Most times it's not about competence if I tell you the price to develop this app from scratch ranges from ₦600k upward will you be able to pay such developer, you people underprice developers too much here in Nigeria.
And I sound like I came here to look for 300k service? I think I stated clearly what I want.

How do you intend to screen those interested?
If you are serious about this, you should provide your contact details and do that outside Nairaland.
I may want to make a presentation, then will have interview with those who still feel they have the competence

PoliticsRe: Did Discos Quietly Increase Tariffs?! (Screenshots) by Lionize: 5:46pm On Feb 02, 2025
Kelklein:
Ok.. I just observed a drastic reduction in the Units given when I purchased electricity from AEDC. (See screenshots - the first shot was the unit given in Dec for same amount 73.4kwh, but now drastically reduced to 36.7kwh (100% reduction)

Did anyone observe this..

I thought maybe they changed my Band, so I went to their website to check the meter status. But it was the same Band B.

Just for context, the 5k loaded above would last for one week previously but now it would last for 3 days because of the 100% increment in cost. In a flat with few modest electronics, no ACs running. What that mean is that we would pay close to 50k before the end of the month. Previously 20-25k.

The thing is the surreptitious way they executed this.. no noise made, no announcements, just booooom, like a thief in the night.

With everything Nigerians are currently going through, this is heartless and insensitive on the part of everyone involved in this backdoor Tariff increment.. from the DISCos to the Regulators to those making this draconian policies, that seek to sniff life out of average Nigerians.
I doubt if a level 14's official salary can afford electricity in Nigeria, see how expensive it is. Compare that to what I paid last month is Sweden, pay attention to the energy consumed.

Mate, you are right in your perspective and I quite understand laziness in some applicants. However, remember we ain't made the same way. Some may find it difficult to analyze, interpret and apply a simple instruction such as application processes. Even in a more civilized environment, we have people like this with special cases. It doesn't make them less humans. Believe me, despite your smartness, you still fall behind some intelligent fellows.

In all, let's bear one anothers weakness so far it doesn't affect us negatively.
You misconstrued my point. It was an advice to a Nigerian hustler to make life a little easier for him abroad. No matter how 'not-so-smart' anyone is, if he cannot read and follow instructions, and always rely on another person to give in all the info, then I am afraid for the person.

Do u seriously want a strong currency when u are not producing anything. So that when u have a headache u jump on plane to go to londofor check up.
Honestly, sometimes I am stunned. So paying an entry level worker 70k (less than a bag of rice) is ok? About $50? Is this the Nigeria we all desire? Where people in Nigeria will look up to relatives and friends abroad as God and they themselves slaves unto them? A situation where only the politicians can 'hop on the plane to london for checkup' but the poor cannot even afford to self-medicate anymore. Oh God, may people have the inner strength to keep afloat no matter what.
TravelRe: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by Lionize: 4:26am On Dec 25, 2024
Nigerians should learn to always do things by themselves and read widely to learn the procedures, then ask for clarifications on gray areas. Many like to be spoon-fed, that culture will affect you abroad. Take your time to study every process first and be ready to do it yourself, because there are cases where you can't even hire another person to run the package for you.

Try what? Is it because we said things are expensive in Nigeria? You mean if my salary is 100k I cannot afford these things? Could you please list out what she bought and how much each? Then I can tell if she tried or not.

TravelRe: Why I Now Have A 'japa' Plan (even Though I Love Naija) by Lionize: 12:31am On Oct 29, 2024
Beekeeper1:
I’ve always been that person who says, “Naija till I die!” I grew up here, spent my whole life here, and I love this place like it’s part of my DNA. The food, the culture, the vibe—there’s just nothing like it. Even when my friends left for “greener pastures,” I was here, holding down the fort. “Who will remain to fix Naija if we all run away?” I’d joke.

But last month, my patriotism met its match.

It all started on a Monday morning—the kind that already feels like it’s out to get you before it even begins. I had a big presentation that day, one that could finally lead to a promotion. I got up extra early, suit pressed, slides perfected, and was out the door, determined to make a great impression.

Then NEPA happened. Halfway through my morning routine, the lights went out. No electricity. “No wahala,” I thought, scrambling to find my power bank for my phone and a flashlight to finish getting ready. I wasn’t going to let a little thing like no power stop me, right?

As I headed out, I noticed the fuel gauge blinking “empty.” Just my luck. I made a quick detour to the petrol station, only to be greeted by a line that looked like half of Lagos was there. An hour later, I was still in that line, watching the time tick by as my promotion dreams started slipping out of reach. But I finally got fuel, threw a thank you to the attendant, and sped off, hoping to make up for lost time.

And then I hit the traffic. Not today, please, I thought, gripping the steering wheel, whispering every “I cast and bind” prayer I knew. But Lagos traffic doesn’t answer prayers—it just swallows time, no matter how hard you beg.

I was almost at the office when I got stopped. You guessed it—police checkpoint. The officer took his sweet time inspecting my documents, dropping hints about “something for the weekend,” and I watched the last precious minutes melt away. By the time he finally waved me off, I’d missed my meeting.

When I finally got to the office, my boss didn’t even let me explain. She just gave me the look, that one that says, You had one job. I knew then that any hope for that promotion was gone.

That was it. I was drained, frustrated, and completely over it. It was like the universe was telling me, “Oga, it’s time to go.”

I don’t want to leave Naija; I really don’t. But sometimes, loving this place feels like being in a relationship with someone who just can’t get it together. You see the potential, the charm, the good heart underneath, but there’s always something—always some last-minute obstacle, some hidden clause that makes it so hard.

So yeah, I have a ‘japa’ plan now. I still love this place, and I always will. But maybe I need to love it from afar, with a little less “NEPA wahala” and a bit more stability. It’s a bittersweet plan, but hey, maybe one day I’ll come back, and Nigeria will be ready to meet me halfway.

Until then, my ‘japa’ plan is officially on standby. Because as much as I love this place, sometimes love just isn’t enough.
I used to be a great ambassador of "Nigeria will be great", and I did quite a lot in the youth ministry because I felt we should work on the youths to change their mindset. But by 2017, it was becoming glaring that I didn't fit in. I was the odd because I wanted to do things right. It came to a head in 2020 when my wife agreed with me and said 'oya, it is time for you to leave'.

To put this in perspective, I never out of Nigeria until then, even though I had unlimited opportunities. When I left was the first time I ever applied for a visa. Today, I am super grateful to God I left when I left, I don't know how my life would have been, even though my guys still tell me I would have found a way to survive.

James cursing Esther for no reason?

That's to tell you James had loved Esther since they were younger, but to express his feelings became mighty task for James, yet, "James was burning inside for love". Instead for James to accept his shortcomings in good faith, he resulted to name calling and curse.

The same thing applied to many of hopeless teenage guys full here today, many that are saying all sorts of yamayama to female gender, are actually doing that because of low self esteem and conditions they find themselves now, which make them not suitable enough to even stand before girls and express their mind, let alone dating girls, instead to improve on themselves, they result to rhetoric of abusing women.
You may be right

That was the case for James and Esther. This life is too complex to be understood by the vibes human give out. James was always showing hate towards Esther in Lokoja in CMC that year. Me I just said this kind natural hatred was too much. When you see a girl you just start cursing her and showing anger. many years later, na Esther James go marry. I still dey think am till today. Trust human beings and die.
