LISA(lifetime isa) = lifetime savings where govt tops 25% which is not accessible unless u wanna buy a home.

Cash isa= normal savings account can be accessed anytime and most providers have between 3%-5% interest rate.

On a side note if i go with LISA i would have 15k in 3 years(assuming i put 4k each year).. 15k is not enough deposit for a house in London hence me wanting to get involved with other investment strategies.

I would read up about index fund, didn’t come across this one. So far i have downloaded money box, i am hoping to use them for everything investments.

From my understanding of what you said jedisco, your most prefered is life time ISA (stock and shares not the cash one). Please why would u prefer the lisa stock and shares to the cash one that the government gives 25% on in each tax year.

Also is the lisa stock and shares not more risky as isnt stock nd shared like forex where you can loose money?? Also i dont think the govt gives 25% on the stock and shares lisa right??

Also @lexusgs i am hoping to do a ling term investment, from my research i have seen long term investment pays better.

The recent changes to the citizenship rules mainly apply to those who enter irregularly/without a valid visa- via boat or truck for example. I'm guessing the OP's friend entered with a visa which he subsequently overstayed before deciding to claim asylum.

I agree though that he doesn't have a route to regularise his status (in the short or medium term) that doesn't involve leaving the UK.

Youkay don cast - it's true that the asylum ,and human rights route in general, will be made much more difficult going forward. The Telegraph has seen to this with their raft of human rights related immigration exposés over the last couple of weeks. Even the loophole that some Palestinian families were going to use to apply for humanitarian protection in the UK has been exposed and is to be closed.
It's all part of their plan.

That will put a heavy question mark on the failed asylum application. I guess he applied for asylum because his life is in danger in Nigeria, so going back to the same country means that the asylum application was fraudulent

Hello everyone, a friend is in urgent need of advice. He claimed asylum in the UK in 2023. Last year, he met a Nigerian-American, and they have been making wedding plans in the UK. Vendors have been paid, and deposits have been made for the wedding venue. Invitations have gone out as well. Please note that this is a genuine marriage. He proposed to her in October last year.

However, in January this year, his asylum application was refused and deemed unfounded, with no right to appeal. His wedding is scheduled for August, and he is feeling very confused. Has anyone ever experienced a similar situation? What options does he have so they can go ahead with their wedding as planned? They plan to relocate to the US afterwards. Please help.

Pressurising yourself that you have to pass is a recipe for failure. First question is have you done enough lessons? Has your driving instructor confirm that you are ready? If Yes to the above, try to visit the test centre with your driving instructor to get familiar with the driving route. Then afterward relax. If the first two questions are NO then you are in for a failure my friend 😌
