Thanks Gazzuz

How does one test engine compression?

GAZZUZZ:

Vehicle cannot be diagnosed properly remotely.

From your description engine lacks compression but my statement might be incorrect.

Happy Sunday Gazzuz

I brought in a 2006 Honda Pilot AWD (J35a9 engine) from the US

The car was cleared last week but it has refused to start.
It cranks and cranks but just doesn't start.

Noticed yesterday that the plugs get wet with fuel, changed the brain box but still didn't start (the plugs were still wet with fuel even with 2 brain boxes installed)

Tested the spark plugs for spark and it was orange/red spark, instead of blue or white so we changed the plugs but it still didn't start.

Changed the nozzles and then exchanged the main relay with the one beside it. Car then started and died when I depressed the accelerator.

Since then, car hasn't started again, just keeps cranking.

Scanned the car, no error codes

Brought the car in for my mother-in-law, please assist, with possible fixes, before they take my wife back from me.

Thanks, as always

Has the car been scanned?

That, I believe, should be the first thing to do...

kingbusy:
infact the issue on your car is exactly the same thing I experience as I write. I have changed the fuel pump and all the plugs still the issue is not yet resolved. After the mechanic had tried all he could he said I should disable the security but I'm not comfortable doing that. That symptoms to me look more of mechanical ........ cry cry cry

Good morning Gazzuz

Thank you.

I'll look into the issues suggested.

GAZZUZZ:

possible issues.

1. Sludge.

2. Incorrect timing settings

3. Possible vvti actuator faulty or not set properly

4. Reconnect the knock sensor (this shows some Hanley panky has been going on in the supposedly toks vehicle)

Thought I mentioned the car initially

It's a 2003 Toyota Corolla Corolla 1zz-fe

See pics below

Thanks

GAZZUZZ:

Help me help you, what kind of car is it? Take clear pics of the engine showing the timing chain/timing belt area.

Also take pics of the valve cover.

No. Car didn’t overheat

It’s a tokunbo car bought in March or so. Only servicing, I think I’ve changed the coils also

Good evening Gazzuz

Please, I’m back again o grin

My 2003 Toyota Corolla threw up 2 error codes

P0325 knock sensor 1 circuit bank 1 or single sensor

P1349 variable valve timing system fault

Please assist with possible fix(es)

Thanks as always
Autos / Re: ASK GAZZUZZ by lexini: 1:32pm On Oct 20, 2019
Will do just that.

Thank a lot

GAZZUZZ:

transmission oil leaks can only come from 2 places on that transmission.

C.V axle seals, and torque converter seal.

Check for leaks and fix if any.

Drain transmission oil and refill with fresh Toyota type IV after fixing leaks if any.

If code remains ignore it.

Good evening Gazzuz

Happy weekend Sir

My 2006 Toyota Corolla threw up a P0741 error code - torque converter clutch circuit performance/stuck off

I researched the code and noticed low gear oil can trigger it.

I gauged the gear oil and saw it was low, do I just top it up or completely drain the current oil and refill?

And do I also need to change the filter?

Thanks for your continued support
Autos / Re: ASK GAZZUZZ by lexini: 1:09pm On Oct 18, 2019
Good afternoon Gazzuz

I've changed it now.

Codes' cleared. Performance is back to top form.

Thanks a lot Gazzuz!!

Take a picture of the position of the oxygen sensor you have be en replacing

Good evening Gazzuz

Trust you're good

Please, I took your advice and changed the oxygen sensor with an old one I had pending when I'd change it completely.

Over the past week, I've put 4 oxygen sensors - after driving for like 10mins, the codes come back and the car begins to misfire again.

Got one today from your referral, same thing

I even changed the spark plugs today.

See codes again

P2196 sensor signal biased/stuck rich bank 1 sensor 1

P0300 random/multiple misfire detected

P0301 cylinder 1 misfire detected

P0303 cylinder 3 misfire detected

P0305 cylinder 5 misfire detected

P0172 System too rich bank 1

Please advise...

Thanks

GAZZUZZ:

well for starters it is a V configuration engine.

You have very faulty precatalytic O2 sensor on bank 1 (1 sensor 1) reporting to the ecu.

The ecu is interpreting the information and enriching the combustion system causing misfires.

Replace the oxygen sensor and clean the spark plugs. Car will be fine

Autos / Re: ASK GAZZUZZ by lexini: 3:35pm On Oct 12, 2019
It does

Good afternoon Gazzuz

Thanks once again

My friend uses a 2011 Nissan juke. His complaint is the car goes off when he slows down (with the ac on).
The car also does hardstarting, especially when the engine is cold.
I scanned the car and got the following codes:

P0078 exhaust valve control solenoid circuit bank 1
P0075 intake valve control solenoid circuit bank 1
P0045 turbocharger supercharger boost control solenoid A circuit/open

Pending codes
P0098 intake air temperature sensor 2 circuit high
P0031 h20s heater control circuit low bank 1 sensor 1

These issues started after the car overheated and the top gasket was changed

Please assist

2003 Toyota highlander awd v6

Can I use it till weekend before fixing?

oluwaseunla:
Which car is this? Something seems to be happening at the bank 1 of your engine, and all three cylinders of that bank are misfiring. The smell is likely the fact that the car is running rich. Cases like this may not be easily diagnosed remotely. Check in to a workshop.

Good evening gurus

Please help me out here:

2003 Toyota highlander awd v6

I travelled and my wife has been driving my car for the past week, just got back home and as I started the car, it didn't sound right so I scanned it and got the following codes:

P2196 sensor signal biased/stuck rich bank 1 sensor 1

P0300 random/multiple misfire detected

P0301 cylinder 1 misfire detected

P0303 cylinder 3 misfire detected

P0305 cylinder 5 misfire detected

P0172 System too rich bank 1

P0174 system too lean bank 2

Please advise on the meaning of each code and possible fixes.

Also, there was a smell as if something is burning - I started the car soon as soon as my wife returned with it so engine was still hot.

Good morning gurus,

The scariest thing happened just now

My mum entered her car and the car just started by itself - the key was still in her hand (car doesn't have remote).

It is a 2004 Toyota sienna xle, she got it last month tokunbo. she's freaking out now.

What is the likely reason for this?
