I have asked my questions here Sir:

LINSAR:

I'll ask here for the benefit of others.

What are the things I need to have/do to ensure I have a competitive profile for a scholarship in a non-stem masters?
Simply put, what makes a competitive profile?

Write the GMAT and score at least 750. As an African, that is a very high score. Apply to schools in the Texas/Geogia area, plenty Nigerians dey that side. What also matters is where you have worked and how long. Your impact, too. Extracurricular activities come in at the last.

If it's not a T15 MBA he shouldn't bother. MBA is all about presteeej grin

Marriage is your best and fastest option, for everyone sef. The most viable option for a Nigerian is NIW. If a law student (https://twitter.com/ImadeIyamu), not yet a grad o, can be approved, then it is possible for anyone else. Just begin the process immediately you land in the US.

Thank you.

No it doesn't, you can go for MSc in information management, data science for example, but like I said my opinion is mine you can do more research on your own ,so that you don't end up as surplus, as the market is already Saturated.
Things are changing, more technology is being deployed for ease of doing business from soft to hard work For example traditionally 2 or more people are employed to drive a semi truck which is referred to as trailer in Naija, but here in the state it's 1 one person from start to finish, verse majority of the jobs available depends largely on technology and now AI is taking over the job market and you will be coming to compete with people who's have experience and education here in the state, In essence you need more than enough preparation to break into the market but not impossible, if I can do it you too can do it

Thank you so much!

The emboldened is what made me quit learning web development. The market saturation doesn't give room for entry level.
Even experienced computer science grads in the US are complaining on Reddit.

Don't be discouraged. Just make your profile to be competitive. However, don't let people tell you that it is either STEM or first class. Rather, it is how best you can project your profile and fit for the school. That is where your extensive research comes in. You must comb for as many schools as possible ( I am not kidding). I have 2 siblings who fell for this STEM and First class misinformation but did not even get admission not to talk of scholarships until I format their brains. First class in Mathematics and Economics. Your SOP is the game changer. Don't get me wrong, your grade must be good but it won't just earn you admission based on that except you can bring it to perspective. SOP is what brings every aspect of your applications together. You must understand how to make sense of your transcript. They won't do it for you. The more relevant courses you can bring together to prove your case, the better.

Understood Sir, thank you!

But do you have an idea of what a competitive profile should be? Considering I'm going for Masters.
I understand I'll need to research but your input is just as valuable. And I may not get the chance to ask questions like I'm doing now.

It won't, education and learning here are different and resources are abound everywhere for you to exploit.
It's just my opinion, and it's out of my personal experience . Just research well so that you don't end up wasting your scarce resources. Special skills are required here not like those regular courses, don't get me wrong it all depends on you,am not here to scare or advise you wrongly

Thank you.

An important information is missing from my post so let me say it here. I already have B. Sc in a mgt science course. I'm looking to do M. Sc.

I think this puts me in an even more complex situation. Does your advice still hold? i.e doing Masters in those above courses(sounds somehow based on my background).

Yes, there are more scholarships for STEM studies and graduates than management as STEM fields power/fuel the global economy. It is why I keep hammering on mathematics - folks who know mathematics or studied math based courses wouldn't find it hard to get the best jobs or scholarships.

For management grads, again, GRE/GMAT - the higher the score, the higher your chances of being considered. The same applies to TOEFL. Please don't listen to anyone who says you should apply for a TOEFL waiver. You can do so, but only if your GMAT/GRE verbal score is very high. Otherwise, write TOEFL and score at least 100. You are a native speaker of the language as you were born with it. You are competing against Europeans, Indians, Chinese, Vietnamese and native Americans. You are going for a war, so you should be prepared.

First step is perusing the websites of interested universities and their departments, check for their admission requirements and professors you desire to work with, check sources of funding for international students etc. No source of funding for foreign students? Jump and pass. Prepare to send email asking well-thought out questions. No go ask questions wey the information dey the website o.

To seive through schools, use the Wikipedia entries of R1 and R2 universities.

Thank you very much for taking your time to respond.

At the risk of sounding like I'm asking too much, do you have a glimpse of how I can stay back please?
What options do I have?
I know H1b visa is tough and even tougher for non-stem grads.
I know of marriage which I'm too young for.
Any others?

1. Access to loan with good collateral to stand for...
I hav a cousin with big hotel in his possession as father ain't around no more... he submitted as collateral, got big funds and moved to study abroad...

2. Selling off properties and Lands..
Some people hav building to dia name maybe from inheritance... they just sell it off and make use the funds for travel

3.Some have families, cousins, Uncle/Aunties who are God sent... you talk to them and dey gather up some funds to help you relocate..

4. Some won Bet codely and use the funds to migrate..
I knew a guy that won around 20m few years back.. he dint spend 1naira of the money to flex... rather he used it to migrate him self and his family to study abroad...

So dere are many ways... you just hav to find one that can work for you

Goodluck

All the four categories are based on luck 😔

Getting in there is one thing, being able to stay back is another thing. Damn!

Try tuition free countries like Germany.

I saw stuffs like one will need to be at least B2/C1 German to get jobs in my field.
Also, the pay there is little compared to the US. A lot of people there can't afford to be home owners except in remote areas because of low income, even in my field.

My two cents is know that F1 visa (Student visa) does NOT directly lead to green card in the United States.

If seeking permanent residency is your focus after your studies, map out a robust strategy before you depart to avoid story that touches the heart

Can we discuss about the "robust strategy"?
I only know of H1b visa that has a very slim chance.
I also know of marriage but I'm still young to get married (less than 24 years).
What can I do?

Please don't come to USA for mgt science course, I can tell you there's no job at all.
Just come for engineering, tech like security, cloud computing etc, science like NASA related and other research courses. Especially all this artificial intelligence related courses is preferable. Just my opinion

Won't it be difficult to cope?
It won't make sense to get poor grades just cos I went to study what passed my power

You only need GRE fee, TOEFL fee, WES fee, SEVIS fee, visa application fee and flight ticket. Aside the UK, most countries' universities' offer scholarships, and as you stated, they are competitive. Why shouldn't they be? Everyone loves good things, and good things don't come easy or cheap. Yu must work hard for them. In order to compete, you need to have a competitive profile. I would outline the profile of folks I know one-on-one and from a distance:

- First class in Biotechnology from a private university and MSc from a federal university in the south east who is pursuing his PhD in the US. Source of funding: Graduate Fellowship (very competitive form of sponsorship by US' universities).
- First class in Biotechnology from a federal university who pursues his graduate studies in the US. His first class was even celebrated on the front page sef.
- First class in Chemistry from a federal university, and I think should be done with his PhD in the US. Prior to leaving Nigeria, he taught GRE/GMAT to job seekers in Nigeria.
- First class in Petrochemical engineering from a state university now in Canada pursuing his MSc, and as we discussed would move to the US for his PhD. He was a math teacher prior to leaving Nigeria.

While all are first class (including others too numerous to mention), there are also those with 2.1 who get scholarship to study abroad. I know one who did and would complete his PhD this year. I know another in Germany who we communicated via Nairaland and should be done with his PhD sef. Had a 4.33 in Chemistry from a state university. Myself, I had a 2.1 and got scholarships when I arrived. My parents said either I get scholarships as 25 million would not be spent even though they had/have it. No be only me dem born.

To secure these scholarships, your profile must be competitive, as admission into grad school is very competitive. I thought competition would have reduced as Chinese students shy away from the US, but Indians don cover the gap. First class graduates are more likely to be sponsored because foreign universities judge us mainly based on our grades before other factors compared to how they would assess Americans, Europeans or Chinese. A Chinese grad with 2.1. from Fudan University has little to exhibit compared to a 2.1. from UNIBEN. To compete favourably against that Fudan grad, it is better to possess a first class.

Thanks a lot for this. Your responses are always eye opening.

I noticed these countries' universities favor STEM courses. Any hope for people in management sciences, with a 2:1 at that?
I know it's possible but is there anything I can do to successfully compete against STEM people?

So I've been frequenting travel section visa threads for a while now. Each time I go there, I get discouraged.
You see people asking if 25 million naira proof of funds is enough or they need to add more shocked
People traveling out every time and the cost is not little at all.

I know people get scholarships to study but it's very competitive and not certain. Even with scholarships, one will still need good money.

How are people from not so buoyant homes doing it? Is there a trick for people like us whose parents don't even have properties to sell for sponsorship?

Ps: USA is my goal, and I'll be studying a management science course; if this info is necessary.

Looking at it from a logically stand point as long as he’s providing and rich less sex from your part, less cleaning up for him from your part, less cooking from your part overall less everything for you to give to this man.

Probably why this woman is is happy about this idea.

Less sex isn't better for women.

Of what use is fighting a case she won't win. Not as if she can stop him anyway.
God bless her.

Meanwhile, in books of history, you'll find out that majority of the great emperors, conquerors, kings, warriors, knights were polygamists.
God bless that great man.
