Why does God answer ‘yes’ to some prayers and ‘no’ to others? Why does God miraculously heal some people and not others? Why does disaster strike one city and not another? Bad theology surrounding these questions can be very detrimental. Bad Theology Hurts the Suffering I know that God answers prayer. And we need to pray. God tells us to ask, and it will be given to us (Matthew 7:7). But what are we as believers to infer from natural disasters or epidemics where people’s prayers seemingly go unanswered? Can we simply draw straight lines between our requests and God’s answers? Years ago, I heard a pastor tell of his cancer that went into remission. When he told his congregation the good news, several commented, “We knew God would heal you. He had to. So many people were praying for you.” While the pastor was thankful for others’ prayers, he also knew God did not owe him healing. Faithful believers throughout the ages have earnestly prayed and yet not been healed. The apostle Paul was not healed in order that God might show that his power could be made perfect in Paul’s weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). And then there was my own son, Paul, who died as an infant. We had prayed, fasted, and asked friends to pray for his healing. Several years after his death, we met a man who said when he learned of our loss, “Don’t take this wrong, but we prayed for all of our children before they were born. And they were all born healthy.” We had no words. I have often been discouraged that others have been rescued while I was still suffering, because of the bad theology I had experienced. Prosperity gospel proponents have told me that if I had prayed in faith, my body would have been healed, my son would have been spared, and my marriage would have been restored. It was all up to me. If I just had the faith, I would have had a better outcome. Their words have left me bruised and disillusioned, wondering what I was doing wrong. But that bad theology is not the gospel. God’s response to our prayers is not dependent upon our worthiness but rather rests upon on his great mercy (Daniel 9:18). Because of Christ, who took our punishment, God is always for us (Romans 8:31). He wants to give us all things. Christ himself is ever interceding for us (Romans 8:31–34). If you are in Christ, God is completely for you. Your suffering is not a punishment. Your struggles are not because you didn’t pray the right way, or because you didn’t pray enough, or because you have weak faith or insufficient intercessors. It is because God is using your suffering in ways that you may not understand now, but one day you will. One day you will see how God used your affliction to prepare you for an incomparable weight of glory (2 Corinthians 4:17). This is the gospel, not that bad theology. And it holds for all who love Christ. Dear God, thank you that my suffering is light in comparison to the eternal weight of glory it will achieve for your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, amen. |
Have you heard of the law of attraction? The law of attraction suggests that everything that happens in your life, good or bad, are attracted to you. We all have some experience in the law of attraction. For example, you may want to buy a car of certain model, suddenly you see a lot of such cars on the road. You may have question about something, suddenly you come across a book that has the answer to your question. (To earn 40k monthly into your account, check my signature, please). That's the law of attraction in action. Everything we need to achieve what we desire is already around us. The problem is we can't see it. It's like the car model that is always zooming pass us but we never notice it until we have the intention to buy one. Or the book that is already in the market yet it doesn't arouse your interest until you have a question in need of an answer. The law of attraction goes hand in hand with my understanding of the subconscious mind. Our reality is basically a delayed reflection of our subconscious mind. Whatever that we impress upon our subconscious mind will eventually be revealed to us through the law of attraction. If so, how do you use the law of attraction to your advantage? Well, the first thing you need to do is don't sabotage yourself, i.e. stop having negative emotion such as doubt and fear, and don't talk negatively. If you can simply do that, half the battle is won. The next thing to do is to keep a clear goal of what you want to achieve. In success, I realize that the hardest thing to do is to formulate a clear goal. Once the goal is clear, the law of attraction will start to work. You will start to read what you need to read, meet the people you need to know and experience a series of events that will eventually lead you to your goal. The last thing to do is to take action. The law of attraction can only attract the resources you need to you. Ultimately you have to use that resource to produce result.

Good morning Mr. Peter had a job interview to attend at 10am but his wife developed complications at 9am. He decided to take the wife to the hospital and leave for the interview thereafter but on their way to the hospital, the taxi broke down. It was already 10:30am before he could get another taxi. He arrived the hospital at 11am, dropped the wife and used the same taxi to go for the interview. He arrived the interview venue at 12noon(2hours late). He rang the bell but no one opened the door. Meanwhile, earlier at 10am, the company mail delivery had rang the bell but no one opened the door too. When the door was finally opened, Mr. Peter said "I'm sorry, I came... " he wanted to apologise for coming late, but the Secretary interrupted before he could finish his statement and ushered him to the Board Room. The Secretary said, "I apologise, Mr. Peter, for keeping you waiting since 10am. We actually heard when the bell rang at 10am but we were held up in a meeting with our company suppliers. However, we have sat since 8am to deliberate on your job specification, your office and the salary." Mr. Peter was baffled and said, "Ma'am, I haven't been interviewed yet’’. The MD answered him and said, "We decided not to conduct the interview at least to save time and also save the interviewees money on transport. So we looked at the papers for the most appropriate person we wanted and we opted for you. Also, we had tested your patience this morning by keeping you waiting intentionally for 2hrs. That's part of your interview. You won't be disappointed. You’ll be shown your office, your secretary and the driver assigned to drive your company's allotted vehicle. You’ll be on probation for 2yrs." He got the job!!! On his way out, his phone rang and it was the wife. She said, "honey, I was delivered of a bouncing baby boy." It was their fifth child and the only male child. He immediately named the child 'Miracle'. He got a double miracle same day. All the disappointments turned out to favour him. God positioned the mail delivery man to ring the bell at 10am. God also held them up in the meeting until Mr. Peter arrived. _Note:_ You might be held up by issues in your life and hope might be diminishing and you think the chance is gone. But you know what? God's waiting for you to release His favour. So don't go back along the way. Don't quit. Don't be upset by what you face along the way. In fact, God has already deliberated on your specifications. One more thing: You don't have to go through any interview, since you have all the qualifications God wants. ![]() |

The NIMC has said the agency has licensed telecommunications companies to register applicants who do not have NIN. The Nigerian Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said the agency has licensed telecommunications companies to register applicants who do not have National Identity Numbers (NIN). This measure is to help reduce the large crowd that besieges NIMC offices across the country for registration with the risk of contracting the Covid-19 disease. According to a report from Punch, this disclosure was made by the Director-General, NIMC, Aliyu Aziz, while responding to an inquiry with respect to measures taken by NIMC to address the complaints made by citizens and the crowds at the commission’s offices. Aziz pointed out that mobile network operators had been empowered to also give identity numbers. This is in addition to the licensing of the private and public organization by the commission to provide NIN. The NIMC boss said, “We have licensed private and public sector organisations including telcos (telecommunications companies) so as to create more centres.’’ What you should know It can be recalled that the Federal Government had directed that telecommunication companies should block from their network, any SIM that is not registered with valid NINs with effect from However, following public outcry, the government gave 6 weeks extension to subscribers without NIN from December 30, 2020, to February 9, 2021, and 3 weeks extension for subscribers with NIN from December 30, 2020, to January 19, 2020. However, many Nigerians and organisations had called for a further deadline extension or outright suspension of the NIN registration process due to the large crowds who had yet to have their NINs.

Quick answers to Bible Questions Q. Who are the Four Naked Prophets? A. The four naked prophets are Isaiah, Micah, King Saul and King David. Interestingly, each man was nude for different reasons! God commanded Isaiah to walk around naked for three years to symbolize Assyria's prophesied domination of Egypt and Ethiopia. "Go and take the sackcloth off your loins, and take your shoe off your foot . . . Just as My servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot three years . . . So shall the king of Assyria lead away Egypt's prisoners, and the Ethiopian exiles . . . naked and barefoot, even with uncovered buttocks . . ." (Isaiah 20:2 - 4). Micah was so grieved and devastated by the prophecies he gave against Israel and Judah that he stripped off his clothes and openly bemoaned their punishment. "Therefore I will wail and howl; I will go stripped and naked; I will make a wailing like jackals . . . for her wounds are not curable" (Micah 1:8 - 9). King Saul had grown to hate David and wanted him murdered. After his three sets of assassins failed to kill the future king (1Samuel 19:20 - 21) he decided to pursue the bloody task himself. As he approached and entered Ramah, where David and Samuel were, God diverted his attention in a unique way! "And the Spirit of God was upon him (Saul) also, and going on he went and prophesied . . . And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel, even he. And he lay down disrobed all that day and all that night . . ." (1Samuel 19:23 - 24). God's diversion of Saul allowed David to escape the city (1Samuel 20:1). King David was a prophet as well as a king (see Psalm 2, 22, 27, 31, etc.). Wearing only a short linen garment, he joyfully danced as the Ark of the Covenant was transported into Jerusalem. His wife Michal, however, sarcastically chastised him for exposing his private parts for all to see. "How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants . . ." (2Samuel 6:20). David rightfully rebuked Michal for criticizing the innocent exposure of his body while worshipping God. Her punishment was to remain childless her entire life (2Samuel 6:21 - 23). |
This is worth meditating on; “There is no rival for your place in God’s heart. There is no rival for your place in this world.” |
Lisa Bevere poses a question in the following video that has doubtless been on the minds of many believers. What if God doesn’t love us all the same? Bevere recalls how she was battling jetlag and lying down to take a nap one day when the thought came to her: The Holy Spirit said, “I do not love my children equally.” Bevere explains she was dumbfounded by the statement. Surely God loves us all the same. Surely he couldn’t do something like play favorites. But the Holy Spirit went on to explain, “Same would mean one of you are replaceable…I don’t love my children equally. I love them uniquely.” The word “unique” caught Bevere’s attention, so she looked up the definition: “Sole representative of.” Meaning, you are the only one who represents God the way you represent God. However, the third tier of the definition was her favorite: Without rival. “There is no rival for your place in God’s heart. There is no rival for your place in this world.” Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Dear God, help me to see how beautifully uniquely you made me when you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I pray you open my eyes to the special qualities you gave me that set me apart from the rest of your creation. In Jesus’ name, amen. culled from: faith it
