Last time they asked Obj, he didn't regret the military action in Odi and all the hue and cry that he would be charged to the Hague, vanished like Coogar.

I like this your chest-beating, but remember the power is absolute at the center. grin
You forget the military is stretched.
The funny thing about this is that, the infighting will consume ND without the military doing much.

But say ND focuses on the military, do you believe they can fight against the ND, SE, NE and NW at the same time.

So we should forget about what the army has been doing since almost 60 years and only talk about what they did last week ?

No be so na .

The funny thing is if an army captain on mufti gets harassed on ur street here in Lagos ; I can predict most adult male in the street will not sleep with both eyes closed for the foreseeable future for fear of reprisal attacks .

That's because over time we've learnt to know how they react to issues like that outside the law
You are proving my point for me boss.
It should not be happening.
And I am also telling you that I've hardly heard of situations like this happening up north but it is very very common down south.

It makes it worse.
I understand that highlighting it is an issue but I'm sorry, it has gone on one too many abeg.
The Army's reaction makes it worse because it is further driving a division in between the tribes in that area also.

U are just forcing this North vs South thing when it's clear the issue at hand is a "Nigerian Militray thing"

Between 12th-14th December 2015 Nigerian army killed at least 348 shiites members in Zaria , Kaduna state. Why? Because they blocked the convoy of Buratai while he was driving by. The soldiers went as far as going after those that survived the initial attack and allegedly killed them in the makeshift hospital they were being treated in Zakzaky's compound. Such is the viciousness of the Nigerian army in such instances..

U see that this just one example trumps everything u've written up there? At least 2015 is 16 years after military regime and core northerners were killed by the same army for not even killing a single soldier.
And in my previous write up, I talked about the army in recent times.
Again when I argue about a point, I have my angles covered.

You can refer back to my previous posts over the weekend.

Is Zaki Biam also in the south south or south east ?

That is how Nigerian Army act with impunity right from time once their personnel are attacked .

Do u even remember the 2005 police-army crisis in Ojuelegba ? Do u know how many policemen , innocent civilians were affected when the soldiers went on rampage after their officers were attacked ?

Like I said earlier , the conversation should center around having a military that will not resort to extra judicial killings anytime and anywhere their personnel are attacked
The middle belt isn't considered north (except when it comes to politics by arewa) .
If you go through my earlier posts, I made it a north vs south thing which you are correlating.
And honestly I have seen no reason to change my stance.
I can even understand it happening during the early 2000s as we just came out from the military regime.
But it's been consistent behaviour down south especially in the SS region.

I don't know about the SE situation well enough.
But for the South, the military doesn't hesitate in retaliation without any form of investigation.

Apparently the Bayelsa incident really happened because the army said a militant there was also responsible.. But them Don go kill 11 people.
Wooh I Don tire.

'Bloody civilians', killing soldiers on a peace mission, is a call for war in their eyes.

Obj would have done worse as President.
But the issue doesn't make sense the more you read about it.
Now they are saying the soldiers were killed with gun boat.
All the army had to do was investigate. Squeeze a few community people and the truth will come out.

Now what do they think this does?
The urhobos will suspect the ijaws of orchestrating this whole thing by initial inviting the army.
There's also the oil bunker aspect of this.

My own na make e nor spill.
The urhobos already dey agitated about the whole wadocity situation against itsekiris.

There's no need to give this matter any ethnic coloration. Ruben Abati on that same Arise TV condemned giving the Delta incident ethnic coloration .

He mentioned the Odi incident of 1999 in Bayelsa and Zaki Biam incident of 2001 in Benue state which is technically the north .

I think what we should be advocating is for justice to be served . Let the militants who killed the soldiers be arrested and the military not repeat Odi massacre and Zaki Biam massacre which were both reprisal attacks by the military against communities where their officers were killed .

It's difficult not to give it ethnic coloration when we literally experience this consistently. Especially when you've lived through it too and what happened as a kid is still happening as an adult

The Army has no moral right after the destruction of the village.
If they had gone after those responsible then they would have all the support.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by liveLongNprospa(m): 4:30pm On Mar 18, 2024
BlueRayDick:
From the DRTV news report I think the major issue Nigerian government needs to put an end to is the unreasonable practise of military men doing civil police work. In an ideal society, if two communities have issues it is the job of the police to maintain law and order; not members of the military.

It's actually policemen that ought to have gone for the "peace talk" and possibly invite the community leaders for further questioning. I'm sure the community members perceive they may not see their leaders for a long time if they allow them to be taken away by the militray; hence they resisted their arrest.

That being said, the tweet that accompany that DRTV video makes absolute no sense to me. So the poster is claiming military men were not killed simply because the army has not listed all the names of 16 officers killed ? Which dumb reasoning is that? So the army will embarrass itself by claiming it's senior officers were killed by community members when it never happened?

The members of the community who spoke in the video may be telling their story from the little they know claiming they didn't attack the soldiers while in the community, but they can't speak for their fellow community members who are militants who may have ambushed the soldiers after the initial face-off

If I were to be the Delta state Governor, I will be on the next flight to Abuja to meet the president and beg him to ask the soldiers halt on any offensive in that area for now. Beg the president to allow an independent panel of inquiry be set up so the military and members of the community can all come forward, tell their respective side of the story; so as to get a fair idea of what exactly happened. It appears there are many sides to the whole story.
Lmao.. Again you are hoping for the governor to act like he has sense.
I would be surprised if he does that.
As for the FG putting a stop to that, well that won't happen.
Infact it's not even on the table considering the way Tinubu has given the soldiers go ahead according to reports from people like festus Keyamo (who is a deltan and is supposed to use his voice to call for a more intelligent approach)

I think the government of Delta state has a part to play in restoring peace to that community. The governor needs to visit the area and also speak to the army authorities to get their assurance that no extra judicial killings should be carried out by their officers.

The governor needs to summon the traditional leaders of the communities and discuss possibility of identifying the perpetrators of the killings.

Without anybody of authority like the governor stepping in, I'm afraid those military guys will harm a lot of innocent people

But you need hardcore proof that the 8000 in question was innocent Northerners who were buying boli or waiting for a bike.

Dey play with your agenda.

I am talking about a specific issue.

I don't need your support for something that is glaring.

Nobody said innocent people should be killed, neither did i say the communities should be levelled

But i will call out the hypocrisy in your post, comparing this with the North.

What the North has gone through in the hands of the Army in 10 years, is twice what the South has gone through in 30 years.

If you want to criticize the Army in Delta, do so. I dey your back

If you bring the North as comparison, you will see my mention
Again you have not brought one evidence of the army reacting to ambush in the north.
We have multiple evidences of that in the south.
So which is it?
Show me where this same situation happened in the north and the army razed the village (a place that isn't a warzone).
The army gets ambushed and we immediately hear it's bandits or terrorists.

When the army shot the shites, it was tagged the zaria massacre and it was strongly spoken against even till this day. Why I am saying that is because it's one of the few known times that something like that happened in the north.
Meanwhile down south, it's a norm. If nor be killing, the army go just show come clear full street or area just because a few individuals have issues with army personnel.

So please forgive me for highlighting the disproportionate reaction in both regions. And I cannot believe I'm saying this but seeing how I have to spell everything out for you, I am not saying the army has to raze down towns in the north.

If you can't provide your evidence then please carry your opinion, fold it very very small and put it inside your yansh.

Or when the Army was accused of raping displaced persons in IDPs?

Or we should just pretend that the Army has not done thrice up North of what we are reading now?

Not justifying their actions, but community that kills 16 soldiers including 4 Senior military personnels definitely know what they signed up for.

It's not new in Nigeria, and there's no need to pretend about it
You want to argue and I have the time and most importantly the network.

I have taken responsibility for my encouragement in telling people to flee before the arrival of the army (post below).
I have never supported the army going around to kill innocent civilians.
I was in PH when the army was doing their killing in Obigbo and I spoke against it, so nor be today.

If you have evidence of the army going to raze down communities in the north (that are not already battle grounds) .. Then please show me and they'll get my support.

Until then izzou, the army should stop attacking full communities for the crimes of a few.
