Politics › Tinubu Sees Presidency As Retirement Benefits – Dino Melaye by Lessonteacher(op): 9:42am On Aug 07, 2022 |
Former lawmaker, Dino Melaye, on Saturday, alleged that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, sees the presidency as his “entitlement and retirement benefits”.
The PUNCH reported on August 4 2022 that the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, designated Melaye, and Dr. Daniel Bwala to serve as his spokespersons for the 2023 presidential campaign.
Malaye, who represented Kogi West at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly during the 8th Senate, alleged that Tinubu was contesting for the presidency not on basis of the greater good but to fulfill his “lifetime ambition”.
In a video shared on his Facebook page, the former lawmaker who was responding to the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, over his comment on Atiku in a TV interview recently, said, unlike Tinubu, the PDP’s candidate is contesting with rich credentials.
According to him, Atiku has the rudiments of civil administration and of politics.
“Atiku Abubakar is running for the presidency for the second or third time and he understands this route better than the political virgin, Tinubu, that you (Keyamo) are supporting who is running for the presidency for the first time and sees it as his life entitlement and retirement benefits for supporting Buhari.
“Atiku has rich credentials and he is not running because of entitlements. He is not running because of his support for any party. He is running because he’s got the credentials and he is a team player. He is a talent hunter and leader per excellence. " Oyo - Kekemeke Furthermore, Melaye describes Keyamo’s comment on Atiku during the interview as “shameful, very embarrassing and a disgrace”.
“Keyamo’s inactive ministerial sojourn is affecting him. Because if he has succeeded as a minister he won’t be talking the way he is talking. Many Nigerians will tell you today they don’t know the ministry where Keyamo is working because he is redundant, inactive and invisible and he has been completely consumed by the aura of Ngige, the superior minister.
“Because Keyamo is a commercialised conscience and he has monetised his life that is why he will not understand that the vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has some ministries, agencies and government parastatals under his direct supervision.
“What he has done is that he has disrespected the office of the vice president of Nigeria as a lawyer who understands the constitutionality, enormous responsibilities of that office.” https://punchng.com/tinubu-sees-presidency-as-retirement-benefits-dino-melaye/

Politics › Abaribe: Describing Obi’s Ambition As ‘Igbo Presidency’ Is Mischievous by Lessonteacher(op): 10:03pm On Aug 03, 2022 |
Immediate-past Senate Minority Leader, and Senator representing Abia South district, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, has said that those referring to the candidature of the presidential flag bearer of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi as ‘Igbo presidency’, are mischievous and on a smear campaign to de-market him.
Senator Abaribe who is seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, argued that it is unfair to single out Obi and link his ambition with his tribe while leaving out other presidential candidates.
Abaribe who spoke during a virtual town hall meeting by Ikengaonline, wondered why Obi’s traducers are not also referring to Atiku Abubarkar of the Proples Democratic Party, PDP as ‘Fulani presidency’; and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress, APC, as ‘Yoruba presidency’.
He said that those trying to link Obi’s ambition with the agitation in the South East were part of those behind the political exclusion of the race from Nigeria’s political equilibrum.
The former Abia Deputy Governor, insisted that Obi should be seen as an individual pursuing his constitutionally-guaranteed rights without any links to his tribe and religion.
” It’s unfortunate that Peter Obi’s emergence which is now a silver lining has come with complications. Tinubu has a presidential ticket, nobody is saying it’s a Yoruba ticket.
” Atiku has a ticket, nobody is saying it’s a Fulani ticket. But Peter Obi got a ticket and everybody is shouting:’It’s Igbo presidency. Some even try to link him with the Biafra agitation.
” Have they tried to associate Tinubu with the Oduduwa self determination agitation? Or Atiku within the Fulani herdsmen menace or the banditary in the North”
Senator Abaribe wondered why some people have continued to live in fear and suspicion of the Igbo or impute unnecessary motives to genuine moves by Igbo sons and daughters. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/08/referring-obis-ambition-as-igbo-presidency-tinubu-atikus-normal-mischievous-abaribe/

Politics › Likes Of Kwankwaso Reason Nigeria’s Still World’s Poverty Capital — Peter Obi by Lessonteacher(op): 8:08am On Jul 08, 2022 |
By Miftaudeen Raji Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has said tribalism and religion are some of the reasons Nigeria has remained as the world’s capital of poverty. Obi lambasted former Kano State Governor and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP Rabiu Kwankwaso, saying the NNPP candidate has been playing on ethnicity and religion at the expense of competence and focus on rescuing the country’s economy. The Labour Party candidate made the assertion in an interview with Arise Television Morning Show. Obi described the comments by Kwankwaso that Northerners will not vote for him (Obi) because he is from the South East as tribalistic. Kwankwaso had said, “What I’m telling you is that if anybody from the South-East now, under this circumstance, becomes the presidential candidate of our party or any other party, the implications is that because of the activities and other issues that are really on the ground, northern voters will certainly go for their northern candidate and another party. “So, the thinking is not whether I like it or I don’t, the fact remains that everybody will lose. He will lose and I will lose.” In his reply to Kwankwaso, Obi said, “The comments from Kwankwaso is why we are where we are today, we vote for Incompetence based on the primitive ponsideration of tribe & religion.” Obi noted that Nigeria is in a critical situation, and needs an economically-savvy leader to salvage the country. He said Nigeria and its economy are in a coma and only barely survive. According to him, the country will soon default on its debt servicing due to myriads of economic woes in the country. He said, “We choose to vote for incompetence based on a primitive consideration of ethnicity and religion. “Tell me, today, you can’t travel from Abuja to Kaduna by air, by road, or by train. Is it because somebody from the South-East is in charge? “You can’t travel from Abuja to Minna by road, is it because somebody from the South-East is in charge? “Yesterday, we had an attack on the presidential convoy in Katsina, is it because a person from the South-East is in charge? “Show me where you can buy food cheaper. “You have not talked about electricity, or that people are prospering in the North because northerners are in power? In the South-West, because they are in power or in the South-East. “We have a huge problem and if you don’t know, this country will soon default on their debt servicing.” Obi referenced reports by the Debt Management Office that Nigeria’s debt profile has hit N41.6 trillion, having risen by N2.04 trillion in the first quarter of 2022. The DMO had said, with the increase in the country’s debt profile, its total public debt-to-gross domestic product (GDP) now stands at 23.27 per cent, as against 22.43 per cent on December 31, 2021. The Office, in a statement, had said that the amount represented the domestic and external debt stocks of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the 36 state governments and the Federal Capital Territory, adding that the comparative figures for December 31, 2021, were N39.56 trillion or $95.78 billion. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/07/likes-of-kwankwaso-reason-nigeria-still-worlds-poverty-capital-peter-obi/

phemmyjohnson: That’s the difference.. State politics do not need help or votes from other states ..national politics have to take into consideration the votes it will need from all states . At this point I feel it's kind of hard to understand how you reason. Reread what you wrote and see how relateable both situations are. If states votes have to be taken into consideration, why can't state take into consideration votes from other local government and quarters? Tinubu has been using that technique and it has been working for him in Lagos state, let's use Lagos as our model this time. |
