Leave Sowore out of this. Was Sowore the one that forced the Nigerian army to put out a statement and lie that the brigadier general and his men had returned? Sowore's initial report was that a formation of Nigerian army troops and their CO had been ambushed with 4 casualties. Nigerian army then put out a statement acknowledging the attack but also went on to say its officers were able to repel the attack and return.

FOUR DAYS later, news spread that ISWAP had held a brigadier hostage. Apparently, he was the CO of the unit earlier attacked. For four days Nigerian army could not embark on patrol to locate its officer. Rather, it choose lies and propaganda.

Will CNN headline such a sensitive news even if they have access to it.
Both the individuals that leaked the news, the Editor that published it and the news outlet should be investigated and charged

The part in bold is the point a lot of Nigerians are missing. On what basis should our military be deployed to protect a construction site with a directive to shoot government officials who are on routine monitoring exercise? Are we in a war situation with another country over the property? Is that what we’ve reduced our armed personnel to? Instead of deploying soldiers to fight terrorism and protect the territorial integrity of Nigeria, we now deploy them with the directive to shoot government officials over an illegally acquired land. What a shame.

Like I’ve said before, all the soldiers involved in that illegal operation and show of shame including the person that deployed them to that site should have been arrested by the police and charged to court. I condone impunity far too much in this country and that’s why people get away with a lot of rubbish.

I think you are missing the point we are making. Nobody is saying the Navy is right, my point in particular is that Wike has no reason to personally go to that spot knowing the possibility that the guard there may create a scene. The FCT minister is the chief security officer of the FCT. All security arrangements and deployment should be reviewed by him. On no condition should soldiers be deployed to any part of the FCT without his knowledge.
