Nairaland General9 Things Nigerians Need In 2016 by lexiie(op): 10:46am On Jan 05, 2016
2016 is here and Nigerians are expectant and hopeful for the new year as it would be a new beginning for many and also bring about countless opportunities and possibilities.

9-THINGS-NIGERIANS-NEED-2016-EVATESE-BLOG (3) January 2015 , we listed 10 things that needed change in Nigeria Urgently , another year has come so In the light of this anticipation , Evatese Blog brings to you the minds of Nigerians as to what they Need To in 2016.
9 THINGS NIGERIANS NEED IN 2016

IMPROVED SECURITY
With the increase in armed robberies , riots , terrorism , lives and properties have been lost . In 2016 , Nigerians need a higher level of security.

GOOD ROADS
Our roads are terrible , thereby causing traffic , accidents and even making car owners make regular visits to mechanics. some places are not even motor able so In 2016 we expect roads to be repaired not patched.

APAPA PORT + TRAFFIC GRIDLOCK LASTING SOLUTION

If you live in Lagos or visited Lagos last year , 2015 , i am sure you experienced the madness of tankers taking over the major roads and causing a lot of traffic.

Aside from the traffic , the negative impact on human health as to deadly fumes and loss of lives as to falling of containers.

The persistent traffic gridlock on the Oshodi-Apapa expressway in Lagos calls for the government to have a lasting solution to this issue

CREATION OF JOBS
There are more unemployed graduates in Nigeria than most parts of the world, Nigeria has about 40 million unemployed graduates.

After completing a degree it is the dream of every graduate to join the workforce and make a living.

The current unemployment situation is eating in so fast and more graduates are home , jobless , most forced to do menial jobs just to survive.

2016 , Nigerian need improvement concerning the unemployment rate.

FUEL STABILITY
2015 we saw the worst of it all as to the constant and long lingering fuel scarcity. Nigerians are tired of the torment of 2016 , tired of long queues at the petrol stations.
We all hoping the government acts quickly to kill the scarcity in the country.

TRAFFIC LIGHTS + TRAFFIC CURBING
In order to curb traffic , Nigerians need traffic lights in most areas.

IMPROVED AND STABLE ELECTRICITY
Very important , we all know how terrible the power supply has been especially in the last year .
9-THINGS-NIGERIANS-NEED-2016-EVATESE-BLOG (5)
Nigerians need stable power supply . Some places don’t even see light for months , some for weeks and some no power supply channel for them .

With the usual very frequent interruption in power , business would be crippled , industries would spend more , more queues at filling stations etc and it would also hamper our growth as a nation.

So Stable electricity supply is very essential as to speed up our growth and development of the country.

EDUCATION SECTOR REFORM

Nigeria’s educational sector is epileptic, starting from the tertiary, secondary and even primary level, the system hardly works.

Constant riots and strike actions that students have to undergo has to stop. Long neglect, poor funding , late payment of salaries have become a norm in the sector.

Do you agree with this list ?

The Nigerian Economy is facing a huge reformation and everyone is cutting costs and looking for a way to save . Also fuel scarcity and price hike is inevitable so it becomes advisable and necessary that we all cut costs in fuel usage.

Fuel-saving-tips-for-every-car-owner-evatese-Blog (1)
Fuel Saving Tips For You
1. Avoid Rush Hours

Those who live in the big cities and ,metropolis where the population is high tend to face this every single day.
Cities such as Lagos , Port-harcourt, Abuja etc tend to have Rush hour Traffic as everyone is trying to get home early at the same time.

Traffic Jam is a fuel consumer, because when you are stuck in traffic your car uses more fuel as you try to keep up up with the slow movement.

Do you know that Every time that you stop and start in traffic, your car needs first gear and a huge amount of fuel to get moving again?

So in case you can't avoid this , then save yourself the hassle and get a hybrid car, which uses much less fuel in town than a normal petrol or diesel.
2. Travel at Regular Speed.

It is not advisable to accelerate repeatedly and slow then as doing so .

A car speeding at 80mph uses 10% more fuel than one cruising at 70mph, according to the Department for Transport.-Guardian
3.Try as Much as Possible to Reduce Pressure on Your Accelerator.

While driving, always apply steady and consistent pressure to your car’s accelerator pedal. A heavy foot will always result in reduced gas mileage and poor fuel consumption
4.Service your car

Proper maintenance of your car is very essential as it helps to reduce if not eliminate issues such as dirty air filters, old spark plugs or low fluid levels which in return can boost your fuel usage.

You also need to maintained the efficiency of your engine and make sure you’re using the correct engine oil.
5.Carpooling

You can save on your fuel costs by Carpooling. In case you have no idea what it is . Carpooling is a term used to describe sharing of car journeys so that more than one person travels in a car.

So this can be a good way to save , look for friends , colleagues or community members who head to same direction as you . Carpooling will help a lot, even only one day a week.

Before We go further , Let me ask you this guilt imbibed question . Do you use the right fuel ?

Do you know that you can improve your fuel usage by using the right fuel . As they last longer and also help to minimize your consumption ?

so you should not that your fuel matters.
6. Use the Public Transport System

Public transport system is a major option fuel saving tip. You not only save more by using public transport but also save yourself the hassle and stress driving in traffic. Public transport like Bus, taxi , train and even ferry. If you are concerned of how annoying and jam-packed the buses are then try the BRT buses or take a taxi.
7.Regular Check on Your Tyre Pressure

Keeping the correct air pressure in your tyres is essential as your tyres wear longer, save fuel
8. Close your windows.

You might have the mentality that not using your Air conditioning saves you fuel but you are wrong.Do you know that closed windows are a big saver.

When you windows are opened it allows for significant drag above 80 kph. Wind resistance increases fuel consumption; so try to keep windows closed at high speed

Aircons use no fuel on engine braking and help with slowing a car down .Air con uses less fuel at highway speeds as the engine speed is more constant

So Switch aircons off on uphills and where cars need more power

In Conclusion , Making the most of the gas you put in your vehicle is one way of ensuring that you achieve the best possible fuel economy.

Being economical about fuel will help save money, reduce oil dependence costs, reduce climate changes, and increase energy sustainability.

Evatese Blog has come up with valuable fuel economy tips for drivers. These fuel saving tips will show you how to save more on Fuel Usage and consumption.

Christianity EtcLet’s Discuss: Is Taking Alcohol A Sin? Join The Conversation Now!!!!! by lexiie(op): 1:12pm On Oct 11, 2015
Hey fellow Nairalanders, Happy Sunday to you.
So in the mood of Sunday and on the weekly Let’s Discuss Segment on a blog , this important question was asked :

Is Taking Alcohol a sinhuh

Before I get crucified on the cross let me explain the question very well. There are different perceptions. Christians frown at it , Muslims i am not sure.

Now looking at it from the concept of the bible.

The Bible says that “wine is a mocker, intoxicating drink arouses brawling” (Proverbs 20:1).

The Bible also says, “Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbor, pressing him to your bottle, even to make him drunk” (Habakkuk 2:15).

Yet the Bible does not say that drinking a glass of wine or beer, or a cocktail with dinner, is a sin. Drunkenness is a sin, forbidden by the Bible, but having one drink may not be wrong. Do you agree ?

So Today i am throwing this question out to you all. Is drinking alcohol a sin ? Why do you think it is a sin ? give your reasons .

Oya the floor is open …Lets Discuss!!!

Music/RadioMust See List Of Songs Banned By NBC -olamide, Phyno.. by lexiie(op): 10:27am On Aug 19, 2015
First this whole banning of songs after it has circulated doesnt quite add up to me.

The Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has again banned some hit songs, requesting Media houses not to play these songs for different reasons ranging from obscene videos, vulgar lyrics, videos depicting violence and promotion of ostentatious lifestyle, indecent exposure and many more.

A couple of Nigerian A list artistes such as Davido, Reminisce, Wizkid, Olamide, and Phyno were included in this list and to my surprise even some international artist like Chris brown , Omarion and even Nicki Minaj were included in the list.

So all these artist affected would no longer have some of their songs broadcasted by media houses under the NBC guide.

NBC has really warned media houses not to broadcast these songs to avoid been slammed with heavy penalties.

Below is a full list of songs banned….

Meanwhile to keep you updated, here is the list

YAYO - PHYNO
TESOJUE - REMINISCE
NICKI MINAJ - ANACODA
OLAMIDE - INDOMIE
OLAMIDE - BOBO
OLAMIDE - FALILA KETAN
WIZKID - IN MY BED
NAETO C ft Dbanj -TONY MONTANA
DR SID FT TIWA SAVAGE - OYARI
DAVIDO - FANS MI
IYANYA ft DON JAZZY - GIFTS
OMARION ft CHRIS BROWN - POST TO BE
JHIBO - LOMO
MAYD - IBADI
LIL KESH - GBESERE

What do you think ?

Romance6 Reasons That Show All Nigerian Men Con-men by lexiie(op): 1:02pm On Aug 06, 2015
All Nigerian Men are Con Men. When I saw this I was amazed.
Kenyan lady and writer fondly called City Girl has written an article below.

What is it with Kenyan women and Nigerian men? What is it with those
short, stocky bearded West African mohines that make Kenyan women move
planets for them?

We have heard enough stories about how Kenyan women borrowed loans for
their Nigerian boyfriends to pay for ‘containers with goods worth
millions’ stuck at the port only for the Nigerian man to disappear.

I know Kenyan women whose careers and lives have come to a standstill
after a Nigerian man swept them clean, and I mean clean; car, house,
land, money… everything.

We have heard enough stories about how Kenyan women borrowed loans for
their Nigerian boyfriends to pay for ‘containers with goods worth
millions’ stuck at the port only for the Nigerian man to disappear.

So today, ladies, I chose to address this topic, once and for all.
After this, I don’t expect any of you to be conned by a so-called
‘romantic’ Nigerian man. I will only say this once.

Stay away from Nigerian men! All Nigerian men are conmen. Repeat after
me; “All Nigerian men are conmen”. There are no exceptions here. When
you see a Nigerian man, run the other way. Don’t stop to invoke the
name of Jesus or pray. Just take cover.

While you are at it, here are a few pointers you need to look out for
in a Nigerian man. If he exhibits any of these traits, then you are
dealing with a riffraff.

1• He is too romantic

You have never met a man like him. He treats you like a glass statue
and worships the ground you walk on. He is not like the unromantic
Kenyan men who don’t text you back or return your calls. He calls you
‘baby’ all the time except when he calls you ‘my queen’.

You have never been immersed in so much love and affection. You are
literally intoxicated in his love. He will even paint your toenails
and shampoo your hair. Red flag.
He is fattening you up for slaughter. He is warming your heart.
Softening you up by leading you to believe that you have found the
one. It is not humanly possible for a man to be 100 per cent romantic,
24 hours a day, seven days a week. That romantic Nigerian man is up to
something.

2• He throws money at you

No man in his right mind will throw money at a woman. Kwani wewe ni
nani? But this Nigerian is the most generous man you have ever met in
your life. He even gives you money before you ask for it because ‘you
are special and you deserve it’.

He debunks every myth you have ever heard about Nigerian men swindling
women off their money. You relax and put your guard down. You think
that the Lord has finally smiled upon you and given you a wonderful
man who is not only loving, but also rich. All those prayers you
prayed for a husband have finally been answered. Shock on you.

He is making an investment and he knows what he is doing. He will
shower you with gifts and money amounting to Sh1 million, knowing very
well that he will con you Sh3 million and make a profit Sh2 million.
Tax free.

One day, when you least expect, he will strike. He will be in dire
need of some Sh2 million for a deal and because he has created an
illusion of wealth, you will readily give in. You will run to the
sacco and borrow some Sh2 million. That will be the beginning of your
downfall.

3• He moves in with you

So he gives you a cock and bull story about how he is putting up with
a friend in Kileleshwa but has been unsuccessfully looking for a
house. You pity him and allow him to put up with you in your house for
a short while before he finds a bigger house for the two of you.

Every week, he has a new excuse. “Oh, I found one but it is too big.”
“Oh, I found another one in Lavington but I don’t like it.”

A week turns into a month and before you know it, you are co-habiting
with a Nigerian man who can barely speak English. But because he
treats you so nice (and sometimes even washes the dishes), you are
blind to his antics. Be very worried.

4• He drives your car

My friends told me this, and I couldn’t believe it. How does a woman
give her man her car to go drinking out with the ‘boys’ as she takes a
matatu to work?

Only a woman with a Nigerian boyfriend can do that. So he uses cabs
all the time and you think it is just unfair for him to spend so much
money on cabs, yet you have a car. You lend him yours and before you
know it, he is dropping you to work in your car, goes out drinking
with his friends in your car and suddenly that car is no longer yours.
Be warned.

A real man does not drive woman’s car and a smart woman does not allow
a man to use her car to run his errands. If he doesn’t have a car, let
him use a cab or buy one.

5• He has mysterious ‘trips’

He purports to be a businessman but you are not exactly sure what he
does for a living. He travels often to Dubai, China, Thailand and
Singapore for ‘business trips’.

You don’t care what he does for a living mainly because of all the
goodies he brings you. Lingerie. Expensive shoes. Perfumes. Dresses.
Bags.

He says he does business but has never really taken you to his office,
nor have you met any of his business partners. Be especially wary of
those Nigerians who purport to sell gold or cars.
He hasn’t given you a business card, but you are still okay with it
because he seems flashy and talks big. Silly girl.

One day you are going about your business and the next day you are a
suspect for a car-theft syndicate and police will insist that you are
harbouring a criminal on Interpol’s watch list. And you thought he
loved you for your great personality!

6• You run errands for him

He takes you on a ‘holiday’ to China and throws money at your feet. He
allows you to buy whatever you like because ‘you are special and you
deserve it’.

On your way back, he tells you to carry a package for him to deliver
to his friend because he has no space in his bag. You readily agree. I
mean, after all the bags he has bought you, you must have some space.
Foolish girl.

That man is using you as a conduit for drugs and you only realise it
when you are frantically calling your aging relatives from the airport
cells. The Nigerian man is long gone.

You have been warned. Stay away from Nigerian men
By City Girl (Kenya)

So now do you all agree that All Nigerian Men are Con Men?

Culture7 Common Words Used By Nigerians by lexiie(op): 8:59am On Jun 15, 2015
Hey readers , how is your day going . So i thought about how unique Nigerians are and realized that there are certain words that are commonly used by an average Nigerian daily ,if not all .

Here they are :
GOD
very common phrase. I don't think there is a day that goes by without most Nigerians calling God in their sentence. For example

'Oh My God!!!'
'There is God o!'
#askanigerian

Strike

OK strike might not be an everyday used phrase but it is a very common occurrence in Nigeria . For example usual ASUU Strike , NUC Strike , recent fuel marketers strike, etc.

Strike is a major phrase , verb or message that the Nigerian Government seems to understand and act upon. #askanigerian

Nepa

If you live in Nigeria, then there is no day that goes by without calling that name. Either to praise them or mostly to abuse , insult or rain curses on them.

Nepa (National Electric Power Authority)was an organization that govern the use of electricity in Nigeria but was privatized as The Power Holding Company of Nigeria PHCN.

For example when nepa brings the light , everybody shouts up-Nepa , but when the light goes off you hear insults , curses on them. lol very funny i guess. I must confess i am very guilty of this.

We are all guilty of this , do you agree ? #askanigerian

Fuel

Of recent in my chart and analysis , fuel is now a very common word used by a Nigerian daily. Fuel is used for virtually everything as the electricity state of Nigeria is poor.

We use fuel for our cars, for our generators etc. Have you ever stayed a day without using fuel ? #askanigerian

Money
Check out the rest here :http://www.evatese.com/2015/06/15/7-common-word-used-by-nigerians/

So i have listed words commonly used by Nigerians. Do you have any more words that you feel is common among Nigerians ? Please drop them in the comment box below and it would be added to the list

Fashion11 Fashion Rainy Season Must-haves by lexiie(op): 12:44am On Jun 10, 2015
http://www.evatese.com/2015/06/09/11-fashion-rainy-season-must-haves/
Hello Nairalanders, Rainy Season is here upon us again and the rain has been slowly dominating our days. The best part is staying indoors settling down with a warm blanket, tucked in bed with a cup of tea and a good movie.

However we still have to carry out our daily responsibilities and duties so being outside in the rain is an entirely different story. We cant stop the rain but we can protect ourselves and get ready for its unannounced entrance at a any time .

So here are eleven (11) Rainy Season must-haves that will help brighten up your day no matter how cloudy it may seem to help you get through the day.
1. Umbrella

This is by default. An umbrella is always a must have during rainy season except you love the feel of rain showering down on you . Umbrella protects your hair, clothes and yourself from getting drenched by the rain so it gives you necessary protection. An umbrella is the most practical item for keeping that mane intact on a rainy day.

Also note that some fancy umbrellas can’t withstand the force of the rain sometimes so get a sturdy one. Instead of the boring black basic umbrellas , you can go stylish with different colors, prints and patterns.

2. Raincoat

You might be wondering a raincoat ? Well yes , sometimes umbrellas might not be fashionable or even come in handy but a raincoat always does.
Most people think that a raincoat is just for kids in school but then they are wrong. Because sometimes carrying around 3 foot umbrella isn’t as convenient as a fashionable raincoat.

Just because the sky is a bit doom and gloom outside–doesn’t mean your clothes have to be.

3. Waterproof Handbags and Wallets

We all need to go about our daily activities and duties, and this doesn’t stop the rains. Leather and cloth-type purses, handbags do not go down well with rain . You can’t leave home without your makeup, phone and other gadgets you may need for work or school.

You can go for big plastic totes and large colorful purses in attractive colors, Transparent carry-alls are also a chic option for books, files and papers.

Just imagine your documents getting soaked on a bad rainy day ? Get yourself ready by purchasing a fashionable waterproof bag that would be perfect for your work or at school. Its essential to carry your belongings in a waterproof bag ,a trendy tote for example.
It is advisable to always have at least one of these accessories in your closet, That’s where a water-resistant clutch or handbag comes in handy.
pvc tote.
It’s the perfect rainy day accessory to protect your essentials during your commute.

4. Waterproof Makeup

Ladies this is for you . I am sure you do not want to be a victim of teary eyes or as some cal it raccoon eyes. When rain falls , you wont just be dealing with your clothes and accessories getting wet but also a messy face.
Always invest in water proof makeup for this rainy season. Makeup like mascara, eyeliner(to avoid teary eyes). They keep your makeup intact before you step out and the rain catches up with you .
Also a lip moisturizer is an essential waterproof makeup must have as it helps to moisturize and heal dry ,chapped lips care of your lips on a wet humid day.
Quick Tip:Apply at least two coats of waterproof mascara and eyeliner for staying power. Tinted moisturizers, a cream blush and a good primer will ensure your makeup stays in place even on the dreariest of days.
5. Rain Friendly Sandals

These sandals are the way to go . You do not have to worry about walking in the rain . They are water friendly and you can make it stylish also , These are shoe-savers!!!

Quick Tip: You can carry your shoes in a bag and do the change when I’m at the job, meeting or appointment.
6. Sweater

It is important that you cover up nicely during this chilly season as you can protect yourself from Flu and cold that comes attached with rainy season.

A good and fashionable way is to invest in sweaters of good fabrics. It serves a protective layer keeping your body warm and dry. Aside from protecting your clothes from getting drenched with the rain, a sweater, jacket or raincoat will serve as another layer to ! a cardigan sweater is a great add-on, because it’ll fit perfectly underneath a bulky jacket or trench coat. And you can easily take it off if it gets too hot.

7. Rain Boots
In some parts of the world rain boots might not be in vogue but trust me you can start it up . So protecting your feet during this season is very important especially when wading through floods of water , your rain boots come in handy .
Of course, no one wants to get their feet messy from all the puddle of water that you have to go through while making your way to the office. It’s optional to wear boots

Pull off a fashionable and chic attire with Welles or rain boots and look fabulous.

Whether they’re short or tall or plain or decorated, there are rain boots out there that will complement any outfit. Just don’t forget socks to keep your feet warm.
