNerd:
And you think pointing out their strengths alone while pointing only to our weaknesses does justice to wholesome analysis?

We must talk about the strengths of both teams and also their weaknesses. That way we get to see the monsters we are up against and also the counter monsters we have to neutralize theirs.

And I repeat... their fullbacks looked faster like quicksilver today because they were up against a slow and Not so physically powerful Australian team.

The Super Pace of the Camerounian team is found mainly in three Musketeers... and they showed it even against Chile.

Moukandjo, Bassogog, and Anguissa.
If you have been following the trend, I did point out that short passes would unlucky the team and we should keep our defensive shape at all times

Hahaha, when I asked if Echiejile still played in the SE, that was more like a sarcastic comment cos he was anonymous against SA and made so many mistakes especially his passes. Again this was how we kept on hyping our squad against SA. We need to focus on our weaknesses and fix them.

I am not hyping Cameroon @supernerd I am just stating what I can see. The same way Goldfish mentioned, I have been observing them because I want us to go to the world cup. However we hardly get to watch d SE and when we did, they put up a poor outing. We saw Cameroon in the nation's cup and now in the confed cup. They are faster than you think

TheSuperNerd:
Oga we have super pace upfront.... we just need to activate the pace with the right throughballs and passing.... Our defenders are also not slowbies.
Their no.2 and 3 seems fast because The Australians are bloody slow.

I repeat their pace is generated majorly from the likes of Moukandjo, Bassogog and that Workhorse AMF called Anguissa.

We not there yet.... who says we are?? But the Camerounians are also not there as you can see today. They could not beat a team less in stamina, power and pace than them plus their finishing is wayward. Are they there too??
Cameroon can play crap all year but when they hear Nigeria, na do or die o. It is a warning

Echiejile and Etebo up and down that wing should contain Bassogog. #myInitialthoughts

Read my comment again to know which part of the Camerounian team I called fast and not fast.... I was specific.

And sorry... I may be Nigerian... but truth is we have the pace to beat their defenceline like Chile were always doing easily. Of only we play to our strengths. That is the reality.
Objectiveness does not mean sounding negative and playing down on our own strengths all the time in the name of so-called Objective analysis.

We must state what we are up against and also state where we hold the aces. That is what I am doing.

Without Bassogog, Anguissa and Moukandjo... the pace of the Camerounians is absent. #Fact
I watched their 2 and 3 and believe me, they are by no means slow. That team is quite agile and fast evidenced by their counter attacks. Our team is not as fast as you are portraying it. Again we should thread carefully. Musa usually leaves the ball behind, Moses might give them a run for their money and iheanacho(if he plays like he did against SA will be taken out of the game easily). We are not there yet
