You need to take care of your FOMO (fear of missing out) before going into trading or investing. Set your own goals and stick to it or else you may end up taking the wrong advice.

I agree with you...Robert Kiyosaki mentioned it in his book rich dad poor dad, there are opportunities in the stock market but most times when you read about them in news or on a forum like this they are already stale, you have to have an investor foresight and be able to see things before they happen like the people that have invested hugely in the healthcare and pharmaceutical stocks as early as March those are the ones that will be making the real millions when vaccines comes out

Usually 'back-to-sender'

Lol

Well don’t you think using a domiciliary account mitigates the currency risk?

"What are the available withdrawal methods?
For security reasons, we will send your withdrawn funds using the same payment methods you have used for funding your account. If you have funded your account using:

Bank transfer - We will return your funds to your bank account
Debit/Credit card - We will refund the money to your card.
If you have used multiple cards, our system will select one of them to send your funds to.

Note: When you have used various methods of payment to fund your account with us, we will send your money to your debit/credit card."

Hope this helps...

I think I get it

So say if I do a bank transfer from a domiciliary account during withdrawal they’ll transfer to my domiciliary account. This is what you mean right

Most of the online platforms outside Nigeria are registered and somewhat Licensed.

More so, they are trading in US stocks either under their registered names or using a proxy/Licensed brokers.

In some instances, you sign digitally to agreements involving their chosen brokers.

Apart from the risks of investing in equities, other known risks are not limited to ‘lack of transparency, currency risk, volatility‘ among others .

In my view, your fund and transactions are secured considering also the above ^^^

Thanks for your response

In your opinion other than the risk of investing in equity what are the risk or challenges of using this online platforms to invest in foreign stocks?

You earn your dividends if the stock pays dividends.

This is not paid directly into your bank account with e-dividends mandate like in NSE but into your portfolio account with your e-broker.

I earned dividends from DG few days ago. WHT was however deducted.

In your opinion which of those apps for foreign stocks is the best?
Investment / Re: Us Stocks Pick Alert by LegitBitcoinBuy(m): 10:28am On Jul 31, 2020

Yes!

How please?

I know that in NSE stocks all you need is an e-dividend mandate what about those for foreign stocks

Is it possible to earn dividends from your foreign stocks?

Even if it gets to 1k per dollar, that is not really the issue. We should put our house in order. It is a miracle that Nigeria is still a country today, considering the high level of corruption, insecurity and weak govt policies. Lets put our house in order and every other thing will fall in place.

Which house Is it the one that China will still take possession of ??

Some people traveled abroad got exposed to good opportunities where their talents were appreciated now they think every Nigerian youth is either a criminal or too lazy to create opportunities for himself without understanding what we are going through here.

If you like return to Nigeria and send your kids to Nigerian schools let’s see how far they’ll go without recommendation or help.

He thinks we all wake up here and the first thing we do is to take ogogoro and play draft from morning till night.

When Govt decided to take their funds off the banks to d TSA what happened? Didn't the Banks lay staff?

It's very easy for Govt to kill any private sector, just one policy and that's it.

Or perhaps, he wants us to build space shuttles like Telsa and co. Too many people and talk, when it's time to act they can't do shit.

I think he’s been gone for too long he now compares Nigeria to Canada. CBN loan ko just the same way they shared food to kids in school during lockdown. That guy reads the news too much I think he should leave his Canada and come and apply for the loan Mr solution

Greetings to all the bosses here.

I want to start trading stocks but as a young new investor I intend to start small and grow with experience and practice.

However I need a bit of help in determining the stockbroker firm to use since I’m starting small.

I did some research myself and I came up with two firms;

- Chapel hill denham
-Morgan Capital securities

However I need advice from the experienced ones here to decide which one to go for or if you know any other firm that’s better than this two for small investors.

My major concern is sustainability I want a firm that will not close up in the nearest future and have me running around.

I await your kind responses.

Thanks.

Good morning nairalanders
I will like to get opinions from sound investors on this topic.
I have a paid job,but would like to make investments so I can have multiple streams of income.i saved up some money and also got a load from a cooperative and was thinking of investing some part in themap.ng (logistic bike) business and the remaining part in westagro(agric) business.
Am at a dilemma as to which business can stand the test of time post covid economy and also which ROI would really make sense to me,where I can get good returns and build for many years by investing and reinvesting.

Hi I don’t know much about Agric business but I’m sure they’re great people here on Nairaland that will help you out.

I was also considering Themap investment but I’m trying to figure out if it’s a legit business or just a scheme.

Could you please describe to me your confidence level with them ?

Thanks

That is why you are asking questions on okada business here? What stops you from opening a new thread so that you can get answers without disrupting this one?
Please stick to the thread and ask only relevant questions. Learn to obey simple rules.

Don’t quote me again please

The question wasn’t for you

You’re obviously too dumb to answer

Is this treasury bills? You are derailing this thread. Open another thread for this and post the link here.

You don’t need to be hostile I only asked a question.

I think this thread has gone beyond Treasury bills since the rates crashed, we’ve talked about Real estates, Oil , mutual funds and even the recent Sukuk bonds and it was welcomed I don’t see any reason why I can’t ask my question and meanwhile if you have no contribution to make please stick to reading and stop the policing you’re just making the thread too long for people who want to add valuable contributions.

Good day

Please I recently heard of this company Themap.ng where you invest 780k to buy a bike for deliveries and they pay you 30k weekly for a year. They’re registered with CAC and they have 3 offices in Lagos, everything looks clean but I just wanted to do some further due diligence by asking you guys.

Is anyone here into the business or have you heard of anyone doing it and what do you think about it.

Please be kind with your response.

Boyhood:
*Unregistered Investors For E-Dividend Payment*

Unclaimed dividends increased from N109.1 billion in Devember 2016 to N130 billion in December 219 (SEC, 2020)

You can however search if you or your loved ones have unclaimed dividends using Security and Exchange Commission Portal and
claim your dividends with these steps.

Step 1: Input your first name and last name into this link https:///exQBBrd to get a list of your shares from SEC.
This will give you a screenshot of all the companies you have shares in, and the registrars in charge.

*Note:* if you have changed your name due to marriage or other reasons, search with your previous name and also try different format of name e.g those with prefixes e.g 'Olu', 'Oluwa' etc

Step 2: Take note of your registrar’s name.
A registrar, is the company that keeps the shareholder’s details for other companies. So, your shares could have data with different registrars.

Step 3: Download and fill your registrar’s form which is beside the company's name on the website.

Step 4: Submit your form.
Some companies require you to go to your bank and get a bankers confirmation, so they can initiate the e-dividend form for you.

Once this is done, your account will be credited automatically with the e-dividend going forward.

*© Gboyega Ojuolape*

*PS:*
You may check for your late parents names who died intestate.

What about a person that’s just starting out?

Say hypothetically, if someone registers through a company like United Capital to buy shares how would such a person register for his own e-dividend ?

You want a free risk investment...
Your moniker says...

Why is my mind telling something? *just kidding*

You on track,You'll definitely get the best advises in here meanwhile i have been feeling skeptical about Bitcoins business however i am sure some can be legit...
Do you mind to school me plus many ghost readers in here about the biz...
Thanks buddy

For short-term gains it’s all about knowing when to buy, currently it’s a good time to buy the prices are down to $8700 from $9500 last week, it’s very certain that the price will go up just depends on your risk appetite and how long you are willing to wait, you can buy now and wait to December it’ll definitely be above 10k or buy now and sell mid April when it’s back to 9k+ it just depends on your risk appetite and how long you are willing to wait.
And one other thing don’t invest what you can’t afford to lose.

Thank you ma’am

Ma I thought about it too my only concern was that the regular interest rate for a savings account is 4.05% (and it is compounding) while the MMF is usually fluctuating and it’s currently around 5-6% across all the asset management companies, I thought that after transaction costs it won’t be much difference between MMF and bank savings it’s why i didn’t consider it in the first place.

What do you think ? Is there any other option you can advise me on?

Sholapey:
You can invest in money market funds, the interest rate is about 5% at the moment.

Thank you sir

Sir I also refer the question about to you
emmanuelewumi:

Kindly sow it into the life of your spiritual father, that is your Pastor, Imam, Rabbi or Priest.

It should end in praises in 2 years time.

Don't mind me ooo, buy money market fund

Good day bosses and to the boss ladies in the house, I have been following the thread quietly for while now, I have come for your advise on a financial decision I am about to make.

I have 4m in my account and I am still trying to save it up to 10m to be used for a specific project in 2 years time.

While I am still hustling, I would love to put the 4m in a risk free investment that can earn interest from now to 2 years time.

What would you advise me to do? And based on your knowledge in the financial system where would you advise me to invest the money?

Thanks in advance
