Hookups and hookups!

What is it about hookup, that almost every Nigeria lady you meet online ask for it. Gradually hookups is becoming a way of life for many ladies. Genuine friendship is now hard to find. This makes me wonder, majority of ladies out there are now somewhat ashawo. They are on watchout on social networks, they chat you up, initiate conversation. Before you know it, they are advertising themselves, "I am here for Hookups
ooo"; Like we meet, have fun and you. When the man is not quick to respond, some of them block
the man immediately. Such don't really have time to waste, they need to chat up other men, who are more serious and will pay well.
Where are we heading to. Since January this year, 13 out of 15 ladies I have met online stated plainly that they are here(on social media) for hookups. None is ready for friendship. Na so a man go wake up one day go marry ashawo. This is true because your next door neighbour could be ashawo. Before now, ashawo stay in brothels and clubs; today they stay in rented apartment, live as tenant and do their work wetin and outside their place of habitation. Na waaa oo. Me I tire for some ladies oooo

It is exactly about one week since the massacre at Lekki Tollgate, where many young Nigerians lost there lives bearing Nigerian flag. These are our Heroes past....they died fighting for their right...and they can't just be forgotten like that. Using this as foundational, the name Lekki Tollgate should be changed to "the Gate of Blood". So that when the coming generation ask why that name, the story of the brutal massacre at Lekki Tollgate might be told. There is no other name that now suits Lekki Tollgate, than the Gate of Blood. This name will avenge the death of the innocent youths who were wasted on that bloody night at Lekki Tollgate, now Gate of Blood.

Aba is rather capable of manufacturing so many useful products, but the problem of ethnicity and political region will never allow Nigeria to promote Aba. We rather prefer things from outside the country. But the truth is that most of us import Aba made things that had already exported to other countries. Aba is gifted in manufacturing, a lot of talents there but most of us pretend not to notice.

Those who reside in Abuja axis and most places in Lagos could testify to this. To this many might not want to believe, but it is a personal discovery. I wonder what is this parasite called Hookup, ladies online are hooking up, those in schools are hooking up, those in the street are hooking up, no wonder everything is hooking up.
Hookup has become new way of prostitution, most ladies are now prostitutes in disguise.
It doesn't take anything, she only needs Mb to be online, chat, meet and sex.

Introduction: Jamb has come to stay in this country, and thus a requirement to gaining admission into tertiary institutions in the country. Each year, host of applicants and candidates troop to Jamb’s centres to sit for the examinations that will usher them into higher institutions of their choices. I had the opportunity to observe candidates walked to their examination centers on Monday 16 March, and the following are my observations:

Timing for the Examination: some candidates must have really found it difficult to be at their places of examination by 7am, this very time is rather unfavorable; giving the fact that most applicants needed to travel more than 3 hours before they get to the centres. So many were late, many were not allowed to sit for their exams too. 7 am is rather so early for most candidates. Many candidates and their parents or guidance really agreed and expressed their dissatisfactions with 7 am examination schedule, 9 would have been more convenient.

Print out Slip: Jamb gave the instruction that the slip be printed out and photocopied, but host of candidates came without photocopying their Jamb slip, and thus got themselves destabilized by running around looking for photocopy machines. Why not get yourself ready before hand and save yourself further stress. You need to be calm and collected to be able to concentrate and sit for your exams. Running around could be avoided.

Reading and Following Jamb’s Instructions: Jamb was clear on the use of wrist watches, jewelries and phones. But host of those siting for the exam came with heavy dangling earrings and neck chains, some were even reluctant in removing them. Thereby distracting themselves and wasting their own time. I watched people looking for where to drop their phones, and jewelries, and many of them lost these items because they couldn’t remember whom they gave them or those that held them for them eloped with them. Why come to examination centers with things you have been instructed not to come with. You could do without these just for 2 hours.

Things to come with: if you know you are sitting for exam, why not come with required things. Most candidates who were sitting for Mathematics and Physiques were still looking for pencil when others are already being directed to enter into the examination hall. Some came with unsharpened pencils looking for someone that has razor. This is rather a sign that one is not ready for examination. Why not come with pencil, and if you are asked not to use it, you keep it outside than not coming at all with it when you actually needed to.

Jamb’s Centres are not for Fashion Parade: why not come to your place of examination dressing politely and not provocatively. You have come to sit for your examination and make your mark and noting more. Your score is what makes you stand out and not the kind clothe you wore to writing the examination. So dress well and avoid embarrassment. From my observation most people thought that they were in for fashion show rather than sitting for examination. Some who wrote in Catholic Schools where modesty is pronounced were asked to go wear something better. Why all these, when they could be avoided.

Parents and their Help: parents need not provide everything for their children, they need only provide the needful. As I kept my observations alive, I noticed that most parents were eager to enter examination hall to give their children who knew that they should need pencil for calculation during their Jamb examination, but fail to bring one along out of negligence. Some were really exchanging words with an officer of the law manning the entrance gate, when the fault is that of their children. You can’t give your children everything only the needful; I hope such parents will still go with them to university to help them fill their course forms and write their quizzes.

Loitering about: if your exam is by 9am, and those of 7 am have gone far, why not hang around bearing in mind that your own screening will start in earnest since the sole purpose you are there is to sit for your examination. I watched candidates denied entrance into the examination hall because they weren’t screened. What made the matter worst is that most of these candidates came to their centres in time. What is it that is calling for your attention more than examination you came to write? At times we are the cause of our misfortunes not really people in the village.

Reading Culture is dead: Majority of these applicant never read for Jamb. This is the fundamental truth, this will definitely be evident when the results start rolling out. A parent confidently said, that her son never read for one day, but that she brought him here because his center is far and the dad asked that she do so. Time is past when students who were to sit for examinations, come to their examination centres revising what they have read, now is all about pressing phone, listening to music and engaging in an endless gossip, when all these could wait. It is time that these young heart learnt that their primary purpose for being in school is to study, other things are frivolities.

Try as much as you can to be on your own: this is important because you don’t know what is following the other person. I am saying this because there are forces at work. If not how do you explain the case of a girl who came to the place of her examination a day before, slept around the area since her examination was by 7am, came to the school she were to write her examination by some munities to 7, and yet didn’t sit for her examination because according to her, she didn’t know when the screening started. She admitted that she saw other candidate lining up, but didn’t know that they were going in for examination she came for. Even her ears were blocked to the shouting of the coordinators. She succeeded in making one guy not to sit too because they were engrossed in whatever they were talking about. These two never sat for their examination, they went home sorrowfully, I wonder the lies they will tell their parents.

Conclusion: Many observations of these kinds abounds, as I watched young boys and girls walked round their examination centers and walk into their examination halls to sit for the ongoing Jamb examinations. It is rather evident that most of these young souls are carried away by their young age and youthful exuberance, they need a lot of guidance and direction. Many parents have really failed in this regard, and I ask if parents fail to guild and guard these young hearts now they are yet to gain admission into higher institution, when they gain the admission what happens. Check yourself as a parent if you have failed in this regard. We have a lot to do, lest our society will keep deteriorating. It all begins from the family. To our younger generation, there is nothing in frivolities, your primary aim of being to school is to study and pass your exams, other things na jara!

These are questions this nation has to answer. You don't carry the safety of common man and entrust in the hands of her sole enemy. These so called repentant Haram members have been fighting this country, suddenly they are termed repentant. How do we ascertain their repentance, how are we sure that they will not go back to their old ways of living?

The most annoying thing is that few of them are not even Nigerians, yet they have been recruited into Nigerian army.
When lots of youths have been looking for employment, even in Nigerian army and couldn't gain any. This is serious, we might not know how dangerous this very act could be but in near future, things will be clearer to us.

I believe this country could do better. But yet I still nurse some elements of doubt when I read and such news like the recruitment of formal Haram members into the military.

There are something they are not telling us. This country might be heading to her annihilation.

Greetings to everybody in the house. As this year runs to an end, I try to figure out my weaknesses. Fortunately for me - I did and it is poor communication skills(English). I think one of the prevailing factor behind this is that I'm used to saying local English and slangs to my fellow country men.
However, I made a resolution to have a very good command of this language I'm talking about.

Gurus in the house, how do I go about this?

Although my English might sound averagely okay to local standard but to international level? I'm no where to be found. Most of my foreign friends also complain about this.

the truth is that you have started improving it for making the move to speak well. English has come to stay as far as we are concerned. And we all should constantly look forward to speaking better.
These steps might help:
1. Read from good Novels. the truth is that reading culture is dying in our country and in recent future, Nigeria will have more illiterate than we have now, because many people are not willing to read.

2. Write down new expressions, phrases and words from the novels you read: this is essentially helpful. if you make use you them.

3. Try to Speak often... seize every opportunity to speak when you are in gathering. if possible make little jottings, and make your contributions politely.

4. Listen to good speakers, like Chimamanda Adichie, Ngugi wa Thiong'o and others. These supply you with good dictates you need in public speaking.
They are successful and good speaks you could learn a lot from.

5. Pick up a topic and speak about it: In the comfort of your room, make rehearsal as though you have a topic to present. check your capability, speak on the topic and make some necessary correction.

6. move with people who will make you speak always. This is rather important, when you move with people who make you speak your native language, then you will make little progress in spoken English.

Then you are on your way of being a successful speaker.
No one knows it all, we only need to try. you could be the best, me to. self help is all you need.

The truth is that a lot of people watch porn in recent times. not like before you need to go get a CD and play it in your computer or video player. Android Phones have made porn accessible. Don't wait until you catch him, you might not. call him, talk to him, tell him about the dangers of watching that, talk to him often. You could also tell the parents to watch out on him. The danger of porn is enormous, I know what i am saying and I could tell you that it is one of the hardest thing to stop when you get addicted to it. so he needs therapy and counseling. and you can do that. you must not shout at him, for he needs serious help. that is exactly what happens parents gives teenagers big phones and don't care about what they use it for. it is a product of parental failure. For those who said that he is curious and want to explore, that is not it. He is in danger of being a sex addict and he will masturbate to calm the fire burning in him as he watches porn. So he is in path of getting addicted to masurbation. If you claim that he is curious and want to explore, who knows, in near future he might rape your daughter. These things are connected.

ON FASTING
The truth remains evident, we can't serve God enough for our dependency lie in Him. He doesn't stand to gain something if we serve or choose not to. Our service to God is for our own benefits. Thus He blesses us with freewill to always make a free choice. We could decide not to service Him and Perish. He says, l live you between good and evil, life and death, yet He encourages us to choose life (Cf. Deut. 30:15-19). So you can't serve God enough.
As regards fasting, people tend to misunderstand what fasting is all about. Fasting goes with abstinence. You deprive yourself food in order to mortify your senses, for better service to God. People often miss the mark when it comes to fasting. Nothing says you must fast from food, nothing says you must fast when you are not strong. and nothing says you must fast until you cause yourself more harm than good.
You could abstain from drink, if you drink often, you could abstain from sex, you could choose to wear little or no make up if you so much love make up. In this way, you mortify yourself, you cease to do or have what you love most for the sake of greater good. You don't need to fast all day long, causing harm to yourself.
I really love Catholic teachinge on fasting, it states: a. You can only fast when you are 7 and above, 7 is often called age of reasoning, then one can make judgement about certain things. b. Fasting is not for the sick and nursing mothers. c. Instead of fasting to cause yourself harm, perhaps develop ulcer, abstain from certain things you love most. d. Those who are 65 years and above are not obliged to fast. e. When you fast and abstain from certain things, do charity. That is, if you used to drink 3 bottles of beer a day and you are abstaining from beer, give the money out to the needy, not keeping it to drink more bottles when you break your fast, and if you are fasting from food, no keep your morning food and add the afternoon food and consume it at the break of your fasting, eat moderately.
Fasting is rather a way of mortification, which enables one seek mercy of God, while one hopes for more breakthroughs from God. It is not a punishment, and it is not to be done frowning. After all, no one is forcing you to fast. Even those pastors that often tell you fast and fast, they don't really do much of fast as they proposed.

Intriguing! when such things happen, many thrill, others long to be like them, and thus many see it as worthy venture. But truth be told, it is not an ideal thing. if marriages of couples who take time to court, and sustain relationship end up in disarray, what will happen to those who did not sustain relationship before marriage.? I pray that this love at first sight last. marriage is not any easy, it needs preparation, lest one's marriage turns sour.

young man, it is not uncommon in recent times to see young girls do the litany of things you listed above. but one thing is evident, you are the boss here. student should not make you forfeit your call to father land, they shouldn't detect for you. if being strick will make them maintain their distance, what is the problem with that. I also served, and experienced similar things. know what you want, be discipline also. I don't really subscribe to that misconception of ideas. husband does not make a woman sexy. women in their very nature are sexy. their features are peculiar to them, that is why ladies who are not soft, who have coarse voice, who have flat-like chest, and their likes; are seen as not being appealing. again nothing says that all married women are happy, if she is unmarried and yet happy. are you going to take away such happinesses from her?

it pains me to read most of the comments that we are making in preceding lines, as regards the Lady taken to be addicted to sex.the guy(boyfriend) is expressing concern, and here we are telling him to go take drugs,some want the girl's number and their likes. the lady's excessive desire for sex, calls for a greater concern. over the years I have had the opportunity to counsel people like this. and I must say, it is not necessarily their fault that they have abnormal sex drive. so help should be offered to people like this, perhaps they were rapped over and over again when younger, and things like that. someone like that Lady should be referred to a therapist, lest her marriage will be in jamboree. she don't really needs party to be fine, his guy doesn't need to take medication before sleeping with the Lady, the Lady just need help. and that I can do.

In recent times, almost every marriage starts out with a huge celebration; each couple full of hopes and dreams for future life together. But the road to happy marriage is rather far and not easy. It is not easy, but it remains attainable; if married couple spend quality time together, if they forgive with ease, communicate often, and listen to each other. If these aren't happening, it's usually a sign of much deeper problem. And unless the problem is addressed, no amount of marriage books and articles read, will give you happy marriage.

STAY MARRIED: OVERLOOK SMALL ANNOYANCES
At a time in your marriage, many things will irritate you about your partner. Resist the urge to complain and over flog issues. Yes, it is irritating, but it will undoubtedly happen again. It is not the time to try changing your partner, or to force him/her to bend to your will; rather learn how to live with his or her imperfections because you too are without faults yourself.
