Please, I took your advice and changed the oxygen sensor with an old one I had pending when I'd change it completely.

Over the past week, I've put 4 oxygen sensors - after driving for like 10mins, the codes come back and the car begins to misfire again.

Got one today from your referral, same thing

I even changed the spark plugs today.

See codes again

P2196 sensor signal biased/stuck rich bank 1 sensor 1

P0300 random/multiple misfire detected

P0301 cylinder 1 misfire detected

P0303 cylinder 3 misfire detected

P0305 cylinder 5 misfire detected

P0172 System too rich bank 1

Please advise...

well for starters it is a V configuration engine.

You have very faulty precatalytic O2 sensor on bank 1 (1 sensor 1) reporting to the ecu.

The ecu is interpreting the information and enriching the combustion system causing misfires.

Replace the oxygen sensor and clean the spark plugs. Car will be fine

My friend uses a 2011 Nissan juke. His complaint is the car goes off when he slows down (with the ac on).
The car also does hardstarting, especially when the engine is cold.
I scanned the car and got the following codes:

P0078 exhaust valve control solenoid circuit bank 1
P0075 intake valve control solenoid circuit bank 1
P0045 turbocharger supercharger boost control solenoid A circuit/open

Pending codes
P0098 intake air temperature sensor 2 circuit high
P0031 h20s heater control circuit low bank 1 sensor 1

These issues started after the car overheated and the top gasket was changed

Please assist

This totally worked!

I replaced the 02 sensor and cleaned plugs I. Bank 1, 3 and 5.

Car is fine now!!

Which car is this? Something seems to be happening at the bank 1 of your engine, and all three cylinders of that bank are misfiring. The smell is likely the fact that the car is running rich. Cases like this may not be easily diagnosed remotely. Check in to a workshop.

XLS is basically almost a stripped down Limited. It does not get keyless ignition, rain sensing wipers, ventilated seats and memory seats but can get navigation and radar cruise control as option. It does not get JBL synthesis 12 speakers audio too. The screenshot below can help for more clarification.

i saw online that the avalon has 4 trims - xl, xls, limited and touring

Nope. Though they have same engine and body. The Touring is designed to be sporty by having a tighter suspension and a larger wheel. Inside, it has an all black interior and aluminium trims. The Limited edition on the other hand is geared towards maximum luxury with simulated wood trims, keyless ignition, heated and ventilated seats, rain sensing wipers, optional navigation and adaptive cruise control. Those features are not in the limited edition. If you wanna buy the avalon and you like car techs, I'll advise you go for the limited edition. Not much price difference though.

Which trim is the most luxurious for the Avalon? The XLS?

The GS350 is higher in luxury, technology and more expensive in parts and maintenance than the others.

The ES350 and Avalon shares Engine but the ES shares other parts with Camry of same year. Depending on what trim of the ES and Avalon in question, I did say the ES is higher than Avalon the Avalon is a luxurious vehicle too just that it carries a Toyota badge.

Having worked for Toyota in the past, I'd take an Avalon. It doesn't get respect in Nigeria but dollar for dollar, it's more bang for your buck. Also, in Nigeria it will be unique. Everyone and they Mama got an es or gs
