Sir TheSuperNerd ... Please, I wasn't referring in particular to Nacho.. I was speaking in broad terms about teenage young talents... I meant that it could be a practice for trainers to innocuously load young athletes with supplements with the thinking it will help attain or maintain optimum health.

But I am of the view such practice could do much harm in the medium and long term.
I am especially against the use of creatine and glutamine in teenagers. These protein are not bad in themselves neither are they illegal. They are widely in use in the sport world.

I think you went overboard with the mention of steroids...
My focus is on will I say nutritional supplements.. As a med I believe you surely should get the thrust my post.
I want better handling of young alents... Sometimes popular practices may not be so healthy afterall...

Am considering embarking on a full scale research into these popular sports supplements if I receive approval for It.

When I think of players like Alexander Pato, I become concerned with the use of substances as creatine, L-glutamine etc as ergogenic aids by sports men. This is perhaps Nacho's fourth injury since his enlisting into MCFc. Hope they give him special care.
I remember the pressure on Pato to gain weight and muscle mass when he was just about 17... Of course it was important he does so as he was playing in the serie-A. Who knows what Milan did with him?? .. While I not insinuating Milan used growth enhancing hormones or creatine etcetera, I do strongly feel that their use in teenagers could have long term negative effects. I recently have begun to look into their effect on injury susceptibility and see glimpses of a positive correlation.

Thus, I do strongly recommend that clubs and trainers refrain from the act of loading young athletes with "supplements" .
They could freely use them on adults as they desire.
Pato's strong affinity for injuries remain a warning signal for trainers not to either put extreme pressure on young athletes or mess with their biology but let nature and good nutrition take the lead until they turn adults by age 21.

Making a name for yourself in the Premier League is a tough task for any player, but Kelechi Iheanacho has done well to stand out at Manchester City since joining the first-team squad. Goals in pre-season saw Manuel Pellegrini include him in the Premier League for the first time this term and the 18-year-old netted his first competitive goal to beat a resilient Crystal Palace in injury time last week. However, Iheanacho proved he isn't quite the finished article with a showboating mishap ahead of Saturday's loss to West Ham... booting the ball directly into his own face. Ouch! Wow! Come to think of it. This thread has suddenly gained some 'quick' activity only because of Nacho's goal. Nigerians and success........ Na wa o! Kinda good sha but remember that not everyone agreed to this move to man city. Some said a move to a small club would have been better. Some even said it makes no meaning making the match day squad if u don't get to play and only make 1-5 minute cameos. Many negative and pessimistic remarks came through in and out of NL.

It's because we all need to know the initial views we're coming from. A lot of fans are popping up all of a sudden which is great but pls let's care be taken to know who and who stands for what view. Coz if things are to go bad(nope, not gonna happen) people would start talking again.

It's an unpopular comment I'm making but I know what I'm saying......

Hahahahahahaha...... It's good to be vindicated but as always people are quick to say "I said it", "I knew it", "I saw it".......... Such childishness must stop. It makes me sick.

Who saw Nacho's first epl goal coming? Coz we believed patience and hardwork would eventually speak for Nacho. Let this be a lesson coz I forsee something similar taking place again, maybe with another of our rising stars.

I get ur point bro. Those Boys are talented bt i also feel they are a little over hyped. To most peeps here they feel Manu kept his best legs on d bench.Which i dnt completely agree.

While I haven't been critical of manu's choiced starting eleven I definitely was itched by his TACTICS... The team was accustomed to total football... I followed thier training camp closely... As informed by the 'friendlies' they played in Germany, their pre-tournament tactics was clear... Athough it had its weaknesses.

I was privy to happenings in their NZ camp. The goal was total football.. After the first half game against brazil, Manu went hey wire calling names, singling out certain players(dont wanna call names) and warned against players surging forward..
Moral went low..

After the brazil game the victimization continued and Manu made radical changes to his tactics...and proposed defensive tactics that were alien to his players. The rest was history.

Manu have now also admitted that his choice of pre-tournament training site (Germany) was a huge Mistake.

And now... We can only imagine what could have been'.... And muse the words 'If only'
However, that is past now... As it is said: ''a rolling stone carries no dust''... Let wait and see how these young lads would come through in terms of development..

What I am saying and I feel others in this thread are saying is that the 2015 team had on individual bases more talented players than previous teams and a huge reputation preceded them.

Maybe it is the word ''talent'' confusing you.... Talent is all potential.. It has to be put into good use... As earlier posited, the talents of the 2015 team wasn't harnessed. Therefore they did not reach their true potential in the tournament.
That is the fuss people are making about manu. HE simply wasted the huge talents he had at his disposal

They won 2-1 against Saudi Arabia, lost 1-0 to Portugal, they drew 1-1 with the Czechs, played 4-4 with Russia and won on penalties, they won USA 2-1 and lost 2-0 to Portugal.

That is Three wins against Saudi Arabia, USA and Russia on penalties. One draw and Two losses. They were not all that as you make them.

But he has failed to consider the evidences before him... The 89 team was a fluke.. Na ojoro team... However they still represents (in the records) the best u20 team nigeria has presented

Yea. Remember they were at their peak at that time... And from my experience of the game, players usually peak between ages 25-28. No wonder none of them could manage top-flight football in the ensuing 10years post saudi-89...

However, when we say potentials, the 2015 team takes it all on a player by player basis.. Infact that is why their showing was seen as a huge disappointment. The 2007 team of brown ideye, bala ezekiel et al reached the quarter-finals but it was clear they where running on full throttle and could not have provided anything more.. . The 2015 team ran on gear one when they were a six gear machine..

If you still cant fathom my analogy then..........

The 1989 U20 team remain the greatest team I have seen... The cup eluded them no thanks to Fatigue
The 2005 team comes second cos they matched every opponents skill for skill, brut for brut..
The 2015 had it all but will for a long time remain the Greatest Underachievers... The 89 and 05 teams may top in physicality but Man for Man the 15 team remains most talented Nigeria u20 team I have ever seen

I do not like comparing these lads because they are special. Thers is ons thing I like to point out. Awo has that ability to create space for the midfielders to find him. That is Awo's strength. His weak point is finishing. He will sort it out and then, we will have a lethal finisher in Awo.

My fear with Success is that he is not getting the chance attack regularly. [b]Sometimes, he is on the wings. That is why I wanted him to go to Milan where he would get proper training as a finisher. Unlike Nacho and Awo who get regular attack trajning.

B4 New Zealand 2015, Nacho was interviewed and he revealed dat his role models are Messi and Kaka. He went on to say with a combined touch of modesty and self confidence dat he 'hopes' to keep improving so dat one day he just might be crowned a 'Fifa ballon d'or' winner as the World's best. His father reminds me of mine... Perfectionists. They can push u still u go beyond urself. That's d good side behind having a perfectionistic father.

We are on the same plain here... Nacho is a special jewel... He has a great career ahead of him but as you well know there are many independent and intervening variables that affect stardom... Like I said everything seems to be falling in place though... So let just wait and see how he comes through

At the bolded, I don't wanna be drawn into the debate of who is better or more ambitious.. As you should know they possess different qualities... But it has become increasing glaring in recent times that nacho possesses the quality/talent/potential to jostle with the worlds elite for the gongs...

So we are cool ...

But when you think of Bojan krkic, Denison, quaresma et al you realize that poor management could truncate early gains in terms of development of players and it is even more surprising when you realize that even clubs with reputation for breading players could do little to help... At age 16-18 these aforementioned were touted to be future balon d or winners.. Infact very few players till date could do with their feet what these guys did.... They were my best but I was disappointed ..

I believe nacho would be different.. There is this aura around him
