4. Christ Embassy


Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and his wife, Anita Odegwa Oyakhilome made the news, when the very popular pastor was accused of marital infidelity and unreasonable behavior by his wife.


We first heard about it in in 2014 when Anita reportedly made the first move to severe ties from her estranged husband by filing for divorce in a London court citing irreconcilable differences as reason for her decision.
The church pulled down her profile from their website. Anita went on to blog about what she called a rocky and abusive relationship with pastor Chris.

3. Winners Pastor Caught With Human Meat


On May 21, 2016 it was reported that a pastor of a Living Faith Church, a k a Winners Chapel Chapel, Adeniyi John, was caught by a mob at Ijomu area of Akure metropolis of Ondo State with pieces of fried meat suspected to be human parts and other fetish paraphernalia.


Amidst the ensuing confusion, the man was moved to the palace of Deji of Akure, where he was quizzed by by chiefs at the palace. The pastor said he was divinely instructed to go and share the meat to save his dying son. The police later reported that some pastors from the church had come to attest that pastor Johnson has mental issues.

2.Synagogue Church Collapse


On Friday, September 12, 2014, news went around like wildfire, the Synagogue Church of All nations (SCOAN) building at Ikotun-Egbe area of Lagos collapsed, killing 115 people.


The senior pastor of the church, T. B. Joshua has linked the tragedy to a strange aircraft “hovering” above the building shortly before it fell. A video was released on YouTube that allegedly showed the plane hovering around the building before its collapse. However, the coroner’s report unequivocally found the cause to be due to structural failure.

Recently, the news that a malnourished 9-year-old boy was rescued at the Celestial Church of Christ Key of Joy Parish Ajiwo on July 22, caused an uproar in Nigeria.

The boy was seen chained in the premises of the church which is located at Ajibawo in Ado-Odo Ota division 2.

That however is not the first time, Nigerians have been shocked by those professing to practice religion.

We have all heard shocking stories about churches at different times. Below are five of the most shocking:



1. Christian Praying Assembly (CPA)

Chukwuemeka Ezeugo aka Reverend King was just a regular Nigerian pastor who shepherded the Christian Praying Assembly (CPA) churches, located in Lagos before 2006, or so people thought.

He was arraigned on September 26, 2006 on a six-count charge of attempted murder, after he was accused of the death of a church member and setting other church members on fire. He was also accused of impregnating several other girls and forcing them into abortions.

The stories were as many as they were disgusting, all pointing to a man whom his church members had come to view as a god of sorts, and who used the power he wielded to commit atrocities.

The former commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan, retired US Army General John F. Campbell , was the mastermind behind the failed July 15 military coup in Turkey, the Yeni Safak daily has reported, citing sources close to investigation.

Campbell, 59, was “one of the top figures who organized and managed the soldiers behind the failed coup.

Campbell also managed more than $2 billion money transactions via UBA Bank in Nigeria by using CIA links to distribute among the pro-coup military personnel in Turkey.
The ongoing investigation unveiled that Campbell had paid at least two secret visits to Turkey since May, until the day of the coup attempt.

The coup plot that was foiled by the comprehensive effort of Turkish Nation, including its citizens, politicians, media and police forces, was organized by the Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) led-by so-called cleric Fethullah Gülen who has been living in self-exile in America for several years.
American Intelligence, Military and other institutions are accused of supporting the FETO leader Gülen and his gangs for the military coup.


Military sources said Campbell, who was the commander of ISAF between August 26, 2014 and May 1, 2016, had made some top secret meetings in Erzurum military base and Adana İnicrlik Airbase.

If the coup attempt was successful, Campbell would have visited Turkey in a short time, according to the sources.

Transition of $2 billion from Nigeria to Turkey
The Nigeria branch of the United Bank of Africa (UBA) was the main base for the last six-months of money transactions for the coup plotters. Millions of dollars of money has been transferred from Nigeria to Turkey by a group of CIA personnel.

The money, which has been distributed to an 80-person special team of the CIA, was used to convince pro-coup generals. More than 2 billion dollars were distributed during the process leading to the coup. After taking money from their bank accounts, the CIA team hand delivered it to the terrorists under the military dresses

Many would disagree with this and at the same time, many would agree with the analogy the image is portraying.
It’s simply saying girls become robust and more matron-like after marriage while guys become thinner due to stress of marriage responsibility.

9ice surely wasn’t playing around when he wrote those lyrics for his hit single, “Street Credibility” featuring 2face Idibia, now 2Baba.


The sad thing about these boisterous and somewhat boastful lyrics is that none of them has been able to live up to that promise, heck they don’t even look like they are on that path to begin with!


In the history of Nigerian music, only Afrobeat king, Femi Anikulakpo-Kuti, has come closest to bringing what is arguably the world’s most revered musical accolade home.
With a career that has spanned for decades and international collaborations with Common, Mos Def, Jaguar Wright and many more, Femi Kuti’s albums including Day by Day and Africa for Africa have won him Grammy nominations in 2010, 2011, 2013 and most recently in 2014.


That’s the farthest any Nigerian has gone with regards to bringing home a Grammy Award.

Enter Wizkid and Davido. Without doubt, currently two of Nigeria’s most promising Grammy prospects.

Davido, at 24, has accomplished much more than lots of artistes well into their thirties and forties put together. With several hits and accolades over his five-year-old career, Davido’s popularity has reached international status having worked with the likes of Trey Songz, Meek Mill and many others. Most recently, he signed a record deal with international music label, Sony BMG.

Then there’s Wizkid, the 26-year-old music boy wonder. In typical Naija fashion, there’s been comparison between Wizkid and Davido. I had always chosen Davido over Wizkid for a number of reasons, but recently Davido has been “falling my hand”. I could tolerate all his childish tantrums and excesses, his sometimes questionable fashion choices and his unproductive affiliation with B-Red, Danagog, Sina Rambo and all the other HKN wannabes; but it almost seems like this deal he signed with Sony BMG has become more of a curse than a blessing o! First of all, he has postponed his sophomore album to only-God-knows-when and he hasn’t dropped any new music for quite a while now.

Wizkid on the other hand has been making major moves of late. From his announcement at the Ghana Music Awards where he made public the new Ghanaian signings to his Starboy music imprint, to his going on tour with Chris Brown, his recent collaboration with Tinie Tempah and now his latest single, Shabba on which he has American music heavyweights Trey Songz, Chris Brown and French Montana; did I also mention his feature on Drake’s chart-topping single, One Dance , which by the way is still atop the UK charts.

I may not necessarily like a lot of his songs that are centered on women shaking their endowments and all what not, but I would be the last person to hate on someone with such talent and prospect.

If Wizkid continues at this pace, my projection is that he will definitely bring home a Grammy award in the next few years… can I get an Amen?
