I want to depart Nigeria on the 26th because I will be using a connecting flight by Qatar airways which arrives Gatwick on the 27th but my entry date is 27th to the UK.

I want to know if I would have any issues boarding on that 26th?

I would think yes .... But, go to the airport tomorrow and make enquiries......

There is a company called "Notary Cam" we used to notarise online. They were recommended by Gtbank and charged £50 pounds or so in 2024.

It was fast and but las las a good way to chop peoples money

I’ve been a quiet follower of this thread for a while now, and the amount of support and information I’ve gained from this community has been incredible. I want to sincerely thank everyone who has shared their knowledge and offered guidance along the way.

I’m excited to share that our first home-buying journey has officially come to an end—exactly 2 years and 7 months after arriving in the UK. We picked up the keys on the 28th March 2025!
It’s a 3-bedroom semi-detached home with 3 toilets, built in 2019. I knew it was the one the moment I saw it, after what felt like endless viewings.
• Offer Accepted: October 2024
• Mortgage Approved: December 2024 (thanks to Skipton, approved in just 2 days)
• Completion Date: 28th March 2025

Is it not better to still get that mortgage, getting the mortgage means your deposit is tied against a property and you can sell if let’s say the government asked people to leave, that, you can recoup your deposit back.

For me, the key take away is that relocation/Japa should be seen as a means to an end and never an end in itself. I'll say Nigerians (especially those without settled status) in the UK should be interested in politics back home, who rules, who wins elections etc because there's indeed no place like home. I'll say Nigerians in the UK should save save and save/invest for the rainy day, keep developing yourselves and earning transferrable skills/degrees, live a modest life and approach mortgages with caution. No place like home.

I just pity the health sector, expect lots of doctors, nurses and other professionals to move. Canadian and Australian recruitment agencies will be smiling to the banks soon, it’s their season 😜. I already know folks who are just one or two years to ilr getting ready to move. I am the experience driver and I want to add my wife to the policy as she will start driving. Which will give me cheaper premium? Taking the policy in my name and adding her as additional driver or taking the policy in her name and adding myself as additional driver?
