EducationMeet Jake, The Boy Behind The Class Captain Meme That Went Viral by lewispius(op): 12:39pm On Oct 27, 2016
The pensive looking boy’s whose picture became a hit meme all across Africa has been located and it turns out he is Ghanaian.

According to an article written by one Arthur Chatora for This Is Africa website, the boy, said to be called Jake, was shot by a Ghanaian artiste by name Solomon Adufah who was at the time having an arts workshop with a group of children in Ghana.

If you had ever wondered about the origin of the famous meme of a young African boy seated at a desk, with a pensive look on his face, frantically writing on a piece of paper, your search is finally over.

Jake’s photo is currently amongst one of the continent’s most famous and widely shared memes due to its nature.

The most popular meme from this picture is the one where they portray Jake as one who reminds many of a mean class captain who was always ready to issue out names of his colleagues to be punished.

The Ghanaian artist behind the photo, Solomon Adufah shared the picture on Instagram in January as part of the artist’s ‘homeland series’ where he travels to various African countries to help underprivileged children in local communities, providing them with resources and teaching creative studies workshops.

“Jake was one of the children I taught in Ghana. He was always gentle and quiet.. Ever present in class and was eager to learn everyday. That’s what I loved about all the children. Their enthusiasm and high spirit was refreshing and encouraged me to continue helping them,” Adufar noted.

CelebritiesMajid Michel Revealed Shocking Revelations About Some Ministers Of God by lewispius(op): 4:21pm On Oct 26, 2016
Majid Michel who has turned into a pastor, penned down what he found out about pastors.

“The only reason i went to church when i was growing up,… i did so only because it was the respectable thing to do. My motivation for attending was for the sake of my family’s reputation. Actually, i visited many churches around and met many ministers. Among the ministers, i don’t remember ever meeting one that i felt was in his position because God had chosen him to minister to the people. i recall a conversation that i heard one Monday. A pastor was visiting my father and he said, “Boy, i really preached yesterday morning. i had them jumpin’ benches and screaming at every word i said. And you know, i must have really been preaching, because they raised an unusual amount of money for me.” And it wasn’t my first time hearing that. i soon became aware that success in the ministry was measured only in terms of money. The success of a pastor was measured in how big a car he drove and the quality of the clothes he wore. Most pastors competed against one another to build the biggest and the most prestigious or famous church. i also learned that a tremendous number of preachers were involved in improper sexual relationships. They had extra- marital affairs, committed adultery with members of their congregations, and had plenty of “girl friends” when they traveled to church conventions. Many of them exploited their people.

he word among preachers was, “Make them give, make them honor you.” There was no mention of Jesus Christ, no mention of the need to reach and help the drug addicts, the alcoholic, no mention of mothers living in a two-by-four flat with five, six, or seven children in a one or two bedroom without a husband. No mention of how the church can become relevant to this situation. Even taking in new members was another money game. Most pastors, when they saw a new person coming to join their church, saw nothing but money signs. They did not see a soul that was thirsting to know God. All i saw in the ministry was phonies, hypocrites, actors, and money-grabbers who were in the business solely for what they could get out of it and who were not the least bit interested in the souls of men! #LEADERSHiP’

FamilyRe: Major Issues Facing Teenagers Of Today by lewispius(op): 7:38pm On Oct 24, 2016
What do you feel is the worst problem teens face today?
FamilyRe: Major Issues Facing Teenagers Of Today by lewispius(op): 7:35pm On Oct 24, 2016
* Violence at home

One of the main reasons that children and teens become violent is because they are exposed to violence in their own homes, whether it is directed towards them or towards others.
Violence at home can be of a physical nature, or it can be expressed verbally or through emotional neglect and abandonment.
Abusive homes and violent neighborhoods are stronger predictors of adult violent behavior
Most abusive parents were physically or sexually abused as children. Also, Passivity perpetuates abuse.

FamilyRe: Major Issues Facing Teenagers Of Today by lewispius(op): 7:29pm On Oct 24, 2016
* Grades

It is almost a necessity to have a degree now to land a desirable career.

There are, of course, exceptions to this, but the pressure from teachers, parents and peers to be accepted into a high ranked university and the constant barrage of standardized testing keeps teenagers in a seemingly never-ending anxious state.

Grades have always been an important factor, but they have turned into what seems like a life or death situation to some students who know their only chance of getting into the university is to get the best grades and be awarded a scholarship.
FamilyRe: Major Issues Facing Teenagers Of Today by lewispius(op): 7:22pm On Oct 24, 2016
* Drugs and alcohol

As I said above, with both parents working, teens are often left alone for hours at a time, providing a sizable opportunity for drinking or doing drugs with friends right in their own home.

They may try a number of substances including cigarettes, alcohol, household chemicals(Inhalants), prescription and over-the-counter medicines and illegal drugs.
They mostly use alcohol more than any other substance.

Also, Teens are hanging out with older friends who willingly buy them alcohol.
Anything they want is fairly easily attainable.

FamilyRe: Major Issues Facing Teenagers Of Today by lewispius(op): 7:14pm On Oct 24, 2016
* Sex

Kids (and I mean literally kids) are having sex younger and younger every year.

The prevalence of sex in movies, TV shows and magazines as well as on the Internet has made blatant sexuality more commonplace than it used to be.

Parents can try to keep their kids away from risqué material, but most homes now have two working parents who cannot possibly monitor every show/films their kids watch day in and day out.

There are programs you can use on the computer to block certain websites, but a great number of kids and teens are far more computer savvy than their parents and can surely find their ways.

FamilyMajor Issues Facing Teenagers Of Today by lewispius(op):
The issues teens face now are incredibly different from those that I had to worry about.

Bullying is now a 24/7 occurrence, sex is taking place earlier and earlier and the likelihood of coming from a broken home is very high.

There are many issues teens face today that adults aren’t even fully aware of.

* Cyber Bullying

While bullying has been around for ages, the Internet has made bullying easier and more widespread than ever, making it one of the major issues teens face today.

It gives people who are normally afraid of confrontation the ability to bully others anonymously and those who would bully anyway a wider selection of “weapons” with which to attack.

Facebook, Twitter and other social media networks give bullies the ability to enlist the help of others in their bullying schemes and publicize whatever they want to about their victim.

A lot of teens are left stressed out, wondering if something they said or something they did will wind up posted on Fb for all to see.

Celebrities‘People Don’t Know But I’ve Experienced Three Civil Wars’ – Juliet Ibrahim by lewispius(op): 6:44am On Oct 16, 2016
Juliet Ibrahim in a chat with Ariyike Akinbobola talks about her career, motherhood and one thing many people don’t know about her – she has survived three civil wars in three different countries.

On her civil wars experience she said:

“People don’t know but I’ve experienced three civil wars; Liberia civil war, Lebanon civil war and Ivory Coast war. With my family, we were in Liberia, my dad is a Lebanese and he was a business man, so, he used to run a supermarket in Liberia and that was where he met my mum. We were there for a while and then in 1990, the first war broke out and its just like having a supermarket, and because of the war in that area, you have to leave everything in it, and take your family out of the country.

“We went to Lebanon and Lebanon’s war started in 1992, and because I’m the first born of my family, even though I was still a kid, I saw everything and it made me grow up so fast because I was the first born, I had to help my mum.

“My dad went to work one morning, only for us to see that the story building before us just dropped. There was a bomb that was sent to it and it just fell down. And then I shouted and my mum asked us to run.

“So, how they built their houses in Lebanon, they always have an underground, under the very last floor, like a basement. Everybody in the building had to go down there. We were on the ninth floor and I remembered my mum carried my little brother and I carried my sister Sonia, and then we ran downstairs. We can’t go through the elevator, we had to go through the stairs, nine floors…

“Because there can be bombings, so that you don’t get stucked. Everybody ran to the basement and I remembered when my dad came back, he had a discussion with my mum and we had to go back to Liberia, because then, Liberia’s war had ceased.

“We were in Liberia in 1992 again, escaped the war in Lebanon and then in 1994, the civil war broke out in Liberia and this time around it happened when we were only warned in the middle of the night. Somebody just came to tell my parents that you need to leave because tomorrow, they are striking. So, that’s how we called every family member, everybody that we had to go. So, once again, everybody just had a backpack because there was no time to pack anything. So we left everything. We’ve lost every single thing we had each time and started all over again.

“I saw them try to shoot my dad and my mum will stand in front of them and will be like, kill me, if you want to kill my husband, you kill me first. I saw them shoot between my mum’s legs at one point. I experienced a whole lot when I was a kid. I even saw them try to rape one of my cousins who was with us, my mum had to fight, and what saved us that day was the jet bombers flying that day, so the rebels had to take cover. That was how we escaped and once we escaped, we were at the Ivory Coast border already, so we just used canoes.

“The guys couldn’t be on the canoes, so they put the ladies and the guys had to paddle and swim us across. I lost a cousin, my mum’s sister’s son drowned in that process. I’ve gone through a whole lot in my life, but we got to Ivory Coast and we were alive. That was the most important thing. We started sleeping on the ground because we had nothing. So, we slept on the floor for weeks till our dad could get money from his Lebanese friends to buy things. So, we got a place, rented like two bedroom apartment and we were like seven to eight people in the house.

“People don’t really understand because I have actually stayed in mud houses before. So, I’ve had my experiences. I’ve had to live as a refugee and it was crazy because we lived like 10 years in Ivory Coast and that’s why I speak very good french, people don’t know, I read and write good french.

“And then, a war broke out in Ivory Coast and my dad wasn’t around then. He was working in Lebanon or somewhere, so, he had to call my mum that ‘leave the supermarket like that, take the kids and leave to Ghana.’ And that was how we went by road to Ghana. But when we were going, the car that took my mum and little brother didn’t have space for me and my sister, so, we had to separate as a family. I and my sister went on a public transport while my mum and my little brother went with her friend’s family in their car.

“I remembered when the rebels stopped the bus my sister and I were in, and asked everybody to get down, we got lucky again because they were trying to harass us, when they got a phone call and left. So, my family finally reunited at the border in Ghana and as soon as we crossed the border, I fainted and was at the hospital for four weeks. We came with a bag but today, I am where I am. I look at people complain and I’m like, No, God always has a reason.

“I remember when we were growing up and my dad was fighting for us to go and live in the states, and they will deny us visa 100 times. And the first time I went to apply as an actress, my mum asked if they were not going to deny us again. We were all given 5 years visa and that was it.

“You don’t need to be there that is why God doesn’t put you there so you can try so hard, pray so hard and do everything to make everything work and if it doesn’t work for you, ,maybe its because that’s not your calling or where you’re supposed to be. So, focus on something else. Let everything happen the way its supposed to happen because if everything had gone so right for me back then and my family, I wont be where I am today. So that’s why I always believe I’m put in this position for a purpose, for a particular reason so I can make use of it. If you follow me on social media, you’ll see I’m always talking inspirational stuffs because I know where I’ve come from and this is just my family story.”

CelebritiesIs There Any Producer Who Can Dethrone Don Jazzy As King? by lewispius(op): 2:16pm On Sep 16, 2016
Michael Collins aka Don Jazzy has come a very long way as Nigeria’s most decorated music producer and astute music mogul. The name Don Jazzy commands a mammoth amount of influence. Don baba J has produced a long list of first class hits songs, best selling afro-pop albums, headed one of the biggest record labels in Africa, defunct Mo’Hits Records and now Mavin Records. Yes, that makes him such a big deal in the Nigerian music industry.

It will take anybody that aspires to beat his record more than just magic fingers to dwarf his achievements. Why? Because Don Jazzy is not just an ace music producer, he understands the business part of music; he knows how to sell records. At this time in Nigerian music we have very ‘mad’ producers; Pheelz, Young Jonn, DJ Coublon, GospelOnDeBeatz, Masterkraft, DJ Ruffee and the rest too numerous to mention. But the above listed producers have not come close to achieving as much as Don Jazzy, nonetheless they have fabricated viral hit tunes.

This year has revealed quite a few badass music producers like Krizbeatz, DJ Altims, Egarboi, P2J. These guys are the names behind hits like Pana, Oluwa Ni, Standard, Do Like That, Ajaga, Bad.
Out of the lot mentioned I warm up very well to DJ Altims productions. I dare say one music producer to watch. His sound interpretation of afro-fusion is crazy. Only worthy of a protege to Nigeria’s king of sound Don Jazzy. DJ Altims is easily a type of Major Laser.

Altims Beat, born Aluku Timothy, started out as a rapper in his days as a Computer Engineering student in University of Benin. He decided to move behind the microphone after testing himself to improve the contemporary sounds he was hearing on the radio. His rich fusion of afrobeat and hip-hop ensures that he will remain at the top of his game for a long time.

DJ Altims was signed to Mavin Records in 2012. I want to bet my chips on DJ Altims as one music producer who can replicate the massive success of his Boss Don baba J or better still dethrone him. But it won’t all happen overnight.

Is There really Any Producer Who Can Dethrone Don Jazzy As King?

Celebrities‘eye Of God’ Spotted In Sky Sparks Illuminati Conspiracy Theories by lewispius(op): 3:04pm On Sep 10, 2016
A photograph of a ‘scary’ rare cloud formation which has been dubbed ‘the eye of God’ has sparked fear into social media users after it was linked to the Illuminati .

The huge god-like eye appears to be looking down on the city of Astana – the capital of Kazakhstan – where the photo was taken.

An online amateur photographer, identified only as “1shustry”, posted the snap and said: “I only noticed the eye a few days after I took the picture.”

Clearly concerned that they were being watched, one person known as ‘Mailibeck’, commented: “Illuminati confirmed.”

The Illuminati, which translates as “englightened”, is a name given to several historic secret societies – both real and fictional.

Conspiracy theories surrounding the mysterious group claim that they are either in control of the world or are seeking to take control of the world.

The theories, which are hugely popular online, usually feature the Eye of Providence on top of a pyramid.

CelebritiesSome Actresses Have Bad Breath - Actor Frank Artus by lewispius(op):
Actor Frank Artus born to Egyptian dad and Liberian mum has confirmed to Amanda Jissih on Gh One TV that some actresses have bad breath.

The actor on E-Talk entertainment show sharing some of his bad moments on set told the show host that he wished he could act some roles in a much better way than what directors want him to do but he is not allowed.

When Amanda asked how he manages to kiss an actress with bad breath, he answered that “you can imagine that”. He later said he has gone through the pain of kissing actresses with bad breath countless times when Mandy J questioned him if he has ever faced such trouble on set.

On how he communicates such issues to directors whilst on set, Frank disclosed that “even if you communicate with the director, he will be like there is nothing we can do around this time. Where we are right now lets do this and you have to.”

He quickly added that “its part of the job. Every job has clean and dirty side”.
