Like u said yesterday, Daily Trust did a terrible job by saying they relied on information from CAC website. That was very ridiculous investigation. They only ended up misleading the public and defaming the company that actually won the contract. If they had done a proper and legal search without the intention of maliciously blackmailing the government, they wouldn’t have published that false publication.

Based on my experience of how public procurement are done, no company with incomplete incorporation records or inactive status can get a “Certificate of No Objection” from Bureau of Public Procurement. They don’t compromise on such issues.

Again, it’s unfortunate that Nigerians don’t appreciate local content. We want to develop but we are against awarding contracts to local contractors. Julius Berger was awarded the contract in question about 8 years ago and they failed to deliver. All they’ve been doing is waste time and ask for rate review. Now a local contractor offered to do the work at a better rate, Daily Trust and other misguided Nigerians are attacking the company.

Nigeria has always had laws and institutions in place to cater for everything but implementation has always been the problem.....the solution to the Apapa conundrum was purely based on political will by this govt,if not,that place would still be the hell hole it had always been.

I have been to sokoto state where govt put up modern abattoir and lairage infrastructure but the people just refuse to use them and they are been encouraged by same govt officials who benefit from the corruption in the old system which the govt initiative was trying to curb in the first place.... many instances of such abound everywhere in this country.

Nigeria has been suffering from decades of systemic defects especially the type of dysfunctional federalism we run......you can't get all the problems sorted in 8 years except you want to create chaos of catastrophic proportions......the tax reform bill is rather expedient as it has crystallised the major problem of sustainability for the sub nationals which has always been funding,how do you create state police without the states having the required funds and capacity to run it.....manpower,equipment and infrastructure.

If we have a robust tax system in place as these reforms are seeking to initiate.....the sub nationals would then be in better stead to commence state police....only Lagos comes close with the capacity to start state police but still only by a long shot because all lot would still have to be done.

Been wanting to post this over a year now but I just keep waving it aside until the reality of how much progress has been made in that mile 2,Apapa axis began to hit and we could see the positive effects on our business.....it's been long horrid years getting to have anything to do with Apapa,it was always a nightmare of catastrophic proportions......the positive effects on businesses and lives of residents in these axis can't be over emphasised considering how vital that whole area is to the Nigerian economy hosting the 2 major ports of Tin-can and Apapa wharf also several industries and maritime businesses,but this multi billion dollar economy was allowed to deteriorated terribly affecting productivity and human existence in itself,just because of our greed and our humongous reputation for chaos.

It used to be hell going to Apapa just a few months back with unending lines of tankers and container trucks blocking every inch of space to access Apapa,this was the case for several years before now.... but now Apapa looks like a new town without the monstrous chaos the place is reputed for.

This shows that govt can get things done once there is the political will to do it,who would have thought Apapa Would be free so soon.
