If you were invited for CBT, that means you had a chance and could have been awaiting interview result like any other person today. It was not your course that made you not scale through CBT.

While I will advise you dont restrict your search to oil and gas, your course does not stop you from getting oil and gas job.
Thank you sir!

Thank you sir for your time and contribution. This was helpful
agya1:
Firstly, you not being called for panel interview after the CBT could be as a result of so many factors like not meeting up to the required score, or probably stiff competition from your state of origin but certainly not because of your discipline as Biosystem or Environmental Engineering is needed in the HSE department or Renewable energy Division of NNPC and other oil and gas company. If Zoology graduates could be called for panel interview then why not Biosystem Engineering graduates?
Ps: You studied a very lucrative course. Thanks

I did agricultural engineering too. I went for the interview and questions are basically centered on biofuel and environmental impact assessment. Agricultural produces account for majority of biomass for biofuel generation and that alone tells you how powerful you can shape your career towards oil and gas. Thanks
Thanks so much for this contribution. I was worried because Agricultural Engineering was never even listed among the required courses. When I tried to apply for shell too it wasn't even listed among courses you can select so this raised my concern about whether the course is recognised in the industry. I quite understand how the knowledge of Agricultural Engineering and it's diverse options can be applicable to the oil industry but I was worried why it was left out in the two oil jobs I have applied for so far. Perhaps the industry might not know this or recognise the course.

Oga Jarus and other knowledgeable people in oil and gas industry. Please, I need a response to a pressing issue which I need a clarification to so as to know where not to direct my energy in hunt for job. I studied Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering and would like to know the fate and prospect of having a career in oil and gas industry. I wrote the CBT test but didn't get invite for the interview which raise my concern about the relevance of my discipline. I would also like to know if there's any Agricultural Engineer that got invitation for this NNPC interview.

Thanks in advance for your response.

I am sorry to have disappointed you, however I don't need my first class to improve humanity; the quest to improve humanity comes from the heart otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned the likes of PMB, Dangote etc. in the mix. I really don't have to justify how I have improved humanity in my own little way to you, it is not worth the effort.

Secondly, I didn't boast about my degree, I just made a point to dismiss a particular perception that such opinions as mine usually propagate. (viz. Olodo will always depend on God's miracles.

If you don't believe in grace but attribute events to time and chance, I dare ask you, how did time come about? There is a divine template that was used to discover time. Humans can only seek to try and understand what a superior being has designed but just because we have attained a certain milestone of understanding does not make us intelligent.

N.B. you accuse me of assumption but you are also guilty of assuming that I haven't been outside the shores of Africa simply because I believe in grace. My level of reasoning may not be as excellent as yours purportedly but I choose to stand with the belief that there is a higher being because it has worked for me , you stick to what works for you too. However, when you find out that it is no longer working for you, you can try reaching out to that superior being up there in heaven, His name is God Almighty, a trial will convince you, I am a living witness.

I only graduated university 2016 at 21 years and to God be the Glory, I have been to more than 10 interviews; gotten 4 offers, rejected 2 and currently on my 3rd job which pays equivalent of more than a dozen of the new minimum wage after deductions. (I currently work in the Humanitarian sector in the North East, so you can confirm those figures).

This brief overview is not to in anyway brag but to say I can rightly claim knowledge and experience of facing interview panels. And also, lest some people try to dismiss my point of view by saying "Oh your pay won't be more than 50k, so you can't compare the competitiveness with NNPC". I haven't been interviewed by NNPC yet but I can say from the CBT exams I sat for and interview experiences shared by others here, it won't come close to what I have faced, though this doesn't necessarily mean I will pass.

Using my personal experiences as a reference, they were multiple times where I went in before other candidates, came out and told them in details the questions I was asked and still got the job. Damn, it is impossible that we give the same answer to situational questions and because I am giving you the expo doesn't automatically mean you would answer better than I did.

And if you think any of the panel members is here trying to decode psuedo names, just to punish or fail candidates, you are dumb dumb.

There's no half way. If you really believe in your faux integrity, you shouldn't be here in the first place to get any heads up in whatever form. Rely on Google, dress and go for the interview. If you have any questions, call the NNPC Helpline.

Y'all will jot down the points of others and then go ahead to lampoon them for sharing those points.

Hypocrites aye atiii orun nii yin.

At least, somebody type sense sense. Following this thread has been a lot of fun and education for me.

Some people fail to understand the purpose of a public forum which was meant to be a source of help and information to others. May be you need education on why there are public forums. Public forums serve as a medium where users freely render helps to one another. You might have propensity to question the ethicality of information shared on public forums but that wouldn't change anything about its nature being a medium of help and resources for people.

Now, let me tell you this. If you think people sharing their interview experiences here are in any way reducing their chances or that of other candidates of getting the job and as a result give yourself unnecessary headache and anxiety about it then you need help. As far as this thread is concerned, there have never being anyone who has given full or complete details of the interview questions (is it the repetitive situational, safety, behaviour hints people are citing that is making you feel disadvantaged?).

You think oral examination grading actually reflects true performance despite several factors that can be considered in the grading of each candidate and considering the fact that interviewers will always have their own subjective judgement and evaluation of same candidate? I don't know how you guys arrived at the opinion that this, in any way, reduces your chance of employment even in the face of glaringly several playing factors that can affect the overall evaluation of the interview.

I'll just advice those castigating others for sharing interview tips to stop feeling insecure and understand that this is a public forum and those sharing information here are doing what is expected of a public forum and as a result, they are not doing anything wrong as far as what they are doing does not violate the rules of the forum.

Some even have moral courage to type how they can help people pass school exams but can't do same with an interview because in school exams there's no sort of competition and you are not ruining people chances of having a fair competition with people that deserve the grade.

As some of you have rightly pointed out the usefulness of this to the posterity, it's absurd that you still want to jeopardize their chance to access resourceful information because you feel so arrogant that you think you can dictate when people share the information to others. You expect them to share what they were prepared to share, at a later point in time when they might have forgotten or lost the zeal or even do not even care to share again? You guys just showed your lack of respect to core values that bind the spirit of every member of a public forum which you are a member of. This type of demeanor is so absurd and appalling and everyone that is against what a public forum was initially created for should be ashamed of themselves. Some people need to be reoriented

PSSS: I still regret, to this moment, for not acing up my performance early enough in school by practising past questions because I failed to realise early enough that most exams are just repetition of past questions which, in my opinion, shows how trashy our educational system is.

So much bad energy in here, you guys just succeeded in making the young man deactivate his account. All you self righteous pricks should take time to read the last recruitment thread.

People shared their experience and they got they job. Even the P&Q shared by DMainMan had previous interview questions from other successful candidates.

If you think it is ur excellent answers and composure in the interview that will make you get this job, then you are a joker. This recruitment has long been decided & they just want to fill in the blanks (some merit).

FYI thousands of people passed the CBT only few were fortunate to get the invite, y'all think you got invited because you're more brilliant abi? I dey laugh.

Stop attacking people for sharing their interview experience how they see fit.

Lastly, no bad energy person should quote me!
Last line though grin

Seriously, I kept on following this thread not because I was invited but because I hope to learn from people's experiences with how the interview went because I have never had the opportunity to attend job interview before and I hope to get insightful information from this thread. I don't grasp what's wrong in sharing useful tips about the interview to help prospective candidates prepare. Chastising people for revealing the questions they were asked during interview is same as condemning people that curate past question for people to prepare. I quite do not see anything wrong with making information available for the consumption of others.

I believed he was asked how tall he was because he's an engineering graduate. As an engineer, you are expected to be able to make reasonable estimate of size and measurement of dimensions. You could be asked how tall is the room you were in.

As for the trap aspect, he could have asked for clarification concerning the ambiguity of the question.
