Hi mama's in the house help, we will be 6months on the 18th our nose is plugged that can't even suck have v droped silver bird in his bathing water. Took him to the hospital they gave bells vitamin c and paracetamol still no improvement, went back they gave him antibiotics (augmentine) it stop like two weeks and came back yesterday. Plz how do I help this boy cos I can't watch him struggling to breathe

Might be hard watching your baby struggle....

Most times it's a viral infection which will go on it's own....

Pls don't do Google diagnosis.....
Most of the time might just scare u and worse might be totally wrong as there are several causes of a particular symptom........

Do steam inhalation for him and continue with it....
Continue with the vitamin C and after a while it will resolve on it's own......

If he goes to creche it's something that might always happen as once one child has it he might catch it too...
Another thing is if u are coughing or someone in your house is couging too it might come back again...

Depends on her birth weight and u and hubby size...
My baby is EBF and weighed 4.8kg at 7wks. And at that time anybody that carried us usually says we have weight....

She prefers to suck directly from the breast.

Some people start as early as 4momths but u can add little water or breast milk so the consistency will be very light to be easy for ur LO
Remember to remove all lumps to avoid choking

Hello Mamas pls shook mouth for my matter. I just started giving LO expressed milk, I discovered I don't produce as much as I did before (he is 14weeks now). It takes me an hour to get 100 to 120ml , does this not mean I have been starving this boy. Pls can reduction in eating cause this, my appetite has been really low.

I have being taking seseame seed with pap, I cooked it like egusi and ate with eba for 2days. I have started with oats/sesame too.

Might be several factors
1. the pump might not be efficient enough.....
2. Time of day u pump......
Don't worry as far as it LO has wet diapers and seems satisfied u doing well

good evening mamas...3days ago,i notice some pus-like substance in my baby's eye when he woke up,though it was hard for him to open the eye so i dropped some breastmilk in the eye.....am still putting breastmilk and it seems to have reduced but am worried....Does anyone have any idea about this....i just started giving him bonababe...he's 3months3week old.

Please, I will like to know  your sincere opinions concerning these questions:

1. Please, I went for the second dose of rota vaccine and I was given another type. Though, they were both from gsk. I questioned the immunizer and she said people were complaining about the former one that their children were still stooling  after been vaccinated with it. Etc

Please mamas, what do you think about it? 

1a.  Which of the rota vaccine did your child take (vaccine 1 or 2? Pictures are attached. 

1b.  Can I take another dose? Making 3 doses. Is there any cause for alarm? Thinking of taking another dose of the effective one.

2. Is it good to use baby wipes to wipe the nipple before breastfeeding?

3. Mamas that use puritil for sterilizing, please, how do you use it? Is it a good one? Should I change to another?

Chloroquine is better and should be supported with an anti allergy drug.

When it comes to treatment of malaria on pregnancy there is a lot of different schools of thoughts on the matter..
Depends on the Dr .....

This chloroquine people seem to swear by can actually cause abortion in some people esp in the early stages in addition to the fact that there is an increased resistance by malaria parasite in some places and the thing with allergy..... though some schools of thoughts swear by it during pregnancy....


Artemeter lumefantrine previously nor thought to be safe can now be used also......
Schools of thoughts change everyday....
When asking Google be mindful of the site u check and also check current guidelines cos even things done in the 90s are still left there...

When it comes to safety of drugs in pregnancy there are different categories category A to D n X ranging from safe to absolutely contra indicated.....
So I would give my patients....

Good evening house. Please I’m a first time dad, my wife just gave birth to our son 2months ago and my mother in law has been with us since then. The thing is she would soon be leaving and I’m quite low on cash at the moment and I know I’m supposed to get her somethings when she’s leaving. Please do you people have any idea of what to get her that she would appreciate cos she has been an amazing mother. Something I can get for her that won’t break the bank.
P.s she lives in Lagos as well and her place isn’t even that far from ours.

My mum was with me for two weeks before my MIL came ...
Same thing she's well to do and can buy for her self whatever...

What I did was to get food stuffs and fruits....
Apples and Grapes....

I know she loves them

Cos there is no wrapper or watch or perf i can give her that will make sense.....

Please I heard there is an injection they give pregnant mamas who have had series of miscarriages to seal the womb. It's not progesterone injection or cervical cerclage. It's normally given as soon as you get your bfp. I read in somewhere on nairaland and I can't remember where I read it.

I am not sure if my doctor knows of it, if not he should have given me when I was pregnant. You know how some gynaecologist get stubborn when you try to suggest things to them.

she is refusing as in rejecting (fighting and crying) infant formula, which she has been taking since a day after birth.
She started by gradually reducing her intake, and now stopped completely. And for the first time since she was born, I am exclusively breastfeeding ( the milk doesn't even flow like plenty).

I have tried multivitamin, starving her for a period before giving the formula (SMA GOLD), and she still does not even try to suck the feeder.

Problem is I resume work in a week, I will be at least 9 hours away.
Nothing has worried us (me and hubby) this much since we had her (Not even when she didn't poop for 8 days, or when she was given pentavalent vaccine).

Now my mum is suggesting dawa or pap, hubby no want even hear am.

Plz help a new and first time mum out.

No pap oh..... she's too young for that.
You could try by mixing breast milk with formula n see if she takes it....

Start with 3parts breast milk to one part formulae n see if she will take it then gradually increase....

And she still does the excessive scrubbing as if baby is dirty I now bathe mY baby though but she is always on standby whenever I'm bathing the baby she won't just let me be she will still be using one hand to pour water or rubbing baby that makes two people bathing baby. I'm just been patient cos she has few days left. I actually don't know when the hot water massage stops but I don't see myself doing it when she goes. She still rob mentholatum on a navel that is healed too... lol

I hope you have started learning how to bathe baby? Tell her to allow you do it once in a while else, it won't be easy for you to do when she goes.

Please I need someone who have had the experience to advice me on this. How did you overcome it.

My baby is 11 weeks old, and eats about 2 Oz/ 60 ml per feed (which is quite small). Any attempt for her to consume more, she coughs and throws up heavily.

When she was below 5 weeks old, she consumed 4 Oz/ 120 ml per feed without issues of vomiting.

I have given her multivitamin (abidec), yet no improved feeding.
She is agile, happy and big for her age. No fever

I'm really worried about the vomiting.

It's her way of giving up the excess esp when there is no fever or she's not easily irritable or excessively crying....

She's big for her age that means she's adding weight....

Weight gain and wet diapers are the surest way of knowing if babies are getting enough.....

Just give her what she can consume n watch her weight gain... And the vomiting...
It should go with time
