My dad was a major importer of office equipment in the 80s and 90s and business was thriving until drug barons started using drug funds to import same goods and selling at ridiculous prices to quickly recoup their ill-gotten money. He couldn't keep up and got chased out of business.

In my opinion, travelling and vacation is not middle class lifestyle. At least, not in this country.

I know people tend to use general definition of middle class families forgetting those abroad can take 50 dollar flights for those vacations.

Our reality here is different. If we can also take 50 dollar flights between African countries then most middle income earners can afford that.

But pre apc, people earning even lower than 1m were doing it?
And they were middle class proper.
So is it that the amount needed to be middle class is higher or we have to drop the requirements now because of our reduced purchasing power

In my opinion, if you have a car, can send your kids to decent schools, feed properly and can afford most basic things you need then you're a middle class earner.
