As long as they can earn 1 extra dollar above what we pay here, they will Japa

Or is it today you know that their packages are shitt?

Like Itsrm said, commit to 5 years sounds favourable, and that is a fact.

The moment you remove that subsidy, nobody will remain here.
If you pay these people very well, some of them will not consider leaving ASAP as they are graduating from college.

The process for doctors to japa is not easy and some people would take their chances of being in naija and flexing this country while doing their jobs.

Surely this cannot be too hard na.
Infact some will not bother to leave at all.

Okay what if UK and US relax restrictions for them even further to counter this move by the FG.

Wetin you go come talk then?

Nice spin

The fact that doctors are now leaving in large numbers has more to do with covid than APC. Countries were in serious crisis and labour shortage hence the need for medical professionals which made them relax migration rules.

Most of those doctors have always wanted to leave, the path just became easier with covid.

I'm sure no one is forced to study medicine, if you can't give 5 years back, look for other courses to study or go to those countries that appreciate skills to study.

Simple as ABC
Lmao.. It's obvious we will not shift ground on this.
So no need

If you people honestly believe this bill will stop at doctors then una never still sabi this current set of politicians 😂😂😂

Did they just realise their skills will not be appreciated after they finished from medical school and got their license?

They actually have an option ab initio, go to the countries where their skills will be appreciated to study medicine.

It's not after you study with taxpayers money you carry the knowledge away from the same taxpayers who need your service.

It's not like they are totally preventing them from travelling. 5 years is all we ask for.
Do you even follow news properly?
The japa wave and rate of brain drain we are experiencing started with this apc government.

Doctors have not been leaving this country in an alarming rate till this party got into power.

This same party has come out through the minister to say the doctors should go and farm and even bragged about the graduates we are expecting from universities.
Instead of listening to the plight of these doctors.
During covid19 again.. During covid19 they paid peanuts to these doctors as hazard allowance. Infact outside Lagos state, how many other states paid doctors well that period.

You think that doesn't affect doctors who are in university?

Okay again I ask.. If the doctors decide to stop working for only 3 months because of this, what will any of you do?

It looks like we might be having alot more Tinubu cases in the US.

I once had a discussion around this on the chelsea thread . If I remember correctly we were arguing about unemployment figures and Larride brandished some NBS stats which I just could not agree with cos I know umployment rate is worse than what the NBS stats were saying .

Larride would have none of it and chose to stand by NBS stats favoring Bubu’s administration as (a party man na). So I called Ibime who is a number guy to reason with me based on say 800k sample size in a country of over 100m will never tell the full story.

Well, Ibime told me that the 800k simple size is okay for naija cos even UK unemployment rate is measured by random sampling of 100k adults and that’s it. I don’t know if Ibime was being politically correct in that discourse or he actually believes extrapolating data of 800k people can do justice to whole populace in a place like naija

And that is what they are doing
Lmao they are holding people against their will.
They are not talking about proper compensation..
Better provision of working tools..

None of that.

So what happens if doctors down tools as a form of protest.

Who go lose?

Maybe you are Omo Baba Olowo, but many people that have japa have their families right here.

If their mama get blood pressure, e go still go the same Nigeria hospital wey no get doctor, abi?

My point is simple. Something needs to be done, whether we like it or not.

What has to be done nau..
I have told you the reality of things from a medical personnel's perspective.

I am not a rich man but these guys cannot be forced to stay.. If they down tools today in protest nko.
Wetin you go them?

You seriously can't compare the medical doctors and IT professionals. The absence of one directly leads to loss of lives, the other does not. One can be self taught or learnt in 6 months or less, the other requires several years to master.

The education they receive is seriously subsidised. Go and find out the cost of studying medicine in advanced countries. You can't even get admission to study medicine in some of the countries.

You can't get this training at no significant cost to you and the first thing you do after you qualify is fly to countries that will never have given you admission to study in the first place

The bill is a really good one. If you can't stay 5 years to give back, there are many other courses to study
Everybody dey receive subsidised education from the FG Universities.
If the FG knew the profession was that important, then why have they not given them special attention ever since.

Was it not during covid19 pandemic that doctors complained of low hazard pay and these same politicians were hoarding palliatives.
I understand that you are looking out for yourself and people who go to clinic but oga doctor sef na human being and the amount of miracles our medical practitioners dey perform for this country with substandard tools means that they have more than earned the right to take their skills were they will be appreciated.

Fix the country in how many days? 60, 90 or 120?

As much as i understand why everybody needs to leave, i have also questioned why this has not bothered the government in a long while.

We just finish arguing about poverty. If all the doctors leave, who will attend to medical cases here?

Or has everyone that japaed ensured they carry all their relatives with them?

Something needs to be done.

I am not against anyone's progress oh, but in all sincerity, something has to be done
Lmaooo... You are not against anyone's progress but at the same time you are saying you understand..

So nor be fixing the country go solve am.
What has the government done for the medical profession to show how important they are?
What are the special incentives they've provided for them?

Nor be government officials dey brag since about how we churn out graduates each year or how they should go and face farming..

So again.. What should the medical practitioner do?

Jokes apart.

Something needs to be done about the brain drain happening.

If i japa, my mama still dey here.

If she sick, she still needs to go to a hospital here.

If there is no doctor, what is her fate?
Fix the country and people will stay.
It's not surprising that UK saw more than 200% increase in Nigerians after EndSars happened.

You cannot stop people from leaving.
Oya the politicians nko.. Why them nor stop themselves from going outside for treatment

Good idea. I fully support. You cannot be trained under our subsidised educational system and carry the knowledge you gathered outside the country the moment you qualify to be a doctor.

It is what it is
You say wetin??
Do you think we just get abroad and start practicing medicine... You think the job is just handed over to them because they finished uni in naija.

Why doesn't this apply to the IT sector too?
Abi you know the amount of brain drain occurring in banking IT departments?
