So the govt spending money it doesn't have to subsidise your fuel you buy in your car is not satanic.... People are living their lives and are becoming more responsible with resources by being far more prudent and meticulous.

Smart people preempt this and made a plans to stay above water but dumb people like yourself would rather the status quo remains even if the economy would tank out in so far you are able to drive you jalopy around for every unproductive reason with cheap subsidised fuel.....we noh want subsidy again!! Is there any part of Lagos developments that can be attributed either to the business ingenuity of your type, or to the special competitive abilities of a typical agbadorian wreck like you? Is there any part of lagos that is patently a product of agbadorians administrative inventiveness?

If there are, why are you struggling to replicate these "successes" in other areas like the squalid concentration camps of Oshogbo and ogbomosho? And if Lagos became great as a result of collective efforts of Nigerians, why your desperation to acclaim that to which you basically contributed zilch to?

Finally, Tinubu and his overzealous tribal henchmen have managed to bring the much needed attention of the whole country to Lagos state. For a very long time, lagos has been cornering everything that should go to the rest of the country. They have hyjacked most federal properties in Lagos, including the former state House marina. Nigeria can not grow without solving the Lagos problem once and for all. Maybe this tax bill is a blessing in disguise for the country
Make your state more conduceive for businesses and outsiders to come settle....make it more competitive by putting it on the global scale, trust me many would leave Lagos and come live there......if you can't get that done,I advise you just shut that cesspool you call a mind.

And also align political to take away this curse of an administration of the neck of Nigerians

The yoke is much and the pain is so severe…

Nigerians are crying .. pride must be humbled for the country to survive ..

Arewa is ready
Northwest is ready
North central has already aligned
South and East…

What’s happening?

The bill favors no one … no state .. but Lagos ..

And it’s all in Tinubu’s interest to lord Nigeria as he lords Yoruba people

The propaganda of North this and that is false ans a deep misrepresentation..
Which many Igbos and southerners has bought

Now for those east and south reading this ..

What’s is the interest of your states .. your local government or yourself on this bill..

Aside that they told you beer money will not go to Arewa and all gibberish..

But no one is telling you.. that Lagos will be made a center .. that who controls Lagos will be controlling even your local government chairman and you counselor.. your kings and all

They chanted southern unity and southern President

Yet 85% of this government are all Yoruba people.

The north are 1 million times political smarter than the south and they see it all ..

Wake up !
Saboteurs line you are having a field day with disinformation.....do not worry,Tinubu knows how to take care of the problem, before you even knew about it he had already anticipated and made appropriate solutions... It's rather fool hardy to continue to underestimate that guy ....have you heard him say anything to anyone about this tax matter.

Salewa97:
The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has clarified his position on the controversial tax reform bills, saying he was not an enemy of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Zulum, however, insisted that if the four tax bills currently undergoing review before the Green Chamber are passed into law, only one of the 36 states – Lagos – will be the major beneficiary.

The governor made the clarification when he was featured as a guest on Sunday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today.

He said, “I am a strong member of the APC. If you are to count two governors who have been in support of Tinubu from 2019 to 2023, you can mention Prof Zulum. I was the first governor to come out publicly to say that power must go to the South.

“Unfortunately, the President was told by many that the North is against him. About 60.2 per cent of his votes came from the North. There are a lot of misconceptions about this tax issue. During the NEC, we advised the Federal Government to pause for a moment to have a deeper consultation with stakeholders. That was our own statement.

“But later on, people have turned it upside down. I want you to believe that our consultation is central to democracy, and in a democratic setting, we are begging for the right to be consulted. This is only what has happened.”

In the past few weeks, the controversial bills have pitched the 36 state governors against the Federal Government, with the former calling for the withdrawal of the bills to create room for more consultation.

But Zulum had called on his colleagues and Northern stakeholders to reject the bills, insisting that the bills would damage the region’s economy if implemented.

Similarly, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called for transparency and fairness in the ongoing review of
There is nothing wrong with having dissenting voices on any matter....that's why it's a democracy,Zulum has the right to bare his mind.

Is the tax reform bill about LGA tax or is it about the VAT?

What data do you have about LGA revenue from the other 35 states for comparison with the numbers for Kano huh
Check NBS internally generated revenue by states report for 2023.....all the revenue components are listed......Kano state with 44 LGA did less than 1b from LGA revenue compared to some other states with far less.

Zulim is also a beneficiary of the unrest in Bornu state.
They keep people in IDP camps while the governors spend most of their times in Abuja living off allocations largely from South part of the country and donation from international bodies.
That's why they're not protesting banditry and terrorism bedevilling the North. They would rather protest productivity / consumption based tax.
If the FG decides to wade in and police the borders and ensure proper law enforcement as it's fine in the south, you Will all be shouting tinubu is oppressing the northerners.....the northeners are too lax with law enforcement, they get away with everything.....that's the root cause of all these insurgency......

How can my state generate revenue when the environment is not conducive to business due to Tinubus retrogressive policies. there is huge disparity in electricity access across the country. lagos and ekiti state enjoy nearly 99% access, while northern states like Taraba and yobe receive less than 10%. Even a major state like Kano struggles with less than 50% meager electricity access. So tell me, how can the North establish industries and generate revenue under such conditions?
Would you care to compare the revenue generated by the discos in those Lagos and Ekiti compared to the northern states mentioned.....electricity is a commodity and it is made more available where the distributors are sure of making more money.

Food is even VAT exempt, the problem is the businesses aren't formal where their income for the year can be traced and taxed as part of corporate income tax as well as employees income tax.

Something is definitely wrong for a place like Kano that is tuoted to have same population as Lagos and even more not having up to 50% of employee tax when compared to some other states that is not Lagos. Are there no businesses there employing people? No, they only have the mindset that even if they don't work there is federal allocation to be shared from the resources of others...There are lots of ways government make money but they ain't ready to explore those means because of fre money, it's time to make them work for their money.
Kano has the most number of LGA in the country,44 in total but generated 0% revenue from them in 2023.

If the government won't tax the food the northerners produce then how are they supposed to benefit from the tax reforms?
Processing!! The grains used in making the alcohol the south consumes is from the north.....it can be processed over there and taxed at best let the brewery be sited there too......if you don't want consumption of alcohol, create free zones where people who want to consume can go to so as to encourage consumption there by earning more taxes in consumption.

Leather is made from cows which everyone knows the north has an advantage of.....start processing your hide and skins.....Benue state has mangoes and oranges in abundance, you pay vat if you want to drink juice and they can start processing themselves.

They don't tax them that's the issue, typically farm produce are taxed the minimum because it's a critical sector. Government even provide subsides to drive down food prices in developed climes.

The north has been too parasitic for too long, ask them the contributions they made as regards to the federation account they are sharing every month you will find a negligible contribution not to talk of VAT and other issues.

Imagine them taking VAT on alcohol how? When they break and destroy alcohol sold in their region and still want the tax from the alcohol funny people
But they can keep paying taxes to book haram so they could plant, harvest and even sell their produce.....they want development but don't want to pay for it.....if the population you are claiming to have is truly so,you should be happy consumption tax is coming to you......there are more hotels in oshodi Isolo LGA alone than the entire kebbi state,do you then expect revellers who partrinise those businesses spending billions monthly to be paying taxes so you can be sharing when you don't encourage such businesses to be established in your zone.

what has the govs done to ensure this potential is harnessed.

Nigeria now a net exporter of refined petrol.

For the first time in decades we are now seeing trade surpluse.

Crude production above 1.2m bpd that tinubu met it.... about 1.5m bpd now.

Debt servicing to revenue ratio reduced to about 64% from about 98%.

Our foreign reserves grew to about 40b USD in just a year.

Let me tell you what you do not know, Nigeria's macro economic stability is far more apparent than you naysayers are willing to accept......focus on your state gov and ask what he is doing with your states resources and his plans to better the economy of your state.....leave tinubu alone to focus on the macro.
