CNG: Conversion Of Commercial Petrol, Diesel Vehicles Now Free LeadershipJul 12, 2024 8:17 AM Compressed Natural Gas CNG station The Program Director of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi), Engr. Micheal Oluwagbemi, has announced that the conversion of commercial petrol and diesel-powered vehicles to CNG will now be at no cost to the vehicle owners. The announcement was made public by the Special Assistant to the President on New Media, Dada Olusegun, via his X account (formerly Twitter) on Thursday evening. Olusegun wrote, “While we are still basking in the euphoria of the Local Government Autonomy judgement, the Program Director of the CNG Initiative @busanga has, today, declared that the conversion of petrol and diesel-powered COMMERCIAL vehicles to run on CNG is now going to be free of charge.” He further explained, “This implies that members of NURTW and RTEAN will benefit from a partnership deal with conversion companies that will provide services to them for free.” In addition, a significant discount will be extended to ride-sharing services such as Uber, Bolt, and Lag-Ride. “Meanwhile, further 50% discount will also be extended to riders such as Uber, Bolt, Lag-Ride, etc. with a provision for installment payments also made available. They can also get their conversion done without paying a single kobo that very day,” Dada added. The P-CNG initiative is part of the broader effort to promote the adoption of CNG as a sustainable energy source for the future. The development followed the recent commissioning of 12 CNG stations in Abuja and Lagos by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL) in partnership with NIPCO on July 4. This strategic move aims to alleviate the burden of high transportation costs on Nigerians following the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu in May 2023. LEADERSHIP reports that under the Presidential CNG Initiative, NNPCL and NIPCO Gas have entered into a strategic partnership to expand CNG stations across Nigeria. The collaboration is set to establish 35 CNG stations nationwide. The effort is part of the government’s response to curtail the significant increase in fuel prices, which rose from N197 per litre to N617 per litre after the fuel subsidy removal announced by President Tinubu on May 29 last year, significantly raising transportation costs.

I hate to say this but igbo men are known for criminality world wide and they account for 95 percent of Nigerians in incarceration worldwide. But we'll haven said that I still insist that this pictures is not proof enough to determine that this guys are igbo men until its proven beyond any reasonable doubt. This dead bodies could be from Benin or the Niger Delta. Or any part of Nigeria and west Africa as a whole. And they also look like Cameroonians. And more so do you suggest that our security personnel should not engage criminals because u think they are igbos. Overall I don't support extra judicial killings in anyway and I never will. But when a group of daredevil criminals decides to engage state security personnels in a gun battle the end result is never good either way. What a country we live in. |

National Ranches Commission Establishment Bill Proposes Jail Term for Defaulters advocate.ngJun 15, 2024 5:08 PM The National Ranches Commission Establishment Bill, 2024, which has passed the second reading in the Senate, proposes a five-year jail term and a N50,000 fine for defaulters if it becomes an act of parliament. The bill, sponsored by Senator Titus Tartenger Zam of the APC from Benue North West, aims to establish ranches for herders in their states of origin, replacing the current practice of open grazing to address the issue of herder/farmer clashes in Nigeria. If enacted, the National Ranches Commission would be responsible for managing, preserving, and controlling ranches nationwide. The bill faced opposition from Northern senators but eventually passed the second reading on June 5, 2024. Part 1V, Section 23 (1) of the bill states that anyone who contravenes any provisions of the Act or regulations made under it shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine of N50,000 or imprisonment for five years, or both. Part 1V, Section 22 (1-7) lists actions that would result in imprisonment, including alienating any rights affecting land constituted as National Ranches, making improvements without approval, encroaching on National Ranches, bush burning, hunting, using chemicals, felling trees, destroying the ecosystem, and allowing livestock to wander, roam, move, or graze outside National Ranches. The bill is intended to regulate the management of ranches and promote a more sustainable and peaceful coexistence between herders and farmers in Nigeria.

Nigerian Legislator Aims to Revive Regional Governance, Presents Bill to Tinubu ambajay.comJun 10, 2024 9:12 AM A Nigerian lawmaker has expressed intent to push for the restoration of the regional system of government in the countryThe bill, which circulated in the public recently, was debunked by the House of RepresentativesThe sponsor has now vowed to table the proposal to President Tinubu and also present it to the house for deliberations…Click Here To Continue Reading>> Weeks after the controversially reinstated old national anthem, “Nigeria we hail thee,” a report has emerged that a Nigerian lawmaker is working toward the restoration of the country’s old regional system of government. News of the bill circulated on social media in the past few days, but the leaders of the House of Representatives disowned it, clarifying that the bill had not been presented before the House. President Tinubu It is unclear if Tinubu will assent to the bill when it gets to his table Image: Fb/Asiwaju Bola Ahmed TinubuSource: Facebook The drafter of the proposed legislation, Dr Akin Fapohunda, has expressed his will to table the bill to President Tinubu. If assented to, it will be forwarded to the National Assembly as an executive bill, where the 10th Senate will deliberate on it. What is regional system of government? The regional system of government is not new to Nigeria; it was used in the past before Nigeria’s first military Head of State, General Aguiyi Ironsi, restructured the model in 1966 to a unitary system. At the time, there were three regions: Western, Eastern, and Northern. The Mid-Western region only emerged a few years before the whole model was crushed.…Click Here To Continue Reading>> In the system of government, each region is allowed to control all resources within its borders, and royalties are paid to the central government. It is the polar opposite of what we have presently, where the federal government controls all the resources and gives revenue to state and local governments. It was after the restructuring that the regions were broken down into states. Aguiyi Ironsi made the stylistically groundbreaking historical move after many national leaders were murdered by rebellious soldiers, prompting him to introduce the unitary model. Deji Adeyanju Sends Message to Tinubu In another report, human rights activist Deji Adeyanju has called on President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Adeyanju highlighted that the Supreme Court has deemed Nnamdi Kanu’s detention legally questionable due to his extraordinary rendition. Adeyanju expressed disappointment in Tinubu’s administration for not adopting a different approach from Buhari’s. Source: Legit.ng .

Naija247newsApr 30, 2024 4:28 AM Minister of Steel Development Collaborates with Consortium to Revive Ajaokuta Steel Plant Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, the Minister of Steel Development, has initiated discussions with a consortium led by the original developers of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL), Tyamzhpromexport (TPE), to revitalize the steel plant. During a meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, the minister urged the consortium, comprising representatives from Russia’s TPE/Rostec, Novostal, and Nigeria’s Proforce, to devise a blueprint for the swift revival of the Steel Plant. Salamotu Jibaniya, head of the press & public relations department for the ministry, confirmed this in a statement. Audu emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” aimed at steel production and industrialization in Nigeria before the end of his first term. Following the meeting, Audu plans to visit Moscow at the invitation of TPE and other consortium partners to explore funding opportunities amounting to approximately $2 billion required for the steel plant’s revival. He expressed gratitude to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Nigeria for facilitating the meeting, acknowledging the potential economic boost such a partnership could bring to Nigeria. Sergei Egorov, the general director of TPE and leader of the consortium, commended the minister’s efforts in assembling the consortium to revive the long-dormant steel plant. Egorov’s team of technical experts, after touring the Steel Complex, expressed optimism about its revival potential and pledged to conduct a comprehensive technical audit to finalize their decision. Valery Shaposhnikov, the deputy head of the Russian Embassy in Abuja, lauded the partnership as a significant step towards the mutual benefit of both countries. He praised President Tinubu’s commitment to reviving Ajaokuta, highlighting the unprecedented political will demonstrated by the Nigerian government since the Shehu Shagari Administration in 1979. |
