Today we shall be looking at the Four Kinds Of Breeders. This post will help every so-called breeder to know their class and also help those who want to buy dogs to know the group/person to buy from. these days every one one is a breeder. forgetting that; Being a breeder entails more than having/owning a couple of dogs in your house. It requires much more. Dog Breeders differ from each other: The Big question is; How do you know which breeder is best? To that effect, we shall be looking at the Four types of breeders. First, who is a breeder? Although, there are various definitions. But i'll be classifying those definitions into 2 main groups. Accurate and In-accurate(this is where many breeders come in) 1. Accurate: A breeder is a person who selectively breeds carefully selected mates , normally of the same breed to sexually reproduce offspring with specific, consistently replicable qualities and characteristics. 2. In-accurate: Breeders are individuals or organizations that mates, whelps, raises, then sells puppies.(this what most breeders practice). Note: Breeding goes beyond this!! TYPES OF BREEDERS. (1) Commercial Dog Breeding. (2) Backyard Breeder. (3) Hobby Breeder, Show Breeder. (4) Professional non-show breeder. 1. Commercial Dog Breeders: All puppies that are sold in pet stores now-a-days are born and raised in commercial operations. Commercial operations house many dogs and sell a variety of different breeds usually to a middleman or broker who delivers the puppy to the store. Here, Dogs are kept in cages and may spend their entire lives in these cages. The female dogs are bred continually throughout their lives producing litter after litter to be sold to pet stores or major junctions of very busy residential areas. Also, These dogs generally do not receive adequate health care or grooming and most receive little human interaction. Housing is poor and usually not clean. 2. Backyard Dog Breeders: A second type of breeder is what is generally called a “backyard breeder.” This breeder may or may not raise puppies in his backyard, but the name implies that it is an individual who has a female dog and knows someone with a male dog, so they decide to let them mate. There are many reasons why this occurs. · They want their children to experience the wonder of birth · They have a beloved dog and want another one just like him or her · They think they can make extra money on the side · They have friends or family member who want a puppy. Most experts would agree that the reasons listed above are not adequate reasons for bring new puppies into this world. Since this type of breeder mates their pet dogs, they are like to care about the sire or dame and get adequate veterinary care for them. This, however, is not always the case. They are likely to have adequate housing and food. Again, high quality food is expensive and their dogs may not have access to the best nutrition. Since they may only own one or two dogs, the dogs will likely get plenty of attention and be treated as the pets they are. They are also likely to care about the puppies and give them attention. This separates these individuals from Commercial breeders. The major problem with backyard breeders lies in their possible lack of knowledge of breed standards, common health risks of the breed, inadequate knowledge of canine obstetrics and care of the newborns. They usually sell their pups locally without health guarantees or even vaccinations. 3. Hobby Dog Breeders: The line is thin between the third and fourth type of breeders, hobby and professional. Both have knowledge of the breed, health risks, and canine obstetrics. They both keep up-to-date on new research and knowledge and are continuing to learn more and more about their chosen breeds. Many hobbyists test their breeding stock prior to breeding and choose dogs for breeding based on temperament, conformity and health. By its very name, a hobby breeder is one who breeds occasionally, once or twice a year. 4. Professional Dog Breeders: Professional breeders are similar to hobby breeders in all the ways listed above except look at themselves as a legitimate business and run the operation as a business which includes record keeping, accounting etc... So, briefly we have covered the pros and cons of different types of dog breeders. If you have your heart set on a cuddly little pup from a breeder, these four types of breeders are likely to have what you want. The choice is yours, but it’s fair to say that even within the four categories, breeders are not alike. Purchasing a puppy is a big undertaking not to mention a substantial financial investment. Do your homework and only purchase from a breeder that you feel comfortable with. The best way to purchase a dog is to meet the breeder in person, view her operation, and see the puppy’s parents. If this isn’t possible, a long phone conversation and lots of emails is a necessity. You should have a list of questions to ask any breeder you are planning to purchase a puppy from. get more:www.fb.om/KennelClubOfRivers Source: www.smalldogplace.com/dog-breeders.html |

A lot(millions) of Nigerians hate and therefore neglects the importance of having a dog as a pet. This piece will educate them on the importance of that creature(Man's best friend) |
GogetterMD:thank you! |
For those parents sitting on the edge, here are several positive reasons you might not have thought of to bring a pet home for your kids: Aside from building great memories, having a pet in the house actually serves some pretty incredible purposes when it comes to the emotional development and even physical health of kids. Multiple studies point to the positive impact that companion animals have on our kids, but don’t despair if allergies, building policies or finances keep you from being able to add to the family at the moment. There are plenty of programs and volunteer opportunities out there that allow kids to engage with animals one-on-one and reap many of the rewards that having a companion in the home would provide. Either way, kids and animals alike benefit from each other’s company, and they enjoy some pretty valuable benefits along the way. 1. A study in the Journal of Pediatrics shows that kids who had a dog during the first year of their life had higher immune response, with 31% fewer respiratory tract infections than those without. 2. I think I can, I think I can! Children with a companion animal in the home have higher self-esteem impulse control and social skills. 3. Living with and interacting with a family pet increases empathy and compassion. 4. Having a furry friend in the house can help instill a sense of responsibility in kids, so keep assigning those poop scooping chores. It’s for their own good. 5. They’ll never lack for a soft pillow. : ) 6. Children with autism, other spectrum disorders or ADHD can experience lowered blood pressure and better cognitive and communication gains when able to participate in therapy dog programs. 7. Kids who find reading a challenge have higher success when reading to their pet. Researchers posit that this can be the result of lowered stress when in the presence of Mr.Whiskers. 8. They get this Feeling of being loved unconditionally?- I can tell you that, that feeling is Priceless. 9. Kids with pets get outside more—to go for walks, run and play —and enjoy all the associated health benefits. 10. Nurturing a pet is an acceptable way for boys to "parent play"—to practice being caregivers. 11. Sharing the love and care of a family pet forges an additional common bond among siblings. 12. Playing with dogs may help lower blood pressure. 13. Children who grow up in homes with pets have less risk of developing common allergies and asthma. There are so many benefits that pets provide for kids! It's easy for kids to get wrapped up in the idea of owning a new pet(Dog), but it's up to their parents to make sure the experience is a positive one and that the pets(Dog) receive the care they need for their entire lives. Kids tend to think of all the good, fun benefits of having a pet (Dog). Parents who are experienced, or even first-time pet owners, know there is a lot of patience, time and effort involved but that the payoff of sharing your home and life is the unconditional love a well-cared-for pet(Dog) gives. It's well worth it. Cc lalasticlala fynestboi mynd44
