PrincessJr: Umea is not bad, I think you will find your way. But you just need to zero your mind that it may take a little while to get a job. Again, Umea is colder than places like Stockholm. Minimum monthly salary for international students? I am sure you convinced them that you can fund your studies. |

subcbouy:It may be possible but the process of verifying that may be rigorous. So, just to be safe, let the company open an account in your name and move the money into the account. With that, you only have the burden to prove the source of the money and the reason it came in in bulk, with relevant documentations provided. |

elijah101: You have to contact your school/department. That may only possible if your autumn semester courses are not prerequisites to your spring courses/ But if I may ask, why do you want to do that? I could advise differently if your reasons are clear to me. |

A piece of advice for you intending to go to Sweden for studies, and you will live in Stockholm. Pay your fees as early as you can and start processing your accommodation early. You won't know what God has done for you if you move straight from Nigeria to Sweden and into your student apartment. If not, then you may have no peace until you get your own accommodation. My eyes saw my eyes for some months before I settled in, it is so so destabilizing. Let me hint you: One landlord I lived in his house gave me numerous rules, one of which include not cooking in the apartment after 8pm. Now if you go to school from morning to around 2, 3 or 4pm, and then go to work, to close from work around 10pm, sorry will be your case if you don't plan. This is just a piece of advice, especially if you will be studying in Stockholm. 2 Likes |

Blakjewelry: Why are you guys so quick to insult people? This could still be written as "...some persons were arguing like they understood what is at play,..." Please, let's learn to respect people. Whatsoever you don't want to be thrown at you, don't throw at others. Let's make this world a better place for others, by that, the world will in turn become a very good place for us. Just as advice. 2 Likes |

chopnaira: Oga abeg stop to dey fall our hand. Didn't you read "Both AfDB and IDB have approved, but the papers have not even been signed." in the article? @ the bolded, don't you know the federal govt shares money to the states every month? Alex Otti is being applauded because he is using the money he receives monthly to work for the people he is leading. But many other governors will squander the money, borrow more and steal almost all. He has calculated all the money the state will receive in 2024 and seen that it won't be enough to fund all the proposed projects, so he has prepared additional sources by securing approval for loans. The loan will not be taken if by any chance the state actually receives enough money to fund their projects. But in case of need, they can easily access the money, it is at that time that the word 'borrow' will be activated. Also, Alex Otti had said that any money they borrow will be used for developmental projects, and most likely the project will repay the loans. I think our common goal should be to see Nigeria work like civilized societies (because Nigeria has the resources), and not to play politics and tribalism all the time. If you see something good in someone, applaud, it will not delete the natural hatred you have for the person still, but it will make you turn to those who are not performing and hold them accountable. If there are 10 governors like Alex Otti, their influence in their respective states will start facing Nigeria towards the path of economic recovery. Now Otti is fixing roads, Abia will soon have a refinery, electricity will improve, they are planning a rail system, all these will improve peoples lives in Abia state. Your question (the bolded) should be directed to his fellow governors. 3 Likes |

This is propaganda. You just want to remove it from the holders and fix your own thieves. You just noticed the flaw two days ago. And now now you have decided on an alternative. And you already know the new one will save 300b. So you are the one to determine contract sum? Won't it undergo some bidding? The new design won't cost extra money? Come on, you guys should stop thinking Nigerians are fools. |
Family / Re: I Suspect My Friend Of Bad Luck Aura by Lionize: 2:38am On Mar 27 |
Otulaeke: My brother, I had to pass through some Nairaland hassles now just to reply you. Many may think you crazy but you are 100% correct about such occurrences. If you have studied the pattern and pinned it on your friend, two things you can do. 1. Call your friend and advise him to seek spiritual help. 2. Distance yourself from him until he is clean. If you don't have liver to do no1 above, then you may have to do either of the two below. 3. Just look for one flimsy excuse and have a quarrel with him, then disconnect 100%. (you know how you ditch a girl when you are tired of her). 4. If you can't do 3 above, just relocate from that area. But the danger in this one is that he may still come looking for you. So, the bottom line is that you let him know so he finds a solution to his problem. You may do either 1 and 2 together, or 3 and 4 together. The most important thing is that you should stop him from affecting you. It is caused by some demons. This may be as a result of a curse (it may be direct or generational), or just someone spiritually trying to frustrate him. I used to have a classmate in secondary school who was like that. If others comit normal boys misadventure, they escape. The day he does the same, he will be caught. If you do anything with him you land with him in trouble. He was nobody's friend, only classmates. Many years down the line, I learnt from older people that his father had the same fate. I don too write. But I should warn you that some some families are like that, and if you marry from there, the bad luck robs off on you. That is why you must carry out background check on a lady before you start capping "I must marry her, I cannot live without her". Some attribute this to spirit spouse, but not all are spirit spouse cases. I have a lot to say but I won't bore you any longer. 1 Like 1 Share |

Na AA dey always fall sick." Then she go talk. That is the time to run or to stay, before you fall in love without your senses. Politics / Re: Notorious Criminal Who Burnt Women Leader In 2019, Okwo, Killed By Kogi Police by Lionize: 8:46am On Jun 23, 2023 |
My problem in Nigeria is that sometimes police doesn't act when a case of misdemeanor is reported early, they only do when a high profile person, mostly a politician, is involved. Can you imagine that since he committed all these, na now dem strike am. He even dispossessed naval officers of arms, and it was only returned after a 'high-powered intervention'. On another note, most criminals have police and political backings because these set of people use them to also achieve criminal aims, and they pay police from the proceeds of their crimes sometimes . Lastly, these criminals become so intoxicated by charms and think it is Supreme, dem no know say sometimes the demon protecting dem sef no wan die, it will just step aside to avoid being caught up in the bruhaha, then an Angel by the side will ask the criminal 'now dem never leave you'? '. These charms make them being feared by the police sometimes. That is the reason people will be telling you about the crimes of a known criminal, yet nothing is happening to him yet. Some other times, the police, when the person bucket don really full, go get their own charm to be able to arrest the criminal. Make I no tell you the story of Nwa Obi in Abia state. Na him waist the inspector come drag and cut off something, then told his men to shoot Nwa obi. Na so odeshi run away. And the sad thing is, he did not expect they would shoot, perhaps he thought telhey would just take him to the station. On the other side, I feel the inspector wanted to also confirm his action was effective. 1 Like |

Travel / Re: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by Lionize: 6:56am On May 26, 2023 |
chaiks:There is no debate about getting a personnummer, once you get a visa that will keep you here for more than one year, you must get a personnummer. By the way, personnummer=tax ID. The time it takes to be issued one varies, some get it in one week, others get it after about a max of 16 weeks (I fell into this last category). My ultimate goal had been to enter USA or Ca through here, but i am beginning to re-think that. This society seems to me to be a saner place to bring up children than USA, I can't say about Ca for now. In USA, you may make a lot of money if you align yourself properly, or become homeless if you dull yourself. The wealth disparity is very wide in America, but here, the wealth disparity is thin. If your friend would tell you how he manages to take care of himself here in numbers, then you decide. But, as far as I am concerned, here is a good place to come. If you can easily get into USA, good luck, especially if you are single. Sweden seems to be saner than USA. The language barrier is there as you move away from Stockholm, but there is always a price to pay bro. Again, when looking out for schools in Sweden, if you are in STEM, KTH is a good school in Stockholm. 2 Likes |

chaiks:Three years after you have your work permit, if your record is clean. For instance, if you have a bad debt recorded against you, the time starts counting about one year after you clear that debt. There are other conditions. The nature of the debt may also matter. Advice: Just keep a clean record. They were debating for the time to start counting the moment you got your personnummer, even as a student. So how is your friend paying his rent and feeding? |
Travel / Re: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by Lionize: 3:11pm On May 25, 2023 |
chaiks:So is he on scholarship? If you can get in here legitimately, it's fine. Even the illegals seem not to be having issues, so long as they stay out of trouble, which is pretty easy. I think it's quite good here, except for the language matter. But if you are in Stockholm, then that is no issue as almost everyone speaks English, except some old or illiterate one (I have ran into quite some). If you are coming here, target to be in Stockholm, Uppsala or Malmo in that order. Yes they are toughening their laws, but not a problem if you hold a Masters degree. |

chaiks:It is likely your friend is from a rich home where hi fees are paid without alarm. H should not discourage you from stepping out, rather he should warn you of he reality. For now, I recommend you search for schools in Stockholm, Malmo, Upsalla (you can work in Stockholm from there) and Gothenburg. : I have run into some of these rich kids and they make the same comments, even some of them who live in Upsalla. One told me when he just came in that there are no jobs in his location, except for warehouse jobs. I nu kwa! I bet he was looking for a political appointment in Sweden, or a bank branch manager position, when you don't speak Swedish and have no Swedish education yet. Such people will tell people like you that there are no jobs in Sweden. 1 Like |
Travel / Re: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by Lionize: 8:33pm On May 24, 2023 |
chaiks:In Stockholm, there are jobs. Your friend may be right in some sense, but we also see a brighter side to the new policy. minimum income for work permit will become double compared to what it is, but I believe that will overall increase minimum wage in the country. Because, if the low income earners are unable to meet up with your new standard, then what? You send them packing? Then who does the job? Also, Sweden is trying to attract highly skilled workers. Those with masters from Sweden and PhD students belong to this class. So, if your friend says there are no jobs, he may be right, and most likely he doesn't live in Stockholm. But in Stockholm, there are jobs, you just need to fit yourself in. Again, you may not get the perfect desired job before you are done with your masters, but you have to make do with the available for the time being. Another piece of advice, working to pay your fees may require you working about 50 hrs a week, but not many can cope with that and school at the same time, or even if some do, may not be for long. The average is about 35 hrs a week. I |

Like I said, I do not live in Umea but that's fine. My advice is, don't send her out with only one semester tuition fee, keep the second and third. The reason is so she has some time to study the environment and figure out how to get herself fixed with a job. Also, not only tuition, you need to also keep her upkeep for the first seven or eights months after she enters Sweden. "Upkeep" here means rent and feeding basically. 1 Like |

owagbeba:Sharperly. If you finish your masters, you can stay extra one year to look for job. But if you get a job within the period, or even before you finish school, after about 3 years, then you can apply for PR. |
Travel / Re: Swedish Admissions And Student Visa by Lionize: 8:12pm On May 23, 2023 |
Gokoyer0:Honestly, I don't live in Umea, I live in Stockholm. But, if you are determined, and are able to keep pride one corner, it should be possible. My advise is for you to make sure one or two other semester fees are on ground before you come. Then, depending on your ability to cope with work and studies at the same time, anything is possible. I could advise on specific ways to adapt if I know exactly your case. |
