Ubiero:
Dear Sabi Mamas,

Please help me take a look at my son''s left leg. When we went for his 6 weeks vaccines. The left leg got really swollen though I didn't realise this till I got home. I gave him pcm and did a little ice compress.
I noticed that he doesn't like to put the leg down at all neither does he stretch it out the way he does the right leg.

One day, dh even asked me if his coveralls had the same length. I've been really bothered but I felt it would get better.

We went for his 10 weeks vaccination and that same leg got swollen, however the swelling is yet to fully come down.

Should I be worried or start massaging it and stretching the leg. Not to compare or anything, but I saw a baby who was born on the same day as he was and the baby could stand on the mother''s leg with support while my son can only stand firmly with his right leg. Once you place his left leg, he won't stand.
No stretching and messaging abeg

You should take him to go see a paediatrician.....

Thanks for the response sis. We were not given antibiotics. But can i get one to start using for him?
I think u should go back to the hospital just to be safe...

Though I use lots of vitamin c either the syrup and plenty fruits... it will help....

This is the season of catarrh

Plus does anyone have in your house or his playmates??
That might also make it recur.....

Antibiotics should not be given likely to children. So pls avoid that....

Part 5.
I will advise preggies to discus what to do with placenta b4 baby is born. It nearly caused issue for me. Hubby asked for placenta, I asked him what he is doing with placenta in this age and time, that he should allow hospital dispose it. I asked him if he intends to travel to villa with the placenta, or where will he bury it since we are tenants in ph, he grudgingly agreed to let hospital dispose it. Do you know that ppl keep asking him what he did with the placenta. His elder bros first asked and when he told them he left in the hospital, they bashed him. One other neighbour was also angry with him.

It was the neighbour that explained that some nurses sell placenta to ritualists and they will use it to collect the destiny of the baby. That we shouldnt make that mistake again. That the father should collect baby's ppacenta, navel and circumsision things and be the one to dispose himself where nobody can see it, to be sure

Bs submitted. Copy Karyss, talltosyn
Congrats Mama... God bless ur LO

People and their unsolicited advice...
The world is using placenta for stem cell research and lots more....
Nigeria , it is wa....
Almost caused an issue for me too

But we need to change

Please dear mothers I need advice. I just had my baby 3 weeks ago via cs. It is my 2nd pregnancy. When I had my first (also CS) some years back, my mother in law came for Omugwo. It was the worst two months of my life. She didn’t help with anything having to do with the baby except bathing. Once she bathe the baby that’s the end. No help with cooking, na me go dey ask her what she wants to eat and she will be selecting food. I had to start going to market at two weeks and cooking.

When I took in this time I made up my mind that she won’t come for Omugwo at least until I am strong enough to entertain her. Fortunately my family members are available and I arranged for my sister and aunty to come.

Without informing us she was coming my MIL left Lagos and came to the village. Our village is 1 hr away. I know that the next thing is to land in our house. The honest truth is that with my sister and aunty around there is no space. But I cannot tell her not to come to her son’s house. Do I send my family away? They also live in Lagos and once they go they can’t come back. And they are really helpful to me at least until I am stronger. What do I do?
I can feel your pains mama....
Was in your shoes sometime back and it wasn't funny even though MIL came when my baby was 2wks old and it wasn't CS....

Pls don't send ur relatives away....
It was and still is what helps me....

You need help and rest . Like someone said let ur sister stay....
Advice given to me here helped a lot....
May God give u strength to cope and bless your LO

Good afternoon sabi mama's in the house.
We have been doing exclusive since and i tried introducing water and formular for him today, the guy man refused to take it oo.

My question now is how can I make him take it and how many ml should i start with?
I want him to get use to it before I resume work.

NAN is saying from 3 - 4months is 180ml, how will I achieve that when he can't even take 1ml bikonu.

Thanks.
Your little one doesn't need water till he starts taking solids.... as the water fills up the space that should contain good and slows down weight gain

As for letting him take NAN you could start by expressing the breastmill and mixing it with formulae...
You could start at 3parts breast milk with one part formulae then u gradually increase the formulae part when he's used to it....

Hopefully he will take it...

Good day Mamas, I am a GTC mama. My friend just told me she tested positive to typhoid and she is pregnant. The doctor gave her augmentin. So I told her not to take it yet, I need to ask my experienced mama's here, if anyone has treated typhoid in early pregnancy.
Let me shake this boat a little...

In the first place Augmentin is safe in pregnancy whatever the trimester....
Second of all I really don't think she has typhoid fever cos the only test to confirm diagnosis is a bone marrow aspiration wc is not routinely done....
Widal test that is done everywhere is not a good test as other things can also make it positive including malaria....

I can get she didn't see a specialist....

That said she can take the drug cos it's safe but pls let her see a specialist cos she might just have malaria and needs to be treated properly as it is not good for baby...

Happy Sunday to us, please experience mothers I need your experience advice on this. Am 31 weeks and I just treated fever, but I noticed that the drugs given to me in the hospital are affecting me negatively . I took them this morning in less than 20 minutes I started loosing my strength rapidly . Hubby already told me to stop taking drugs I ignored him because I thinking it is not ideal . Please what should I do now b4 my next antenatal? I am a first time mum.

The drugs are folic acid and another redround one.
.
You really don't have to wait for the next antenatal before U go and complain

I'm also in same condition with you I'm resuming work soon and also doing exclusive. My plan is to be going to work with my baby o. The only option I'm thinking of is to probably get someone to resume work and close with me to hold my baby. I'm not doing the creche option cos I feel my baby is too young for that. embarassed Besides you said you are doing exclusive for baby how often do you intend going to creche to breastfeed when baby is in need? Won't it be stressful?
Even now he feeds from the bottle sometimes....
I express and store so to make sure he's used to taking from the bottle....

My plan is to look for a creche with a fridge..... we have a creche where I work .....
My baby feeds every two hours and expressed breast milk lasts 6hrs on room temp so I can feed and expressly milk at work so there will always be a bottle on standby.....

Won't be easy but we are three months now with three months to go....

I pray God gives me the strength to do it....

If my plan doesn't work them last option. I will go to plan C formular

How old is your baby?

I personally prefer creche to baby being home alone with a nanny
However for nights and weekends you still need someone to live with you. My suggestion is, do creche, then nights and weekends send your help and the baby to the Sister's place, that way you have someone you trust supervising your nanny/help at least till you're more comfortable with her and your child is older
Thanks mama....
My LO is 3momths old

Good morning mamas
Am here for advice as a fun

Just to sample opinions......

Am resuming work soon and am torn btw the kind of nanny to chose from...
A little background.... my husband lives out of town and comes once in every two weeks even when he's around the only domestic work he does is serve his own food...
I have no family in the town I live in so really can drop D'S anywhere....

I also work nights and sometimes weekends....
Now most of my colleagues have Nannys that live with them and was planning to get that....

But thing is my Mother especially is very against that..
I have no relative who can help with this atm... though DH has a niece he's very reluctant to ask cos he doesn't want her father to say he's using her as a househelp....

Now my other options are for DS to go to Creche in the mornings and I discussed with a close sister in the Lord that has agreed to help when I need to work night and weekends.....
Now problem is I really don't know if that is sufficient help cos my job can be really exhausting as sometimes I i get home so exhausted I just sleep straight till the next day.....
Plus am a student also so I need to have time to read my books.....

For mothers that have used nannies pls which did you prefer??

Which option would u chose if u were in my shoes??

Chickenpox has a drug, please visit another hospital,
It doesn't actually....

It's a viral infection which clears on its own.....

The antibiotics and vitamins are just to help the immune system right it....

You can ask Google to clear your doubts

Yes you can if your supply is adequate. You need to have at least 4 bottles of whatever quantity your baby takes available in storage as back up per time to achieve it, you also have to be very careful with storage

1. A good electric pump, manual won't cut it - mid range brand I can vouch for is lansinoh, if you can afford high end medela is the best.
2. Storage bags/bottles
3. A cooler bag with an ice pack if you intend to pump at work, expressed milk needs to be kept cool
4. Steady power supply, expressed milk can stay 6 days in a good fridge, 6 months if frozen solid (It must not be defrosted and refrozen, once you defrost you either use or discard)
5. A sharpie to write the date you express and best before date..this will help you maintain FIFO (first in, first out)
6. If your baby is going to creche the creche must have a fridge

Hope this helps. All the best
Thanks a lot mama
It helps a lot

2. Has anyone fone it successfully especially if baby will be going to crechehuh
3. I get at most 9hrs of light where I reside... can that do to store breast milk??

My opening statement wasn't meant to be an affront but an assurance! Didn't realise that asking you to calm down and not assume the worst was offensive.

My doctor didn't tell me the name of what my son had he just said viral infection and gave medication.

Now if I had told you with certainty that your baby is having the same ish my son had and your doctor says otherwise how will that make me look? Even if it's the same what harm would there be to still see your doctor and get proper medication?

I'll assume you are stressed and won't take offence at your misinterpretation of my comment.

I pray good health and healing upon your baby, feel free to share his diagnosis cos I'd like to know what it's called.
Shalom.
Am sorry...
Maybe am stressed....
DS has a fat neck so he says it's probably fungal due to the lack of air that gets to that area....

Calm down abeg why getting scared have I said it's something terrible?

Babies get lots of skin issues that look alike, seeing your doctor who will check him and probably run tests is your best bet in getting an accurate diagnosis .

Whatever it may be it definitely has a remedy! Let your doctor be the one to tell you, I can only speculate cos it looked like what my son had and doctor said it's a viral skin infection which antibiotics and topical ointment took care of.
Geez calm down mama.....
All you had to say was this since oh.....

It looks like but make sure u see your doctor.....

Pls don't be angry....
Have a lot of over sabi well meaning mothers who are always offering this or that and a MIL who is always fighting me at every turn wanting to give my baby this or that n making me feel like it's my fault stuff happens cos I refuse to listen.....

This stuff has been called different names n different pics painted....

No you didn't say anything bad

Sorry just wanted to calm down before the long wait to see the doctor....

Oh and I don't know if babies get a lot of skin issues am a FTM
Thanks anyway

Birth story

I thank God for his mercies, this pregnancy has being filled with drama.
My edd was 5 and 7 july according to scan n lmp.
Spent 2/3 of my first trimester hospitalized due to severe ms.
Half of my 2nd trimester on intermittent bed rest due to cramps
My 3rd I was already waddling by 7months.baby's head dropped early.i couldnt bend and I was as lazy as slob eh.
I was having frequent BH contractions. It became normal sef to me.
I stopped driving.uber and taxify finish my money eh!. chai!.

Fast forward to 20 june.after my ANC. I decided to finally shop and pack hospital bag incase of emergency as if I knew.
On sunday 24th june.i was on call..so I prepared went to work by 8am, while at work I was having my usual false contractions or so I thought.
So inbetween attending to my patients I will jus lie down when I could to get a little relief. I was jokingly telling my colleague 'this kain busy duty I go soon born for una for hia'. We all laughed about it.i now said I was going to ask my ogas for the day off on monday cos that sunday had being stressful so I dont deliver before my time.

I closed by 830pm.hubby came to pick me.when we got home.i prepared dinner, we ate, the contractions came back.i just took a bath and told oga am going to bed early, that probably due to the stress, the BH contraction is back.

Went to bed by 10pm couldn't sleep, every 45mins this contractions will come. Ahhah! Which kain false contractions get time like this, went to the bathroom checked. No show, no mucus plug, no water.God help me oo. Went back to bed. 12am contractions every 20mins.chineke! This can't be false again na, went to the bathroom, still no show, no mucus plug, no water. I started praying 'God please I don't understand anymore, am sorry i wanted to skip work ooo, pls just let this contractions stop oo, I will go to work tomorrow' for where.i woke hubby please gimme paracetamol. He asked are u in labor I said I dont know ooooo, should we go to the hospital? I said I no.
1245am contraction becaming longer and every 5mins. I told hubby hospital ooooooo.i had pulled my pyjamas n thrown oneside I was walking to n fro the parlor praying. Oga jus grabbed one free gown threw over my head I just put one hand in , open the door started walking down stairs barefoot.Dh was lke wait ur slippers.i didnt even ans.when the contractions come.i jus pause n grab the railings.my sister carried my box.thank God I packed.

Got downstairs opened the door I climbed in, dh realise I forgot my hospital card, he asked my sister to close the car door wen I go in since i was now moving in slow motion, the contraction was every 1min n lasted 10secs longer.and den ran in to get my handbag

As I jus put one leg in, another contraction came with the urge to poo.as I pushed,my water broke n baby head came out.i just shouted my baby is coming oooo, next 30secs senod contraction baby body slipped out.i jus held my baby crying my baby is here ooo.my sister almosted fainted cheesy grin.she screamed out my whole neighbourhood out from their sleep.hubby ran down stairs carefully moved the other leg in the car closed the door and drove james bond to the hospital.
As God will have it all the estate security was still at their duty post by 1am.the opened the gate fast.we went to the nearest hospital.wen the gate man saw how hubby dove he ran away from the gate probably tinking it was robbers. I just told hubby lets go to my hospital pls.we raced down there.got the nurses.they came to the car cut the cord.took baby for suctioning n cleaning.
Then helped me to the labour room where I delivered the placenta and was stitched.

Tank God for his mercies.he is really a faithful God.

Team july thats how june snatched me ooooooo.

Congrats to all team july that haf delivered, those still waddling more grace. May God make it easy for all of us oooo.

Meet my second princess.olivia. she weighed 3.5kg at birth.
OMG.....

Congrats Mama...
