Politics / Re: Nigeria Is Built On A Satanic Foundation- Femi Fani Kayode by legedzBENZ(m): 6:34pm On Sep 09, 2015
The fact is Fani-Kayode is right. The foundation is faulty.
The Asiwajus, Turakins, Kpakpanso, Haji Rochases of this country all worship power. They all love money.

Money and power are like Siamese twins. But the average Nigerian has foolishness in their DNA so they can't make simple elementary deductions from things that have happened in their recent past.

Oh! And of course, history isn't a subject taught in Nigerian schools anymore.

Can anyone guess why not?

Good morning Mr Frank,
Eukor vessel "Morning Conductor" just started discharging today.
The scanned BOL you sent me is what I would need to initiate entry, pay customs duty and proceed with releasing by Customs.
The hard copy would be needed to release from the shipping company, without this release from the shipping I won't b e able to rate terminal debit note which has to be paid before an exit can be issued.
We have never met before but it is a small world and am confident this would be the start of a lasting relationship between us.
Our antecedents on Nairaland speaks for us so please tell Mummy she has nothing to worry about.

NOTE - It is important to prep someone to be available to witness the bringing out of the vehicle from the port on the to be set day of delivery. This is important so he/she can attest to how the vehicle was brought out from the terminal(This is in respect to the 3 extra tyres u stated u have in it)

Thanks for trusting in us and be sure we would only continually give you reasons to trust us more.[/b]

Ms. T has briefed me this morning, i think shes on top of the situation and knows the issues. So she will handle it with all necessary awareness. Thanks and have a nice day!

Politics / Re: NCAA May Close Enugu Airport by legedzBENZ(m): 12:29pm On Sep 21, 2013
AKANU-IBIAM AIRPORT, ENUGU OK FOR ALL FLIGHTS - NCAA grin

In a statement signed by the agency’s general manager, public affairs, Fan Ndubuoke, NCAA said its role is civil aviation regulation; that it is the Federal Government that controls policies that affect air transportation in the country, which it exercises and directs through the Federal Ministry of Aviation.

“The NCAA’s standards with respect to airport, aircraft, passenger and operational safety, security and experience are primary and not necessarily determined by designation of an airport as international or domestic. The relevance of such designation is only to the extent of the nature of equipment, traffic, security and uniform safety concerns,” the Authority said.

The regulatory body also denied that it refused to clear a flight to land at the airport because the airport designation as an international airport has not been gazetted, saying that the gazetting of an airport is not one of the considerations of NCAA with “respect to safety, security or passenger comfort and experience.”

The Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu having complied with all the requirements, is permitted to receive, and embark internationally bound aircraft and passengers. The facilities and facilitation of passengers, crew and goods in international travel at the airport comply with globally accepted safety and security standards,” NCAA said.

The agency also remarked that other relevant agencies such as immigration, customs and NDLEA are satisfied with the airport and facilities for the purpose of carrying out their statutory duties.

“Airlines and aircraft operating internationally to the airport have also conducted their necessary inspections and assessments for their equipment and crew handling which they found satisfactory, failing which they would not operate.”
The Authority insisted that it was not true that any aircraft was denied passage to Enugu on account that it was engaging in international operations.

On the Gazetting of the airport, he disclosed that “It is entirely false and preposterous to insinuate that gazzetting constitutes a factor in NCAA technical analysis and certifications.

Politics / Re: Ahmadu Ali Is The New PDP BoT Chairman by legedzBENZ(m): 7:46am On Jan 09, 2013
Maxymilliano: Ahmadu Ali emerges PDP BoT chairman

After a tough battle with about five contenders, including the newly appointed chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Tony Anenih, former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, Okwesilieze Nwodo, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and Shuaibu Oyedokun, a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ahmadu Ali, has emerged as the party’s new Board of Trustees’ chairman, BoT as President Olusegun Obasanjo voluntarily retired last year.

Prior to the election it had been thought that the new BoT chairman would emerge by consensus as against a ballot. But none of the contenders agreed to step down for another.

In line with Article 12.77 of the party’s constitution, the contenders agreed that the election would determine the acceptability of the winner.

Conveying the party’s decision to the public, the board’s secretary, Walid Jibrin, said the PDP at its December meeting failed to agree on a consensus candidate and had thus settled for the process of election which had been fixed for today.

Jibrin, however, said that today’s winner would serve a single term of five years in accordance with the party’s constitution.
Ali’s emergence, political pundits believe shows the ascendancy of former president Obasanjo in the power equation in the PDP as Ali is believed to be his preferred candidate.

Ali’s defeat of Anenih, perceived to be the candidate of President Goodluck Jonathan is seen as a political signal of his waning hold on the power levers of the party.

Jonathan who is believed to want to run in the 2015 presidential election, has recently appointed Anenih into the “juicy” NPA board post.

Youth leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, Lagos, Adedeji Oshinowo, has accused the Chaiman of the council, Mr. Abdulfatai Oyesanya, of orchestrating an attack that left him with eight machete cuts.

At a hospital where Oshinowo was being treated, he gave an account of the attack that landed him in the emergency ward.

He said, “Around 6pm on Thursday, I was at a meeting in my ward. While the ward chairman was addressing members, some ladies, who are loyalists of Oyesanya were being rude to him. I cautioned them and appealed to the ward chairman just to quell the crisis.

“I went home after the meeting and was relaxing in the front of my house around 9pm when I noticed a white van and a Volvo car pull up close to my house. Some men dressed in black and a lady I know as Shade came out with them.”

Oshinowo explained that Shade was one of the ladies who were allegedly causing problem during the ward meeting.

He added that the lady was the one who identified him for his attackers.

The youth leader said, “She pointed to me saying ‘that is the Deji.’

“When the men approached, I recognised one of them, Saheed, an aide to Oyesanya.”

According to Osinowo, the attackers, who were wielding guns and machetes, shot sporadically into the air and pounced on him.

He said he must have lost consciousness during the attack as he could not recall much of what happened.

“I was told I was revived in the hospital. I don’t have any problem with Oyesanya except that he is angry because I’m not one of his loyalists,” he said.

freecocoa - good to hear a few people talk sense grin grin grin
just by reading the comments, its easy to identify the yaho yaho boys (n ther girlfriends lol) and the agberos n ocho pasenjas, even d totally jobless sef!

Amacaco: Many of us who prefer criticizing the leadership are no better. grin The problem with this country is nothing but hypocrisy. People who as leaders of student unions, clubs, associations, cooperative societies, town and market unions, and even companies have squandered or are still squandering their association resources are the people who make the most noise about corruption in this country. What will you say of Elders in our villages who pervert justice and deny the poor justice at local meetings simply because they have collected money from people. cry

The Directors and Permanent Secretaries at the various Ministries and Agencies at Federal and State Levels ensure that Budgets are not duly implemented so that the money allocated to their Ministries can be shared at the end of the year.

The police, Efcc,Prosecution, Defence lawyers, and Judges and all those who serve in the temple of justice and whose responsibility it is to ensure that culprits are brought to justice are no better as diligent investigations and prosecution is thrown overboard simply because money has exchanged hands.

Yet it is this class of People who talk, write and criticize others when issues of corruption are raised and we applaud them as saints.Who is fooling who.One thing is certain- the day for accounting is coming.
on point my bro!!

freecocoa: True there are some honest Nigerians for sure but believe you me,many people on that queue tried bribing their ways too but couldn't due to the amount demanded by the guy, those that weren't willing to part with their money lied and fought claiming to be there before people who came before them.

Not trying to drag people with me but honestly majority of people on that queue looked for how to maneuver their ways and trust me i wasn't the only one who gave the bribe.

Whether the corruption is from the top to bottom or bottom to top,the main thing is that there is corruption and that is where I'm laying emphasis on.

I must confess I have quoted some of the posts here (with their names) and sent to my BB contacts. I have told my friends to start taking responsibility for their actions or inactions. grin grin

4. Let's spread the message. [s]There is no forum better placed than Nairaland[/s] EXCUSE ME!!!!! shocked shocked shocked to start the Nigerian version of "Arab Springs" Let's go!

maasoap: The laws are there for the leaders and rulers to apply to erring followers. It is because they are corrupt and can't enforce laws that makes followers too to be swimming in corruption. Majority of the people in any society have tendency to be corrupt but it is the duty of rulers to punish criminals be it followers or fellow leaders. French president declare his assets few hours into office but our dear Jona keeps mute about his assets. It is just a pity you can't see that the leaders can make the nation whatever they want it to be. Just make the laws of the land working. If you didn't witness the era of WAI under Buhari/Idiagbon, I'm sure you would have read or heard about it.

Maasoap, abeg sharrap dia!! na hardwork to hia u tok, na god i take beg u, bring ya brain com nxt tym u log on, biko nwa nnem!!

Kingsleyinfo:
Exactly my point bro.
Its time to stop looking for who to blame, let us face the fact.
If everybody refuses to give bribe to the police, will it not stop?
If students stop offering money for marks in exams will malpractice not stop?

If we all speak up with one voice against corruption will things not change?
I can assure u that if you call the politicians and ask them why things are this way you would be almost convinced by their explanations.
But the truth is that what's wrong is wrong no matter the name u give to it.
our leaders are a product of our system.
but one thing I have realised in life "there is nothing as rewarding as doing what is right"
Its up to you and I to see beyond ourselves and understand that untill we speak up no one will do it for us.
take America for example, we all know they are corrupt, but why is it not vivid? Its because there are people both leaders and followers alike who would rather die than allow corruption to thrive.

the op has asked a question, which calls for sober reflection rather than accusations and counter accusations.
the worst thing a man can do is to blame another person for his failures.

So am asking myself "am I less corrupt than my leaders?"
MAY GOD HELP US ALL.

Tayerulz: I'm always mad at topics lyk dis, wot do u mean by we r also corrupt. YAHO YAHO AGBEROS DON LAND again o!!
Our leaders are directly responsible for d corruption in dis country by 99.9% take it or leave it. Our founding fathers did not train our mind. Are you tellin me dat americans are not also corrupt? Ofcourse they are but the govt is reducin its effect in all ways by makin lives of its citizens worth livin. All gud jobs are for their children & grandchildren , money for infrastructures are being forwarded to their childrns acct oversea etc. Our leaders must all be killed before nigeria can progress, go & learn from ghana. They made us corrupt by making life so difficult for us & as human being we wuld want to live or @ op why dnt u stay & die in ur village? Ones we hv a gud leader, corruption reduces coz it begins @ the top. Bleep Nigeria ☹
Mtschew!!!

Chuks84: Frosbel, like someone rightly said, your thread lacks common sense. You have effectively taken the blame from the leaders and placed it on the shoulders of the people. This is not so; a leader is elected because he is believed to be the best among the lot, if he is not capable of shouldering the burden laid upon him, then he is not fit to be a leader. Always remember, if the head is corrupt, then so is the whole body. Nigeria has the capacity for change but it has to start from the leadership not from the people as you have erroneously suggested.

Frosbel, dont mind idiots who open dia mouth first befor tinking. Wot is diffrens btwin people n rulers? Are d rulers going to visit evry wetin u carry checkpoint to prevent dem asking for N50 per molue?

Are d rulers/leaders going to check all advert for civil savant jobs to make sure is right? Or are dey going to check all contracts on award to make sure is not inflated?

Tok sense abeg, otherwise we go force seun to second base u jooooor!!

Business / Re: PART 1: NIGERIAN OIL INDUSTRY AND FUEL SUBSIDY: FACTS, MYTHS & HIDDEN TRUTH by legedzBENZ(m): 10:40am On Nov 22, 2011
kalokalo:

The OP's original article is full of misconceptions. The are a lot of fundamental questions that the article's author failed to ask and answer. The questions and attendant answrs will point to why fuel scarcity/shortages, adulteration, subsidy consistently plague Nigeria while our surrounding West African neighbors do not have the same issues  namely:

1) Why is it that only government owned refineries exist in Nigeria? Why have the IOCs/private investors refused to invest in refineries if there is indeed no 'subsidy' and it made business / economic sense to invest in refineries in Nigeria?

2) If a brand new refinery in built today in Nigeria, at what price would crude be sold to them by the IOCs/JV partners? at what price would they be allowed to sell their refined products  i.e crude costs + refining costs+ crude and refined fuel transport costs + VAT/excise charges + bank charges + profit?

3) Would be IOCs agree to sell crude to local refineries at below international market prices considering that they are are tied to long term crude supply contracts to foreign refineries at global spot prices? If they are forced to, would the FG reimburse them of that loss considering that the IOCs are not charities like NNPC?

4) What makes the author think locally refined fuel would be cheaper than foreign ones? Is he vouching that local refineries can run more efficiently than foreign ones? Has he considered the cost of doing business in Nigeria? How many commodities produced in Nigeria are cheaper than foreign sourced identical commodities? What makes refined fuel different?

5) Would we be complaining about refineries not working if they were run by the likes of Shell, Exxonmobil or Oando and not by the corrupt and inept Nigerian government/civil servants?

6) Has any one wondered why food or any economically priced good has never been scarce in Nigeria? Why is there no room for rent seeking or patronage or corruption or fraud in food production or any non-social goods produced by many competing suppliers? Why fuel or electricity or only monopolistic social goods supplied by the Nigerian government?

7) Why cant we ask the government to start forcing every seller of anything in Nigeria to be selling at government dictated prices and then see what happens?

The laws of economics and corrupt average Nigerian's nature will always defeat the most noble social/political goal the FG has when it to comes to the supply of fuel. What works in Saudi or Venezuela or Iran or Libya will not work in Nigeria due to the peculiar Nigerian factor.

oga mi kalokalo, may god bless you and your family for eternity for your thought-provoking questions

i think the poster has done very well to analyse it as he has done, and although there are some errors in some of his conclusions, most of his statements are very valid, however, kalokalo gives a different angle to some of the issues, which to my mind isnt mutually exclusive of the posters', in other words, they should be taken side by side in order to get an even fuller picture of not only our oil and gas industry, but of the state of play in our country as a whole
