EDD is usually 40 completed weeks though the pregnancy can extend to 41weeks and 3days but no further.........

1. My last scan few days ago revealed dt i av cervical incompetence, my cervix is presently avin little opening so d Doc suggested dt i must b on bed rest till i put to bed. Pls has any1 experienced ds b4?

Sorry mama..... Haven't experienced such before but cervical incompetence is a term used in early second semester...... At 33wks the pregnancy has progressed really far......

I am going to permeate your busy schedules to share a discussion today.

Its about a true life event of a man who married two (2) wives the very same day, with the wives smiling being happily married to their Mr. Handsome.

In the course of this discussion arose an argument when a reference was made to the Holy Book where the first Woman was made for the First Man, meaning: One Man = One Wife.

But I also pointed out from the same Holy Book a place where it says that if a Man can Love and Provide for more than One Wife, then there is no law against it.

But the big QUESTION is: Is it possible for a man to love His Wives THE SAME WAY, and Provide for them alike without any Bias?

And if by reason of life's situations, a woman finds herself being the First Wife or Second Wife, is it possible for both these Wives to LIVE HAPPILY as True Friends without any family issues?

I find this community a Family and home, where I have learned a lot. So I brought this home as the only place to find an answer and also as it can be of help to Mamas who have had experiences or may find themselves in similar homes.

I hope we can learn a lot from this discussion.

BS , So I went for my Thursday antenatal appointment and the crowd was alarming ( thanks to the previous public holiday on Thursday in Lagos). I waited sha till my turn and doctor said since I was 39 weeks 4 days, she will schedule me for induction cos of high bp....previously, my bp has been increasing per week. I had the same issue too with my first. so I was admitted with about 17 patients for the day...9 for cs ,6 for induction, 2 for bed rest....the doctors were already tired by the end of the day and they were on call 8am to 8 am the following day with the hope that they will attend to all of us on Friday.
My catheter for induction couldn't be fixed on Thursday night and no doctor had my time till Friday night....the doctor was harsh to me at first(his nature) and I simply told him to calm down and smile if he is going to attend to me....by Saturday morning, the catheter removed and I was 4 cm....meanwhile, the doctors were not through with the scheduled cs patients (2 to go) so you can imagine the hunger on them.
my water was bursted and contractions started. at about 7cm, naso 2 young midwives entered my labour room .I had this contraction and my hand hit one of them and she hit me back strongly. when the contraction finished, I sent her out and told her I don't want to see her again in that room.
at 10 cm,baby refused to come out after several pushes for over an hour. my pelvic was swollen, the doctors couldn't read my baby's heartbeat and the doctors advised I go for a cs.I was already scared cos I thought I would loss my baby.
the contractions were so much that I couldn't hold back the pushes again. during the section a matron had to push the baby back from my vagiinall and baby came out screaming so much.
naso I suffer hunger strike from Friday afternoon still monday.

Imagine someone telling me that I am not supposed to be putting on trousers At my stage of pregnancy that it won't allow baby to come freely I said ehen is that so? The person said yes I was just looking @the person another one came again that I should buy calcium tablets and be taking 2 in the morning and 2 night that when it's time for delivery the drug will bring out baby easily . For her mind now she don advice me. Another one said as a first time mum I am not supposed to register in a private hospital that I am supposed to go to a public/govt hospital. I got swollen legs way early and up till now people still offer advice on the possible cause......
I started listening to them and started worrying even when all the tests came out fine n doctor said am fine.... I just got it early........

We are 30wks today...... and when people just offer advice I shake head and smile and tell them i have heard but forget it immediately cos peace of mind is the best medicine in pregnancy

Hello house. Please two weeks ago, my sister took her first son for his 6weeks immunization, and he was given two injections in his two thighs.

She has never done a thing like this before so she didn't know she was supposed to massage the spot thoroughly after the injection now the place is hardened under the skin as if the blood clothed there. How can she take care of the hardened spot? Do we need massage or pressing with warm water? Will the hardness go away on its own with time? Please help with answers we are very worried, thanks.

Hello able mamas in house. May we all deliver safely in Jesus name.

I was scared of the brown spotting not stopping since 6weeks gestation so last week Wednesday, I went to emergency at the general hospital I registered and got admitted immediately for threatened miscarriage. Since Wednesday, I'm just on lexotan 1.5mg and bed rest while I did blood, hvs and urinalysis. The blood test showed negative malaria parasite and other test was available this evening. No b.p., no pain, just little brown blood stain when I pee. Today I did scan and the baby is growing perfectly at 17weeks, normal heartbeat, adequate amniotic fluid and anterior placenta.
What's bothering is I'm not seeing changes. The senior doctor prescribed vasoprin and duvaston before the test was available today. I learnt the vasoprin is for blood pressure which the nurse said my bp is between 83 - 95 and it's normal.

Sorry for the long post, here are the test result and the prescription. Does it correlate to threatened miscarriage or I should wait for another doctor because different doctors are just coming with different view.

Pls help me mention those who know about medical.

U basically on bedrest.... that's the treatment for threatened miscarriage and the duvaston is a progesterone used to support the pregnancy..... bleeding should stop soon don't worry......

But u can ask the doctor why n what he thinks is causing the bleeding

I was placed on vasoprin on one of my antenatal visits. My bp has always been normal. I suspect I was given because of family history of bp but d Dr didn't tell me even when I asked.

But when I started bleeding, a nurse advised me to stock taking it because it thins d blood n I should confirm from a Dr. I asked d snr Dr that prescribed it and he said I should discontinue because of d spotting.

Vasoprin is not for hypertension or it's prevention.....
Was better you stopped it

I salute all the moms in the house. Here is me reporting myself for team October 2018. Been an active peeper for close to 6 years now. Though, just got married late last year and to the glory of God I'm 7weeks and some days gone. FTM and EDD is oct 25 according to LMP. And pls any MX mama in the house. Any good hospital suggestion in MX will be appreciated as I be JJC. Before I forget, ms has bin doing me shege and the saliva is on anoda level . Bitter cola has been my saving grace since yesterday.

No golden chair or red carpet for me. No problem, there's God!!!! Have some questions tho & I'm being bothered but dr says I shouldn't, like I stated earlier, I'm a July FTM but with fibroids , been on paracetamol for the pains however I bled at 12 weeks & was on admission for 5days & dr says all I need is bed rest, I just kukuma stop work to observe d bed rest at home jeje, I'm practically walking on eggshells with this pregnancy, hubby looked at me this morning & like your tummy is just too big for your current duration (20weeks/5months) to be candid, I look 8months gone, I felt bad. The main koko I'm having now is when I lie on my left & I'm rubbing or slightly massaging my tummy, I feel this lil hardness on my right, midwife says I shouldn't be worried that it's the fibroid, but I'm not impressed that's why I'm here asking, anyone had similar issues? NB: my scan at 15weeks showed intramural, subserous & submucosal masses (only me) but baby is doing fine, viable & active. Should I be scared?

Don't worry so much about it..... the fibroids make the tummy look bigger than usual.....
Just rest and drink plenty plenty water

inasmuch as I agree with you, these doctors make mistakes. The doctor that countered the arthemeter has his reasons. Arthemeter prescription without MP test, I carry yansh for the doctor.

If u see five doctors they will give u five different medications.........

Plus in our environment where malaria lives with us plus the fact that pregnancy lowers ur immunity and makes u more malaria prone really don't blame the doctor for giving the drug without a test.......

Depending on individual factors 1+ might make a person sick while others are fine with 3+.......

How God saved me from a doctor that would have harmed me.

I was actually down with maLaura when I tested +'ve for PT. So I couldn't take any medication cos of the foetus. Didn't want any stories. Malaria + all day pregnancy symptoms and discomfort. I was even trying to work (I'm a tailor) + DD and home front to cater for.

Last week Monday, I couldn't bear it, so off I went to the hospital ALGH IGANDO. Days where I used for my DD. Mind you any medication I'm given, I always double check to make sure that it's safe in pregnancy even before buying. Cos a doctor there once prescribed augmentin to me for cough and Catarrh. It while searching google that I read that it's not safe in pregnancy unless the good outweighs the bad.

So doctor man wrote arthemeter injections and com. Mind you I'm just 9 weeks gone oo. For some reasons, the injections were not available at d pharmacy. So I went Back to my local health centre with the prescription. They chased me away saying they can't administer it without official refferal.
So I went back home sick and downcast. Not knowing it is God at work.

My last option was the nurse that resides in my block. At night, myself and DH went to her. She just kept asking me dat was it a doctor that prescribed arthemeter at 9 weeks? So she called her consultant gynae, the man said arthemeter causes abortion and it's totally unsafe in early pregnancy except for advanced stages. That it's CQ that is safe.

My mind went to a lady that took that earthenware injections at 9 weeks during my first Peggy. I was 11 weeks then, but was taking CQ. I never saw d lady again during antenatal.

Mama's please lets take charge of our health. Seek second opinion, make google your friend.

When it comes to malaria medications the Obstetric community has seriously being changing their minds on the safest medication to use.....
CQ for example has being implicated in causing first trimester abortion but is now used as they said it's not the main cause after more research......
Some consultants prescribe Lonart even in first trimester and artemeter injection based on susceptibility in their area and has being shown to be effective......

Now it's generally accepted that it's safe and fansider can be used for prophylaxis but not earlier than 16wks and not later than 36wks......

In matters like this however better to just book for antenatal (Never too early to do that) and follow the advice of your consultant as he has greater experience in the field.......

And that lady u never saw might be due to various reasons...... not just because of the injection........
