The two teams that beat Enugu got to the last 4 in the last competition. We cannot blame the players when we are not blind and deaf. We all saw Nana Bonsu play on a bad foot, why didn't they have a good back up, they sold Daniel and ate the money. I give all the credit to the players of Enugu Rangers and i hope that other clubs can learn from this.
If we fail during Chan then no one should be surprised. This is where it starts, soon you will not have people with much competition experience makinhg it to CHAN. And we will be expecting a miracle. When I said the goals Odey was scoring were god but the defending was abysmal, I think I was not far from the truth. We need to step up our league especially the organisation.

think musa...is still needed in SE...his impacts in the game against Zambia, and Algeria upon his introduction is something we should not wtite off. he should be deployed to the wings and introduced every 30-20 minutes left to play to outran the opponent's wing backs...
his impacts as sub's.....during the orange Africa nations cup in south Africa 2013....still come to mind.
the guy has pace...with a little ball control he can do much for SE especially as sub. that's Leicester still hasn't grab
He does not have to be a starter but against any team, the defence would be wary of his pace, which cqn easily tire opponents. Another thing is dedication, he is dedicated to the cause.

Musa might lose place in Super Eagles squad

Leicester City forward, Ahmed Musa, is at the risk of losing his place in the Super Eagles as coach Gernot Rohr is getting impatient with his attitude.

It was gathered that the player’s general attitude in camp has not been good, even as his performance rating on the field of play has dropped significantly with the German tactician not impressed, according to sources.

“He seemed to have some problems with the team when Samson Siasia was briefly in charge, but he made the mistake of carrying this into Rohr’s regime. That has not helped him,” an official said.

Rohr overlooked Ahmed Musa to lead the Eagles against Senegal in London last week, when he handed Ogenyi Onazi the captain’s armband instead.

It was further learnt that immediately after this decision, the Leicester City star hurriedly called a players’ meeting during which he announced he will no longer be assistant captain of the team.

“That was very childish of him,” blasted a team official.
Rohr revealed on radio that Ahmed Musa was excused from camp to attend to family issues, but it has been revealed the player asked to leave camp.

But this was only the culmination of the problems between player and coach as Rohr has been far from pleased with Ahmed Musa’s general attitude particularly on the pitch.

It would be recalled that Ahmed Musa drove into the team’s training camp with an expensive Range Rover Sports he had acquired just days to a crucial World Cup qualifier in Zambia in October.

The coach was miffed by this as he expected all the players in camp to focus totally on the game in Ndola, Zambia.

“The coach did not even mind this. It’s the player’s attitude he has not been happy with,” further informed another official

No one ever said he must be captain but I do not like them treating older players like this. Some people started rubbishing his contributions to the SE just to justify inclusion of new players. Don't worry, the younger players are watching how you treat your own

Odey is not just topping the chart but he is showing consistency. One of the reasons why we lose out on promising local talents is us leaving them in our local League to rot. By the time they leave, they might not have the fire in them.

Rohr is highly experienced and I believe he can tell a quality talent when he sees one. No one is asking for Rohr to start or play Odey yet but watch him closely. Drill him and run a rule is he is ready for the Super Eagles.

I also use this opportunity to still mention that we need to start using the international Windows to play friendly games with our young talents (both local and foreign). Team building should not only go on at the top.

If we had an U21 Friendly against one of the European, African or Asian U20 teams, we would have seen the likes of Onyekuru and Odey in the Super Eagles Jersey. Maybe they make statements for their Super Eagles inclusion.
We will put so much pressure on this Odey and end up making him fail. Let him go to Chan and prove himself, super eagles as not a testing group. Those that were better have faded over time. If he comes now and has a bad day, trust Nigerians to rubbish all his efforts. His time will come, moreover this is his first successful season. I watched his goals though decent but the quality of defending is nothing to write home about

Please can we give the Sone Aluko issue a rest, all players can not be invited. Some people say it like he is the next best thing we have. He might be a good player but is he needed in the SE right now, the answer is no. Will he be needed? Maybe. Kalu and Onyekuru did not get a look in does not mean that they don't matter. And the championship is not as good as it is being painted. Even EPL teams are struggling in Europe let alone championship. Seems some people are hell bent on selling the championship. Aluko is average just like most of our player so I don't know why the advocacy. In as much I like the guy's style of play, he just might not fit in into the coach's plan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUh2GFRrqFY
Very very poor defending, not to take away his ability to score. However I noticed the team he plays for seem to pass the ball well, especially their midfielders. But all the teams they played against were poor, extremely poor. I would have thought they fixed the match to be honest. Poor positioning, no sense of awareness, goal keepers are not worth talking about. Super eagles material? I don't think so, if he does well in u20 or 23 I will be shocked simply because he will meet more organised defences. His shooting can improve though

For this friendly games I think we should focus more on how we defend, keep possession and how we handle barage of attacks. It will be key against Cameroon and South Africa. Our defenders should be the ones that need to show up

All lies. Of course, they'd be happy to confirm his mysterious injury once he informs them that doesn't mind missing the friendly in order to stay fresh for the league games. Watched the dude for 71 mins on Saturday and he didn't show any signs of injury.

Anyway, I would the SE medical crew to evaluate this injury. And btw, I can assure you that Moses would play Chelsea next game. These kinda injuries tend to mysteriously disappear once the international week is over grin
Do we really need Moses in this match, left to me I am more interested in how we defend, it will be key against South Africa and Cameroon

Imaging a goalie keeping 6 clean sheets out of 10 matches. undecided

NPFL no get strikers again ni? angry
When I see such clean sheets I do not only focus on the keeper but also the defenders, are they the ones shielding the keeper of he has been saving them. I still remember Enyeama in the SE, we had an average defence but he was up to the task. Who is the best goal keeper presently in the NPFL, defender? Midfielder? Where in the Nwobodo dude?,

Hmm, been observing for a while now, I had to come in concerning the NPFL players and why they should be invited or not. In as much as I would love to have a full home based team, we must be truthful to ourselves, the NPFL is growing but not there yet. I would have used the caf champions league but some will say it is not fair. Okay how about the super six tournaments. The fact is, if you are struggling against u20s and to be honest Garba Manu really exposed them some years back then I am sorry you are not ready for the big stage. Over the last 10years all our top strikers with the exception of musa have faded. If you even watch the trend, players straight from our academies have performed far better. Not playing down Odey, but is he so exceptional to be called into the SE or we sha want a local boy in the team. Where is anekes and the likes? Now what does our team need right now? I would say defenders and a good back up goalkeeper. Can the NPFL provide such, I really doubt that. My opinion is if we can't make any progress in caf champions league then I am sorry maybe we should face Europe. The golden era of the Egyptian team had most of their players in the local teams but we were seeing it at the level of the caf competitions. I believe the NPFL is on the rise but I have seen more academy products do better than NPFL. Oh least I forget, the age issue is a real problem that needs to be solved

Thank you all for returning to football finally, and for those who seek to derail the thread, we will wait quietly till you are ignored finally. I really want us to caution ourselves with the language we use. We Nigerians love insults so much that we have turned it into an everyday routine. To think that a lot of people view this forums, even foreigners and we end up disgracing ourselves just to have the last chat. As someone once said all these insults are evidence which I hope will not be used against us in future. You will be surprised how e-war could be the genesis of one's downfall especially those destined for greatness. And I am even more disappointed in some old timers who chose to stoop so low. And to be the newcomers, ever wondered if this forum would have lasted this long if all we did was insult each other everydayhuh I always thought this was the only sane Nigerian forum where insults were avoided and maturity was displayed. How wrong I was?

Cameroon may be just a game away from a fifth AFCON title today, but Super Eagles ace Uche Agbo has maintained the Indomitable Lions will not stop Nigeria from next year’s World Cup despite their recent exploits in Gabon.

Young Indomitable Lions without several of their top stars have surprised many by going all the way to today’s championship game against Egypt in Libreville.

In August, Nigeria will welcome the Cameroonians in a crucial World Cup qualifier in Uyo with the reverse fixture four days later.

However, Agbo said Nigeria remain on course for a place at Russia 2018 and not even a resurgent Cameroon could stop them.

“With all due respect, the AFCON is not the World Cup. And whatever Cameroon achieved at the AFCON will not stop us from being at Russia 2018,” he said.

“I haven’t seen anything special in the Cameroonian team. They do not have what it takes to stop the Super Eagles.

“No team can stop us from the World Cup.”

Nigeria lead their qualifying group for the World Cup with six points from two matches, while Cameroon have two points.

Zambia and Algeria are on a point each with only the overall winners advancing to next year’s World Cup in Russia.

Yes they have found their lost spirit and they overran it against a weak team. They can't show up like this against a strong and technical eagles. Will
not even close.

They have been noted and they will be taken seriously, Both game at Uyo and Yaoude will be a cracker.
I don't think we are there yet o, allow Rohr build his team and hope for the best. Everyone that is saying Egypt were lucky, I disagree. They simply met a better side. A team that stopped us from qualifyinghuh Only thing I think you need against this Cameroonian side is possession football and quick short passes. Oh least I forget. Take ur chances!!!

Its been an eventful 3weeks of explosive football in Gabon. To be honest the quality of football I've seen on display have been top notch and I dare say even better than the bore fest they called Euros last summer.

Obviously from their first kick of the ball in this championship, I saw the champion quality in the eventual winners. Their structure, work rate and humility in their approach was evident for those who had to hawk eye.

Congratulations to Cameroun. Its a nice kick in the teeth to the likes of Onana, Chipu motten, Matip and other machineries who went MIA, thinking the country will be stranded without them. Rubbish

Stand up for the champions!!!
Do you think we can beat them
