CelebritiesTop 10 Breakup And Splits In Nigerian Music Industry 2013 by lexiie(op): 10:22am On Dec 27, 2013
2013 has been a year of various splits and breakups in the Nigerian Music Scene .In this year alone, there have been high profile splits/ disagreements (some still unconfirmed) between record labels/ management and artistes such as Wizkid, Wande Coal, Jesse Jagz, Brymo, Vector, Naeto C, Chuddy K and more.

As the year ends in some hours , i am writing this post on TOP BREAKUPS in the music industry .

EME/WIZKID

This was a Breakup Of Life . It was a surprise to everyone how this happened. Well Wizkid grew up quickly than expected and became a Man. Kudos to him . Most people thought and still thinks that he was the one that added the spice to EME record. Wizkid formed his own label – STAR BOY RECORDS. He has been doing well since then . If you missed on the whole gist , then read THE UNTOLD STORY

So do you think he should have left ?? Has EME been same since his departure ? Lots of question to answer

PSQUARE/MAYD

psquare split with may d

Another Split was that of May D leaving Square Records. August 2013. It was said that May D was not happy at square records and he felt that they were not doing much for his career. A press release said

“I, JUDE ‘ENGEES’ OKOYE of Square Records Limited and Northside Entertainment Limited hereby announces to the general public that Mr. Akinmayokun Awodumila, otherwise known as MAY D is no longer an artiste under the aforementioned outfits due to irreconcilable differences. We at Northside and Square Records wish him all the best in his career and life.”

*******************************************************************

CHOCOLATE CITY /BRYMO

The Bug hit Chocolate city twice as not too long after Jesse Jags left ,Brymo also left May 2013. He left the record label and released a new album, Mechant Dealers & Slaves in October . It was not a mutual breakup as Chocolate city insisted that he was still with them under his contract till 2016 . It was that bad that it beacame a Legal case .

It was said that when Chocolate City consistently failed to fulfill its obligations under the contract and rather than resolve amicably, the label is devising strategies to ensure that the Artiste remains unproductive.

“I’ve been very loyal to the contract, working hard to be heard, but I’ve been cheated by Chocolate City,” Brymo lamented.

If you missed out then catch up here on the Controversy between both parties

**************************************************************

CHOCOLATE CITY /JESSE JAGZ

The breakup Bug hit Chocolate city badly this year, starting with Jesse Jagz march 2013. He Left and formed his own Record Label , Jesse Jags Nation .Jesse Jagz, 28, was signed to the label along with his elder brother Jude ‘M.I’ Abaga in 2008.

Although it came as quite a shock to plenty of people close sources to Jesse Jagz and Chocolate City tell us war has been brewing between the ‘Wetin dey’ singer and the hip-hop label.
According to a reliable source, Jagz, ‘was fed up with the way the label was handling his career and decided to frustrate them in return.’

There were allegedly two major accusations the label made against ‘Jargo’; the first that he was financially indebted to them.
‘Choc City said Jargo owed them money, there were several cases where he would travel to the North for a gig and wouldn’t bring back anything to the label. At times, he would claim they paid him just to appear and that didn’t hold under his contractual agreement’.
The second was his sustained substance abuse. There are very strong claims that Jesse Jagz, a truly talented rapper and producer, is a Marijuana addict.
What do you think huh?

NYSC9 Dvice And Tips For Recently Passed Out Youth Corpers ,nysc Is Over What Next ? by lexiie(op): 7:42am On Oct 11, 2013
A big Congratulations again to the recently passed out Youth corper’s . 12 months of your life is over , for some they were worth with while others not so cool . At least you came , saw and conquered .Its time to put things behind and forge ahead. So lets face the real life now .

Welcome to the ever increasing job market in Nigeria. Now that Nysc is over what plans do you have for yourself ? do you actually have plans for your self ? No more prompt payment of 19,800 to your accounts every month. No more freebies , its time to wake up from your slumber and make things happen for yourself.

Your khaki wearing days are over, no more CDS or welfare meetings, no more PPA, no more PV (Payment Voucher) signing which translates to payment of allowance and you will definitely not answer anyone who calls you “corper” anymore. Yet again, Congratulations.

If you have no idea of what to do , let me show my love by sharing some tips and advice to help you have a head start in your real life now. The race has begun o , and don’t forget that only the swift wins .

ADVICE ONE
HAVE A WELL-WRITTEN OUT CV

Your Cv can either make you or mar you. It is what is used to address you without having to see you in person .
include those skills you possess (they might stand you out of the crowd) and more importantly, what you believe you can offer to solve the organization’s problems. Of course, if you are serious, you must have done your “due diligence” about your prospective employers. Do not include unnecessary details, they might work against you. There is actually no best way to write a résumé, learn to write a proper one. Cover letters are important too. Also, do not forget to address your CV to the manager of the company or organization addressing him or her by name. Is it possible to know such names? Of course it’s possible if you are willing to know. You could visit the company/organization’s website or ask an employee who works there already, if you can.

ADVICE TWO
HAVE A TEACHABLE SPIRIT
No matter what you have read in school, always be willing to learn new things and unlearn old ones. Companies will like the fact that you can quickly learn the job they need you to do. And do not be too proud and arogant . Just ahve a spirit to learn no matter how small. It goes a long way in life and also it might just be a stepping stone.

ADVICE THREE
WORK EXPERIENCE
Try as much as possible to have an experience in working somewhere . It might just be a short term job , voluntary job or even an unpaid job . As i would talk about later , its not all about the money . Most companies if not all always require work experience . So just do it if you have the opportunity . It would help you learn quickly, and gain work experience. You may not be paid for your work, but if you work very hard there’s a slight possibility that the company will retain you for your effort. If they don’t, another company in the same industry might be able to employ you.

ADVICE FOUR
CUT YOUR COAT ACCORDING TO YOUR SIZE
Live within your means ,Manage whatever money you have or you are paid. Don’t try and live the life of someone in Oil and Gas when that is not your current situation. If you live above your means, you will get in trouble. Fast money always lead to trouble and there’s always a consequence.

ADVICE FIVE
BE CURRENT AND UP TO DATE
Be up to date with current affairs: You don’t have to be a know-it-all amebo to everyone, but make sure you know what’s going on in your country and your business environment. You score major points for being up to date on the latest trends and regulations that affect your industry.

ADVICE SIX
MONEY IS NOT EVERY THING
It’s not always about money: Let’s face it, we can’t all work in Oil and Gas, and we won’t all be filthy rich. Weigh your options carefully before choosing one job over another or worse still quitting your job. There are lots of situations where people have been offered huge sums of money and the company owed them 3 months salary after 1 year or worse still it folded up. Are there other advantages to be gained asides from money? It’s for you to decide, but money isn’t everything.

ADVICE SEVEN
BE WILLING TO TRY OUT NEW THINGS

NYSCDo’s And Dont’s For Nysc Orientation Camp by lexiie(op): 9:11am On Oct 01, 2013
This 3 weeks of your life can make you or mar you . So as usual i would always drop advice and important information you need to survive that period .

Dos and Dont’s in camp .please read ,share and pass on to others . Do not forget to ask any question if you have .

dos

Do not laminate your call-up letter.

Haba , why would you do so?. The call up letter is not your property , its the property of the government . It a costly mistake to be made o . Because during registration at the camp , your call up letter would have to be stamped .

Do make a hair style that you can cope with

Ladies this is very important . Its just 3 weeks , so make a hairstyle that’ll last for that period . A style that wont consume your time when dressing because sometimes you might just have to run out for parade and you might look rough . I can say braids are ok. If you decide to fix weavon to camp you may be forced to do another hair in camp because of the season . Well during my own time i fixed short hair and it wasn’t bad at least i didn’t have to comb or style my hair every time.

MORE AFTER THE CUT—–

Dont be too anxious and in a hurry to wear your kit when given

If you report at camp on the first day , you will be issued your complete camp kit . Dont let it get to you and you quickly change into them because from that moment on parade is your next best friend. I was kind of a victim of such tho. The thing is from 3 pm , soldiers will blow bugle for parade so anyone seen kitted is then chased to parade.
My advice is that you just keep that kit till maybe the next day .As soon as u are issued your kit go and hide it under you box/bag. You can then successfully wear mufti for d 3 days duration of d registration. If the soldiers ask why you aren’t kitted tell them you’ve not been issued and they’ll leave you alone. Be wise !!!!

Do not for any reason loose your Face cap .

Your NYSC cap is a must anywhere you go to in camp ,mostly when heading to the parade ground. In some camps the commandants and officers take it very personal . Some girls might want to display their hair and all . Also the sun is definitely not your friend so just always be with your camp. Its an advice

Do not give any room for unnecessary harassment

This goes for to ladies. Most of you ladies might want to show yourself and God help you that one of those commanders or army officers pick you as their target . Keep your cool , respect yourself and obey them (that’s what they want at least) . Then if you are then harassed you can then take it up to the necessary authority .Except you want it .

NYSCFederal Government Reviews Nysc Posting Scheme by lexiie(op): 10:21am On Sep 28, 2013
Two years ago the Federal Government made a decision to posting all Corp members either to the education or farming sector of the country .This decision brought about a lot of wagging tongues. They accused the government of losing the original focus of the scheme which was for national integration and furtherance of what was learnt back in school.

I guess the peoples opinion has been listened to because it seems the Federal Government has decided to back track on its original decision and ensure that corps members obtain work experience relevant to their academic qualifications. So no more just schools and farms but now some corp members would be posted to organizations that is relevant to their course of study .

Graduates of medicine would therefore be posted to hospitals and health centers, law graduates would be posted to Ministries of Justice, law chambers and Legal-based NGOs, just like others would be posted to organisations where their academic qualifications would be deployed to use. Graduates of Education and single honors would be deployed to schools under the new policy.
The policy was adopted last year after the realisation that most organisations, especially in the private sector, take advantage of the scheme to keep their wage bill low as they do not make any effort to retain any corps members who served with them; rather they would throw them into the labour market and demand for fresh corps members.
The Chairman of the Board of the NYSC, Chief Gordon Bozimo, made this disclosure in an exclusive interview with THISDAY where he noted that the NYSC would not allow private sector organisations to take advantage of its Corp Members anymore.
This, he added, would be done through the demand and signing of an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with any private sector organisation that demands for corps members to retain a certain percentage of the corps members at the end of the service year.
“If an organisation writes us to send corps members to them, it means they have need for manpower; these are graduates, they are educated, they are not clerks, so if we are send 50 corps members, the organisation would sign an MoU to retain at least, let’s say 30 percent. That will also make the corps members know they have something at stake, they have to show good example and work hard,” he said.
This arrangement, he clarified does not, however, mean that such Corp Members at the end of their service year would not undergo the aptitude tests of the organisations if they have those as requirement for full employment. Bozimo added that it is counter-productive to send a doctor to teach in a school as a year of teaching cannot be considered as relatable work experience for such doctor.
“In some schools, you get more corps members than full time teachers, so we are hoping that by the next batch, we would send corps members to where their expertise would be appropriate,” he added.

Do you support this ? would this decision really be passed and made effective ? these are the questions arising ?

NYSC10 Important Things To Know Before Preparing For Nysc Orientation Camp by lexiie(op): 8:49am On Sep 28, 2013
Okay… Before you even start your preparation for orientation camp , you have to set your mind on what to expect , what to buy , things not to take and all but most importantly you need to know some important info about camp.
https://nnn.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/nysc_members.jpg

Orientation Camp is a once in a life opportunity . its a time you really meet different kind of individuals most especially for the butty children and those who went to private university. You will meet , live and learn from strangers. At the end of the day, our experiences might be different but having a fore-knowledge of what to expect will reduce your “camp-shock.”

For some this would be a 3 weeks to remember . Try to prepare well as much as you can for the 3 weeks of camp life:
NUMBER 1: HAVE ENOUGH CASH FOR SPENDING.
Yes o . everything in camp is about money . You pay to charge phones , pay to wash , some pay to eat (mammi). pay to even use clean toilets. So just try o and have enough cash. But having experienced being broke (you might not get an ATM to withdraw money), I’ll say please bring pocket money… But also learn to budget. Don’t spend extravagantly… Be very frugal in your spending. Don’t buy everything you see… Also don’t allow camp photographers take pictures of you randomly- of course unless it is part of your plan. Be kind to others but also ensure you are not careless with your spending.

NUMBER 2: THE TOILETS&BATHROOMS

These is another aspect to prepare for. Most camps if not all do not have good toilets and bathrooms. Some people have to bath outside , some in the bush and like i said in number 1 if you have money you could pay around to use a clean one . Just do not expect to see a good one . Some people have to wake up as early as 3 am to have their bath .

NUMBER 3: SECURITY
Security should be your watch word right from the first minute you step into camp till after you step out of camp. You don't know the kind of human beings you would mix up with. Just try as much as possible to have a kind of safe lock for your bags. Most importantly you don't have to show off or flaunt what you have then you are calling the petty thieves to come collect what they want. Note that nothing is too small to be stolen o!. Be very careful with your belongings… For example, don’t leave your phone or purse on your bed and turn away for a minute. Don’t get me wrong, the camp is pretty safe. But some cases of theft were reported in my hostel as well as others. There are no locks on hostel doors so everyone including non-corpers (e.g. women who hawk goods) have access to these hostels. So, ensure you up your skills in keeping your things safe.

NUMBER 4 :KITCHEN FOOD
I never ate camp food for once ,i only used my kitchen card to collect bread once. It all depends on you ,Some corpers are ‘allergic’ to eating from camp kitchen so they end up spending a huge part of their pocket-money in ‘Mami market.’ The government paid loads to ensure you have three square meal per day. Don’t miss the opportunity to use your meal ticket. Okay, they don’t cook the best meal. But trust me, it is not that bad. You can complement what the kitchen provide with fruits from Mammi market.

NUMBER 5 : BE SOCIAL
Make friends , no one is an island . Camp is an opportunity for you to make friends .Camp life is pretty stressful. Being around the right people or having the right people around you will help you stay sane. But don’t be too desperate about making friends that you land in the wrong company. Try to have fun… and relax. Don’t complain too much. Moaning and depressing murmurings will leave you exhausted. Avoid depressing conversations if possible.
NUMBER 6 : EXPECT THE WORST
Do not got to camp expecting everything to be as you planned or have been told. Things change . So the best advice i can give you is just to expect the worst.
NUMBER 7: MAMMY MARKET
Almighty Mammy market is the happening place in camp. It is the spot where things are sold on camp. And yes, things are very expensive there. The traders/retailers there blame the inflation in the market on camp officials. They say they were charged mercilessly for their rented space. So corpers bear the burden. To avoid being exploited in this market, try as much as you can to come with all the things you need . The traders know that you don't have any other choice than o buy it there. In mammy is where you have different canteens and restaurants and bars. Some corpers resume their early in the morning and close with them at night sef .lol. Its just the happening place in camp .There is no camp without mammy market.
NUMBER 8: RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES
In every camp there are various worship groups but the only recognized ones by the NYSC officials are the NCCF (National christian corpers fellowship) and MCAN (Muslim corpers association of Nigeria) . There are also Winners christian fellowship , Catholic fellowship , Believers world and even deeper life fellowship. Actually due to the various activities in camp one may even not attend there religious activities but that's no excuse o.There are also other activities competing for attention. Not to forget how tiring waking up early for all those activities can be. But try to maintain a healthy time for devotion. Attend the (NCCF), Catholic or Muslim fellowship where applicable… Don’t neglect your faith. Fellowship with brethren revitalizes.
NUMBER 9: BE ACTIVE
Do not just go to camp and warm he bench or beds ,participate in events and activities in your various platoons where possible. There game teams like football , volleyball etc. for both male and female. There are also other competitions like miss nysc, other beauty pageants, Mr macho , Mr nysc, drama presentations , talent hunts and much more . Try as much as you can to be active on camp… Volunteer to serve in the different groups- Nigeria red cross, OBS, man o’ war, etc. When in your platoon, also try as much as you can to participate in the group activities. All the team dynamics is part of the learning process. Active participation is not necessarily to get cheap recognition… Or massage your ego. It is just that there is no need to tiptoe through camp… You won’t have the experience twice. Some of the seminars are annoying or a time-waster but try as much as you can not to stay idle…listen up anyway. Maximize all learning avenues. ( I was not ultra-active but I did try to at least participate in some activities).

NUMBER 10: FINALLY
,
Congratulations on reading all the tips i have written above. I hope you've gained something . Well finally just go to camp open-minded to camp , I’ll advise that you take your time to actually allow yourself experience the uniqueness of the place you are posted to and the people you’ll meet as well. Try not to judge everyone and everything at first contact.

No amount of experience-sharing can replace your own unique experience while on camp. So don’t box yourself in. Go to orientation camp and rock the phase!! DON’T FORGET TO READ THE HAND-BOOKS YOU’LL BE GIVEN DURING REGISTRATION. As irrelevant as the small booklets might look, reading them will save you a lot of headache ;-) .

Bonus: Learn from the challenges you’ll face. Embrace camp life wBonus: Learn from the challenges you’ll face. Embrace camp life with a thankful heart. Stay positive even when it seems you have no reason to.

Glad you are ready so read the following for more info and help.

Travel15 New State Road Traffic And Road Usage Laws In Lagos State by lexiie(op): 6:17am On Aug 18, 2013
Since the tenure of the current Governor of Lagos state , Babatunde Raji Fashola, new rules have emerged on traffic and road usage. Can we say its for good or bad ? well definitely these new laws cant favor everyone at the same time . Though deterrence and the need to sanitize Lagos prompted the law, many believe that the traffic laws are made for the poor and helpless, as the rich can easily pay the stipulated fines and walk away free.

Do you think these laws are avenues for law enforcement agencies to enrich themselves(police ,LASTMA ,VIO ,KAI) ?

Lagos state roads have claimed the lives of so many innocent commuters in the past years . Some of the reason can be blamed on the craziness of Lagos state as a whole . The hustling and bustling seems never to cease.Sadly the human factor contributes to 80% of the crashes. In 2008 , Lagos was declared the most dangerous city in the world in terms of accidents.
Seal of Lagos

Seal of Lagos (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Some New State Road Traffic Laws

1.Restriction of trailer movement . Trailers have been restricted from moving within the hours of 6. am and 9. pm

2. Ban on commercial motorbikes (okada) on bridges, even as their activities are now prohibited on 443 routes in the state.

3. Smoking, using the phone, eating and other acts considered dangerous while driving are now offences in Lagos.

4. One-way driving which is driving against traffic now attracts a three-year jail term, while a first offender gets a one-year term and the vehicle forfeited to the state government.

5. Bullion vans are not exempted from the law as any bullion van that is driven in a direction prohibited by the road traffic law will be forfeited

6. The law also prohibits underage persons from riding a motorcycle, as it attracts a fine of 20,000.

7. Operators of a motorcycle in a restricted area or prohibited route will be fined N 20, 000 or the motorcycle impounded.

8. Section 1 and 3 of the Traffic Law prohibits any person from riding, driving or manually propelling a cart, wheel barrow, motorcycle and tricycle on a total of 11 highways, 41 bridges and 496 routes, which are all stated under the Schedule II of the new traffic law. As contained in the schedule, these categories of vehicles are restricted from plying any route in Eti-Osa Local Government Area, covering Victoria Island, Lagos Island as well as Ikoyi.

9. Use of sirens and sounding of horns or other similar appliances either in general or at specified times are now prohibited

10. Under subsection 4, commercial motorcycle riders are expected not to carry more than one passenger at a time.

11. It also states that a pregnant woman, a child below 12 and an adult with a baby or heavy load placed on her head or which can obstruct normal sitting shall not be carried as a passenger.

12. Schedule II, section (4) of the law lists prohibited routes for motorcycles and tricycles. The prohibited highways include Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonshoki Expressway, Lagos-Ikorodu Expressway, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway and Babangida Boulevard Way. Others include Eti-Osa Lekki-Epe Expressway, Funsho Williams Avenue, Agege Motor Road and Eti-Osa-Lekki Coastal Road.

13. Section 36 (3) of the law states that in sentencing a person convicted of committing an offence, the court may, in addition to the prescribed sentence, direct suspension or revocation of the driver’s licence and direct the person convicted to render community service.

14. Subsection 2 and 4 outright gives power to LASTMA officers to arrest where appropriate and allow alleged offenders to be fined the stipulated amount for the offences committed, and prosecute any persons reasonably suspected of having committed any offences under the provisions of the law. However, the power to prosecute by LASTMA is subject to the provisions of the Section 211 of the 1999 Constitution.

15. Also, under the same section, the court can direct a convicted person to attend courses at the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI) for seven days at his cost. The person might also be sentenced to both community service and enrollment in the drivers’ institute.

SOME PENALTIES ,FINES AND PUNISHMENTS

Owners of abandoned vehicles on highway will be fined N50, 000 or three years imprisonment, or both. .
Also, according to the new traffic law, smoking while driving attracts N20, 000,
failure to give way to traffic on the left at a roundabout is N20, 000.
Disobeying traffic control will attract N20,000,
violation of route by commercial vehicles will attract N20,000
riding on a motorcycle without crash helmets for both rider and passenger will attract N20,000 or three years imprisonment, or both.
Anyone driving without a valid driving licence will have the vehicle impounded.
A learner without a permit will attract a fine of N20, 000,
driving with a fake number plate will attract N20, 000 fine for a first offender, and six-month imprisonment or both for subsequent infractions, among several other offences.

A traffic radio has been put in place (i can testify to that because it has helped in various times) to help and provide necessary information on different routes within the state so as for citizens to plan their routes well.

http://evatese./2013/08/17/15-new-state-road-traffic-and-road-usage-laws-in-lagos-state/

Well Between January and July, 2012, there were 722 reported cases of accidents on okada at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). Out of this number, 568 were males and 154 were females. Do you think okada causes traffic gridlock and increased the state of insecurity in the state. ? should they be brought back ?

Speaking on the expediency of the new traffic law, the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola explained that it was all about the safety and benefit of Lagos residents, insisting that it was not meant to imprison anybody. “It is not meant to send anybody to jail,” said Fashola. “A jail sentence will be an extreme case, especially when the presiding magistrate has identified an offender to be hardened or such an offender has been committing a particular offence over and over again. “Unlike the provision of the old traffic law, the new law has made provisions not only for payment of fines, but for convicted offenders to engage in community service such as directing traffic for a specified period among others.

So whats your opinion ?

EducationASUU Strike : Holiday Or Torture +questions Unanswered by lexiie(op): 2:39pm On Jul 04, 2013

The strike bug has hit Nigerian Public Universities again. This time around its an indefinite strike. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) On Monday July 1st commenced an indefinite nationwide strike. The reason for this action was because ’The Federal Government reneged in the Memorandum of Understanding MoU signed with ASUU in 2009 to pay lecturers their earn allowance.’ as said by ASUU national president Dr Nasir Isa Fagge.

The Federal Government, in 2009, promised to pay lecturers N12,500 per month as earn allowance but never did. The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, are also on strike for the past 2 months .

Striking is an action which is synonymous with the Nigerian Government as It seems that the only language of force that government in Nigeria understands is language of strike . If the unions don’t strike then they don’t respond. How sad . Just recently , the NUT, National Union of Teachers just called off their strike which lasted for 3 weeks in some states of the federation. Is this the beginning of a long holiday or beginning of sadness and torture ?

Unfortunately , exams were supposed to commence by the first week of august , but with the way things are going it definitely would be postponed to only God knows when. The sad part is that many students who had the hope of rounding up this semester would have to wait , may dreams crushed because they don’t even know how long this strike would last . Even examination for the semester would be postponed.

Also, the National Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN), urged the Federal Government to accede to the demands of the striking university lecturers.

What the government fails to understand is that this strike which is an indefinite one could bring to rise of many social ills and evils. As it is being said “An idle mind is the devils workshop” . By the time our university undergraduates stay out of school doing nothing , then different things begin to rise . It leads to more armed robbery attacks , more terrible things in the society. Must there be strike ?

The question is why is the government always doing this always ? why should they promise and fail ? Is ASUU wrong for what they are doing ? are they greedy and not considering the effect the strike has on the students? Will the government comply or neglect ? . The government should reason this action out and weigh its positive and negative sides and effects toward its people. These lecturers should be given their rights because they help to raise and build leaders.

ASUU should be protecting the students interest rather than frustrating their academic programs.Should there be a revolution, it should be through peaceful dialogue rather than indefinite strike actions. But the truth is that its only the language of strike the government understands.
THINGS ASUU SHOULD CAMPAIGN FOR

At least for the strike not to be in vain ,instead of their own selfish interests for salary increase, fulfillment of governments allowance pledges, extention of professors retirement age,and possibly, in the nearest future, they may be demanding for post-humus pension plan for the family members they left behind. they should ask for the following.

agitating and canvassing for good lecture rooms

surveillance in our universities that will curb cultism and campus terrorism to the smallest

round the clock internet facilities

updated libraries and research centers in our universities

Creation of employment opportunities for our graduate youths

Subsidized tuition and school fees so as to make education a right to all citizens

highly equipped laboratories for experiments and analysis for our student scientists

rather than their present day self-centered clamor

Please on behalf of the students and the striking lecturers i appeal to the government and ASUU to come to a mutual agreement as soon as possible and let academic activities continue for the year make things right so that the negative effects of this indefinite strike would be averted as soon as possible. The government should please intervene in this matter o !. it is unfortunate to have this same issue recurring too often.

So who do we blame ? the government or the union?

RomanceGuys And Lies :relationship Friday by lexiie(op): 8:47pm On Jun 28, 2013
Guys and lies are synonymous with each other , its like bread and butter an inseparable pair.

Today on EB , we would be looking into Guys and Lies. Most ladies can attest to this fact that lying has become a part of them. Why do guys lie ? is it in their nature? well all these question would be answered here.

Lying is a term known to be mostly associated with Guys. Though everybody both Guys and Ladies lie at some time . For example ladies tend to lie about how much they spent shopping , how good their partners are etc. we are looking at this from the relationship context. Sometimes i ask myself ,Do men lie because they are selfish, egotistical, callous and self seeking? Do men lie because they are not in touch with their emotions and are not as liable for their lies as the women who fall for them? What do you think?

We often hear ladies say words like “men are liars” “hes a lying bag”etc. You should have in mind that Guys are accustomed to the lying pattern. They even lie to other men , so it feels and seems natural to lie to ladies.Men lie to their co-workers; they get together in bars to drink and to lie to each other about their role in “the war,” about their income, the amount of their debt, what their car will do, etc.

Some experts say that men lie more often than women , the lies men tell out number women’s lies, on average men lie six times a day more than women. When you see some men lying you begin to wonder if they were born with the gift of lying. some lie for a living, some are so talented that when they tell some lies you would question yourself if you sure about what you are saying.

The question ladies should ask themselves is why they keep on falling for the same lie every time ? These guys lie about their emotions , what they have and so on . The truth is that the way guys are fashioned is different from ladies. They always try to protect their ego and maintain that pride of being a MAN.

The lies guys tell is to just to make themselves feel good. yeah selfish! Even when caught they deny it to the last. Their lies comes in various shapes , colors and sizes and hell yeah they always brag about their inner size to their mates(you know what i am talking about) Size seems to matter more to men than it does to most women.

Men don’t seem to think it’s a lie if it’s for a good cause: to avoid hurting someone’s feelings, for example (especially their own), or to get sex (they believe they’re entitled), or to get out of sex.

If you have been lied to by every man you have ever met, every man you ever cared about and every man you ever loved, had the man you adore look you in the eyes and lie to you, then you are not alone. You are among the millions of women who don’t understand why men lie. Why do men lie about what they feel, what they think about you, what they desire? Why cant he just tell you the truth? If wondering why men lie has driven you crazy, kept you up at night and even driven you to tears then you deserve some answers…

So Why Do Men Lie So Much?
Have you often asked yourself.why do men lie so much? I’m sure like 90% of the female populations answer is YES, too many times.we all hate being lied to. Most ladies dont want to hear the truth , yet they complain that men are liars.

The only time we want to be lied to is when we ask…does my bum look big in this! Unfortunately it seems to me a trait of the male species, they can’t help lying. Sometimes they lie about the most stupid pointless things and leave us wondering why men lie about these things. Sometimes they are rubbish liars and ladies can spot a lie a mile away. Other times however the man can weave a deep web of deceit and lies and we don’t even realize it.

lies make it easier for them to live in their “perfect world” that they all want so badly. men are lies.

But here’s the reality: men are not the “natural liars.” Rather, women lie to themselves. The number one reason why men frequently and repeatedly lie to women is to help these women maintain their delusional fantasies of the “ideal man.”

HealthHow Heart Break Leads To Untimely Death by lexiie(op): 2:10am On Jun 23, 2013
Hey EB readers , it has come to my notice that heartbreak leads to untimely death o!.To all the ladies and guys who cause this effect you can as well be termed as a murderer .lol. Anyways , due to scientific research form germans it is said that emotional trauma can trigger a potentially lethal catastrophe in the body called THE BROKEN HEART SYNDROME.
It has long been claimed that people have died from a broken heart.
This is similar to a stroke or a massive coronary, broken heart syndrome causes the body to pour out adrenaline and other stress hormones.

This narrows the coronary arteries and impairs blood circulation. It also stuns the bottom half of the main pumping chamber of the heart, forcing the top portion to work much harder to compensate.
The lack of oxygenated blood reaching the rest of the body — and indeed the heart — causes breathlessness, pain and a loss of consciousness.

The patient can die as a result of cardiac arrest, causing the brain and body to be starved of oxygen.
Victims struggle to breathe, feel weak and have pains in the chest which are typical heart attack symptoms.
Doctors have long known the stress of a bereavement can trigger heart problems — studies have shown the risk of heart attack rises ten-fold in the 48 hours following the death of a loved one.
It’s previously been assumed that the patient already has an unhealthy heart as a result of bad diet or clogged arteries.
But scientists now say that a bereavement can trigger a specific type of heart attack very different from these ‘unhealthy’ heart attacks.

All this just due to heart break. So I am begging o all ye players , maga collectors , and heart breakers please desit from this act o.

SportsFrom A Bloggers Perspective : Afcon 2013 Finals +super Eagles Are Back by lexiie(op): 11:45pm On Jun 22, 2013
After 19 years , number 19 jersey Sunday Mba and the super eagles finally brought our lost Glory back to our country and made us the giant of Africa once again as they defeated smoothly the players of Burkina faso in the just concluded african cup of nations 2013. 10th of february 2013 is not going to be a day to be forgotten so soon.

I've never seen a country so patriotic as Nigeria on sunday. Some people closed their shops , some Bus drivers parked their buses , roads were empty as people made way home or to where they would watch the match live. Some even bought fuel with their last cash to conquer the fear of PHCN.

As for me , I had to leave my friends and whatever I was doing when it was 7pm and headed for home. In fact I left my mom to do the cooking and she didn't even bother me because she could see the enthusiasm within me.

Even on twitter , everyone was hating bAnce and his crew. Lol
When it was some minuteS to the end of the match in which there was An Extra 4 minutes given. My heart skipped , infact I stopped eating ,was so restless. I couldn't imagine it was me. I started counting down when it was just 60seconds to go. Those were very time defining moments because Bance and his crew tried their stunts. Finally the whistle was blown and I shouted at the top of my voice. My mum had to rush to where I was. It felt so Good. My estate was filled with shouts and screams of joy , even old women were dancing. . I ran round my sitting room , screaming my dad was just looking at me. Only if he knew
My favorite part was when the Goalkeeper ,Enyeama almost carried the referee out of excitement. Even the Burkina faso players were crying. Lol
It was jubilation gAlore everywhere. Thank God. We are the champions of Africa.
Not to forget Dbanjs electrifying performance at the end.
The Senate President praised the Super Eagles for the team spirit displayed throughout the competition and implored all Nigerians to emulate the team spirit that brought the victory.
You deserve our honour and praise. The Federal government and indeed all Nigerians are indebted to you. You have restored our dignity and pride. You deserve our honour and reward”, Senator Mark stated.

Senator Mark particularly praised the Head coach of the Super Eagles and his coaching crew for a Job well done pointing out that Keshi is a child of history and destiny.

He Said: ” As a player and captain of the Super Eagles in 1994, Nigeria won the nations cup. As a coach of the Super Eagles in 2013, he brought honour to our dear country. Keshi has proved to be a great asset to the nation. The nation is proud of you”.

Not to forget our president , Goodluck Jonathan who couldn't attend due to some health issues and his wife were not left. It was jubilation in Aso Rock.

Lesson Learnt : Never underestimate anyone , Never right off anyone because that person is a work in progress.
Fashion10 Fashion Turn-offs For Guys by lexiie(op): 8:53pm On Jun 22, 2013
Hello EB readers , Happy Saturday and happy weekend to them workers. Today's post is for male species tho , the bad guys, geeks , hunks, players and anything male . i have come to realize that there are things guys do to push women off that they might be wondering why we ladies do not find them attractive. as it is said thwe way you dress is teh way you are addressed. so i have decided to help guys most especially my devoted fans and family on EB .

Below are just 10 things or lets call them turn-offs that guys do without even knowing .
FOR FULL POST VISIT :http://evatese./2012/09/22/10-fashion-turn-offs-for-guys/

1 . Wearing white socks with dress shoes : This one is really a NO=NO . teaming this combination is terrible well it was in the old fashion trending but now it s over . That was so fashion in the 90s.the correct way is that dress shoes should and must only be worn with dress socks, in dark shades/colours like black , brown and gray. The white sock should only be for the athletic arena with athletic shoes and track pants

2. Incorrect buttoned blazers Seriously why should you do this to yourself ? now its not just about mismatching the positioning of the buttons but also fastening the wrong number of buttons on your blazer can cause it to stretch and pull in weird directions which makes the blazer seem so ill fitted. now the advice is :With a two-button suit, fasten the top button and with a three-button suit, you have a choice between fastening the top two buttons or the middle one only. And no matter what kind of blazer you're wearing, always unbutton it when you sit down.

Stuffing your pockets Are you trying to make your backside fatter or what ? your pockets are meant for the hands only o and sometimes to keep change . Some guys keep handfull of cash,two-month-old receipts, your cell phone, three sets of keys, and a stash of business cards. To avoid being a turn-off and unnecessarily stretching your pants , its time to get a bag or you could have a blazer with inner pockets in which you can then distribute your daily necessities and still maintain that sleek appearance ........CONTINUE READING 10 FASHION TURN-OFFS FOR GUYS
http://evatese./2012/09/22/10-fashion-turn-offs-for-guys/

Wearing oversized clothings : To me this one of the greatest downfalls of male fashion in general. i dont think i would love to or be comfortable when i see such guys. you should put on clothes that make you look good instead of repelling we ladies.

Mismatching suit and shoes This pair is not a negotiation. it is sure a blunder to do this. most guys select or purchase shoes in shades that do not complement their dresses. well to avoid this :pair black suits with black shoes; gray suits with black or camel shoes; brown suits with brown or camel shoes; and navy suits with black, camel, tan or oxblood-colored footwear.

Backpacking on professional look Being a student , yes , this is allowed because you will need to have wit you some 10 pounds of books each day . When those days are over and you are in the job market ,you just have to drop that and complement your look with either a leather messenger bag or a briefcase and preserve your backpack for camping.lol .you emptied those overstuffed

jacket/trouser pockets and put your personal belongings into a chic man bag. Yes a man bag! The once questionable tote is now If you ask me , it makes most people look geeky tho. Bulging pockets are so 80’s. Your pockets are a place to put your hands, some spare change and perhaps a cell phone or slim wallet. They are not a place to keep a bulky wallet filled with old receipts and business cards, keys, or twenty+ dollars worth of change.

Wearing running shoes outside the gym Generally speaking, activewear should not be day wear. This rule holds true especially when it comes to wearing running shoes in any environment that's not fitness-oriented. Even if they have no obvious scuff marks, the fact that you wear your runners at the gym during heavy sweat sessions makes it nasty to even consider donning them on any other occasion. For a just-as-comfortable alternative without the "ick" factor, pick up a pair of sneakers or slip-on loafers to pair with your casual ensembles.

http://evatese./2012/09/11/should-you-stay-friends-with-ex/

Hello EB readers , This post is for those who are always confused about if they should remain friends or not .

After a breakup, some couples prefer to part ways completely and never speak again. It can be too painful to be constantly reminded that your relationship didn't work out. Not to mention, not all breakups are amicable, and it's difficult to stay friendly with someone you feel did you wrong. Other couples however, do try to to remain in each others lives as friends, but it isn't always easy. How can you tell if you should stay friends after a break up?

You still like each other.

It's entirely possible to still like your ex, even if you don't love them anymore. If the breakup was mutual or you left on good terms, a friendship might be in the cards. You still enjoy each other as individuals, even if a romantic relationship couldn't last. Maybe you have common interests that brought you together in the first place, or perhaps you just have a great time hanging out together no matter what your relationship status.

You aren't emotionally invested anymore.

Breakups, especially the heartbreaking kinds, take a long time to get over. You might have moved on physically from your ex, but your emotions might be well behind you. When you try to be friends with someone you still have feelings for, you put yourself at risk to get hurt further. You might be able to convince yourself that you can hide your feelings, but imagine how you would feel if your ex talked to you about the new person he's dating-it would be devastating! Another issue with trying to be friends too soon is that you might mislead their friendship for more. You might convince yourself that their friendly invite to get coffee is a date, or you might be using the friendship as a way to hold on to a love that you aren't ready to let go of.

You've had time without them.

One of the common mistakes couples make is trying to ease their pain and jump into a friendship right away. Instead of being boyfriend and girlfriend, they will be BFF's, and it won't hurt as much. This seems like a great idea, but in reality it's just their way of prolonging the breakup. Even a week apart will give you the clarity to know if you should remain friends or if it's better to move on without them in your life. Remember that these decisions don't have to be all or nothing-you might decide that now isn't a good time to be friends, but your paths might cross in a year or two and things could be different. Time is the best healer in these situations, and if you keep an open mind and heart, you will make the right decisions for yourself.

FashionFashion Trend :prints -do's And Dont's by lexiie(op): 8:26pm On Jun 22, 2013
http://evatese./2012/08/28/fashion-trend-prints-dos-and-donts/
So here’s a quick list of simple Do’s and Don't to avoid a mixing mess when trying to communicate your stylish statement. here they are

Dos
1. combine with neutral colous like white, black , brown or even grey so as to avoid looking as a clown

2.lighten up your accessories with a simple gold or silver

3. for a fitting print trouser "especially stretching material" a cool long top or blazer would do the magic

4. not sure if you want to invest in prints because you may get tired , a print bag or shoe would do

5. ensure you mix prints within same colour family

6. Choosing to mix patterns and prints that are complementary in colour will make each item appear brighter when worn together.

7.pairing items that are complementary in colour: blue and orange, yellow and violet and red and green.

8. Don’t forget about the material. You may have the ultimate print combo in cotton, linen or chiffon, but looking great and staying warm can go hand in hand for the cooler months ahead.

9. Do add a pop/spice it up. Incorporating one non-matching colour into the mix can be a stylish way to break up an otherwise neutral look. For example, a black and white outfit is made complete with a red belt or neon yellow shoe.

10. Do keep things from getting out of control by sticking to simple accessories. Bold patterns need subdued side pieces so as not to overpower the look altogether.

11. Do stick with a neutral palette. Hypnotic floral patterns mixed with multicolour polka dots are best left for Halloween. Instead, opt for a colour scheme that’s more sedate and versatile; try bold black and white.

Dont's
1. Do not combine different prints together like print top and trouser except its a dress or a jumpsuit. you are not selling flowers or animal skin

2. Do not wear a print shoe with a print dress, try a Neutral plain shoe or sandals.

3. Never combine check and strips with prints......that is disastrous

4. Heavy accessories doesn't do it.

5.Do not wear a print from head to toe because you would be single handedly murdering fashion

6.less is more with prints — if your outfit resembles as though you’re applying for circus school, chances are the public will think so too.

Nigeria cricket team to train in UK:

Nigeria’s male cricket team will go on a training tour of the UK
between July 6 and July 18, the country’s cricket federation (NCF)
said. The federation’s media co-ordinator, Kayode Adeniyi, said that
the tour would be ahead of the team’s participation at the World
Cricket League Six Tournament in Jersey, UK.
He said the team had already commenced preparations for the training
tour and participation in the tournament by camping in Abuja and
playing some practice matches.
“The national senior cricket team arrived in Abuja from Port Harcourt
on Friday evening, and will be there for four weeks, camping ahead of
the tournament in Jersey, UK,” Adeniyi said.
The NCF board member said the camp of 14 home-based players and
officials began training at the cricket playing ground of the Abuja
National Stadium’s Package B.
The federation spokesman said the team also, as part of its
preparations, played a warm-up match against the Asian Eleven at the
Abuja National Stadium on Sunday morning.
The tournament is to hold from July 21 to July 28, with Argentina,
Bahrain, Kuwait and Vanuotu grouped alongside Nigeria.
The camping programme and other listed activities would be the senior
national team’s first assignment since the inauguration of the
federation’s new board led by Emeka Onyeama.

SPORTS MINISTER WANTED ME TO PART WITH MONEY - BASH ALI

The last has not been ahead of the ongoing feud, between veteran Nigerian
boxer,Bash Ali and the Minister of Sports,Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.

Ali alleged that the Sports Minister is trying to thwart his efforts of
attaining an unprecedented record of being the World’s oldest fighter, which
was inaugurated by the National Sports Commission in 2006,to promote sports
development in Nigeria.

Last week, Ali was humiliated by the minister’s security aides after he
confronted him, pushing to gain his audience on the proposed fight.

Ali further added that he became an enemy of the Sports minister, after he
refused to enter an agreement to part with some percentage of the money
from the boxing project.

“On Monday, December 6, 2012, I had a private meeting with the
Minister/Chairman of NSC and he told me that he was not happy that I told
Mr. President that most of the people working with him are bad and
unpatriotic,” he said at a Press conference.

“He then went on to tell me that for the project to hold, I have to give up
part of the money to placate the people I have offended. But I told him
that such won’t happen, it was then he said I was joking; that was how we
became enemies.”

“May 29, 2007 till date, I have been struggling with corrupt government
officials at the National Sports Council, NSC, to keep my dream alive,
which attracted the attention of one of the most respected newspapers in
the world, including New York Times. In February 2010, I wrote a letter to
President Goodluck Jonathan to complain about the corrupt government
officers at the NSC.

But the Sports ministry on their part, said that Bash Ali is deluded, and
that he only made up these allegations.

“Bash Ali is emotionally unstable and all what he said are figments of his
imagination. If he has money, why is he asking government to fund the
fight? Is it Government’s responsibility to fund professional boxing and
wrestling?” the Minister’s Special Assistant (Media), Mr. Julius Ogunro,
told The PUNCH.

“As I speak with you now, a letter has been written to the Chief of Staff
to the President asking that a committee should be set up to look into what
he claims to be organising. Bash Ali doesn’t know this plan but is
insulting everybody.”

“There was no encounter where the Minister requested money from him. The
security men didn’t beat him; he embarrassed the President, breached
protocols and later came to the Ministry of Sports requesting to see the
Minister without booking for an appointment.”

“They allowed to come to where the Minister was having a meeting with
important dignitaries and afterwards started insulting the Minister and
even wanted to punch him.”

It is to difficult to know who to believe in this saga!

BASKETBALL

The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has released a list of fifteen
players for the 2013 edition of the FIBA Stankovic Cup billed for June 26
through July 10 in China.

The fifteen players according to a release by the secretariat of the
Nigeria basketball body is made up of ten foreign-based and the five
home-based selected recently in the first camping exercise held in Abuja.

The NBBF gave the players names as team captain Olumide Oyedeji co-captain
Ike Diogu, Ben Uzoh, Richard Oruche, Stan Okoye, Abubakar Usman, Michael
Ohiero, Stanley Gumut, Abdulwahab Yahaya, Solomon Alabi, Deji Egbeyemi,
Nkem Ojougboh, Kingsley Oguchi, Ehimen Orukpe amd Kelechi Anuna.

We want to use the Stankovic Cup to set the tune ahead the 27th Afrobasket
and we can conveniently say here that winning the Afrobasket is our
ultimate as more players whom we have left out of this invitational
tournament will join the team soon.

The Stankovic Cup which will hold in two Chinese cities of Lanzhou and
Guangzhou will afford our players especially the home-based the opportunity
to be exposed to modern facilities which the team will use for training
before to the United States of America.

Some players who are committed to the national team for the Afrobasket have
been allowed to team up with the team in July after the Stankovic Cup to
enable them sort out contractual issues and try outs with NBA teams during
the period opined NBBF Head of Media, Patrick Omorodion.

The FIBA Stankovic Continental Champions Cup is an international basketball
tournament for mens national teams organized annually by basketball world
governing body, FIBA. The idea for the tournament came from President of
FIBA, Carl Men Ky Ching, and the purpose of the cup was to honour FIBA
Secretary General Emeritus, Serbian Borislav Stankovic, for his significant
contribution to basketball.

Other nations expected to feature in the tournament include Argentina,
Australia, China, Germany, and Serbia.

Africa has been represented in past tournaments by Angola and Tunisia with
Angola joining Slovenia as the only two teams that had won the tournament
twice since its inception in 2005.

Tunisia finished third at the 2012 edition, while Angola has featured six
times in the championship, with the Southern Africa nation winning it in
2008 and 2011. Slovenia won it in 2007 and 2010.
