A couple received a letter from their daughter who went to study modern physics overseas, the letter read: "My beloved Parents, I miss you so much and it breaks my heart to think that by the time I get back you'll be too old. So enclosed you'll find a bottle of potion I have invented. It will make you young, so when I return you'll be the same age as I left you. NOTE: Please take only a drop" So they opened the envelope and in it there is a bottle with a red potion. the man looked at the wife and says: "You go first." (typical of men!) So the wife takes a drop thereafter, the husband follows. Indeed the wife turn five years younger. Years later the daughter returns home to find her mother young and pretty, carrying a baby on her back. The mother proceeds to tell her daughter how the potion worked and made her look young. The daughter was delighted and asks after her dad. MOTHER: Your father? Hmm, my child, your father was so jealous that I was so young and beautiful so he drank the whole bottle. DAUGHTER: What? So where is he? MOTHER: Hahaha, who do you think is the baby on my back? Good morning peeps |
By Imogen Foulkes BBC News, Zurich New regulations for sex workers are coming into force in Zurich this week, designed to provide some safety to women who work in the sex trade, and to bring a measure of peace to the city centre, the city authorities say. Although prostitution is legal in Switzerland, critics say the law actually offers little protection to the women themselves. For several years, some areas right in the heart of the town, most notably Sihlquai - a street running away from the main station - have been home to a very lively sex trade. Local residents have long been unhappy with the situation, and social workers say the scene is highly dangerous for the women concerned. "They get into cars with men they don't know, and they don't know where they will be taken," explains Ursula Kocher, who runs an advice centre for sex workers. "They get driven out of the city, into a forest, away from anywhere." There have been a number of cases of violence, and of women being robbed. A recent study carried out in Zurich showed that most of the prostitutes working on the streets are Roma (Gypsy) women from central and eastern Europe, and many of them have children to support. Gated sex trade Sex boxes The new compound has drive-in "sex boxes" with an alarm button and an emergency exit on the sex worker's side Now the city has come up with a solution it believes will protect them: soliciting on the streets will be forbidden, and instead prostitutes and their clients will be expected to use a custom-built compound on an industrial site in the Zurich suburbs. The facility opens this week; inside the gates, which are manned by security guards, there is a "strip" which men can drive down, and select the woman of their choice. There are trees, coloured lights, and benches to sit on, all designed to create an atmosphere which Michael Herzig of the Zurich social services says should not be too "sad". Continue reading the main story “ Start Quote Just one man per car, no bikes or motorcycles, no filming, and of course no littering” End Quote Compound rules But since all business must take place inside the compound, there are drive-in "sex boxes", and here the measures taken to protect the women are very apparent. On the driver's side, the boxes are very narrow, making it difficult for him to get out of the car. On the passenger side, there is plenty of space, an alarm button and an emergency exit. There are also safe-sex reminders: "There is a big HIV prevention advertisement right in front of the car, so the driver has to look at a condom, to remind him he should wear one," the city authorities say. And there are very strict rules: "Just one man per car, no bikes or motorcycles, no filming, and of course no littering." Help at hand Meanwhile, just a few steps from the boxes, there is a set of Portakabins where counsellors are on hand, together with a kitchen, toilets and a shower. The new regulations also require prostitutes to purchase a daily sex workers license for a nominal fee, and have health insurance. Social workers explain to Zurich residents how things work at the compound A social worker explains to Zurich residents how things work at the compound "Most women won't be doing this forever, and we do want them to be healthy [for the future]," Ms Kocher says. Zurich's regimented approach to practices which are illegal in many countries has a precedent. Twenty years ago, the city had a notorious open drugs scene, in which dealers operated almost unhindered, and heroin addicts injected openly in the parks and streets. To combat it, Zurich introduced needle exchanges, injection rooms and even heroin prescription, requiring addicts to report punctually to clinics if they wanted their daily fix. The measures did have some success getting the drugs off the streets, but not everyone is convinced the approach can work with the sex trade. Continue reading the main story “ Start Quote We want to reduce violence and to improve living conditions for sex workers” End Quote Michael Herzig Zurich social services "Zurich had a big success cleaning up the drugs scene," says Regula Rother, who runs a drop-in centre for sex workers. "Now they try it with prostitution, I'm really not sure it will work." Zurich's taxpayers approved the 2.5 million-franc ($2.7m; 2m euro; £1.8m) sex-box facility in a referendum, and Ms Rother believes their support had more to do with their annoyance at seeing prostitutes on their streets than it did with keeping women safe. "Zurich is a destination for sex, but the people of Zurich don't want to see it. The government had to do something." Nevertheless, she believes the new facility is a "good solution… if the women go there." Sex trade 'theme park' And that is the big question. No-one is really sure whether women or clients will turn up once the sex boxes are open for business. But Mr Herzig, sensitive to the charge that Zurich has created an expensive "theme park" for prostitutes, insists the intention is very serious. "Of course, people laugh about it," he says. "People have said the city has become the love-vendor, that we are creating a Disneyland for hookers. "But we want to reduce violence and to improve living conditions for sex workers. For us, it's not funny, "I don't think violence is funny. And the cause for prostitution usually is poverty, and I don't think poverty is funny either. So what we are doing here is serious."

An infamous cult leader, suspected of cannibalism and a convicted rapist Steven Tari, a.k.a. “Black Jesus”, has been chopped to death in a remote Papua New Guinea village, reports said on August 31, 2013. Steven Tari had been on the run since escaping from a prison in Madang in the Pacific nation’s east during a mass break-out with 48 others in March. Madang police chief Sylvester Kalaut said that Tari and one of his followers were killed at a village about 20 kilometres (12 miles) outside Madang on Thursday as they were attacking a young woman. “He is now dead and this could be the fate of the others who are also on the run from authorities and I am warning and strongly urging those escapees to surrender themselves to authorities,” Kalaut told the reporters. Steven Tari, a failed Lutheran pastor who was widely known as Black Jesus, was found guilty in 2010 of raping girls who belonged to his Christian-based sect and sentenced to up to 10 years. At the time, he had thousands of village followers, including a core of armed warriors to protect him, in what is commonly referred to as a “cargo cult”. As part of his “culture ministry”, he preached that young girls were to be “married” to him as it was God’s prophecy. Kalaut said the woman Tari was in the process of attacking was “a flower girl tricked into joining the cult”, adding that angry villagers had surrounded him and his companion and killed them. His death follows that of a young high-school girl about a week ago – a murder alleged to have been carried out by Tari. When he was captured in 2007, there were widespread allegations that his cult also practised cannibalism and sacrificial blood rituals, but police only charged him with rape. Black magic, sorcery and cannibalism sometimes occur in Papua New Guinea. For example, last year, police arrested dozens of people linked to an alleged cannibal cult accused of killing at least seven people, eating their brains raw and making soup from their joysticks.

Beverly Osu, one of Nigeria’s representatives at the just concluded Big Brother The Chase, has said that contrary to the general assumption about what happened between her and fellow housemate, Angelo, while in the house, she never had sex both in the bathtub and under the duvet. “Nothing happened between me and Angelo. I didn’t have sex in the house. Though there were awkward moments, we never had sex. I know what happened then between us but we never got down to have sex,” Beverly said while speaking at a media briefing in Lagos Thursday. She disclosed that what happened between her and the South African housemate was real because she genuinely loved him. “We talk everyday. He loves me and I still love him. I would get married to him if I had the chance,” said Beverly. She said her 3-month stay in the Big Brother House was a lifetime experience and whatever people saw there was her real self with no pretence. She said in spite of revelations concerning her lifestyle and that of her mother, she still got the backing of her mother who remains proud of her and her action while in the house. ... PM News |
A human head and two hands have been sent to Kenya’s police commission chief, viewed as a grim warning against his efforts to reform the force, officers said Friday. A box containing the body parts apparently hacked from the same corpse was left outside the headquarters of the National Police Service Commission in the centre of the capital Nairobi on Thursday, city police chief Benson Kibui said. Included was a threat for the chief of the largely civilian police oversight body, Johnston Kavuludi, who was appointed last year and is trying to push through reforms. “Kavuludi, you are next”, a note with the head read. Comprehensive police reforms were introduced in 2011 aimed at stopping violations committed by police during post-election violence in 2007-2008, but implementation has been blocked. The reforms transfer some powers from the police chief to the commission, including responsibility for recruitment and discipline of police officers. “We cannot tell the motive behind this,” Kibui said, calling it a “heinous” act. The package was initially feared to be a bomb and explosive experts opening discovered the body parts. In spite of the unfolding controversy over the propriety of the medical fitness of Taraba State Governor, Danbaba Suntai, to govern the state and the political impasse on who is actually ruling the state, uncertainty is now trailing the whereabouts of the ailing governor. A well informed source who sought anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the matter, confided to LEADERSHIP Friday last night that the governor might have been taken to an unknown destination for urgent medical treatment. He added that four Hilux buses drove to the airport at about 5p.m yesterday and after some couple of minutes, the private plane that brought the governor to Jalingo on Sunday suddenly took off”. According to the source, ‘‘the governor is too ill to even recognise his aides, but a group who feel that permutations for who becomes the governor of the state in 2015 will not favour them realised that with the governor away on treatment for so long, they would lose out. “So, they moved to bring him back. And you can see from the media reports and the different photographs during his return on Sunday that the governor is not in a right frame of mind to do anything. Don’t forget that the governor did not say a single word during that day. “But when seven members of the House of Assembly met him yesterday, they were shocked on the grounds that he could not recognise any of the lawmakers”. But another source who gave his name as Joshua Tanimu confessed that the governor is receiving urgent medical attention, claiming that Suntai is currently at the intensive care within the Government House. He said, “I can confirm to you that Suntai is in Jalingo, but he is in a critical situation, so he is in intensive care. He is closely monitored by doctors”. LEADERSHIP FRIDAY further gathered from another source at about the time of going to press yesterday that Suntai was sighted in one of the highbrow areas in Abuja for undisclosed reasons. Acting governor reverses sack order, direct commissioners, others to resume work But the Acting Governor for the state, Alhaji Garba Umar, has reversed the dissolution of the cabinet by the spokesman of Suntai, which directed the commissioners and the special advisers to hand over to their permanent secretaries. Umar further asked members of the general public to disregard yesterday’s announcement of the purported dissolution of the State Executive Council and the appointment of a secretary to the state government as well as chief of staff. In a statement issued yesterday in Jalingo by his press secretary, Mr Kefas Sule and made available to LEADERSHIP Friday, Umar said that the announcement of the dissolution of the state Excos and the appointment of a secretary to the state government as well as chief of staff was a mere attempt by a cabal to hijack the machinery of government in the state. The acting governor said “The dissolution of the Excos was not a directive by the Executive Governor”. He also re-assured the people of the state that substantial progress has been made in the ongoing discussion to resolve the misunderstandings of the past few days since the return of Suntai. The statement added that Umar was happy to note the high sense of patriotism and the brotherly manner with which Tarabians have been viewing and handling the developments, urging them to sustain this in the coming days and weeks ahead. The statement further reminded all Tarabians that a moment like this calls for greater restraint and vigilance and urged the banks in the state to note that all financial instruments relating to the state government’s accounts should be honoured only if they are in tandem with the provisions of the law. The statement further states that, “They (financial transactions) must contain verifiable signature of the Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency, Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai or the verifiable signature of the acting Governor, Alhaji Garba Umar for the Executive Governor”. - See more at: http://leadership.ng/news/300813/uncertainty-over-suntai-s-whereabouts#sthash.J4T4fevs.dpuf |

Few years ago, precisely, eight years ago, my only chance at happiness was destroyed. As at that time, I blamed no one but fate and posterity, but few months ago, I found out the person behind the incident which truncated my happiness and yet I have been advised to keep quiet and try to forget the whole issue. I really do not think I can do this; I have since been haunted by this, which is why I need your advice. My husband and I met each other at a job interview few months after our service. We had not met before; you know the way it is when you are in a situation where you are bonded by a similar course. We became friends before knowing it. We had both written a test at separate times and we were invited for oral interview because we passed the examinations. We became friends and eventually started dating because we shared a lot in common and possess a passion for similar things. Our courtship was a fruitful one and after two years we decided to get married. My mother's joy knew no bounds as I am an only child though with step siblings. My husband also was an only son of his mother with two younger sisters, though with step brothers and sisters. My upbringing however was different from his, because I was not raised in a polygamous set up, but he was. Before our marriage, I had met and known his family and like he always said, they had their family proverbial black sheep like every other family too. This supposed 'black sheep' really liked me and we got along well. My husband would always marvel at this and he sometimes would joke and ask what I bribed him with. We could not go for a long honeymoon because he had to travel abroad on training from his office, so we went to Spain for only five days, courtesy his office. When I complained that I wish we could stay on, he promised to take me back when he returned from his three-month training and proceeded on his annual leave. Unfortunately, this wasn't to be because precisely, 11 days after we became husband and wife, armed robbers attacked us and killed my husband. We had gone to bed early, suddenly, we heard a loud bang on our door, followed by our elderly landlord's voice. Our landlord, his wife and their 16-year-old granddaughter lived in the other flat. We lived in a twin bungalow. They were a nice family and the thought of the fact that he was forced by armed robbers to knock our door was far from our mind. We then thought that there was an emergency, we both rushed and opened the door only to be confronted with the reality on ground. They had been robbed, their granddaughter who was raped then led to our door. We were all ordered to lie faced down. Our money and other valuables were taken at gun point. I was lying on the floor with the others while my husband was taken round, when he returned into the sitting room, he was ordered to lie on the couch. They were already leaving when the last man who had been standing at the door turned back and shot my husband in the head. They were all hooded, when the other heard the gun shot, they came back inside and in the bid to pull him away his hood fell off, I saw his eyes and what he looked like. They were in a hurry to leave and didn't know I saw him. I had lived with the memory of his face since then. After my husband's burial, I learnt to live with life, though tough and painful. I was however haunted by this man's face. After a lot of plea from my mother and even my mother-in-law, to look for love and live I started dating again last year. Sometime this year, my father-in-law passed on. I have a good relationship with my mother-in-law and my late husband's siblings so I played an active role at the burial. It was a big party. Lo and behold, I saw the alleged thief who shot my husband at the party. Guys what do you think or make of this? |
Nigerian Students, NANS Vow To Riot Until ASUU Calls Off Strike “We’ll Begin Occupy Nigeria In 7 Days” August 29, 2013 – NANS Threatens ASUU, FG Over Endless Strike, Vows To Riot, Occupy Nigeria Until Schools Resume Nigerian Students, NANS Vow To Go On Riot & Occupy Nigeria Until ASUU Strike Ends …….We’ll Begin Occupy Nigeria In 7 Days Peeved by almost two-month old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), yesterday issued a one-week ultimatum to the Federal Government and the union’s leadership to resolve their differences or face serious consequences. The students said if the impasse was not resolved within the next seven days, it will mobilise students on a nation-wide riot in what it described as ‘operation occupy Nigeria’. The students’ body appealed to ASUU to return to the classroom and continue negotiation with the Federal Government since the latter claimed to have released over N100 billion for infrastructural development and another N30 billion for allowances. This was the highpoint of a protest by the students who blocked the Asaba end of the River Niger Bridge to press home their demands. The protest caused traffic snarl for several hours as the students stalled movements to the eastern part of the country even as those returning were barred. NANS coordinator in the South-South and South-East, Comrade Chinonso Obasi, stated that students were at the receiving end of the strike and vowed that they would take their destinies in their own hands if the parties failed to reconcile within a week. “We are appealing to ASUU that since the Federal Government has been able to release N100 billion for infrastructural development and N30 billion for allowance, they should go back to classroom and continue their negotiation or agitation. This is our prayer and wish. “We are giving them one week to open the schools or be ready to face corrosive consequences in form of nation-wide demonstration and riots. We are ready to mobilise for that and it will be operation occupy Nigeria,” he said. Lamenting the effect of the strike, Obasi said students have become prone to accidents on the highways and the female students have been reduced to sex hawkers on the streets. His words: “I stand to tell you that a lot of accidents have been recorded and 99.9% of the victims are Nigerian students. If they were in classrooms, they would not have fallen victims of road crashes. “Our female students have become commercial sex hawkers on the streets in order to make ends meet. This colossal effect is more than what ASUU is agitating for. Hence, we can no longer fold our arms and watch things go wrong.” [From PAUL OSUYI, Asaba, Daily Sun] |
Every marriage requires considerable adjustment and compromise. Each partner approaches the relationship with their own view of how a marriage should be and how a marriage partner should act. Unfortunately, these expectations don’t always line up, causing a great deal of frustration, confusion and sometimes outright resentment. The areas that are most sensitive and cause the most contention are those closely intertwined with our sense of identity and security. Topics such as, religion, sexual intimacy, money management, child rearing, in-law relations, social activity and communication styles are subjects that are common points of contention in almost every marriage. The key to overcoming these differences is learning to communicate effectively. The following tips will help you discuss these important issues in a way that will encourage respect, intimacy and compromise. 1. Communicate to understand rather than to win. This requires you demonstrate acceptance of your spouse’s ideas and opinions. Because you will disagree on many issues raised during the course of your marriage, it is important to learn to suspend judgment and gather information about the other person’s feelings, needs and opinions before you respond. This type of communication demands careful and active listening. Demonstrate to your spouse that you are paying attention by asking questions such as, “Can you tell me more about this?” or repeating back, in your own words, what your spouse has said. Use nonverbal gestures such as, nodding and eye contact to show that you are interested. Ask your spouse to clarify statements so that you are sure to understand correctly. Showing this type of understanding is crucial to solving marital conflict. 2. Have regular “marriage conferences". Create specific times when you will talk and listen to each other without outside distractions. Allow yourself at least twenty minutes in which each spouse has five minutes to ask questions for which the other spouse gives an answer without interruption. Neither partner can agree or disagree with the other, but only listen, summarize and clarify responses. As you practice and become skilled at these listening techniques, you will be able to discuss sensitive items in a calm, considerate and productive manner. 3. Express your expectations for yourself, your spouse, and your relationship. Some expectations are culturally prescribed and carry over into how we think our relationship should be. Expectations also come from our experiences in childhood and throughout life. Keep this in mind when you consider both your own and your mate’s expectations. Don’t automatically assume that your expectations are right and your partner’s expectations are wrong – they are simply different. Whatever your expectations of your relationship, you need to discuss them. Talk about "what I want to be" and "what I want from you". When both of you have expressed what you want and expect you can begin to make adjustments in your relationship and behavior. 4. Only discuss one issue at a time. Trying to resolve every issue that you face in your marriage in one discussion will only lead to frustration and confusion. Try to stick to the topic at hand and avoid tangents into other subjects. Agree to a narrow topic and commit to stay on that topic until both of you have had a chance to express your thoughts and feelings. Staying focused on one specific problem at a time will make it easier to resolve it successfully and will make you feel confident that you can continue to solve problems together in the future. http://familyshare.com/4-ways-to-effectively-negotiate-major-areas-of-marital-conflict |

Stretch marks are not a medical cause for concern, but they can be unsightly and lead to embarrassment. Although there are a number of treatments for stretch marks, including laser removal, dermabrasion, and retinoid creams, these can be prohibitively expensive and are not altogether natural. Fortunately, there are also a number of home remedies for stretch marks, which can deal with the scars in a less aggressive manner. Let’s take a look at the best of those remedies now. Tea tree oil Due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and antibiotic properties, tea tree oil is a popular home remedy for a number of ailments. For the best results, apply tea tree oil to the affected areas every night. Although it has a strong medicinal smell, bear with it and you’ll see a noticeable difference in your stretch marks. Aloe vera Apply the aloe vera gel directly to the affected area every morning. Allow it to soak into the skin until it completely dries. Although it won’t completely get rid of stretch marks, it will help a great deal. Cocoa butter Cocoa butter is used for a wide range of skin treatments, including anti-wrinkling, anti-ageing, and yes, stretch marks. Cocoa butter works by moisturising your skin, increasing circulation, and improving its natural elasticity. To use the butter most effectively, apply to the affected area at least twice a day. Olive oil Effective use of olive in the treatment of stretch marks includes rubbing warm olive oil on the affected areas and consuming an appropriate quantity for your diet. In addition to aiding discoloration, olive oil will help moisturize your skin, thereby keeping it smooth and healthy. • Source: themedicalfacts.com |
