NA should leave those guys. Almost same thing happened to me in my polling unit after the counting of votes scored by each political party. I was about to input the scores in form EC8A when a hillux van with armed mobile policeman, and few civilians suggested to be politician arrived my PU. They told me as PO that I should not write any result that my SPO has instructed them to returned me to RAC and theyforcefully made me and my APOs' entered the van with election materials. On our way to RAC they halted the van in nearby bush, they stamped, signed and thumbprinted the unsused ballots papers in favour of a political party. Let me stop here. My question is what if military guys caught them while they're doing this when my colleagues and I were with them. |

UNIOSUN STUDENTS SAYS ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! " In the world of Injustice, silence is a crime". We the students of UniOsun are saying enough is enough to every mode and manner the management of our great institution is using to make life unbearable to us and we can not continue to keep quiet. It's of no news that there has been a drastic continuous increment in the every available fee on campus. The management of our institution just wake up and decides on the increment of every available fee without minding the conditions of the economy and the purse of the students. These are the major increment of the fees on our campuses. Acceptance Fee: From #25,00 to #40,000 Medical Fee: From #7,000 to #15,000 Late Registration Fee: #10,000 to #20,000 Matriculation Fee: #2,500 to #5,000. And also the additional #2,000 for admission checker, couple with the fact that we are given limited time to pay our fees. Recently , #10,000 late registration fee was added to the stalite school fees. The newly admitted students (freshers) are no longer allowed to make a part payment of their school fees. All these are the major increment in our fees and despite the management of our institution being aware of the current situation of the country. The country is in a recession, our parents are not being paid their salaries and when they are being paid, they are being paid part payment and despite all these, the management still deem it fit to keep increasing the fees. "It is never in the mind of the oppressor to liberate the oppressed". We do not know which fee they are planning to increase and when they are planning to implement it but all we know is that we are saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH to every increment on our campuses. OUR DEMANDS. In lieu of all these increment, we are saying NO to any form of oppression. These are our demands. * Late registration Fee for stalite must be immediately scrapped off. * The portal should be made available for freshers to make part payment of their school fees. * Matriculation Fee increment should be reversed back to its former fee of #2,500. * Enough time should be given to our payments. We hereby issue an ultimatum of seven (7) days to the management of our institution that if all these demands are not being met, we will make the power of the masses and students known to them. UNILORIN PhD graduand dies on convocation day Success Nwogu: A postgraduate student of Arabic at the University of Ilorin, AbdulHafeez Adedimeji, died on Saturday, the day he was to receive his doctorate at a convocation. Sources told our correspondent that another doctoral graduand died shortly before the ceremony. Soon after the Dean, Faculty of Post Graduate Studies, Prof. Badmas Yusuf, informed attendants of the graduands’ demise, a gloomy atmosphere enveloped the lively UNILORIN auditorium where the 32nd graduation activities were being held. Adedimeji, who until his death was a lecturer at the Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State, was among 166 receiving doctoral degrees at the convocation. He was said to have arrived in Ilorin for the convocation not long before his death. The Vice Chancellor of UNILORIN, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, said 67 of the 6,069 graduands for first degrees were first class, adding that it was an improvement on last year’s 41 first-class graduands. He explained that 1,505 merited second- class upper division, compared to 1,234 last year; 3,200, second-class lower division; 1,124, third class; and 70, pass. He stated that 1,903 postgraduate students, 8,038 first degree students and 68 diploma students graduated on Friday and Saturday, being the first two days of the 32nd convocation. President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the Visitor to the university, assured Nigerians that the country would overcome the ongoing economic recession. Buhari, who was represented by the Deputy Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, Prof. Chiedu Mafiana, said recession was not peculiar to Nigeria, adding that many other countries in the world were facing similar challenges. According to the President, the recession was brought about by the collective failure of Nigerians as a people, dependency on oil exports to the exclusion of other products, insatiable appetite for foreign goods and services, including importation of food, corruption and lack of proper planning. The President said his administration was doing everything possible to restructure the economy and change the nation’s ways of doing things. The Visitor reiterated the Federal Government’s resolve to steer the attitude and values of the citizens, especially the youth, towards positive direction. He stated that the responsibilities and obligations of university teachers in achieving this goal could not be overstated. The NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Rasheed Adamu, who was also represented by Mafiana, stated that he was saddened and dismayed by what he termed the growing tension and animosity in various university campuses.
