As the 7th Senate winds up ahead of the inauguration of the 8th Senate on June 4, the upper legislative chambers is at the moment caught up in a high-level of intrigues, horse-trading and lobbying, backstabbing, in a bid to outwit one another or zone on who becomes the next president of the Senate. However, this was even as facts have emerged that the President- elect, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, rtd, is not willing to support any Senator or member of the House of Representatives who has had or still has any corruption case or matter with the anti-corruption agencies or police for the leadership position in the National Assembly. Also President Goodluck Jonathan and the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari met Friday in the Villa. President GoodLUCK Jonathan, President Elect General Muhammadu Buhari accompanoied by the APC National Chairman Chief John Odigie Oyegun at the President. APR 25 2015 Buhari, it was gathered is said to be uncomfortable with most of the aspirants currently fighting for the National Assembly, as they have one case or the other to answer with the anti- corruption agencies especially the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Apart from corruption, the president-elect was also said not be interested in working with those alleged to have links with insurgents like Boko Haram. It was not known which zone would produce the Senate Presidency but sources said yesterday in Abuja that the Senator Bola Tinubu bloc in the All Progressives Congress, APC, was allegedly working to ensure that the former governor of Benue State, Senator George Akume, emerged. The party had already zoned the position to North Central. The search for who heads the Senate would have been sealed if Senator Chris Ngige from Anambra State had won the election as the position would have just gone to South East geo- political zone of the country without any stress. Saturday Vanguard gathered that the Tinubu group was backing Akume for the singular reason that the former governor of Benue State is the oldest in the opposition camp who came to the Senate on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, thereby making the party popular in his area. The North East geopolitical zone of the country also angled for the position of the Senate President saying that such position would placate them after Boko Haram insurgency ravaged the zone. The zone also argued that it produced the second highest number of votes after the North West, for the APC, adding that with this singular contribution to the success of the party, the position of Senate President should go to them. But they have to succumb to party decision Thursday morning that zoned the seat to North Central. . As the race for the position begins, Senators Bukola Saraki, Kwara Central; Senator George Akume from Benue; Senator Abdullahi Adamu of Nasarawa State; Senator Danjuma Goje of Gombe State; Senator Ali Ndume from Borno State, among others are said to be interested in occupying the position of Senate President. Only one or two of the candidates jostling for the Senate President had no case with the EFCC. One even has a Boko Haram related case in court. It was learnt that Buhari would want to respect the independence of the National Assembly. However, he would not want to support any one who has had a graft case in order to enable him have a clean break from the past and pursue his anti- corruption stance to the letter. “The President-elect respects the rule of law and would not want to meddle into the politics of the National Assembly but he is not comfortable with any one who has or has had a corruption case being the Senate President,” a top party source said Friday. Interestingly, of all the aspirants into the Senate Presidency, one of the two said to be very transparent has questions about his social life. The aspirant was said to have a lot of things going in his favour except his drinking habit, even as he was alleged to have undergone some transformation in his behaviour and thus could prove his critics wrong. Those working for this particular aspirant told Saturday Vanguard that ‘’a personal habit which may affect an individual character is better and manageable than an alleged corrupt person.’’ The change in the position of the Senate President and other leadership positions had became imminent following the woeful defeat of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, by the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC. So should we watch our fellow countrymen in SA die because we want to eat? Is this supposed to be a threat from MTN to us or what? |
Education in 2015? This isn't 20 years ago. Graduates are spewing out every month..Unemployment is a bigger problem than education. Maybe in the north, it might be a problem. But wait, education? Really? |

Media analytics company, Playspread, captured and analyzed the top songs that were played on Nigeria’s airwaves in 2014. According to Playspread, they only chose Nigerian songs that had a play count above 1000 on both TV stations and radio stations for at least three-quarters of the 201 stations they monitor across 6 geo-political zones. Most of the songs were released in year 2014 except for some few exceptional ones in the previous year. The list is occupied by 63 artists with Olamide having the highest number of songs on the list; 6 of them 8 songs enjoyed play count of more than 10,000, although 5 of those songs (released 2013) had extended shelf lives into 2014. How are you calculating your interest? Its per annum. You have to divide for 365 and multiply the result by the number of days you want to fix the money for. All these big money you are stating as interest is very wrong. No bank gives you 35k on 500k for those number of days. Are they into round-tripping |

cktheluckyman:He will win north as well with Buhari's endorsement |
And where will the religion come to play? Is it southwest where religion comes after competence or the north who will see the pair as a win-win. APC won't have a foothold in the south south and south east. Not choosing a strong candidate from south west will open the gates for PDP to move in. APC should exploit their strong points rather than trying to ammend their weakness....they might just lose everything in the process |
If what he said is true..then I am sorry Nigeria...recovery will take a generation of lots of sacrifice. Please people ignore the messanger, criticizing him won't solve the inherent problems, you will only feel good insulting him while what he talked about still remains. The country has decayed and is already smelling |

Playspread, a music intelligence company that deals with media monitoring and big data analytics has released a State of the Nigerian Music Industry infographic for the period May-July 2014. Let's assume that we have a man who was caught selling sensitive information to a foreign government. He was legally tried and convicted of treason against the country. Even though the man realized he had made a terrible mistake and was sorry for what he had done, the severity of the crime required a death sentence be given to him based on the laws of the land. This prisoner is on death row awaiting execution. But in a spirit of forgiveness and grace (unmerited favor), the President grants the man a full and unconditional pardon and has him released from prison. Does this pardon received by the prisoner now nullify the legal code of the country? Would the man be able to break any and all laws with impunity after his release? Would he be able to quit paying income tax, traffic in illegal drugs, distribute child pornography, or even murder another citizen, without having to worry about the consequences of his actions? Just using human reasoning, it's easy to see that the pardoned man would NOT be free to break the laws of the country after his pardon. In fact, it's reasonable to expect that the man would be so thankful for his undeserved reprieve from death that he would become a model, law-abiding citizen. How do you think the man would react to someone who advocated that he actively set out to disobey any other law? I imagine that he would reject such advice, and have nothing to do with the one giving it. Through His grace, God has provided a way for us to be pardoned from the death sentence we've earned by breaking His Law. Why, then, would someone assume that this pardon (grace) negates the Law of God? Why would someone repay the unmerited favor shown to them by God with a rebellious disregard for His commandments? Why would someone think that an eternal, unchanging God would contradict Himself by requiring believers to disobey His own Law in order to maintain His divine favor? Culled from a source online |
Clarence is good but when it comes to green screen and graphics works, mex better. Do you see this happening in Nigeria very soon? Many US internet cafes have permanently shut their doors as mobile and wireless technology continues to grow. Are these outlets ultimately destined for the dustbin of history? With fewer customers coming through the door, the Internet Garage cafe in Brooklyn, New York, has been forced to reboot its business plan and turn into an internet-service provider. In a digital world full of mobile computers, experts believe what is happening in New York is a reflection of what may soon happen in many other developed nations. "This was all part of the evolution of technology or society as we go along," says Sree Sreenivasan, Columbia University's chief technology officer. by BBC's Matt Danzico For more: http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-20307609 |
I think the prophet said he will win and not that he will become president. Remember June 12? Besides I don't think its in order to judge things you know little about...if I was deep in ministerial work, then I might be able to say one or two things. Focus on your hustle. |
I never knew tribalism in Nigeria to be as serious as this till I took a music business idea to one of the popular artists in the country who also doubled as an executive. He didn't have the ability to invest at the moment and vehemently opposed my meeting with other likely investors not for any reason but because they were from other tribes. We as a people have been mentally enslaved, and it trickles down to nairaland as well. A foreign country wants us to come and fight for their interests and ideals which will most likely lead to the death of recruits and it turns into a matter of tribal war, without stopping to think for ourselves how to become great if not as a nation but individually. While different orientation and upbringing have led us to this faulty thinking, we will continue to be foolish to dwell and develop on this maligned thinking. We are doomed to fail with such close hearts. |

I highly doubt if a business man will want to drop such money whether cash or asset within this timeframe. I believe some kind of deal must have been reached. |
