Some good step. But how about in case of incumbency, will the incumbent government step aside (for an interim government) while the litigations are going on, or will they continue to rule? |
Oxbow01:That’s what cowards do! |
RepoMan007:Exactly! Reno is also typing: “Obi …” |
Reality2023:Really?! What else can be more important than catering for the welfare of the populace? Lots of residences not only provide their own water, they also take care of roads, security, etc. How else can they feel the impact of government? |
NO!!! Provide own water! Still read about ridiculous “underground water…” charges or whatever that’s called for the government neglecting its responsibility. |
Quarterpast:Exactly. There’s nothing money cannot do in this country. Poverty is a big disease in this country. It’s simply crazy. Ask most of those guys out there if they even know what’s happening, most have no clue. |
Goodvibes007:How can this country ever progress with this kind of orientation? I shudder so much seeing how they shamelessly talk about keeping some fraudulent agreements, without their consciences pricking them a bit. The so-called security agencies hearing and knowing these dirty deals continue to feign ignorance, while Oga at the top can only heave blames on the lamb for the slaughter. So how can the right people ever get the opportunity to do the right thing? The situation is being worsened by how they’re doing everything possible to impose a one party system in the country, where any possible aspirant will have to worship them and be forced to making dirty promises just to get opportunity to change things for the better. This is just a terribly disgusting politics, that simply keep the common man and the country at large hopeless. |
ddippset:Exactly! Doing nothing to Wike, the instigator in chief, just confirmed the allegations that this is just part of the ploy for 2027. |
I guess he misses the real life - being carefree and happy 😆 |
Princeton92:As in ehn! Simple response: “we have ended the deal” or “we’ve not ended the deal”; that’s all. All this English is unnecessary. |
I believe Dangote is not just reducing petrol prices for Ramadan purposes. One may argue that Cement is not a consumer product the like of PMS, but never noticed reduction in cement prices. I have a strong feeling it’s to deal with these importers, and probably make them sell at losses or at least very low margins. Personally, I agree with promoting local content in this case. Just makes no sense to continue to import a product originally exported from Nigeria. |
LagosOrigin:💯 |
Yankee101:Exactly. You can’t reap without sowing. There’s no problem with taxing if the government properly stimulates economic growth. Imagine being forced to pay taxes and levies on revenues like FRC does, when the so-called revenues are due to NGN devaluation, and the entities are actually in huge loss positions. Almost every day you see one stupid demand notice or the other from different agencies of government, with bogus figures, hoping for kickbacks. Practically no infrastructure to feign some support for these businesses. All of these amidst the palpable poverty. So hoping to rely on taxes and levies as new crude oil, is simply dangerous from almost all ramifications. |
I think the GAC has kinda helped to determine leadership in the state over time. However, where’s the people’s power in all of these? Lawmakers are supposed to be representatives of the people. If anything, they should be consulting their constituents in performing their duties. Members of the GAC ain’t elected representatives of the people. Since the lawmakers have decided to change their Assembly leadership why can’t the GAC just accept it (consulting or not)? Fine, they want to maintain their power, but isn’t it more honorable to let this fizzle away naturally? |
wiseone28:That’s where the real problem lies. We have very poor maintenance culture (aka “no be my own” culture) as a people, and that really needs to change. |
Is it just me? I hate these dangerous tribal sentiments being whipped up on virtually every important topic/issue on this platform. Without any relevance to the topic you start reading the nauseating “..Igbo this…”, “Yoruba that…”. How much do these guys get paid to continuously fan this flame of gross hatred and bigotry? How can Nigeria ever progress at this rate? We should at least have thumbs down buttons for people and comments like that (since the mods seem to either be encouraging these nonsense or simply have no idea how to control this dangerous trend). SMH! 🤦🏽♂️ |
Thundafireseun:Am likely older than you are, but that’s not important… A mature mind will at least explain why he’s wishing someone else dead! |
I rushed in happily when I saw 24.48. It would be more informative to know what the number would be without rebasement for measurement of the real inflationary drop. |
Thundafireseun:…trying to understand this 🤔 |
KevMitnick:Don’t mind the very childish fellow, with nothing in his dumb head other than Peter Obi. They’re talking about serious allegation involving terrorism but his mechanical brain can’t think beyond PO. |
Looking to switch to an affordable and reliable internet provider in Lagos (Gbagada precisely for now). This is for the household internet (can still manage mobile data). Have been using MTN even before this hike, and 75GB just takes a couple of days to be consumed. This is not sustainable with the current hike. In any case, my first consideration is reliability before costs (I hate buffering connections). So which IP do you recommend please. Have been making inquiries about ipNx (because it seems cheaper), but not sure of reliability. |
The era of two fingers in the air (for two free days to lazy away 😂) has truly ended! |
EKONGKING:I thought I was the only one that saw that. I was just laughing 🤣 |
This will be very interesting. *grab my popcorn 🍿 * |
What I find most amusing is how they cry foul over this archaic Sharia system, yet are clearly being hypocritical. I was practically being forced to click that I believe in Allah and Mohammed… when I attempted to reply to similar thread supporting the Muslims’ position (I.e. https://www.nairaland.com/8330879/shariah-law-southwestern-nigeria-clearing). But as soon as I clicked “No”. I was blocked from replying any Islamic thread. On the contrary, I see Muslims having a field day on all Christian related threads. Also, if sharia is only for muslems, why do the hisbah miscreants seize and destroy alcoholic drinks belonging to Christian businesses? |
Like Mayaki like Reno/Bwala! |
elasticlala:Help me ask those people above? Assuming Fubara with less than 2 years is unaware that he should even be using a higher authority pen, Wike didn’t know this for 14 whole years!!! And those paid robots above will be spewing rubbish! Smh! |
So Fubara was even being humble; he chose the red pen instead of that for the highest authorities - the green pen! Smh for some people above. |
kcprince:Just unimaginable I tell you! Imagine the water bodies all around Lagos, yet most areas have no portable water supply. And when people and companies use their hard earned resources (now severely depleted by multiple levies and taxes, hyperinflation, NGN devaluation, etc), the government (especially LAGS) still come all you in the name of generating IGR. Shouldn’t the focus be on welfare of the people and creating conducive business environment? 🤦🏽♂️ |
mairogo:Co-asking these blindfolded and irrational followers. I agree with those that say the government’s plan is to impoverish Nigerians. |
vanbonattel:…And they’re trumpeting it so loud as some laudable achievements. Very shameless set of people! |
Please how’s this an achievement that someone with 5 Rolls Royce can only afford a Honda now? If people of that caliber could drop this abysmally low due to government policies and economic ineptitude, how low would the hitherto middle class and low earners go? Invariably, they would have to dig deeper into the abyss of poverty and penury. Again, people were quick to brush off the recent stampede incidents with poor organization (agreed), but the root cause still stares at everyone’s face and it’s seen as an achievement! 🤦🏽♂️ |
