The last thing you want to do is buy a car without test driving it (or having someone close to the seller check it out for you). And most especially you do not want to do that with an E60 (2004 and > bmw 5series). They are extremely complex machines, and one you wouldnt want to make a mistake purchasing,

Its an online ecommerce software called ATG. The organization decided to deploy a new application to handle its transactions. The project had been on going for the past 2yrs, and it was quite challenging because the ATG software was virgin terrain for most of us.
We already had the application in dev and qa environments for a while. But the cutover date when everyone started using the new one was in August.

For Oracle Enterprise manager, the account owner is the sysman account. So you need to log into the database as the sysman owner and do an alter user sql.
'alter user sysman
identified by.'new password'

Then log into Enterprise Manager Using the new password you set. You can the use sysman to grant privs to other users on the database

p.s, mention in future posts, mention you oracle version and os version. There are usually subtle differences that could affect what you do on the database.

A40, I got the email, but i have been very busy. Our project went live in August and we had a 3week stabilization period. So we just got out of that. That is why I havent responded. Please send the email again and i will address it,

Thanks

If he was meeting with the president, then I think we should have seen photographs and it shpould have made the news. If he is meeting with officers in lesser capacities, then why does he have cabinet ministers.
There should be pictures (unless ofcourse he is truly in the hospital). I believe it is time, the press should start dedicating reporters to follow the president on foreign trips and bring back photo reports of events,

People should not be blamed for whatever decisions they make with regards to moving back to Nigeria.
It is a whole host of factors. Fact is, some people will move back, some wont. Some people are doing a lot better in the diaspora than they did when they were in Nigeria. And some people are doing a lot better in Niaja than they ever did whilst living in diaspora. Its all relative and different factors will drive those decisions, no matter how ill-informed the decisions will seem to the bystander

Fact - Life is hard everywhere (in Nigeria, UK or America
Fact - Not everyone in Nigeria has a good job.
Fact - Not everyone in diaspora is cleaning streets and working in a deadend job
Fact - Life is hard for an immigrant without the right papers (UK or us) is hard

Based on all this, everyone will make his decision to return/stay/leave Nigeria based one their personal circumstances. You will be amazed at how basic the average human needs are. If the average individual/graduate/worker (degree or no degree) can have at least a decent life, then I am sure people wont be sleeping at the embassies desperate to leave Nigeria. I personally do not believe everyone that leaves or attempts to leave hates the country, most just want a better life. The definition of what constitutes a better life is relative and then becomes subject to interpretation. I have a graduate friend from Nigeria who job hunted for 3yrs and couldn't get a job, he gets to the UK, and Thur sheer dint of hardwork, he has bought a house, is raising a family and sending money to his mom who is still being owed money for contracts done for her state govt. If you ask him, his definition of a better life is different and he has found it. While some would look down n the type of job he is doing, he rests on the fact that the job at least pays his bills and gives him a minimum standard of life he couldn't afford back home.
On the flipside, i know bankers who have quit their jobs only to get to the UK and realise none would recognize their level of achievements and they have to downgrade to take jobs they wouldn't even do in naija.
My point is, it is all relative. There are people in Nigeria doing honest work and doing very well, but in the same vein their are people in diaspora doing very well.

It is hard to make  a case to comeback to Nigeria, and use such dumb excuses that foreigners are reaping where Nigerians should be reaping
This excuse angers me because 1. Foreigners in Nigeria get better treatment than Nigerians
2. The Government doesn't have to wait for Nigerians in Diaspora to come and reap these benefits, you have more Nigerians at home than in diaspora, who can also benefit but are not benefiting. You have a handful of graduates who need jobs, who have brains and if given the same circumstances will outperform Nigerians in Diaspora, they should be given a chance.

A fully qualified doctor in the US can earn as much as 180 - $200k salary, as a freshly qualified resident. You Will be hard pressed to see someone like that come and look for a job in Nigeria, unless they are coming to setup their own practice.

There are IT professionals that earn 70-100dollars per hr depending on the specialization. Add that to the quality of life you would get, then a move back to naiaj might not be as alluring as it seems. Regardless of being offered 15million by banks in Nigeria.

Like lepashandy noted, I also know people who have moved back to Nigeria to take up good lucrative positions, but in that same breath, i know pple who have returned again after taking those initial decision.

Personally, I hate the term diasporan and i think it is dubious and separatist. As for me, I would love to move back to Nigeria, but I am not ready yet. Will i do so sometime in the future? probably, when I am less dependent on others on more dependent on myself to provide my daily bread,

All I will ask the governors and co, asking people to move back home is, why is it that the 1st mission most politicians embark on once they get into government is to buy houses in diaspora and have the children leave the country to school, if they really believed so much in the system,

I asked you earlier . . . forget the bible, assume it is false . . . now please EXPLAIN TO ME IN LUCID DETAIL how did we evolve to different races knowing full well that science proves that man must have evolved from Africa?

How did the Asians get their strikingly different features?

Answer me first!
Davidlylan,

Evolution
Most people refusal to believe in the concept of evolution comes from a subconcious presumption that humans are perfect, and that evolution ha sstopped. What if we havent stopped evolving? we are definitely getting smarter,

What seperates most hear from religios folks is, the acceptance that we dont know a lot of things and are willing to question them, as opposed to you who believe you have all the answers from a book that has a lot of holes. What is in genesis 1 and 2, spill it out and stop telling people to go read some verse. We all know anyone can manufacture anything from ambiguity

But ofcourse, I earlier called you dishonest, because, all through this discourse, I have not mentioned once what I believed, all I did mention was what I didnt believe and know not to be true

There is tonnes of evidence the confirm that Humans originated in Africa. I have many of these on Nairaland before but as per usually you guys just ignore it, preferring to go to myth of Genesis.

You indicated in one of your post that there was a pre-Adamite world and that clues to this is even given in the bible. I asked you for chapter&verse but you failed you provide such.
I would just ask Davidlyan for his own expalnation. So did God create the different races? Or one race? if he created one race, how did the other races come about? And which one did he create?
And if he created many races? at what point did the deviation come? And knowing the prejudice/devastation racial matters would cause, why did he create us in different races?

Just questions

Davidlylan,
using HIV/AIDS as an example is quite dishonest of you in this argument. Is AIDS the only killer? Or are you saying diseases have been the cause of a shortened life span? Give me a man in the perfect environment/setting (devoid of all the hustle and bustle of city life and take away any diseases), are you telling me he will live up to 800 calendar years?

lol,
there goes the condescension again, 'pray for them', and save them from sure perdition eh?

Lady, back to your response,
I am not quite adept at quoting here, so i will just take your points bullet by bullet,

How do you mean the teaching is the same, but understanding has improved? I will contend, it is the ease of interpretation to suit our lives/needs that have improved.

I think you have totally missed my point on the in-breeding line i put in there. How could Moses have been millions of yrs after Adam and eve when the bible dates the earth to be 7000yrs at most?

Lol, I am not talking about the christainity that started post-jesus 2000 yrs ago. i am talking about the road map (herein called the bible) that christians use as the proof of how they came to be (a la creation, garden of eden, etc etc). So please don't patronise me.

Again, i am not talking about the story-telling style of the different books of the bible. I have questioned the contents. Unless ou tell me, Genesis didnt say cain slew abel or that it meant a different thing. I am farmiliar with different writing styles, but the crux of any literature remains the crux, regardless of the mode of delivery,

Again, I laugh out loud, cos you just called me ignorant. Life spans do change, but as dramatically as 800yrs? with improving technology? I would have expected you to come with another angle that might have better explained it (e.g the calendar and dating system), tha is assuming they did live to be 900yrs old. LOL!!!! My dear, i am anything but ignorant,

When did Christianity come to Africa? lol, i know my history, I know there is a clear difference btw when it first reached africa and when it started getting influential, The influence didnt reallt start until the 15th century with the portuguese. But got to North Africa and Ethiopia a lot earlier than that,
Religion / Re: My Friend Hates God. Don't Know What To Do. Advice by LeMoor(m): 9:47pm On Aug 12, 2008
Lady,
Why do you assume I am an atheist just cause I question the bible?

if you read my 1st post on this thread, you might see where i am coming from.

The bible is a version a specific people's history to the exclusion and sometimes/later inclusion of others.
It amazes me how most christians are willing to wish away and pretend they understand how the earth suddenly became populated from 2people. Even though, Esau was scared of being sent east by God, because he didnt know what the 'others' would do to him.
Christians can't seem to explain how a diverse set of people can come from the 2people, and still remain genetically strong, even thoug we know in-breeding weakens the stock as you go down the line (not to mention the sin of incest).
it is amazing how noone can explain (or rather choose to ignore) literature from other people/cultures/traditions that have literature that predates christianiry and are astonishingly correct in accounts of things that can be proved and dated.
It is amazing how christians will not ask how men could live up to 900yrs old back then, but despite technological advances, a man will be lucky to get to a 100 ( i guess we have sinned, right?) and it conveniently gets dated to the 3scores and 10.

I could go on, but my angle is, just because someone comes to tell me God told him so, does not mean i wont question it, the same way i would question a pastor who performs a miracle on TV and the guy who has been blind from death can now identify all the different spectra of colors 5mins from miraculously receiving sight.

It is us africans that are the most laughable, buying everything that has been used to keep us down without questioning it. And this goes for religions in general, and not just christianity,

Finally, i dont expect you to believe what i believe, I just expect people should question things given to them especially when they have questions.
Religion / Re: My Friend Hates God. Don't Know What To Do. Advice by LeMoor(m): 9:14pm On Aug 12, 2008
Lady, I guess the irony in that post is lost on you,

The guy claimed, Jesus will not come until everyone has heard of him. I post an image of a child in a war torn zone, whose life has been directly impacted because of people using religion to perpetuate their cause (by the way, the image is from somalia). And I wonder why God who is perfect and impartial will let that happen to a child, just because of 'accident of birth' as claimed by that poster.

Lady, I dont get it,

I understand the English interpretation, and I accept it is an excuse. And it still goes down to the inherent superiority of one over the other. Why should everything about God be a derivative of the jewish language? because they are 'chosen'? a term that also means they have carte blanche to do whatever? And annihilate a people. Isnt it convenient that, when God tells them in the bible to break down the walls of Jericho, they claim it is Gods words, but when Uthman Dan Fodio, also claims the same thing, christians are quick to say he didnt hear from God? Isnt it ironic that it was ok, in the bible for the chosen pple to take what wasnt theirs? Yet it is actually a sin for any other to do it? Are we accusing God of double standards by just accepting all these?

A God that directs a specific set of people to Go and invade/vanquish another set which he also created? All because the bible said they were chosen? And you still cant clearly see a pattern and correlation with modern day events in the middle east? It is ironic, how someone comes to your doorsteps and tll you what you have is inferior, and that his is superior?

Same person whilst preaching you turn the other cheek when wronged, is looting and ripping you off, yet wont turn the other cheek when he is wronged? I am sorry, I dont buy it,

I dont buy a book of stories that tells me about winged angels, when the same winged cherubs, appear in greek literature that predates any known christian literture. I dont buy the story of the lake of fire burning with sulphur and brimstone, when the river styx, which the guardian was ironically Hades, is also a lake whose major contituent is sulphur, and it predates christian literature.

I dont buy stories, that will refuse to answer glaring questions about such things as dinosaurs and yet try to play it as the devil planting shadows inpples heads. (or maybe they got annihilated by Noahs flood?). I dont buy stories that turn logic on its head whet it cant explain stuff and tell me its a miracle?

Why did God stop appearing to man like he did in the days of Moses? why did his stance become more detached, and more by proxy through Jesus Christ? why did he become less vengeful and more compassionate? Did we his creations change?

I could go on and on,

ilysaporta:

well and acciden tof birth didnt qualitfy you for salvation over someone else, it just gave you a head start on salvation. The bible said that jesus can't come back until the word is preached to the four corners of the earth (basically meaning until EVERY living person has heard about jesus.) B/c then, nobody can claim that they didn't know of him.

And Christ has been proven. It is proven that Jesus Christ walked this earth. However, it hasn't been proven that he rose from the dead. The short answer to your question is that you cannot calculate supernatural things with natural measures. The rise of Christ hasn't been physically proven because it can be physically proven.

Explain to this child how he offended God by accident of birth? or is he paying for his fathers' sins?

Religion / Re: My Friend Hates God. Don't Know What To Do. Advice by LeMoor(m): 4:45pm On Aug 12, 2008
It is always amazing how quick people are to tear down others who have questions. And follow it with subtle threats of Hell Fire, despite the fact that even they do not have answers to the questions asked.

The poster asked why God created the devil, with the Omnipotent knowledge that the devil was going to rise up and challenge him and attempt to turn his creatures (humans) to hell (a word whose entymology predates christianity and comes from Hades, the greek god of the underworld). Assuming this account was true ( I am not saying it is, neither am I saying it is not), but does that make God an egotist? who lacked any worthy challenges, and relishes defeating the devil?

Back to the other questions, Someone also said the poster should hand his friend a bible. The bible isnt without its own holes (and please spare me the 'old backdoor excuse' that I should accept everything by blind faith).

The greatest evils ever known to man, have been perpetrated using religion (take your pick, the crusades, the jihad, slave trade (arabic and european), because religion ascribes superiority over adherrents of any other religion. I know most religious people will claim they are humble, but yet will 'pity' anyone who doesnt follwo their one true God.

Now lets go back to the bible that has been touted as the TRUTh. The bible is a historical account of a specific people (in this case the Jews?), to the exclusion and later inclusion of other people that also existed. There are a couple of literatures that predate the bible and have correlating stories.

If we arent allowed to question the accounts we have been given, so are we saying we accept God isnt perfect? and that his word actually changeth? How do I reconcile my scientific knowledge that proves that in-breeding within families will lead to children with weaker immune systems, yet absorb the fact that God allowed incest when he only 'created' two beings.

if there were only 4poeple on earth when cain killed his brother and attempted to run from God. Who was he scared off when he asked God, 'what if the 'others' find him? And who was God protecting him from when he put a mark on him and proclaimed that "ANYONE that found cain' should not harm him. Bear in mind that Adam only went back to 'know' his wife after this accounts and bore seth. yet Esau went east and managed to raise a whole family unto himself. (Note, I am not questioning God, I am questioning the accounts that have been handed to me). Why give me a brain if I am not supposed to apply it to question things that dont add up? I personall dont think this is a sin.

I personally dont argue religion, and try not to convince anyone to see things or question them the way I do, cause religious pple cop out and tell me it is all 'by faith', and you couldnt argue with that. But when people have questions, let them be, answer the questions, if you can, and if you cant shut up. But quit with all the condescending, hand the soul on the highway to hell a bible talk. Most people dont even know why they believe what they believe, except that they were born into it and have been indoctrinated with it, yet, they look down on other similar people born and indoctrinated into something different, and pity them because they are not 'saved'.

I will stop for now. But please let the poster be. He has questions in his mind, let him ask,
