Akanoa: Hello please my gcms notes just came in and I'm absolutely shocked no concrete reason for refusal. I've attached some of the screenshot s below. Read Note 2 in your GCMS notes and you'll see concrete reasons for refusal. Applicant is 19yrs, 1. The study plan does not appear reasonable given the applicant’s employment and education history. Question: What did you study in the University and is it aligned with the proposed program you’re applying for in Canada? 2. The VO is not satisfied that the applicant would leave Canada because his single, mobile, not well established, and has no dependents. Question: did you explain in detail your ties to Nigeria or attach any document like properties and so on. |

HartyA: Good morning sir, pls my application has being on since February 18 uptill now, nothing I also didn't do an upfront medical and got a destressing mail this morning from the Nairobi office Go do your medicals and send a webform. I think all visa applicants should do an upfront medical before lodging or immediately after lodging. Waiting for a medical request might take a while. |

patriciai: Pls help a sister out, I am really confused. I just did my medicals at Qlife last week Tuesday and found out today that I am pregnant. Had no idea at all. Pls can this affect my application and what can I do. Congratulations in advance to your child and Visa approval, In my opinion. Since you have submitted your SP application and you didn't know you were pregg, it's better for you to have more proof of funds and also send additional documents/SOP explaining that you never knew you were pregnant before you submitted your application. Because the VO officer will think you have plans to have your baby in Canada. From experience my wife's 1st refusal she wasn't pregnant, but during her second application she was pregnant, she used her old medical examination because we had no plans to have our baby in Canada....She was approved....She contacted Fanshawe College regarding her pregnancy and due date and was advised to differ which she did, because if she decides to have the baby in Canada her insurance doesn't cover maternity. |

elizyous: Good evening all,
Please do I need to do an international driver's license in addition to my Nigerian national driver's license before traveling to Canada?
Congrats to the family who just got family PPR. More good news on the way for all hopefuls. Amen! I read on a blog if you have a Full Nigerian driver's license. (Not temporary & Not Probationary license) with more than 2 years of driving experience. You will request for driver's license letter from the Nigerian embassy in Ottawa. You will take a vision test and a written test, if you pass you don’t need to take the G2 Driving Exam, you can apply for the Full G driving Exam. Idk if this is still valid, Gurus can advise more on this. |

Stonehenge83: Based on our assessment of your recent enquiry, we cannot process your request as you have not provided sufficient evidence that you meet an exemption criterion and/or that your travel to Canada is non-discretionary, per the travel restrictions implemented to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID‑19) in Canada.
Even though you do not meet an exemption criterion and/or your travel has not been deemed non-discretionary, your application will now be put on hold until after the travel restriction pause has been lifted.
Thank you for your interest in visiting Canada.
Sincerely.
Good afternoon house, this is what I got as response from IRCC today. How do I go about this? Anyone who can help? I will really appreciate. I guess it’s your travel authorization application that is on hold, and not your OWP application. Other OWP applicants are getting approvals. You’re required to apply for travel authorization after your visa has been approved. |

JustMellow: Hello Lightswitch007,
There is no harm in sending the extra documents via webform/email. You can merge in one PDF. You can also merge to other documents to be uploaded in the (other) column(s) that have extra space.
But why not cut down the numbers by including only the relevant and sensitive pages. For example: Survey(s), C of O, Receipt, Building plan, etc.
Best of Luck Thanks for your response Mr JustMellow and thanks for clearing my doubts, I was a bit worried for uploading half of my property document and the other half as a webform. I uploaded only the relevant documents that’s why it’s 126 pages. (Surveys, CofOs, Purchase Receipts, Transfer of Ownership Documents, Building Plans, Structural plans and Stamp Duties). |

lightswitch007: Hi nairalanders good afternoon,
I have lodged my application for OWP on May 19th, biometric completed, Medical passed (but no email notification). I was reading a thread recently regarding sending webform.
In my case, I have several landed properties and houses to my name. All scanned copies are over 126 pages. When compressed the size it was more than 4MB. When I compressed it more to fit in, it was 3.8MB but it was blurry so I decided to half the documents and send the rest as webform and explain my intention on why split the upload. All my properties are listed in my SOP as I want to have strong ties to Nigeria.
I want to ask was it a good decision to lodge my application with half of the property documents because they couldn't fit and upload the remaining as a webform days after?
@Frankrobbn1 @Justmellow @Adiekwe1@Lekiboboe @NairaLuck @justwise @Akannitommy and other gurus, please advise. Thanks Nairalanders please advise. Thanks |

JustMellow: Hello Lightswitch007,
It involves three key factors: the workload, backlogs, and/or availability of officers of the "home" primary office (Nairobi; Nigeria) and the "resident" primary office (Manila; Nigeria).
On most occasions, the applications of applicants residing abroad are mostly processed in the visa office of the country they (currently) reside in or the regional visa office of IRCC.
Some other factors could also be any of these reasons under:
- Application of local assessment and survey to reach a decision. - Visa/Application processing policy change. - Re-distribution or transfer of the case file for verification and confirmation of fact i.e. employment, sensitive and privy information, etc. - Transparency and justification without sentiment due to religion, region, and culture bias or prejudice i.e. Christian/Muslim, China/Hong, and Government/LGBTQ+, etc.
Other official reasons could be:
- IRCC discretion - Priority (Head of States, Head of Governments, Kingdom Rulers, Ministers, Ambassadors, etc.

Best of Luck Thank you JustMellow. Very insightful |

Frankrobbn1: Please be properly informed that your SOWP application was transferred to the immigration office in Nairobi, Kenya simply because the visa office in Manila (Philippines) have been iinundated as of late and presently facing a high volume of applications including clearing the backlogs for PR applications. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Manila visa office are working with critical and reduced number of staffs which unavoidably resulting to increase in processing times. They might have transferred your application to reduce the workload from their end. If you followed the immigration procedure and requirements of the SOWP and have provided documents to support your application, you shouldn't be disturbed about it.
It will end in praise thank you Mr Frankrobbn1 |

Akannitommy: I am unsure if you can control which visa office would treat your applications. I suspect your country of citizenship (Nigeria) would take precedence over your temporary place of residency (Philipines), when making this determination. You submitted police certificate and asset documents from Nigeria. Hence, I suspect these would need to be accessed by those people/offices familiar with the source of those documents. You are also aplying for SOWP and not study permit like your partner. I know someone - Ghanaian - who applied for study permit in Italy and got approval in under a month as well because he is presently studying in Italy. So the pattern suggests that the visa type, your current status, and types of document required, would determine the Visa Office and duration. Thank you. Akannitommy |

Hi everyone, This month I applied for SOWP. On 24th May 2021, I sent a web form attaching my upfront medical sheet. On 29th May I got an acknowledgment email that my file will be forwarded to the responsible office. I found out my file is located at the Canadian visa office in Nairobi, Kenya.
In my form, I specified applying from the Philippines as I'm a resident here (all my documents are from here only my property document & Nigerian police clearance are from Nigeria) and the approval rate for SOWP here is high within a month or two, my wife's SP got approved within a Month.
I would like to ask if is usual for Nigerian citizens even though living overseas to be processed in Nairobi, Kenya and will it affect my application since the only document from Nigeria is my property assets and police clearance. Gurus Please advise.
Thank you. |
