Yeah but initially the jews accused him of wanting to give them his flesh to eat. Also there are atheists here who have argued with me quoting that Jesus wanted us to eat his flesh and drink his blood. He even said I am the bread who came down from heaven. tongue
Jesus also said things like the eye is the lamp of the body, ye are the salt of the earth, out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water, etc.
grin I remember that part where they accused Him. Thank God He didn't cut His flesh out or slice his skin for blood cheesy
And yea, our eye is the lamp of the body, and we're the salt of the earth. That's our identity. An unbeliever cannot use his logical mind to understand that. But an unbeliever can understand the law

It's just like saying Jesus said you should eat his flesh and drink his blood, therefore all Christians should go around looking for his flesh to eat and blood to drink.
cheesy But Jesus gave His disciples bread and wine, and said that's His flesh and blood

Please, give your life to christ and grab the grace of God.

To prove the fault and senselessness in you;

You said carry your cross and follow me, right?
Where is you own cross?

Why can't you offer your house to the homeless people, so you can be homeless for christ.?

You eat three-square meal, right?
Why can't you eat one meal everyday and give the other 2 meal to people who don't have any to eat?

You have good clothes, right?
Why can't you exchange your good cloths with the people who wear tattered cloths?

What are you doing with your shoes, since there are people around you who walk on bare footed?
Why can't you give them your shoe and walk on bare footed for christ?

Why would you buy expensive cloths, shoes, costimetics and jewellery since there are people around that you can put a smile on with that money that has been budgeted for those things?

Why can't you give people around you who are helpless, your jewellery?

You wear sanitary pad(if female), why can't you buy for people around you who don't have money to buy theirs?

You have bed, right?
Why can't you give your bed to people who sleep across the road, so you can sleep on the floor for christ?

Oh! Less I forget.

You are so opportune to have a cell phone that has the ability to access the internet and help you post trash like this.

But until when will you give that your internet-accessible cell phone to people who don't have since there are billions of people all over the world who haven't seen what a sell phone looks like, let alone having it?

Please, go and do these things, before people can take you serious.

Jesus also said if your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it off. If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off. I wonder why Christians aren't walking around with one hand and one eye They just choose which laws to follow and which ones to ignore.

The Penalty of Sin, which is Death, which is not to confused with Sin itself or bondage to sin since those who are saved from Death, the judgment placed on mankind for their unbelief since Adam, can still choose to continue sinning though they will never be condemned again to Death.

Righteousness belongs only to those who are saved from Death and chose then to continue on to obey(trust) and obey the teachings/commandments of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ never promised this to His followers... in fact He promised them that there will be suffering and tribulations, and sickness is a form of suffering. undecided
Long life? Again, Jesus Christ never promised His followers any of this, and this can be seen from the fact that He and the majority of His own disciples themselves were met with "untimely" deaths.undecided
There are curses included as part of the New Covenant that is Jesus Christ, particularly on those who teach falsehoods and deceive others into sin as a result.

** substituted from another Bible translation for better understanding of what is impacted
The above sin carries with it a severe curse that nullifies the very power of the Word of God in the lives of those who partake and those who imbibe the doctrines and traditions of men, which Jesus Christ clearly declares as lies told in His name.
See Matthew 23(the entire chapter) for a list of other curses that are part of the New Covenant, Jesus Christ, the Law in the Kingdom of God
Give us glory? Care to provide a bible reference of Jesus Christ stating this?

Am afraid there is no guarantee given you or anyone that salvation which you received from Death(condemnation of sin - not to be confused with sin itself), comes with a guarantee of Heaven. No, eternal life(grace) which you are given when you are saved, can be spent in either Heaven of Hell, depending on choices you make after receiving salvationundecided
According to Jesus Christ, only those who go on to accept and obey His teachings/commandments will His Spirit abide in, and it is them, who are born of the Spirit of God that will enter into Heaven. The rest, though they have grace(eternal life) are bound to spend their eternity in Hell. undecided
The only way for one to grow in faith is to continue to accept and obey the teachings/commandments of Jesus Christ, which one first did when one chose to obey Him by believing in Him. undecided

Jesus Christ tells you in John 15 that one led by the Spirit of God lives above the Law of Sin and in john 14, He explains that only those who continue to accept and obey His teachings/commandments will become worthy of His Spirit. Before that, in John 8, He explains that those who accept and obey His teachings /commandments are set free from bondage to sin. undecided

A sinner is one who is a slave to sin. And no, the Spirit of God does not abide in a sinner but instead one who is a Son of God, where one who is no longer slave to sin knows the Truth and has been set free by the Truth -Sin is defined by the Truth. John 8 and also recall John 14 vs 23 -31. undecided
In a plain answer, does 1 Corinthians 6:19-21 and John 14:23-31 record that the Holy Spirit leaves when a person sin? And in a plain answer, does 1 Corinthians 6:19-21 say "don't you know your body WAS the temple of the Holy Spirit" instead of "...IS the temple..."?

I don't remember saying when they sin the Holy Spirit will still be in them reason I stated that sin will make your body uninhabitable for the Holy Spirit. So we still on the same page.
I didn't say you said the Holy Spirit will still be in them. I was pointing you to that. It is the present tense "IS" that was used and not "was". The writer was saying that the Holy Spirit was still in them. It never mentioned that the sinner's body will be inhabitable for the Holy Spirit. Or did it?

AsherAmari:
Brrethen, if you want the Holy Spirit to dwell in you and operate freely, flee fornication or any sin that will contaminate your body. According to 1 Corinthians 6:18, the Bible tell us to flee. So if you have to practically flee, please do so.
Joseph practically took to his heels when pharaoh's wife tried to lure him to bed.

1 Corinthians 6:18:
Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Fornication will only make your body inhabitable for the Holy Spirit and when this happens you make yourself vulnerable to so many demonic attacks and diseases.

I know it sounds like a difficult thing to do but by His grace that is sufficient for us, you'll pull through once you make up your mind to give up the sin of the flesh and allow the Holy Spirit take charge of your body.

Try singing this song by faith anytime the temptation to sin against your body comes up.

My body is your sanctuary 2x
Purify me as gold,
So I might be bold to say
my body is your sanctuary.

Shalom.

Hi dear, you quoted "don't you know your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit..." Even when the people in the church of Corinthians sinned, Paul didn't say "your body was the temple of the Holy Spirit". He said "your body IS the temple of the Holy Spirit"... Doesn't it mean that the Holy Spirit is still in them when they sinned? And He still told them that they are of God and not of their own and not they were of God. Do you see what I mean?

It is possible that He sinned afterwards, but since we do not know the particulars of the very details of the contract between Him and God, a contract which defines for him what sin is, how can we truly know if he sinned or not? undecided

We know Adam sinned we know the detail of the command which he failed and the consequence that followed the breaking of that one command. undecided

But in Abraham's case , we can't really know what Abraham's sins were and what consequences, if any, where attached to those sins since we are blind to the exact details of God's contract with Him. What we instead know is that after all was said and done, Abraham proved himself righteous with God through his obedience. undecided

I didn't say the commandments are mere instructions that God gave Abraham, you did. undecided

In Genesis 26 vs 1 - 5, God makes it clear to us that He did indeed give Abraham a Law/Covenant-a contract complete with rules, commands, statues - what we like to call rules set in stone for Abraham to follow. undecided

The same God gave Adam Law/Covenant as well. The same Law passed from generation to generation and on top of that, God made an additional contract with Abraham, so? undecided
Let's say this is true, didn't Abraham sin after? Wasn't he still called righteous after his sin?

So God lied when He declared Abraham righteous as a result of his works. undecided
Abraham did not in fact do that which God commanded of him ? undecided
Instead God, the impartial one, was instead partial where Abraham was concerned? undecided
Is this the default grading system with God or does this only apply in the case of Abraham? I wonder cause all the other men who were declared righteous by the same God - Job, Zechariah, Elizabeth, Simeon, Joseph, Joseph of arimathea - was God also partial to them as well? undecided
You weren't even paying attention. The commandments like you said are the instructions God gave Abraham and did Abraham disobey God? No! Every step of the way, God told Abraham what to do. He didn't put down some rules on stones to guide Abraham. That's how our relationship with God is. He guides us step by step on what to do and not to do. It's a personal relationship. Just like Jesus too. He never shamed those who came to Him. Even the woman that had 5 husbands. Did Jesus tell her the commandments she broke and condemn her? No! He said she should drink from Him and out of her springs of water will flow!

The Law God gave Adam contained one command particular command which stated that Adam not eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, a law which Adam broke, condemning all unbelievers after Him to death as a result. undecided

We do not have the details of the Law(statutes, commands, and rules) that God gave to Abraham, what we do know is that God, the record keeper declared Adam righteous in His obedience of the Law given to Him and that should suffice. undecided
We're talking about Abraham, you're talking about Adam again. embarassed

The commandments given to Abraham were step by step instructions from God to him. The instructions came as a result of Abraham's relationship with God. Abraham wasn't a blameless or perfect man before God gave him that covenant. Neither was his walk blameless after that. As long as he believed God, he was righteous. It's there in the Bible. It's not about Abraham's goodness dear, it's God's goodness in his life wink

my mistake! 26, not 25
tongue And were the commandments that He gave Abraham recorded for us to know? No! Why? Cos Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness. His walk with God was everything Abraham needed. Everything God said Abraham to do, He did and when Abraham slept with Hagar, didn't he break a command? Or shouldn't God get angry with him and cancel His covenant that Abraham will bear Isaac? And when Abraham lied twice that Sarah is his sister (which actually is true), God shouldn't have plagued those Kings na. Or help me understand cheesy

About Abraham, in Genesis 25 vs 1-5, God Himself explains to Isaac why He,God blessed Abraham. undecided
grin cheesy grin See Genesis 25:1-5

Abraham had taken another wife, whose name was Keturah. 2 She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. 3 Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan; the descendants of Dedan were the Ashurites, the Letushites and the Leummites. 4 The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanok, Abida and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah.

5 Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac.
