Now this Ish is mad funny, They not comfortable with Luciano, but are comfortable with Ras Kimono? Whose whole repertoire includes the fake assed patois lifted from people like Luciano? and 90% of his music catalogue are whole songs stolen from Jamaican artiste?

Lets not act like, we dont know where most Nigerian artistes lift their inspiration from, P-Square, Tuface, Whizkid to name a few,

It is rude to throw anything at any artiste, if you dont like his act, leave, Saying Foreign artistes should not be invited to perform in Nigeria is all well and good, if Nigerian arstistes too will sit their asses in Nigeria and not go on tours abroad.

guysmat:

Lekki Toll gate Statistics:

Let's say you own an SUV and live on the other end of Lekki where you'd have to pass thru the 3 toll gates,

1 SUV x N150 x 3 tolling booths = N450.00  (almost $3 USD)

If you go to work in the morning and come back in the evening,  = 2 x N450.00 = N900.00

If you have to do this everyday of the month, then you'll be paying 30day x N900.00 = N27,000.00   cry   cry

Assuming everything remains constant for the year,
you'll be paying 12 months x N27,000.00 = N324,000.00 (or $2076) annually for just one car  shocked  shocked  shocked  embarassed  embarassed  undecided  undecided

And this is supposed to go on for the next 35 years       Who signed this agreement     cry  angry

And this is per individual, Take the average household, that has more than one care, and the figure you have is easily doubled.
And lets not forget, this prices will not remain static forever, they will be reviewed upward sometime (or would that be multiple times) in the future.

Not a well thought out plan.

Mr. Key, You really need to stop being melo-dramatic.
Why should you be ashamed of being black because of the acts of some? How do they represent you or what you stand for? I am yet to hear any white person apologize or feel ashamed to be white after the Norway Massacres, . Why would anyone see a Yob when they look at you? do you see a 419 every time you look at a Nigerian?

Don't make me laugh, what you talking about you haven't seen looting in Somalia? Have you seen a recent picture of Somalia? What is there to loot? carcass? half the people there are not even strong enough to break down any sort of barriers.

There is anger in the land, but does that justify burning businesses in their back yard? They are opportunistic fools who have taken what could have been a real issue/grievance and swept trivialized it. One of the fools was interviewed and she said she was getting her taxes back. she couldn't have been more than 16, so it begs the question who she paid her taxes to.

There is enough blame to go around, between the system, the govt p***y footing about and not dealing decisively with the initial riots, and bad parenting, but non of that blame is yours. They do not represent you. Unless one of your kids was there, then you can blame yourself for having not raised him/her right. But you really need to pull yourself together, hold your head up and go about your business, There are a lot more upstanding minorities in that society than the numbers causing problems.

Autos / Re: Nissan Maxima Observation And Advice by LeMoor(m): 4:05pm On Jun 06, 2011
@jason 2010,
Not having the adequate technical know-how to deal with a problem doesnt automatically translate to a car being problematic,
I can only assume you know nothing about the Nissan VQ35 engines, The engines are bullet  proof, and do not break. That engine was rated top 10 best engines since its introduction in 2002. It replaced the 3.0 VQ30 (which was also consistently ranked top 10 since 1995 when the awards started). The VQ35, was pushed off the list and replace by another Nissan Engine the VQ37 currently used in the infiniti engine (and which maxima enthusiast have been asking to be put in the Maxima).
Like everyone else has said, the gear system was a problem in the 6th gen, but this was in the early years (04-06) when they used 4speed A/T. But with the 5speed A/T, the (06-08) the problems were resolved, and Nissan went as far as backing this up by increasing the warrantly to 60k miles on the gear box as a show of faith, compared to the initial 36k miles.

Bottom line is, treat the car well, do not abuse it, maintain it when due, and you will have made one of your best auto purchases interms of what you get for the money.

The only down side to that car, is that the turning radius is atrocious, and you couldnt do a 3-point turn if your life depended on it. But that has been fixed in the 7th gen which isnt as bloated in terms of size.

Politics / Re: Fashola Strikes Again by LeMoor(m): 4:23pm On May 16, 2011
My 2 cents,
Whilst the guiding principle might be noble and real intent being to clear the streets of beggars. You still cant tell people how they choose to spend 'their' money. If there are no beggars on the streets, the citizens would have no one to give money to. Now the business of getting rid of the beggars belongs to the government, (that is why they were voted in, to solve the problems).

Telling people to give money to charities and any other group is also naive and based on an assumption that these groups are well managed and not corrupt. A cursory glance at any of the biggest charities in the world would tell you 75% of funds recieved, goes into overheads and not to the people they were intended for.

Cutting out the middleman is still the best way to help people (if that is indeed what you want to do), and should not be punished for it.

In my opinion, it is an idiotic law, that cant be enforced,

Who do u bear a closer Physical resemblance to, Shemar Moore or Djimon Hansou?

If u dont look like Shemar Moore  and/or have an American accent like Wesley Snipes when u speak, how then can u look outta place walking the streets of Kingston?
Interesting way to try and apply attributes,
One thing to note tho' Wesley speaks like Wesley but looks more like Djimon (not that there is anything wrong with that) than he does Shemar Moore.

Then, if what you say is true, and the students signed something before accepting any scholarships or aids, then they have an obligation to fulfill their end of the deal. Or else, the school would be right for coming after them to the extent agreed.

Are nigerians not recognized abroad, as highly skilled, intelligent and innovative? So why go to anoda mans' land, where u will always be the 2nd class citizen, to go pour our valuable knowledge u got here and leave your own country lacking of this same knowledge that can improve and cause immense developmental growth? I like the order.no one says u can't travel abroad to gather more knowledge to pour Into your own country.
But you are missing the point Ladipo, You simply dont Mandate such without creating the enablers to go with it.
Like someone already alluded to, provide the options and the jobs for them and see what percentage of the graduands will still be interested in travelling.
Politics / Re: AUST Bars Graduating Students From Seeking Jobs Abroad by LeMoor(m): 3:03pm On Dec 07, 2010
Simply not enforceable,
Only caveat will be if they were made to sign an agreement before they got the scholarships, else there is no way you can force someone to stick to a locale for jobs. And even if there was such a stipulation when applying for the scholarship, there will be a buy-out option with penalities (such as high interest charged on the funds now considered to be a loan) if you decide not to honor your part of the agreement.

But in no way can you revoke someone's certificate for getting a job where they want. And what is al the Visa talk? Are all graduands of this school Nigerian citizens, what if one of them won the Green card lottery, they will tell the American govt not to issue it?

There are better ways and subtler ways to enforce such.

@Cap 28- Thanks for saying the truth.

I know Nigerians for who we are will not own up to the fact that generally speaking abroad is not a 'bed of roses'. I have traveled far and wide due to the fact that i work for a multinational oil company and i am presently outside Nigeria for more than 1 yr now on cross-posting and what i can say is that there is no place like home.
Over these years i have seen Nigerians living abroad or just 'existing' abroad doing all sorts of jobs that you can't even imagine and yet just 'existing'. How many of these nairalanders that can boast of making 60-70K pounds per annum in UK legitimately? I have a brother that has been living in the UK with his family for 5yrs and everytime i visit London i always tell him to finish his degree and go back home because he will better of in Nigeria as some of his mates in the university are far ahead of him now.
I read a July 2009 JPT (journal of petroleum technology) magazine on job outlook where it was stated that many of the non-uk MSC Imperial college graduates 36 of 51 did not apply for jobs but decided to go back home What does it mean?
1.That people are getting to realise that you will be better of in your home country if you have the necessary competencies
2.There is nothing wrong in going abroad but strive to make yourself better by getting additional certification to position yourself for better opportunities at home.

A lot of Nigerians are still wraped up in their memories of getting 1st degree at home and not getting employment for years and manage to get into UK and US and start working in TESCO, NHS, Walmat etc and just earning just enough to survive and they will be the first to tell you that can't come back home.
How can they come back home when they have not been able to make themselves competitive?
Based on my contacts with them a lot of Nigerians really want to come back home but they are not in a position to do that now because its almost too late.

You need to get out a bit more and widen your sphere of interaction and go beyond the losers you know, What do you mean working for the NHS? Hope you know there are doctors that are employees of the NHS also?
I do agree with you on one thing though, 'abroad' is not a bed of Roses, neither is any other location in the world,

blinx4real:

Great discussion here and also very intellectual,
I have been privileged to work in a number of High Profile companies with recognition world over, and my conclusion is that what distinguihses a foreign worker from the Nigerian worker is not competence, but attitude.
The Foreign staff will never be late, he will never do fb and yahoo in the office, he will deliver on time without excuse, he will get to d office at 8am on the dot and leave at 5pm on the dot no more no less. But his Nigerian colleague will come in to work late, browse and read newspapers till 9, gist about the Nigerian situation with his colleagues till 10 attend meetings and then go for lunch, he comes back from lunch at 2pm instead of 1pm and blames the traffic or his car or the PTA meeting at the kids school. he is now in a hurry to deliver the job, he delivers late and badly presented work because he is out of time.
That is the issue with Nigerian staff.
We can deliver when pushed, we are as competent or even more competent that our expatriate colleagues but attitude and discipline is the wahala

interesting, is this restricted to the foreign worker in Nigeria, or all over the world. Saying foreign workers dont fb or yahooo, is err, a bit short of being the truth to put it mildly,

I see this matter is still raging. Bottomline is that the poster and everyone else are all correct: it depends on a person's peculiar experiences. However, the part I can relate with is that a lot of the (struggling) guys there seem to 'obtain' you when you come around, and you just wonder. But then the very comfortable ones are a delight to watch.

But the fact remains that majority of Nigerians that scamper overseas (not only UK) do so in search of greener pastures. If they were lucky enough to hit it big back home, they probably would not be "runnaway soldiers", and would only visit the UK and elsewhere on holidays as often as they like - as against being stuck perpetually in a foreign land in search of the elusive golden fleece. Maybe there is a sense in which one can correlate this to what the poster latently meant.
Again the arrogance, Words like 'scamper, being stuck perpetually in a foreign land in search of the elusive golden fleece', and 'if they were lucky to hit it big' is still displaying the same mindset that started this thread and it is a tad condescending, even if you do not realize it. Perhaps the 'golden fleece'  isnt totally elusive, maybe they found what they wanted, you never know. How may pple have being 'lucky to hit it big' in Nigeria in comparison to those who havent?
I keep saying, it is always wrong to use your own realities/experiences and project that on a whole lot of people. There are Nigerians struggling in the UK (, there are Nigerians struggling in the US, but guess what? there are Nigerians struggling in Nigeria too, who would give anything to even be able to have the opportunity to 'scamper' and become 'runaway soldiers'  to become stuck perpetually in a foreign Land.

Y' all need to stay in your lane. So ok, they are stuck, not happy, jealous or whatever other adjective you want to use to describe them, but let them be.
Politics / Re: Are Nigerians Resident In Uk Jealous Of Their Visiting Counterparts ? by LeMoor(m): 4:15pm On Jun 08, 2010
@OP,
Another one of these 'innocent, unbiased, truth seeking" questions. I see through it all. It still strives to support the underlying theme that, 'the runaway soldiers who have chosen to call Diaspora home' (your words) are jealous of those who can afford to travel twice a year. One would wonder who is really jealous here.

Why are Nigerians back home always trying to prove a point. Why is there the need to prove a point that those in DIaspora are not better than you, common, I mean, you can afford to travel 2ce a year (I can feel you breaming with pride, that you can afford to go to London 2ce a yr). GTFOH!!! If you feel people are jealous of ou because you are better than them, then stop showing up at their door, stop booking your tickets before finding out if it wil be convenient for them, or if they have plans,  stop asking them to give you invitation letter. Why dont you just show up in London, get a cab from the airport and get to that hotel in Park Lane or any other city for that matter - I am sure there are good hotels everywhere- and do your tourist business before heading back.

Car Talk / Re: Nissan Maxima 2002 Model Vs Camry Crystal Light by LeMoor(m): 4:27am On Apr 28, 2010
I am guessing the OP has no preference yet, and the topic says a Maxima Vs. a camry. My post only meant to say the comparison is apple and oranges. Car manufacturers, for the most part, compete amongst themselves in a big to capture market segments, hence models and specs.
The camry is is competitor to the accord, in terms of the market segment the manufaturer had in mind. The maxima on the other hand is sedan with sports handling in mind (was the first car to be tagged the 4DSC <4 door sprots car>). And is Nissans' flagship model.

In terms of ruggedness and resale value, It is relative. The Camry would always have better resale value because it is more popular and by extension has a better support infrastructure. In terms of ruggedness, the Maxima is more rugged than the Camry. In terms of fuel consumption, all manufacturers throw out numbers (the max averages 20-21mpg and the Camry averages 20-24mpg), but do not forget the maxima's engine is bigger and the performance figures are better, so the the consumption is impressive for engine., Bottom-line is, you are the only one who knows what you want in a car and what makes it right for you, fuel consumption, ruggedness, performance, interior finishing.premium sound etc,
Car Talk / Re: Nissan Maxima 2002 Model Vs Camry Crystal Light by LeMoor(m): 2:44am On Apr 28, 2010
Maxima> Camry.
You would compare the Camry with an Accord, and the Maxima would rank with an Avalon, which are the flagship models of both manufacturers,
