This is my real name OK? I'm not hiding. When I was working illegally as a restaurant cook in the USA, I built a house for my family in Nigeria. It's nothing special, I know plenty of cooks, security guards and taxi drivers who have built houses in Nigeria. You guys keep saying Nigerians here don't have money, but diasporans send $10 to 25 billion dollars back to Nigeria every year. Why do you keep repeating an obvious lie?

I've realized many people living in Nigeria have no idea of the wide difference in earnings between Nigeria and the Anglo-West. When I see how Nigerian wax poetic at the prospect of earning ₦1 million per month, I just laugh. That's LESS than $1000 today. Ridiculous, and you have the Anti-Jakpa Crew ranting about how they would rather have ₦10 million in Nigeria than migrate to the UK or USA. That's how I know all those guys have NEVER been abroad. Just faking their talk, it's my failing that I even bothered with them.

Anyway believe whatever you want. Good Luck to Nigerians.

everybody have an idea of the wide earning difference for sure. What most people don't know is the more the earning, the more the expense overthere.

You built a house from the UK for your parent, oh that's great. But many people who reside in Nigeria are also doing the same..

Someone earning a million naira monthly in Nigeria will live far better socially, emotionally and financially here than someone earning equivalent of 5m naira ($5000) before tax in the UK.

The percentage of people earning 1m naira here might be very little, likewise percentage of Nigerians immigrants earning 5000$ and above monthly legally is minimal.

I have a friend that start up a business last two month in Nigeria with just 3m naira, luckily for him he has started making sales of averagely 2m naira monthly. Not everybody will be lucky here in Nigeria, also not all immigrants over there will be lucky too.

It is way smarter not to show off ignorance.!

You don't even have a clue of what a children residential home is but you go on as if you do!

Where do you think many of the children taken away through the courts from their families because of abuse, are taken to?

For a looked after child living in care, the organization providing the care are paid a minimum of about £60,000 per month for only one child!.

If that child by the judgement of the court and assessment of the social worker is decided is going to be a sole resident, then only that child will live in that 3 bedroom duplex with a car attached to the house 24/7 for taking the child to shopping, cinemas, doctor's appointment etc reason why if you are doing day shifts you are required to have a full UK driving license.

For that one child alone, there would be about 6 support workers, one team lead and one registered house manager (house managers come to work at the home from Monday to Friday, 9am -5p.m and are paid about £4,000-£6,000 per month depending on experience).

UK government pays for the continuous training of residential children support workers up to at least Level 5 Diploma in leadership and management in residential childcare, after which you become a registered house manager. Any children residential support worker who is dedicated to work and focused on the trainings can become a registered manager in 5 years.

Ask anyone you know living in the UK legally if it is difficult to afford a car. The lady I used as an example can easily buy a used car with what she saved in a month but if she wants new car, she can as long as her credit is good then every month she pays about £250. Go outside a residential home and see nice cars workers pull up to work with, owning a car is not a big deal here.

nanny is nanny abeg. Owning a car is easy, but maintaining a car and other expenses that comes with it is the main issue. From that your car you will still pay taxes, pay the car bill and so many expenses.... in short wat u are saying is that there is job and we should all keep migrating to the Uk

Let me break it down.

A single Nigerian lady who is legal in the UK and works full-time as a children residential support worker (basically a professional parent). She works Tues morning from 8a.m to 9p.m earning £144 for that shift with free meals, then from 9p.m when the waking night staff has taken over from her. she goes in to the designated room in the house to sleep and she is paid another £56 for sleeping in there as she will be a backup should there be an emergency during the night shift.

She wakes up Wednesday morning, baths, have breakfast and resume work in the house at 8a.m repeats the same circle of the previous day, then Thursday she works from 8a.m to 9p,m and she leaves the house for her home......earning her £544 for the week, expected to show again up next week Tuesday....her gross pay at the end of the month will be £2,176.

She is free on Fridays, Saturdays, Sunday and Mondays......she decides to work for an agency on Saturdays, doing a 12hrs shift at £17/per hour and that is £204 every Saturday and 4 Saturdays is £816.

Combined is £2,992, after the deduction of National Insurance, Income Tax and pension...should be going home with at least £2,300 per month.

She pays rent for £500 (bills inclusive), transport for both work and leisure at £150, groceries and toiletries at £150, phone and Netflix subscription for £35, clothing and footwears £200, hairdo £50, other miscellaneous expenses £100.

Will she not save comfortably?
children residential support worker AKA (Nanny)/househelp

someone down here in Nigeria will be reading ur post now and using it as a basis for his or her relocation. Thinking the job as a Nanny is readily available

Are you being paid by the Govt for being a Nanny, or you are being paid by the host family? A family paying two workers about £4,352 per month means they earn far more than what they are paying you too monthly, and they might be just an averaged UK resident who are not that rich or wealthy. You working under them will be categories as what? (Poor) less privilege.

If you are working for the govt, you must be incharge of pretty lot of children, with a shift of 13hrs on the go, isn't that exhaustive.

Looking at your expenses allocation, don't you think you are living a boring life? Was there anytime you saw people living better than you are in the UK and you wished you where like them.

Working to jobs and can't even afford a car or live a normal life in the UK means you are definitely amongst the low income earners. You know how even in Nigeria, some jobs are left out for the togolese and Niger 🇳🇪 immigrants, because majority of Nigerians have outgrown the job.

People who are cleaning yansh in the UK are very low income earners. Even the moni they earn is nor even enough to carter for there lifestyle there. Funny enough majority of Nigerians in the UK fall into this group

Sentiment asides, things always become harder down the years. Things where better during obasanjo period than yaradua period, things where better during yaradua regim than Jonathan regime. Things where better during Jonathan regime than buhari regime. Though buhari killed the economy with his bad decisions.

My main point is because fuel was 145 during Jonathan period does not meant he is perfect or so. Nigeria economy kept dwindling down the years. If Jonathan or obasanjo where the one rulling now, inflation and bad decisions of the past administration will still affect them.

Do you know that the #500 is even too much because there's everything a woman need to cook in bulk in the house. Meat, crayfish, Maggi, salt, seasonings.....

I mean everything. All she buys is things we can't buy in bulk which is tomatoes and pepper. Please guys what's your take?

Here in the north all these perishables are too cheap, she just steps out of the house and buy them from women selling just in front of our house.

Before some people start saying I'm stingy, you must also know that she doesn't lack anything. I give her pocket money and also buys her anything she needs as far as i can afford.

It's good one plans his/her life early enough to avoid story that touches.

Some of our parents never believed that the country will become what it is today.

My father told me how cheap lands were in the country when he was in his 20's. He regretted not investing enough due to shouldering many responsibilities especially bringing his siblings and extended families to the city. He nurtured them till they became of age. When he realized what's up, time has exceeded him as we the children have needs too.

Now, I'm asking the following question: between owning a car or house, which would you advice someone in his 20's to acquire first?

Both can yield returns as long as they can be used in the proper way for investment.

Can we have more people comment on this to help many who are still in their 20's and able to fund any of the assets?

Note: Some young folks are doing legit work earning in $$$. I have some techy guys in their 20's as software developers, Blockchain DAOs, Freelancers, Content creators, YouTube influencers, Social Media Marketers, 3D animators, AI engineer, Bitcoin minning. They evolve around tech working remotely. So, not all of these guys in their 20's are yahoo yahoo, at least these ones I can guarantee.

We engaged in a discussion where they raised the above question about which is best between owning a car or house at their ages.
you fit use house collect loan from bank. U no fit use car, unless them go collect your car down

Land, long-term investments like stocks, commercial papers, or bonds.

What do you want to do with a house in your 20s knowing very well that you would probably relocate 20 times within the next 10 years?

A remote worker without a family? What do you want to do with a car, sir?

There are certain things you don't do unless you are one of the most sought-after professionals. A certified doctor or surgeon can decide to blow his salary in his 20s and 30s and he still won't suffer in his old age. Try it in your 20s with your remote bitcoin mining job (or with any of these new generational jobs/industries) and watch adverse penury dine with you before age 35. Use your head oo.

With new generational jobs (tech, etc.), you have to secure your future before any instant gratification.

if you build a house in ur 20's, u won't suffer in your 30's. That house u built with 40millon today will be worth 120m in a decade. According to Nigeria inflation.

So if u go broke in ur 30's after building a house in ur 20's, just sell ur house

Good evening house.

I am in a dilemma and I need advice on what to do.

A bit of background about myself: I am a 29 years only child from a very poor background. I work for an IT firm which i joined in 2019 as a graduate trainee.

My total income is around 490k (400k from main job, 90k from a writing side gig).

My challenge:
Recently, My host have told me to look for my accommodation and I have been searching for houses. Unfortunately, the places closer to my places of work is expensive.

I work in VI and the cheapest mini flat I have seen in close vicinity is 1.2M at Ajah.

I also have have a building project I am undertaking in the village that is at roofing stage and my parents have been pressuring me to settle down as the only child.

My dilemma is this, If i go for the house at Ajah, it will eat a bulk of my savings, thereby making it impossible for me to complete the building project or even start the process of settling down.

If I go for a cheaper but farer location, I will be spending more time in traffic.

Please, how do I manage this?

THIS STORY IS ACTUALLY FROM A FRIEND, HE SENT IT TO A WHATSAPP PLATFORM WE BELONG TO. I AM SEEKING ADVISE AND ASSISTANCE FOR HIM HERE PLEASE

My childhood friend is based in Texas, USA. He traveled out 12 years ago. Actually I work with government in Nigeria with a salary of 180k per month. It is becoming increasingly tough to take care of family responsibilities so early this year, I started making moves to relocate to US or Canada.

But the issues surrounding japa are quite enormous so I reached out to my friend to seek his advise, suggestions and possibly financial loan which I will pay back. He gave me some important reasons why I shouldn't migrate. He spoke about my age, no technical skill, finances, leaving known for unknown and difficulties faced by new comers in America. I didn't agree with these reasons even though he sounded genuine. I left him and started making other moves but eventually realized I still needed him.

8 months later, I spoke with him again, he repeated the same reasons why I shouldn't relocate. I am not 50 yet, I know a 56 year old man who relocated to Canada late last year and today his family members have started faring well here in Nigeria. Infact, his son who is presently rounding off his NYSC will be moving by march next year so what is the fuss about my age? I have made up my mind to stop seeking his support and carry my cross myself.

Thank you all.
why are you asking him to sponsor ur relocation sir. Its because he dint have money to give you that's why he is discouraging you. If u are financially buoyant amd can sponsor yourself without you asking a loan from him, ge won't discourage you.

The certificates with the triangle logo are new, from 1997. Tinubu claimed to have graduated in 1979 so they couldn't have given him the particular result he submitted as authentic to INEC. What Baba Agbado did was to look for CSU certificate format online (he foolishly chose 1997 own) then slap on his name and forge the signatures of his supervisors. Doesn't matter if he actually attended CSU or not, the certificate is FAKE.
