To “use official channels…”; as if they would act if not that it went viral on social media. Imposing archaic practices on others! |
Na wa for Nigerian version of democracy o! No one hears anything about LP anymore; it’s now the turn of the once oblivious ADC! Nigerian politicians make una fear God small na! If democracy is this way, then it’s almost impossible to have a government from another party going forward! |

Well written - captures virtually all the actors and factors in the self-destruct drama in the party! |
It beats my imagination how any party in their right senses with practically no representation in government except for recent decampees to want to completely deplete their almost nonexistent representatives in government. Makes no sense that instead of seeking out more entrants they would want to chase out the few. Could it be the usual ‘hand of Esau and voice of Jacob’ in Nigerian politics? It’s well for Nigerian politics o! |
unitysheart:Help me tell them! |
Really the most baffling part is how the government doesn’t think beyond today. Most oil exporting countries have reserves to cushion the effects of some of these uncontrollable macro and global factors. This besides prioritizing local needs. All you hear are excuses on how the rising costs are driven by the uncontrollable war in far away Iran. How are you leaders when the only strategy you know is how to grab and hold onto power? Besides the internal war with terrorism, we’ve added a war we’re not fighting into our battles. Am sure the next possible solution you’ll see is an increase in MPR, meanwhile the average Nigerian is struggling for money for one meal a day and to go about his/her duties. Smh! |
…yet light is still terrible! |
Opinedecandid:💯. I see comment like it might have been arranged by Amaechi (or ADC). While this is possible (politicians being what they are), a proper and unbiased investigation is meant to unravel this. And when that happens, the perpetrators (whether they’re the opposition or ruling party thugs) must be ruthlessly dealt with as deterrent to others. Also see comments about Amaechi’s low grassroots acceptance. Who shows disapproval by committing arson? And why would it be an attack by a handful and not a community peacefully demonstrating non-acceptance or better still disapproving through their votes (when the time comes)? Who benefits (or suffers) when disapproval is demonstrated by arson? |
I don’t care about a Muslim-Muslim or a Christian-Christian ticket. However, the hypocrisy here’s simply disgusting: there will be grumbles if it’s changed to a Muslim-Christian ticket but if it remains Muslim-Muslim ticket, the Christians will be fine with it and not complain (because they’re used to it)… 🤦🏽♂️ |

Except if it’s a government ministry or something with no clear ethics and HR structure. Since the boss is not responsive and it’s bothering you this much report to HR, Ethics, your boss, etc. Ensure you follow up to get clear actions from such person and make it clear you plan to escalate to the police if you’re not getting responses. Then follow through with reporting to police if no action from organization. But if it’s life-threatening, do not hesitate to report to the police immediately. |
If risk of hacking (to favor the opposition) is such a concern I wonder why the APC-led government would approve the Act at all. Are they insinuating “there would be no network in the majority of polling units”, justifying a potential mainly manual collation “so that the results are not hacked”? Again, what’s the APC-led government scared of in not allowing a full e-transmission of results? The Telcos have reiterated that claims of no network coverage in good part of the country is false. By now, we should be discussing real time e-voting from the comfort of our homes, yet we are reluctant about simple transmission of results (even though anyone can send anything to anyone anywhere in the world from his/her phone and from practically anywhere in the world). |
Very lame excuse; 💯 agreed. And that’s why the these politicians cannot fool us with the excuses for not approving full mandatory transmission of results. While we’re at it, Oga explain to us why you suddenly had a glitch for just presidential election in 2023, considering the system was as good as you explained. Another case of “seeing the light after leaving the position “? |
And if after “Nigerians” compare and there are differences between what eventually gets uploaded and what’s on the form what other option do they resort to? “Go to court”? It’s obviously going to be: “allow electronic transmission while holding unto results of Areas in our turf. Afterwards, there will be no network in such areas if it’s clear we’re not doing well in Areas e-transmission were allowed, then we perform our miracles.” These shamefully corrupt politicians think they’re wise. Smh!🤦🏽♂️ |
I really don’t think Amaechi is wrong. He might have loosely used the term “building materials “ but rental income of N100m attracts 25% tax under the new tax Act (compared to WHT of 10% under previous tax regime). Unfortunately, landlords find a way to transfer these tax burdens to tenants, hence resulting in increased rental costs. Instead of this cost inducing provision of the Act, the governments need to find ways of reducing this burden through less burdensome tax regulations for instance. |
They claim the north has no electricity nor internet to allow for e-transmission of results. Since the north is also advocating for e-transmission, what other excuses do they have in their kitty? |
Every well meaning Nigerian and group is advocating for the right thing to be done - mandatory transmission of election results from the polling units. If the senators claim to be representatives of the people, then they have to heed completely to the desire of the people. |
Very lame and stone-aged excuses from the senate president! I can’t think of anywhere in Nigeria I have been to that I can’t successfully upload a document and send to someone in any part of the world. Highest is a couple of minutes lag then it goes. So why can’t a trillion budget achieve this simple task with transmitting results upon completion of voting? Assuming his lame excuses of lack of electricity and all is an issue (which I don’t know how when you can as well have standby generators), whose responsibility is it to provide electricity and necessary infrastructure? Is it still not the government’s? Again, what’s a trillion budget for - pay adhoc staff, print papers and bride for results manipulation? Oga Senator, that’s not the demand from one NGO, it’s a demand from well meaning Nigerians that are yearning for democratic advancement and credible elections! |
I wish they listen to this voice of reason. |

deji17:Another story please; this is stale! |
This same Lagos? Hell NO. Not only are the public waters practically nonexistent in most Areas, property owners and tenants spend so much money to get very dirty and unusable water. I have even heard ridiculous stories like the government wanting to impose levies to allow private individuals and corporations drill boreholes for themselves, a role the government glaringly refuses to perform despite the huge IGR generated from same citizens. So I completely disagree this rating. |
Recently heard similar story from a friend. Our conversation evolved into church activities and she broke the news that she now attends Catholic (like me). “Why..?” I asked. And it was all tales of choir and general church related pressures (pressure to get different outfits for almost every other Sunday or function, cater to transport costs for different occasions, holier than though and general hypocritical intolerance, etc). This is usually not the case in the Western world (who embraced Christianity before Africa). Most times, no one cares how you dress to Church. A lot of these people are just trying to make ends meet. So the churches should desist from chasing them away with these unnecessary pressures. It’s more annoying when these people have challenges and go to the church for some succor, and start hearing excuses like: “the church cannot cater to such requests “, “we do not want to set precedence “,…. The churches need to do better. |
Are these miscreants just foolish or utterly bent on destroying their land? Accusing the governor of sabotaging the livelihoods of the traders. What worst sabotage could there be than to continually force your people to shut their businesses on Mondays under the guise of emancipation? Some say it’s to force the rest of the country to accede to letting Biafra be. Others say it’s to free MNK. How does punishing your own people help in achieving any of these?! Mehn!!!! |
Seems the people like this Monday sit at home self-inflicted bondage. If not, how are they this audacious about the government’s efforts to correct the ‘ugly’ trend? We cannot look pass how bokoharam have metamorphosed into the current monster of terrorism. This was significantly encouraged by the people’s subtle acceptance of the menace. The East has to wriggle out of this mess already! |
Just imagine nonsense talk! 🤦🏽♂️ |
How does this pattern of always using the courts to stifle the voice of workers in a supposed democratic system make any sense? I don’t recall even one instance that the courts have mandated these politicians to give the workers their dues. If the people are always restricted from exercising their rights to association and expression through industrial actions, what other tools are available to them to get these selfish and corrupt politicians to cater for their welfare? Seems the courts are long past “being the last hope of the common man “; to now being the “sure hope of the deep pocket politicians “. SMH! |
Compensation for what exactly?! |
They've given up. Not a word about challenging their representatives in the Senate to demand an explanation. Not a word about sending a stern message to government that this will not stand. Nothing. They have folded. It’s because of restrictions by the laptop miscreant crew on the platform continue to ban everyone that’s expressing any form of outrage on this devilish act of their corrupt and devilish paymasters. See the amount of killings Kwara and all over the country, yet it’s about doing everything to perpetuate rigging, and their laptop miscreants doing their bidding on this and other forums. See all I posted on this subject and got banned. Imagine how many others that are being banned for expressing their views on this bizarre act of unpatriotism by the Senate.
