Politics / Re: Abdulsalami Wins Bid For Four PHCN Distribution Companies by leyom234: 5:19pm On Oct 17, 2012
taharqa: Dont know much bout yr 'frnds in the govt' theory, but just to say that the entire Power value chain( fuel-to-power, Generatn, Distributn- only Transmission for obvious strategic reasons wud be ownd by d govt ) has bn LIBERALIZED, the partial-privatisatn is only a part of the whole process . Additional private investors are already building generatn and distributn facilities in Lagos and Aba( there was a thread bout Nnaji's new plant in Aba yterday), state govts can now invests in power and some like Rivers are already doing that, while i heard dat sm international investors are already looking at opportunities in dis respect. Bottomline: d sector has bn Liberalised- Reforms already put in place like d reconstitutn of NERC, raising of tariff to investment levels, formatn of d Bulk trader, Guarantee of Private investments, formatn of Liability company, unbundling of PHCN into daughter companies and now the completn of partial privatisatn of same have are somewhat ensuring it. Plz look hard at policies properly so you re more informd. Cheers

But why those names that have never been familiar with the business of electricity? Why those same people who have eaten deep into the lives of our people? The truth is most capable foreign investors were frustrated out of the bidding process beside of their hidden agenda?

dont worry ,u will soon learn and understand the story.more generators, another fuel hike plus 5000 new notes to top it up.dont worry it is all a matter of time
no hard feelings ,just pure nigerian political facts. hahahahahahahahahahaa

The way you talk shows that you are one of the people feeding on economic sabotage. Babangida, your uncle, did he ever invest in NEPA throughout his 8 years as the head of this Country? Now his company was deemed technically qualified to own a whole power generaiton station, not even a generator selling company. Aown omo ako tile ta radarada. They shouldnt pay PHCN staff now!!! Lets see may be it is soldiers that will give you supply. oh you think this is NITEL or Delta steel Company.

My brother, the thing dey tire me for this our obodo Nigeria.

But na unna want privatisation now!!! Well, here it comes!!! Immagine, North-South Power Company Ltd, which is linked to IBB, I mean the same Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, someone who invested nothing into electricity in his 8 years of ruling Nigeria won the financial bid to buy Shiroro Hydro Power Plant. That man that brought corruption into this Country to tear our economy apart is coming to use the money he stole from us to buy our property again. We knew this all along and we tried to make it clear to Nigerians but Nigerians said 'NO', they wanted privatisation. Unna well done ooo.

agabaI23: It will finally come to ' if you don't like company X you can switch to company Y irrespective of your location because it is obtainable in many countries presently. We will get there. Remember transmission is still government owned.

Its high time Nigerians understood that there is difference in commodity. As far as telecom is concerned, people were given license to operate something that moves freely in the air. Here, we are talking about something that moves through cables. The thing is that government monoploy now becomes private monopoly. In this context, Nigerians dont have the opportunity to choose. Two companies cannot buy one distribution company. If i buy Ikeja distribution company, am responsible to distribute light to customers in Epe down to the whole of Ikorodu, Ketu, Maryland, Palmgrove, Agege, Akowonjo etc because those places are under Ikeja distribution Company (Head Office at Alausa). So, there is still Monopoly and if not, worst case of monoploy.

Well am an insider who understands government's plans write from onset. Let them just pay us our money or they should forget. By the time they pay us, we will be able to fuel generator but the common Nigerians who want privatisation will 'walk alone'.

triaophant: Very funny indeed,do we mean to say that after the billions of dollars spent by Nigeria to build those power Plants, we are now selling them for pittance just to accommodate some more crooks? God is watching, that God that delivered us from Abacha in his own way will deliver us again at the fullness of time, Amen.

PHCN unions forsaw this and campeigned agaist it but you all wanted privatisation. Now, it has come, why not embrace it?

agabaI23: Bill won't be any funnier because NERC will regulate prices

OK so what happens to the bills you people are greviously moaning about at the moment? NERC doesnt regulate it? NERC knows and they are more concerned about what the FG wants. Is FG Petroleum Pricing Regulatory body not aware of the fuel crisis in the Country? Are they not aware that petrol is sold for 120? So what are they regulating? NERC my foot. So when Otedola buys and he chooses to bill us based on his desires to make his own profit, NERC will tell him to reduce it? You are BIG JOKE.

OLAJOMO: I am less concerned about bidders or where they come from but stable power supply.

I wonder how someone like manages to use the internet. The way you talk shows how shallow your thinking mentality is. The same set of people who have held Nigerians captive are the ones who are buying PHCN. With these sets of people buying PHCN, its a matter of moving from frying to fire. When the greedy capitalists buy, Nigerians will suffer the more. Majority of the foreign Companies that are technically proven have been frustrated out of the process.

PHCN staffs forsaw this scenario but the people in government know that generality of Nigerians are ignorant of how the power sector is run. They know that it is PHCN staff you see and therefore, hold responsibility for inadequacy in the power sector. They therefore used such opportunity to instigate the general public againt PHCN staffs when they know fully well that enough power is not generated because the available capacity is not enough, not even for Lagos State not to talk of for the whole of Nigeria.

What we need is sanity in the system which is supposed to start from our politicians themselves. The one and only solution to power insufficiency is building of more power generation stations and not privatisation. And it is only the FG that has the license to build power stations and they know it but since they know that Nigerians dont know, they instigate you agaist PHCN. This is not to say that there is no corruption among staff but it is just a reflection of what obtains in the whole country. Thats why we need sanity not privatisation.

What PHCN unions tried to prevent was opposed by the general public. You all wanted privatisation ? Here, it comes. They will use the money stolen from you to by your property. Won fe fi owo Abu se Abu lalejo.

omega25red: @ poster are you a virgin
Why do you need a girl to be a virgin for you to appreciate who she is
did you know sex is not the only important thing in a relationship

If you dont have a legit answer to any of these three questions drop the issue.
.

He neither said he wanted a virgin nor did he say he knew she was a virgin before they started dating. The young man only wants to know how to verify the girl's claim. Of course she could be lying to the dude now. What if they get married and he suddenly discovers that she had lied to him all the while? He would have been taken for a mugu. Dont you get it? OP, just free your mind and play along.
Education / Re: NUC Bans Re-sit Exams In Universities by leyom234: 7:07pm On Sep 21, 2012
afam4eva: What's their business with what goes on inside a school. Shouldn't it be the duty of the universities to determine whether or not they want their students to resit? I think some people are taking lectures from Fashola of Lagos. This law is a draconian law that does not sit well with common sense me.

Nawaooo!!! You are asking what their business is when it is actually their constitutional responsibility to ensure that Universities are run the right way. Yes I support the idea they are campaigning for since neither WAEC nor NECO organise special exams aside the may/june and November/December arrangements.

The culpable institutions are the private ones since they actually make students pay extra amount. Imagine a student paying 15k to resit for each course he fails. Yes each cours. Ife he fails 3, thats 45k aside registration fee. Mind you, there will be preasure to pass such student after paying heavily to participate in summer exams.

Motion supported.
